bfb0deb355 Fix make-syscalls.sh VDSO support for GCC 8.
sysdeps/unix/make-syscalls.sh has support, used only by x32, for
generating IFUNCs for kernel VDSO symbols. This support creates
IFUNCs by setting symbol types manually, which is bad for debug info
and does not work with current GCC mainline because it results in
errors from the checks on types of function aliases.

This patch fixes it to use the common __ifunc macro, which uses the
ifunc attribute when available and so works with GCC mainline. Note
however that the original error resulted from an indirect inclusion of
a header declaring __gettimeofday from the generated sources, and
using __ifunc now relies on such an indirect inclusion remaining as it
means use of __typeof to determine the correct types. If glibc's
headers change in such a way as to remove that indirect inclusion, it
will become necessary to change the syscalls.list syntax for VDSO
syscalls so the name of the header to include can be specified.

Tested (compilation only) with build-many-glibcs.py that this fixes
the build for x32 with GCC mainline.

	* sysdeps/unix/make-syscalls.sh: Use __ifunc to define symbols
	using VDSO.

ebd6f0076a Remove cancellation support for syscall generation
This patch removes the cancellation mark from the auto-generation syscall
script. Now all the cancellable syscalls are done throught C code using
the SYSCALL_CANCEL macro. It simplifies the assembly required to each
architecture port, since the SYSCALL_CANCEL uses the already defined
INLINE_SYSCALL macros, and allows a more straigh fix on cancellation
machanism (since no more specific assembly fixes will be required).

Checked on i686-linux-gnu, x86_64-linux-gnu, x86_64-linux-gnux32,
aarch64-linux-gnu, arm-linux-gnueabihf, and powerpc64le-linux-gnu.A
Also with build-many-glibc.py with remaning touched architectures.

de6591238b Do not stack-protect ifunc resolvers [BZ #7065]
When dynamically linking, ifunc resolvers are called before TLS is
initialized, so they cannot be safely stack-protected.

We avoid disabling stack-protection on large numbers of files by
using __attribute__ ((__optimize__ ("-fno-stack-protector")))
to turn it off just for the resolvers themselves. (We provide
the attribute even when statically linking, because we will later
use it elsewhere too.)

eed3e1eb79 Make obsolete syscall wrappers into compat symbols (bug 18472).
Various Linux kernel syscalls have become obsolete over time.
Specifically, the following are obsolete in all kernel versions
supported by glibc, are not present for architectures more recently
added to the kernel, and as such, the wrapper functions for them
should be compat symbols, not in static libc and not available for new
links with shared libc.

* bdflush: in Linux 2.6, does nothing if present.

* create_module get_kernel_syms query_module: Linux 2.4 module
  interface, syscalls not present in Linux 2.6.

* uselib: part of the mechanism for loading a.out shared libraries,
  irrelevant with ELF.

This patch adds support for syscalls.list to list syscall aliases of
the form NAME@VERSION:OBSOLETED, with SHLIB_COMPAT conditionals being
generated for such aliases. Those five syscalls are then made into
compat symbols (obsoleted in glibc 2.23, so future ports won't have
these symbols at all), with the header <sys/kdaemon.h> declaring
bdflush being removed. When we move to 3.2 as minimum kernel version,
the same can be done for nfsservctl (removed in Linux 3.1) as well.

Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, as well as checking that the
symbols in question indeed become compat symbols, that they are indeed
omitted from static libc, and that the generated SHLIB_COMPAT
conditionals look right).

	[BZ #18472]

c21d37deb2 Create hidden aliases for non-libc syscalls automatically.
The syscall wrappers mechanism automatically creates hidden aliases
for syscalls with libc_hidden_def / libc_hidden_weak. The use of
libc_hidden_* has the side-effect that for syscall wrappers in
non-libc libraries those aliases are not created. In turn, this means
that three mq_* syscalls in sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/syscalls.list list
the __GI_* names explicitly.

The use of libc_hidden_* dates back to the original introduction of
that support in

2002-08-03  Roland McGrath  <roland@redhat.com>

        * sysdeps/unix/make-syscalls.sh: Generate libc_hidden_def or
        libc_hidden_weak for every system call symbol defined.

(predating the non-libc syscalls in question) and I see no reason for
excluding non-libc syscalls. This patch changes the code to use
hidden_def / hidden_weak (via a wrapper syscall_hidden_def in the case
where the argument is itself a macro, so that the argument gets
expanded before concatenation with __GI_), so avoiding the need to
specify the hidden aliases explicitly in this case.

Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that disassembly of
installed stripped shared libraries is unchanged by the patch; the
mq_* symbols change from weak to strong, which is of no significance
and two of them will shortly change back to weak as part of a fix for
bug 18545).

	hidden_def and hidden_weak instead of libc_hidden_def and

f7b425175c Support and use mixed compat/non-compat aliases in syscalls.list.
This patch enables syscalls.list entries to specify both compat and
non-compat symbol versions for the same syscall definition, making use
of this for setrlimit / chown / lchown where the inability to specify
such aliases showed up in the course of work on bug 14138.

The change to make-syscalls.sh is minimal: adding a SHARED conditional
on the compat_symbol calls. It remains the case that if a compat
symbol version is specified, the syscall is only built for the shared
library at all if an explicit symbol version is given for a non-compat
symbol (so it's necessary to specify "lchown@@GLIBC_2.0
chown@GLIBC_2.0" rather than just "lchown chown@GLIBC_2.0"). It also
remains the case, as already commented in make-syscalls.sh, that no
SHLIB_COMPAT conditionals are generated, so there would be problems if
the same syscalls.list file, with compat symbols, were used for both
configurations that should have those symbols and configurations for
which they should be conditioned out with SHLIB_COMPAT.

Tested for x86.

0a834ddecb don't use Bash-specific ${parameter/pattern/string} expansion
sysdeps/unix/make-syscalls.sh and sysdeps/unix/Makefile use GNU Bash's
${parameter/pattern/string} parameter expansion.  Non-Bash shells (e.g.
dash or BusyBox ash when built with CONFIG_ASH_BASH_COMPAT disabled)
don't support this expansion syntax. So glibc will fail to build when
$(SHELL) expands to a path that isn't provided by Bash.

An example build failure:

    for dir in [...]; do \
      test -f $dir/syscalls.list && \
      { sysdirs='[...]' \
        asm_CPP='gcc -c    -I[...]   -D_LIBC_REENTRANT -include include/libc-symbols.h       -DASSEMBLER  -g -Wa,--noexecstack   -E -x assembler-with-cpp' \
        /bin/sh sysdeps/unix/make-syscalls.sh $dir || exit 1; }; \
      test $dir = sysdeps/unix && break; \
    done > [build-dir]/sysd-syscallsT
    sysdeps/unix/make-syscalls.sh: line 273: syntax error: bad substitution

This patch simply replaces the three instances of the Bash-only syntax
in these files with an echo and sed command substitution.
