Remove all malloc hook uses from core malloc functions and move it
into a new library libc_malloc_debug.so. With this, the hooks now no
longer have any effect on the core library.
libc_malloc_debug.so is a malloc interposer that needs to be preloaded
to get hooks functionality back so that the debugging features that
depend on the hooks, i.e. malloc-check, mcheck and mtrace work again.
Without the preloaded DSO these debugging features will be nops.
These features will be ported away from hooks in subsequent patches.
Similarly, legacy applications that need hooks functionality need to
preload libc_malloc_debug.so.
The symbols exported by libc_malloc_debug.so are maintained at exactly
the same version as libc.so.
Finally, static binaries will no longer be able to use malloc
debugging features since they cannot preload the debugging DSO.

Reinstate gconv-modules as the main file so that the configuration
files in gconv-modules.d/ become add-on configuration. With this, the
effective user visible change is that GCONV_PATH can now have
supplementary configuration in GCONV_PATH/gconv-modules.d/ in addition
to the main GCONV_PATH/gconv-modules file.
Split module configuration so that only the bare minimum charsets,
i.e. ANSI_X3.110, ISO8859-15, ISO8859-1, CP1252, UNICODE, UTF-16,
UTF-32 and UTF-7 are configured in gconv-modules.conf. The remaining
module configurations are now in gconv-modules-extra.conf.

Move all gconv-modules configuration files to gconv-modules.conf.
That is, the S390 extensions now become gconv-modules-s390.conf. Move
both configuration files into gconv-modules.d.
Now GCONV_PATH/gconv-modules is read only for backward compatibility
for third-party gconv modules directories.

This commit removes the ELF constructor and internal variables from
dlfcn/dlfcn.c. The file now serves the same purpose as
nptl/libpthread-compat.c, so it is renamed to dlfcn/libdl-compat.c.
The use of libdl-shared-only-routines ensures that libdl.a is empty.
This commit adjusts the test suite not to use $(libdl). The libdl.so
symbolic link is no longer installed.

This updates IBM256, IBM277, IBM278, IBM280, IBM284, IBM297, IBM424
in the same way that IBM273 was updated for bug 23290.
IBM256 and IBM424 still have holes after this change, so HAS_HOLES
is not updated.

The conversion loop to the internal encoding does not follow
the interface contract that __GCONV_FULL_OUTPUT is only returned
after the internal wchar_t buffer has been filled completely. This
is enforced by the first of the two asserts in iconv/skeleton.c:

This commit solves this issue by queuing a second wide character
which cannot be written immediately in the state variable, like
other converters already do (e.g., BIG5-HKSCS or TSCII).

I used these shell commands:

I then removed trailing white space from benchtests/bench-pthread-locks.c
and iconvdata/tst-iconv-big5-hkscs-to-2ucs4.c, to work around this
diagnostic from Savannah:

The byte 0xfe as input to the EUC-KR conversion denotes a user-defined
area and is not allowed. The from_euc_kr function used to skip two bytes
when told to skip over the unknown designation, potentially running over
the buffer end.
The IBM1364, IBM1371, IBM1388, IBM1390 and IBM1399 character sets
share converter logic (iconvdata/ibm1364.c) which would reject
redundant shift sequences when processing input in these character
sets. This led to a hang in the iconv program (CVE-2020-27618).
This commit adjusts the converter to ignore redundant shift sequences
and adds test cases for iconv_prog hangs that would be triggered upon
their rejection. This brings the implementation in line with other
converters that also ignore redundant shift sequences (e.g. IBM930
etc., fixed in commit 692de4b396).

An input BIG5-HKSCS character may be converted into at most 2 wchar_t
characters. After outputting the second whcar_t character (which was
saved in the converter state) we must reset the state. If we fail
to reset the state we will be stuck continually copying that
character to the output even if we have further input to consider.
We add a new test case that covers the 4 BIG5-HKSCS characters
that may become 2 wchar_t characters.

In two places in glibc, -Wextra produces implicit-fallthrough warnings
where there are comments about the fall-through but their wording
doesn't match one of the forms expected by the default
implicit-fallthrough level. This patch adjusts those two places to
have a comment in a form that is accepted, so avoiding the warning
(this seems preferable to only being able to use a looser level of the
warning that allows any comment at all as evidence of deliberate
fall-through).
Tested for x86_64.

This code page is identical to code page 850 except that X'D5'
has been changed from LI61 (dotless i) to SC20 (euro symbol).
The code points from /x01 to /x1f in the /localedata/charmaps/IBM858
file have the same mapping as those in localedata/charmaps/ANSI_X3.4-1968.
That means they disagree with with
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/globalization/gcoc/attachments/CP00858.txt
in that range.
For example, localedata/charmaps/IBM858 and localedata/charmaps/ANSI_X3.4-1968 have:
“<U0001> /x01 START OF HEADING (SOH)”
whereas CP00858.txt has:
“01 SS000000 Smiling Face”
That means that CP00858.txt is not really ASCII-compatible and to make
it ASCII-compatible we deviate fro CP00858.txt in the code points from /x01
to /x1f.

This patch increases the timeouts for some tests that I've seen timing
out on slow systems in my 2.26 release testing. (In the case of
tst-tsearch.c, increasing the timeout means removing a setting of 10
that was put there before the default timeout was increased to 20
seconds, so putting the default into effect.)

cppflags-iterator.mk no longer has anything to do with CPPFLAGS; all

posix/wordexp-test.c used libc-internal.h for PTR_ALIGN_DOWN; similar
to what was done with libc-diag.h, I have split the definitions of
cast_to_integer, ALIGN_UP, ALIGN_DOWN, PTR_ALIGN_UP, and PTR_ALIGN_DOWN
to a new header, libc-pointer-arith.h.
It then occurred to me that the remaining declarations in libc-internal.h
are mostly to do with early initialization, and probably most of the
files including it, even in the core code, don't need it anymore. Indeed,
only 19 files actually need what remains of libc-internal.h. 23 others
need libc-diag.h instead, and 12 need libc-pointer-arith.h instead.
No file needs more than one of them, and 16 don't need any of them!
So, with this patch, libc-internal.h stops including libc-diag.h as
well as losing the pointer arithmetic macros, and all including files
are adjusted.

This patch increases timeouts on some tests I've observed timing out.
elf/tst-tls13 and iconvdata/tst-loading both dynamically load many
objects and so are slow when testing over NFS. They had timeouts set
from before the default changed from 2 to 20 seconds; this patch
removes those old settings, so effectively increasing the timeout to
20 seconds (from 3 and 10 seconds respectively).
malloc/tst-malloc-thread-fail.c and malloc/tst-mallocfork2.c are slow
on slow systems and so I set a fairly arbitrary 100 second timeout,
which seems to suffice on the system where I saw them timing out.
nss/tst-cancel-getpwuid_r.c and nss/tst-nss-getpwent.c are slow on
systems with a large passwd file; I set timeouts that empirically
worked for me. (It seems tst-cancel-getpwuid_r.c is hitting the
100000 getpwuid_r call limit in my testing, with each call taking a
bit over 0.007 seconds, so 700 seconds for the test.)

This commit adds a new DIAG_IGNORE_Os_NEEDS_COMMENT which is only
enabled when compiling with -Os. This allows developers working on
-Os enabled builds to mark false-positive warnings without impacting the
warnings emitted at -O2.
Then using the new DIAG_IGNORE_Os_NEEDS_COMMENT we fix 6 warnings
generated with GCC 5 to get -Os builds working again.
The IBM930, IBM933, IBM935 and IBM939 converters defined lookup
tables which were not constant. They also contained an
unnecessary pointer indirection.
According to the latest Unicode standard, a conversion from/to UTF-xx has
to report an error if the character value is in range of an utf16 surrogate
(0xd800..0xdfff). See https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-help/2015-12/msg00015.html.
Thus this patch fixes this behaviour for converting from utf32 to internal and
from internal to utf8.
Furthermore the conversion from utf16 to internal does not report an error if the
input-stream consists of two low-surrogate values. If an uint16_t value is in the
range of 0xd800 .. 0xdfff, the next uint16_t value is checked, if it is in the
range of a low surrogate (0xdc00 .. 0xdfff). Afterwards these two uint16_t
values are interpreted as a high- and low-surrogates pair. But there is no test
if the first uint16_t value is really in the range of a high-surrogate
(0xd800 .. 0xdbff). If there would be two uint16_t values in the range of a low
surrogate, then they will be treated as a valid high- and low-surrogates pair.
This patch adds this test.
This patch also adds a new testcase, which checks UTF conversions with input
values in range of UTF16 surrogates. The test converts from UTF-xx to INTERNAL,
INTERNAL to UTF-xx and directly between UTF-xx to UTF-yy. The latter conversion
is needed because s390 has iconv-modules, which converts from/to UTF in one step.
The new testcase was tested on a s390, power and intel machine.

This patch introduces a way to provide an architecture dependent gconv-modules
file. Before this patch, the gconv-modules file was normally installed from
src-dir/iconvdata/gconv-modules. The S390 Makefile had overridden the
installation recipe (with a make warning) in order to install the
gconv-module-s390 file from build-dir.
The iconvdata/Makefile provides another recipe, which copies the gconv-modules
file from src to build dir, which are used by the testcases.
Thus the testcases does not use the currently build s390-modules.
This patch uses build-dir/iconvdata/gconv-modules for installation, which
is generated by concatenating src-dir/iconvdata/gconv-modules and the
architecture specific one. The latter one can be specified by setting the variable
sysdeps-gconv-modules in sysdeps/.../Makefile.
The architecture specific gconv-modules file is emitted before the common one
because these modules aren't used in all possible conversions. E.g. the converting
from INTERNAL to UTF-16 used the common UTF-16.so module instead of UTF16_UTF32_Z9.so.
This way, the s390-Makefile does not need to override the recipe for gconv-modules
and no warning is emitted anymore.
Since we no longer support empty objpfx the conditional test in iconvdata/Makefile
is removed.

These scripts use #!/bin/sh explicitly, so make sure they avoid echo -n
as different shells treat it differently. Use the portable printf func
instead.
