d51f99ce80 Y2038: Add 64-bit time for all architectures
glibc support for 64-bit time_t on 32-bit architectures
will involve:

- Using 64-bit times inside glibc, with conversions
  to and from 32-bit times taking place as necessary
  for interfaces using such times.

- Adding 64-bit-time support in the glibc public API.
  This support should be dynamic, i.e. glibc should
  provide both 32-bit and 64-bit implementations and
   let user code choose at compile time whether to use
   the 32-bit or 64-bit interfaces.

This requires a glibc-internal name for a type for times
that are always 64-bit.

Based on __TIMESIZE, a new macro is defined, __TIME64_T_TYPE,
 which is always the right __*_T_TYPE to hold a 64-bit-time.
__TIME64_T_TYPE equals __TIME_T_TYPE if __TIMESIZE equals 64
and equals __SQUAD_T_TYPE otherwise.

__time64_t can then replace uses of internal_time_t.

This patch was tested by running 'make check' on branch
master then applying this patch and its predecessor and
running 'make check' again, and checking that both 'make
check' yield identical results. This was done on
x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu.

	* bits/time64.h: New file.
	* include/time.h: Replace internal_time_t with __time64_t.
	* posix/bits/types (__time64_t): Add.
	* stdlib/Makefile: Add bits/time64.h to includes.
	* time/tzfile.c: Replace internal_time_t with __time64_t.

15081be993 Define char16_t, char32_t consistently with uint_least16_t, uint_least32_t (bug 17979).
As noted in bug 17979 (and as I noted earlier in
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2012-02/msg00647.html>), uchar.h
has gratuitously complicated code to determine the types for char16_t
and char32_t, and to reject including that header for pre-C11
compilers not defining __CHAR16_TYPE__ and __CHAR32_TYPE__. Since
those types are always required to match uint_least16_t and
uint_least32_t, which glibc knows how to define without reference to
such predefined macros, it's safe just to define those types the same
as the *least* types are defined in stdint.h, so allowing the header
to work with (for example) GCC 4.3.

This patch implements that. bits/types.h is made to define
__int_leastN_t and __uint_leastN_t so the logic for those types can
stay in a single place, and stdint.h is made to use those __*_t to
define the public *_t types. uchar.h is then made to use
__uint_least16_t and __uint_least32_t to define char16_t and char32_t,
so simplifying the logic there. A new test is added that verifies the
types chosen for char16_t and char32_t do indeed match the types the
compiler uses for u"" and U"" string literals.

Tested for x86_64. (I have not tested with any of the older compilers
for which this would actually make a difference to whether you can
include uchar.h.)

625fb764b4 Correct type of SSIZE_MAX for 32-bit (bug 13575).
Bug 13575 reports that SSIZE_MAX is wrongly defined as LONG_MAX on
32-bit systems where ssize_t is defined as int (which is most 32-bit
systems supported by glibc).

This patch fixes the definition, using a conditional on
__WORDSIZE32_SIZE_ULONG to determine the appropriate type in the
32-bit case. Formally ssize_t need not be the signed type
corresponding to size_t, but as it is for all current glibc
configurations, there is no need for a new macro different from the
one used for defining SIZE_MAX. A testcase is added for both the type
and the value of SSIZE_MAX.

There is a relevant peculiarity in
sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/s390/bits/typesizes.h:

/* Compatibility with g++ 2.95.x.  */
/* size_t is unsigned long int on s390 -m31.  */

This has the effect that for GCC 2 for s390, ssize_t does not match
__WORDSIZE32_SIZE_ULONG. I don't think such a conditional on the GCC
version makes sense - to have a well-defined ABI, the choices of
standard types should not depend on the GCC version. It's also the
case that upstream GCC 2.95 did not support s390, and glibc headers
don't in general try to support past development GCC versions - only
actual releases and current mainline development. But whether or not
that GCC 2 case should be removed (with or without a NEWS entry for
such a change), this patch does not result in any changes for s390;
the value is always still LONG_MAX in the s390 case because
__WORDSIZE32_SIZE_ULONG is always defined for 32-bit s390.  I don't
think any such oddity in code only active for unofficial or unreleased
old compiler versions should block closing the present bug as fixed
once this patch is in.

Tested for x86_64 and x86, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

24d9f53ab0 Remove __qaddr_t.
bits/types.h defines a type __qaddr_t that is not used anywhere in
glibc. It doesn't appear to be widely used outside glibc either
(judging by codesearch.debian.net, where hits are generally copies of
definitions of this type, not uses), so it seems appropriate to remove
this type, which this patch does.

Tested for x86_64.

	* posix/bits/types.h (__qaddr_t): Remove.

46ee3da55e Remove __need_schedparam and __cpu_set_t_defined.
bits/sched.h has logic to expose only an impl-namespace variant of
struct sched_param (i.e. struct __sched_param), but nothing uses it,
and the only header that includes bits/sched.h is sched.h. The
__need_schedparam logic can therefore be removed.

bits/sched.h also has a great deal of code relating to cpu_set_t
objects that was *almost* the same between the two versions of
bits/sched.h in the tree; a little spelunking indicated that this is
because some bug fixes got applied to the Linux-specific bits/sched.h
but not the generic one. Introduce a new header, bits/cpu-set.h,
containing the version of that code with the bugfixes, have sched.h
include it directly, and delete all of the code from both versions of
bits/sched.h.

Also remove the unnecessary name mangling in the definition of struct
sched_param -- POSIX specifies a field 'sched_priority', so there is
no reason to define it as '__sched_priority' and then paper over that
with a macro. (Just in case someone was using the internal name,
'sched_priority' remains a macro defined to expand to itself, and
'__sched_priority' now expands to 'sched_priority'.)

Finally, as long as I'm touching these files anyway, merge new
constants from linux/sched.h into the Linux bits/sched.h.

	* bits/sched.h: Remove __need_schedparam logic and replace with a
	normal multiple-include guard. Change field name in struct
	sched_param from __sched_priority to sched_priority.  Delete
	everything under #ifndef __cpu_set_t_defined.
	* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/bits/sched.h: Likewise. Also sync with
	kernel sched.h, adding SCHED_ISO and SCHED_DEADLINE constants.

	* posix/sched.h: Include bits/cpu-set.h as well as bits/sched.h.
	For compatibility, #define sched_priority to itself, and #define
	__sched_priority as sched_priority.
	* posix/bits/cpu-set.h: New file containing, verbatim, the code
	that was under #ifndef __cpu_set_t_defined in
	sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/bits/sched.h.
	* include/bits/cpu-set.h: New wrapper.
	* posix/Makefile: Install bits/cpu-set.h.

a992f506ff Remove __need macros from signal.h.
The types affected are __sig_atomic_t, sig_atomic_t, __sigset_t,
sigset_t, sigval_t, sigevent_t, and siginfo_t. __sig_atomic_t is a
scalar, so it's now directly available from bits/types.h. The others
get bits/types/ headers.

Side effects include: There have been small changes to which
non-signal headers expose which subset of the signal-related types.
A couple of architectures' nested siginfo_t fields had to be renamed
to prevent undesired macro expansion. Internal code that wants to
manipulate signal masks must now include <sigsetops.h> (which is not
installed) and should be aware that __sigaddset, __sigandset,
__sigdelset, __sigemptyset, and __sigorset no longer return a value
(unlike the public API). Relatedly, the public signal.h no longer
declares any of those functions. The obsolete sigmask() macro no
longer has a system-specific definition -- in the cases where it
matters, it didn't work anyway.

New Linux architectures should create bits/siginfo-arch.h and/or
bits/siginfo-consts-arch.h to customize their siginfo_t, rather than
duplicating everything in bits/siginfo.h (which no longer exists).
Add new __SI_* macros if necessary. Ports to other operating systems
are strongly encouraged to generalize this scheme further.

10a33cf8b4 getopt: eliminate __need_getopt by splitting up getopt.h.
__need_getopt is misnamed; what it really means is "we want only the
getopt features specified in POSIX, not the GNU extensions". Because
this code is shared with gnulib, it winds up being cleanest to split

c03073774f Make _REENTRANT and _THREAD_SAFE aliases for _POSIX_C_SOURCE=199506L.
For many years, the only effect of these macros has been to make
unistd.h declare getlogin_r.  _POSIX_C_SOURCE >= 199506L also causes
this function to be declared. However, people who don't carefully
read all the headers might be confused into thinking they need to
define _REENTRANT for any threaded code (as was indeed the case a long
time ago).

Therefore, remove __USE_REENTRANT, and make _REENTRANT and _THREAD_SAFE
into synonyms for _POSIX_C_SOURCE=199506L. This will only affect
programs that don't select a higher conformance level some other way.
For instance, -std=c89 -D_REENTRANT will see a change in visible
declarations, but -std=c99 -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=200809L -D_REENTRANT won't,
and -D_REENTRANT all by itself also won't, because _DEFAULT_SOURCE
implies _POSIX_C_SOURCE > 199506.

	* include/features.h: Remove __USE_REENTRANT.  Treat _REENTRANT
	and _THREAD_SAFE the same as _POSIX_C_SOURCE=199506L, if a higher
	POSIX conformance level has not been selected by other macros.

acd7f096d7 Complete _BSD_SOURCE / _SVID_source followup cleanup.
This patch completes the headers cleanup consequent on removal of
_BSD_SOURCE and _SVID_SOURCE (apart from any subsequent deprecations):

* #endif conditionals that referred to BSD or SVID are updated.

* Redundant __USE_* tests in cases involving __USE_MISC are removed.
  This includes cases such as __USE_MISC || __USE_ISOC99, where
  __USE_MISC is redundant (because __USE_MISC is only ever defined in
  the default / _DEFAULT_SOURCE / _GNU_SOURCE case, when __USE_ISOC99
  is also defined; the same applies to the non-XSI-extended POSIX
  versions), and cases involving __USE_GNU, where __USE_GNU is
  redundant (because if __USE_GNU is defined, so are the other __USE_*
  macros). There may well be other cases of __USE_FOO || __USE_BAR
  tests that could be simplified because one macro implies the other;
  this patch only addresses cases involving __USE_MISC.

498afc54df Combine __USE_BSD and __USE_SVID into __USE_MISC.
This patch cleans up following the obsoletion of _BSD_SOURCE and
_SVID_SOURCE by combining __USE_BSD and __USE_SVID into __USE_MISC.

The only non-mechanical part of this patch is the changes to
features.h; everything else is simple substitution of __USE_MISC for
the old macros. Thus, this patch leaves obviously redundant
conditionals such as "defined __USE_MISC || defined __USE_MISC", and
does not update #endif comments where they referred to BSD or SVID in
words instead of the literal macro name. This is intended to
facilitate patch review by separating the less mechanical changes from
these purely mechanical changes into a separate patch. (I do intend
to integrate all the changes from
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2013-12/msg00226.html>, which I
believe includes all the trailing comment updates, in subsequent
patches.)

Tested x86_64.
