It was added on Linux 5.9 (278a5fbaed89) with CLOSE_RANGE_CLOEXEC
added on 5.11 (582f1fb6b721f). Although FreeBSD has added the same

The symbols gai_cancel, gai_error, gai_suspend, getaddrinfo_a,
__gai_suspend_time64 were moved using scripts/move-symbol-to-libc.py.

For Hurd (which remains !PTHREAD_IN_LIBC), a few #define redirects
had to be added because several pthread functions are not available
under __. (Linux uses __ prefixes for most hidden aliases, and has
to in some cases to avoid linknamespace issues.)

The symbols were moved using scripts/move-symbol-to-libc.py.

The way the ABI intransition is implemented is changed with this
commit: the implementation is now consolidated in one file with a

The shared librt is now empty, so this commit adds a placeholder
symbol at the base version, GLIBC_2.2, and potentially at the
GLIBC_2.3.3 version as well (the leftover from the int/timer_t ABI
transition).

32e750516c Linux: Move aio_suspend, aio_suspend64, __aio_suspend_time64 to libc

47f24c21ee y2038: Add support for 64-bit time on legacy ABIs
A new build flag, _TIME_BITS, enables the usage of the newer 64-bit
time symbols for legacy ABI (where 32-bit time_t is default). The 64
bit time support is only enabled if LFS (_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64) is
also used.

Different than LFS support, the y2038 symbols are added only for the
required ABIs (armhf, csky, hppa, i386, m68k, microblaze, mips32,
mips64-n32, nios2, powerpc32, sparc32, s390-32, and sh). The ABIs with
64-bit time support are unchanged, both for symbol and types
redirection.

On Linux the full 64-bit time support requires a minimum of kernel
version v5.1. Otherwise, the 32-bit fallbacks are used and might
results in error with overflow return code (EOVERFLOW).

The i686-gnu does not yet support 64-bit time.

f13d260190 signal: Move sys_errlist to a compat symbol
The symbol is deprecated by strerror since its usage imposes some issues
such as copy relocations.

Its internal name is also changed to _sys_errlist_internal to avoid
static linking usage. The compat code is also refactored by removing
the over enginered errlist-compat.c generation from manual entried and
extra comment token in linker script file. It disantangle the code
generation from manual and simplify both Linux and Hurd compat code.

The definitions from errlist.c are moved to errlist.h and a new test
is added to avoid a new errno entry without an associated one in manual.

0c76fc3c2b Linux: Perform rseq registration at C startup and thread creation
Register rseq TLS for each thread (including main), and unregister for
each thread (excluding main). "rseq" stands for Restartable Sequences.

See the rseq(2) man page proposed here:
  https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/9/19/647

Those are based on glibc master branch commit 3ee1e0ec5c.
The rseq system call was merged into Linux 4.18.

The TLS_STATIC_SURPLUS define is increased to leave additional room for
dlopen'd initial-exec TLS, which keeps elf/tst-auditmany working.

The increase (76 bytes) is larger than 32 bytes because it has not been
increased in quite a while. The cost in terms of additional TLS storage
is quite significant, but it will also obscure some initial-exec-related
dlopen failures.

076f09afba Linux: Remove <sys/sysctl.h> and the sysctl function
Linux 5.5 remove the system call in commit
61a47c1ad3a4dc6882f01ebdc88138ac62d0df03 ("Linux: Remove
<sys/sysctl.h>"). Therefore, the compat function is just a stub that
sets ENOSYS.

Due to SHLIB_COMPAT, new ports will not add the sysctl function anymore
automatically.

x32 already lacks the sysctl function, so an empty sysctl.c file is
used to suppress it. Otherwise, a new compat symbol would be added.

446d22e91d Linux: Implement interfaces for memory protection keys
This adds system call wrappers for pkey_alloc, pkey_free, pkey_mprotect,
and x86-64 implementations of pkey_get and pkey_set, which abstract over
the PKRU CPU register and hide the actual number of memory protection
keys supported by the CPU. pkey_mprotect with a -1 key is implemented
using mprotect, so it will work even if the kernel does not support the
pkey_mprotect system call.

The system call wrapers use unsigned int instead of unsigned long for
parameters, so that no special treatment for x32 is needed. The flags
argument is currently unused, and the access rights bit mask is limited
to two bits by the current PKRU register layout anyway.

a748eb31c1 Consolidate non cancellable read call
This patch consolidates all the non cancellable read calls to use
the __read_nocancel identifier. For non cancellable targets it will
be just a macro to call the default respective symbol while on Linux
will be a internal one.

Also, since it is used on libcrypto it is also exported in GLIBC_PRIVATE
namespace.

Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu, x86_64-linux-gnu-x32, and i686-linux-gnu.

2eecc8afd0 Terminate process on invalid netlink response from kernel [BZ #12926]
The recvmsg system calls for netlink sockets have been particularly
prone to picking up unrelated data after a file descriptor race
(where the descriptor is closed and reopened concurrently in a
multi-threaded process, as the result of a file descriptor
management issue elsewhere). This commit adds additional error
checking and aborts the process if a datagram of unexpected length
(without the netlink header) is received, or an error code which
cannot happen due to the way the netlink socket is used.
