0acb8a2a85 Refactor long double information into bits/long-double.h.
Information about whether the ABI of long double is the same as that
of double is split between bits/mathdef.h and bits/wordsize.h.

When the ABIs are the same, bits/mathdef.h defines
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH. In addition, in the case where the same glibc
binary supports both -mlong-double-64 and -mlong-double-128,
bits/wordsize.h defines __LONG_DOUBLE_MATH_OPTIONAL, along with
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH if this particular compilation is with
-mlong-double-64.

As part of the refactoring I proposed in
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2016-11/msg00745.html>, this
patch puts all that information in a single header,
bits/long-double.h. It is included from sys/cdefs.h alongside the
include of bits/wordsize.h, so other headers generally do not need to
include bits/long-double.h directly.

Previously, various bits/mathdef.h headers and bits/wordsize.h headers
had this long double information (including implicitly in some
bits/mathdef.h headers through not having the defines present in the
default version). After the patch, it's all in six bits/long-double.h
headers. Furthermore, most of those new headers are not
architecture-specific. Architectures with optional long double all
use the ldbl-opt sysdeps directory, either in the order (ldbl-64-128,
ldbl-opt, ldbl-128) or (ldbl-128ibm, ldbl-opt). Thus a generic header
for the case where long double = double, and headers in ldbl-128,
ldbl-96 and ldbl-opt, suffices to cover every architecture except for
cases where long double properties vary between different ABIs sharing
a set of installed headers; fortunately all the ldbl-opt cases share a
single compiler-predefined macro __LONG_DOUBLE_128__ that can be used
to tell whether this compilation is -mlong-double-64 or
-mlong-double-128.

The two cases where a set of headers is shared between ABIs with
different long double properties, MIPS (o32 has long double = double,
other ABIs use ldbl-128) and SPARC (32-bit has optional long double,
64-bit has required long double), need their own bits/long-double.h
headers.

As with bits/wordsize.h, multiple-include protection for this header
is generally implicit through the include guards on sys/cdefs.h, and
multiple inclusion is harmless in any case. There is one subtlety:
the header must not define __LONG_DOUBLE_MATH_OPTIONAL if
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH was defined before its inclusion, because doing
so breaks how sysdeps/ieee754/ldbl-opt/nldbl-compat.h defines
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH itself before including system headers. Subject
to keeping that working, it would be reasonable to move these macros
from defined/undefined #ifdef to always-defined 1/0 #if semantics, but
this patch does not attempt to do so, just rearranges where the macros
are defined.

After this patch, the only use of bits/mathdef.h is the alpha one for
modifying complex function ABIs for old GCC. Thus, all versions of
the header other than the default and alpha versions are removed, as
is the include from math.h.

Tested for x86_64 and x86. Also did compilation-only testing with
build-many-glibcs.py.

e96a3ca703 Fix arg used as litteral suffix in tst-strfrom.h
The macro ENTRY in tst-strfrom.h is used to generate the input values for
each floating-point type (float, double, long double). It should append
the parameter LSUF (Literal suffix) to the floating-point number, but is
using CSUF (C function suffix). This patch fixes it.

Tested for powerpc64le and x86_64.

c23de0aacb support: Introduce new subdirectory for test infrastructure
The new test driver in <support/test-driver.c> has feature parity with
the old one. The main difference is that its hooking mechanism is
based on functions and function pointers instead of macros. This
commit also implements a new environment variable, TEST_COREDUMPS,
which disables the code which disables coredumps (that is, it enables
them if the invocation environment has not disabled them).

<test-skeleton.c> defines wrapper functions so that it is possible to
use existing macros with the new-style hook functionality.

This commit changes only a few test cases to the new test driver, to
make sure that it works as expected.

84c426b85d Ignore -Wmaybe-uninitialized in stdlib/bug-getcontext.c.
Doing all-ABIs compile testing produces a compiler warning in
stdlib/bug-getcontext.c on nios2 and tilepro (with GCC 5 branch):

bug-getcontext.c: In function 'do_test':
bug-getcontext.c:53:6: error: 'except_mask' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized]
   if (mask != except_mask)
      ^

This warning appears nonsensical; except_mask is initialized where
it's declared. I think what must be happening here is that the
compiler is confused by the returns-twice nature of getcontext: if
there were a call to setcontext, local variables could indeed have
lost their values on the second return from getcontext. This patch
duly uses the DIAG_* macros to disable the warning here.

Tested for nios2 and tilepro (compilation only; after this patch all
the tests compile, though there are other failures) and x86_64 (full
testsuite run).

	* stdlib/bug-getcontext.c: Include <libc-internal.h>.
(do_test): Disable -Wmaybe-uninitialized around uses of
	except_mask.

4725d33eed Make strtod raise "inexact" exceptions (bug 19380).
The strtod function should raise the "inexact" exception when its
result is inexact, but fails to do so except in the case of underflow
or overflow. This patch fixes it to do so for all inexact results.

tst-strtod-round is extended to test for this exception; the generator
is fixed to properly mark inexact results as such in the case where
the inexactness is from the mpfr_subnormalize step.

Tested for x86_64, x86 and powerpc.

6962682ffe Add strfromd, strfromf, and strfroml functions
ISO/IEC TS 18661-1 adds several functions in the strfrom family to stdlib.
This patch adds strfromd, strfromf, and strfroml. This is being done in
preparation for the new floating-point type, float128. The added functions
convert a floating-point value into a string, with configurable format.

5b17fd0da6 Add <stdint.h> integer width macros.
TS 18661-1 defines macros for the width of integer types, intended for
use with the fromfp functions to convert from floating-point types to
integer types of any width, in any rounding mode and with control over
whether "inexact" is raised. Such macros are, of course, more
generally useful than just with those functions.

Those macros are added to <limits.h> and <stdint.h>. Having

the <limits.h> macros to glibc's header, with the <stdint.h> ones
intended to be added in a separate patch (which would add to the NEWS
entry created by this patch). I've also added these macros to GCC's
headers for GCC 7, but definitions in glibc's <limits.h> are still
useful for older GCC, for non-GNU compilers and for when it's
_GNU_SOURCE rather than __STDC_WANT_IEC_60559_BFP_EXT__ that implies
the macros should be defined since the GCC header only considers
__STDC_WANT_IEC_60559_BFP_EXT__ (and for glibc systems, the
definitions in GCC's <stdint.h> will only be used with
-ffreestanding).

db3476aff1 libio: Implement vtable verification [BZ #20191]
This commit puts all libio vtables in a dedicated, read-only ELF
section, so that they are consecutive in memory. Before any indirect
jump, the vtable pointer is checked against the section boundaries,
and the process is terminated if the vtable pointer does not fall into
the special ELF section.

To enable backwards compatibility, a special flag variable
(_IO_accept_foreign_vtables), protected by the pointer guard, avoids
process termination if libio stream object constructor functions have
been called earlier. Such constructor functions are called by the GCC
2.95 libstdc++ library, and this mechanism ensures compatibility with
old binaries. Existing callers inside glibc of these functions are
adjusted to call the original functions, not the wrappers which enable
vtable compatiblity.

The compatibility mechanism is used to enable passing FILE * objects
across a static dlopen boundary, too.

2df1b9804b quick_exit tests: Do not use C++ headers
If C++ headers such as <cstdlib> or <thread> are used, GCC 6
will include /usr/include/stdlib.h (instead of stdlib/stdlib.h
in the glibc source directory), and this turns up as a make
dependency. An implicit rule will kick in and make will try to
install stdlib/stdlib.h as /usr/include/stdlib.h because the
target is out of date.

This commit switches to <stdlib.h> and <pthread.h> instead of
<cstdlib> and <thread>.

47dd3543d3 Bug 20198: quick_exit should not call destructors.
In C++11 18.5.12 says "Objects shall not be destroyed as a
result of calling quick_exit." In C11 quick_exit is silent
about thread object destruction. Therefore to make glibc
C++ compliant we do not call any thread local destructors.
A new regression test verifies the fix.

I will note that C++11 18.5.3 makes it clear that C++
defines additional requirements for _Exit() to prevent it
from executing destructors.

Given that the point of _Exit() is to terminate the process
immediately it makes sense the C and C++ should line up
and avoid calling destructors.

No failures. New regtest passes.

8f5e8b01a1 Fix nan functions handling of payload strings (bug 16961, bug 16962).
The nan, nanf and nanl functions handle payload strings by doing e.g.:

  if (tagp[0] != '\0')
    {
      char buf[6 + strlen (tagp)];
      sprintf (buf, "NAN(%s)", tagp);
      return strtod (buf, NULL);
    }

This is an unbounded stack allocation based on the length of the
argument. Furthermore, if the argument starts with an n-char-sequence
followed by ')', that n-char-sequence is wrongly treated as
significant for determining the payload of the resulting NaN, when ISO
C says the call should be equivalent to strtod ("NAN", NULL), without
being affected by that initial n-char-sequence. This patch fixes both
those problems by using the __strtod_nan etc. functions recently
factored out of strtod etc. for that purpose, with those functions
being exported from libc at version GLIBC_PRIVATE.

Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 and powerpc.

e02cabecf0 Refactor strtod parsing of NaN payloads.
The nan* functions handle their string argument by constructing a
NAN(...) string on the stack as a VLA and passing it to strtod
functions.

This approach has problems discussed in bug 16961 and bug 16962: the
stack usage is unbounded, and it gives incorrect results in certain
cases where the argument is not a valid n-char-sequence.

The natural fix for both issues is to refactor the NaN payload parsing
out of strtod into a separate function that the nan* functions can
call directly, so that no temporary string needs constructing on the
stack at all. This patch does that refactoring in preparation for
fixing those bugs (but without actually using the new functions from
nan* - which will also require exporting them from libc at version
GLIBC_PRIVATE). This patch is not intended to change any user-visible
behavior, so no tests are added (fixes for the above bugs will of
course add tests for them).

This patch builds on my recent fixes for strtol and strtod issues in
Turkish locales. Given those fixes, the parsing of NaN payloads is
locale-independent; thus, the new functions do not need to take a
locale_t argument.

a7f0c5ae41 Fix strtod ("NAN(I)") in Turkish locales (bug 19266).
The implementations of strtod and related functions use
locale-specific conversions to lower case when parsing the contents of
a string NAN(n-char-sequence_opt). This has the consequence that
NAN(I) is not treated as being of that form (only the initial NAN part
is accepted). The syntax of n-char-sequence directly maps to the
ASCII letters, digits and underscore as in identifiers, so it is
unambiguous that all ASCII letters must be accepted in all locales.

This patch, relative to a tree with
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-11/msg00258.html> (pending
review) applied and depending on that patch, fixes this problem by
checking directly for ASCII letters. This will have the side effect
of no longer accepting 'İ' (dotted 'I') inside NAN() in Turkish
locales, which seems appropriate (that letter wouldn't have been
interpreted as having any meaning in the NaN payload anyway, as not
acceptable to strtoull).

Tested for x86_64 and x86.

f5eee5c72b Fix strtol in Turkish locales (bug 19242).
The implementations of strtol and related functions use
locale-specific conversions to upper case before determining whether a
character is a valid letter in the argument. This means that in
Turkish locales such as tr_TR.UTF-8 and tr_TR.ISO-8859-9, "i" is
interpreted as not being a valid number, when if the base passed to
strtol is 19 or more it should be interpreted as the number 18.

ISO C explicitly says "The letters from a (or A) through z (or Z) are
ascribed the values 10 through 35", so clearly intends the standard
ASCII letters (otherwise you wouldn't generally have exactly 26
letters to ascribe such values) (whereas white-space must be
identified according to the locale). In particular, 'i' and 'I' must
be understood to be in that sequence.

This patch makes the code do the case conversions and classification
in the C locale; the user's locale remains used for whitespace testing
(explicitly correct according to ISO C). Note that the way the code
worked, the only non-ASCII letter that would previously have been
accepted would have been the Turkish 'ı' (dotless 'i'), because the
uppercase version of that in Turkish locales is 'I'. This patch means
that will no longer be accepted, which seems appropriate.

Tested for x86_64 and x86.

f1d237df1e Remove GCC version conditionals on -Wmaybe-uninitialized pragmas.
One common case of __GNUC_PREREQ (4, 7) conditionals is use of
diagnostic control pragmas for -Wmaybe-uninitialized, an option
introduced in GCC 4.7 where older GCC needed -Wuninitialized to be
controlled instead if the warning appeared with older GCC. This patch
removes such conditionals.

(There remain several older uses of -Wno-uninitialized in makefiles
that still need to be converted to diagnostic control pragmas if the
issue is still present with current sources and supported GCC
versions, and it's likely that in most cases those pragmas also will
end up controlling -Wmaybe-uninitialized.)

80d9be8122 Convert miscellaneous function definitions to prototype style.
This patch converts various miscellaneous functions definitions in
glibc, found with grep and not covered by my previous scripted
conversions, from old-style K&R to prototype-style. These changes
were made manually. This is not necessarily exhaustive as formatting
variants may have prevented my grep from finding some such
definitions.

Regarding the changes to files from GMP, they may originally have been
omitted when removing __STDC__ conditionals because of the files
coming from another package, but (a) GMP no longer has __STDC__
conditionals there anyway and (b) we don't try to keep these files
verbatim in sync with GMP (and there are licensing differences), so
making the change to them in glibc seems reasonable.

9dd346ff43 Convert 113 more function definitions to prototype style (files with assertions).
This mostly automatically-generated patch converts 113 function
definitions in glibc from old-style K&R to prototype-style. Following
my other recent such patches, this one deals with the case of function
definitions in files that either contain assertions or where grep
suggested they might contain assertions - and thus where it isn't
possible to use a simple object code comparison as a sanity check on
the correctness of the patch, because line numbers are changed.

A few such automatically-generated changes needed to be supplemented
by manual changes for the result to compile. openat64 had a prototype
declaration with "..." but an old-style definition in
sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/dl-openat64.c, and "..." needed adding to the
generated prototype in the definition (I've filed
<https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=68024> for diagnosing
such cases in GCC; the old state was undefined behavior not requiring
a diagnostic, but one seems a good idea). In addition, as Florian has
noted regparm attribute mismatches between declaration and definition
are only diagnosed for prototype definitions, and five functions
needed internal_function added to their definitions (in the case of
__pthread_mutex_cond_lock, via the macro definition of
__pthread_mutex_lock) to compile on i386.

After this patch is in, remaining old-style definitions are probably
most readily fixed manually before we can turn on
-Wold-style-definition for all builds.

41075ae3e7 Convert 29 more function definitions to prototype style (multiple parameters in one K&R parameter declaration).
This automatically-generated patch converts 29 function definitions in
glibc (including one in an example in the manual) from old-style K&R
to prototype-style. Following my other recent such patches, this one
deals with the case of function definitions where one K&R parameter
declaration declares multiple parameters, as in:

void
foo (a, b)
     int a, *b;
{
}

Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that installed stripped
shared libraries are unchanged by the patch).

9d46370ca3 Convert 703 function definitions to prototype style.
This automatically-generated patch converts 703 function definitions
in glibc from old-style K&R to prototype-style.

This conversion is deliberately simplistic, excluding any tricky cases
as even a patch covering only simple cases is still very large.
Currently excluded are: sysdeps files (to improve test coverage for
the initial patch); files containing assertions (to avoid line number
changes so that generated libraries can be compared); any cases where
the generated function declaration would involve lines over 79
characters and so need to be wrapped; any cases with array parameters
or other cases where parameter declarators don't end with the
parameter name; any other cases that my script didn't parse.

I didn't try to make the ChangeLog generation indicate when function
definitions are conditional; it just lists the functions changed
without regard to that.

Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that installed stripped
shared libraries are unchanged by the patch).

d96164c330 Refactor code forcing underflow exceptions.
Various floating-point functions have code to force underflow
exceptions if a tiny result was computed in a way that might not have
resulted in such exceptions even though the result is inexact. This
typically uses math_force_eval to ensure that the underflowing
expression is evaluated, but sometimes uses volatile.

This patch refactors such code to use three new macros
math_check_force_underflow, math_check_force_underflow_nonneg and
math_check_force_underflow_complex (which in turn use
math_force_eval). In the limited number of cases not suited to a
simple conversion to these macros, existing uses of volatile are
changed to use math_force_eval instead. The converted code does not
always execute exactly the same sequence of operations as the original
code, but the overall effects should be the same.

Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 and powerpc.

54142c44e9 Use math_narrow_eval more consistently.
Where glibc code needs to avoid excess range and precision in
floating-point arithmetic, code variously uses either asms or volatile
to force the results of that arithmetic to memory; mostly this is
conditional on FLT_EVAL_METHOD, but in the case of lrint / llrint
functions some use of volatile is unconditional (and is present
unnecessarily in versions for long double). This patch make such code
use the recently-added math_narrow_eval macro consistently, removing
the unnecessary uses of volatile in long double lrint / llrint
implementations completely.

Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 and powerpc.
