As discussed previously on libc-alpha [1], this patch follows up the idea
and add both the __attribute_alloc_size__ on malloc functions (malloc,
calloc, realloc, reallocarray, valloc, pvalloc, and memalign) and limit
maximum requested allocation size to up PTRDIFF_MAX (taking into
consideration internal padding and alignment).
This aligns glibc with gcc expected size defined by default warning
-Walloc-size-larger-than value which warns for allocation larger than
PTRDIFF_MAX. It also aligns with gcc expectation regarding libc and
expected size, such as described in PR#67999 [2] and previously discussed
ISO C11 issues [3] on libc-alpha.
From the RFC thread [4] and previous discussion, it seems that consensus
is only to limit such requested size for malloc functions, not the system
allocation one (mmap, sbrk, etc.).
The implementation changes checked_request2size to check for both overflow
and maximum object size up to PTRDIFF_MAX. No additional checks are done
on sysmalloc, so it can still issue mmap with values larger than
PTRDIFF_T depending on the requested size.
The __attribute_alloc_size__ is for functions that return a pointer only,
which means it cannot be applied to posix_memalign (see remarks in GCC
PR#87683 [5]). The runtimes checks to limit maximum requested allocation
size does applies to posix_memalign.
Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu.

Changelog:
* stdlib/isomac.c: Include <unistd.h>.
This patch updates longlong.h from GCC. There were no local changes
in glibc (the previous version was identical to the r232143 GCC
version, apart from copyright dates which had been updated in both
places), so this patch makes it identical to the version in GCC again.
Tested for x86_64 and x86. Also tested with build-many-glibcs.py for
its RISC-V configurations, as the glibc architecture with the most
substantial changes in longlong.h in this patch.
* stdlib/longlong.h: Update from GCC.
There are a lot more printf variants than there are scanf variants,
and the code for setting up and tearing down their custom FILE
variants around the call to __vf(w)printf is more complicated and
variable. Therefore, I have added _internal versions of all the
v*printf variants, rather than introducing helper routines so that
they can all directly call __vf(w)printf_internal, as was done with
scanf.
As with the scanf changes, in this patch the _internal functions still
look at the environmental mode bits and all callers pass 0 for the
flags parameter.
Several of the affected public functions had _IO_ name aliases that
were not exported (but, in one case, appeared in libio.h anyway);
I was originally planning to leave them as aliases to avoid having
to touch internal callers, but it turns out ldbl_*_alias only work
for exported symbols, so they've all been removed instead. It also
turns out there were hardly any internal callers. _IO_vsprintf and
_IO_vfprintf *are* exported, so those two stick around.
Summary for the changes to each of the affected symbols:
_IO_vfprintf, _IO_vsprintf:
All internal calls removed, thus the internal declarations, as well
as uses of libc_hidden_proto and libc_hidden_def, were also removed.
The external symbol is now exposed via uses of ldbl_strong_alias
to __vfprintf_internal and __vsprintf_internal, respectively.
_IO_vasprintf, _IO_vdprintf, _IO_vsnprintf,
_IO_vfwprintf, _IO_vswprintf,
_IO_obstack_vprintf, _IO_obstack_printf:
All internal calls removed, thus declaration in internal headers
were also removed. They were never exported, so there are no
aliases tying them to the internal functions. I.e.: entirely gone.
__vsnprintf:
Internal calls were always preceded by macros such as
#define __vsnprintf _IO_vsnprintf, and
#define __vsnprintf vsnprintf
The macros were removed and their uses replaced with calls to the
new internal function __vsnprintf_internal. Since there were no
internal calls, the internal declaration was also removed. The
external symbol is preserved with ldbl_weak_alias to ___vsnprintf.
__vfwprintf:
All internal calls converted into calls to __vfwprintf_internal,
thus the internal declaration was removed. The function is now a
wrapper that calls __vfwprintf_internal. The external symbol is
preserved.
__vswprintf:
Similarly, but no external symbol.
__vasprintf, __vdprintf, __vfprintf, __vsprintf:
New internal wrappers. Not exported.
vasprintf, vdprintf, vfprintf, vsprintf, vsnprintf,
vfwprintf, vswprintf,
obstack_vprintf, obstack_printf:
These functions used to be aliases to the respective _IO_* function,
they are now aliases to their respective __* functions.
Tested for powerpc and powerpc64le.
On platforms where long double used to have the same format as double,
but later switched to a different format (alpha, s390, sparc, and
powerpc), accessing the older behavior is possible and it happens via
__nldbl_* functions (not on the API, but accessible from header
redirection and from compat symbols). These functions write to the
global flag __ldbl_is_dbl, which tells other functions that long double
variables should be handled as double. This patch takes the first step
towards removing this global flag and creates __vstrfmon_l_internal,
which takes an explicit flags parameter.
This change arguably makes the generated code slightly worse on
architectures where __ldbl_is_dbl is never true; right now, on those
architectures, it's a compile-time constant; after this change, the
compiler could theoretically prove that __vstrfmon_l_internal was
never called with a nonzero flags argument, but it would probably need
LTO to do it. This is not performance critical code and I tend to
think that the maintainability benefits of removing action at a
distance are worth it. However, we _could_ wrap the runtime flag
check with a macro that was defined to ignore its argument and always
return false on architectures where __ldbl_is_dbl is never true, if
people think the codegen benefits are important.
Tested for powerpc and powerpc64le.
On systems without enough random-access memory, stdlib/test-bz22786
will go deeply into swap and time out, even with a substantial
TIMEOUTFACTOR. This commit adds a facility to construct repeating
strings with alias mappings, so that the requirement for physical

glibc support for 64-bit time_t on 32-bit architectures
will involve:
- Using 64-bit times inside glibc, with conversions
to and from 32-bit times taking place as necessary
for interfaces using such times.
- Adding 64-bit-time support in the glibc public API.
This support should be dynamic, i.e. glibc should
provide both 32-bit and 64-bit implementations and
let user code choose at compile time whether to use
the 32-bit or 64-bit interfaces.
This requires a glibc-internal name for a type for times
that are always 64-bit.
Based on __TIMESIZE, a new macro is defined, __TIME64_T_TYPE,
which is always the right __*_T_TYPE to hold a 64-bit-time.
__TIME64_T_TYPE equals __TIME_T_TYPE if __TIMESIZE equals 64
and equals __SQUAD_T_TYPE otherwise.
__time64_t can then replace uses of internal_time_t.
This patch was tested by running 'make check' on branch
master then applying this patch and its predecessor and
running 'make check' again, and checking that both 'make
check' yield identical results. This was done on
x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu.

* posix/bits/types (__time64_t): Add.
* stdlib/Makefile: Add bits/time64.h to includes.

To determine whether the default time_t interfaces are 32-bit
and so need conversions, or are 64-bit and so are compatible
with the internal 64-bit type without conversions, a macro
giving the size of the default time_t is also required.
This macro is called __TIMESIZE.
This macro can then be used instead of __WORDSIZE in msq-pad.h
and shm-pad.h files, which in turn allows removing their x86
variants, and in sem-pad.h files but keeping the x86 variant.
This patch was tested by running 'make check' on branch master
then applying this patch and running 'make check' again, and
checking that both 'make check' yield identical results.
This was done on x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu.

The function f1a, executed on a stack of size 32k, allocates an object of
size 32k on the stack. Make the stack variables static to reduce
excessive stack usage.
If the compiler reduces the stack usage in function f1 before calling
into function f2, then when we swapcontext back to f1 and continue
execution we may overwrite registers that were spilled to the stack
while f2 was executing. Later when we return to f2 the corrupt
registers will be reloaded from the stack and the test will crash. This
was most commonly observed on i686 with __x86.get_pc_thunk.dx and
needing to save and restore $edx. Overall i686 has few registers and
the spilling to the stack is bound to happen, therefore the solution to
making this test robust is to split function f1 into two parts f1a and
f1b, and allocate f1b it's own stack such that subsequent execution does
not overwrite the stack in use by function f2.
Tested on i686 and x86_64.

Initially, this function was restricted to _GNU_SOURCE, but experience
shows that compatibility with existing build systems is improved if we
declare it under _DEFAULT_SOURCE as well.
The test tries to allocate more than 2^31 bytes which will always fail on s390
as it has maximum 2^31bit of memory.
Before commit 6c3a8a9d86, this test returned
unsupported if malloc fails. This patch re enables this behaviour.
Furthermore support_delete_temp_files() failed to remove the temp directory
in this case as it is not empty due to the created symlink.
Thus the creation of the symlink is moved behind malloc.

Various glibc testcases use tmpnam in ways subject to race conditions
(generate a temporary file name, then later open that file without
O_EXCL).
This patch fixes those tests to use mkstemp - generally a minimal
local fix to use mkstemp instead of tmpnam, rather than a larger fix
to use other testsuite infrastructure for temporary files. The
unchanged use of tmpnam in posix/wordexp-test.c would fail safe in the

The functions encrypt, setkey, encrypt_r, setkey_r, cbc_crypt,
ecb_crypt, and des_setparity should not be used in new programs,
because they use the DES block cipher, which is unacceptably weak by
modern standards. Demote all of them to compatibility symbols, and
remove their prototypes from installed headers. cbc_crypt, ecb_crypt,
and des_setparity were already compat symbols when glibc was
configured with --disable-obsolete-rpc.
POSIX requires encrypt and setkey to be available when _XOPEN_CRYPT
is defined, so this change also removes the definition of X_OPEN_CRYPT
from <unistd.h>.
The entire "DES Encryption" section is dropped from the manual, as is
the mention of AUTH_DES and FIPS 140-2 in the introduction to
crypt.texi. The documentation of 'memfrob' cross-referenced the DES
Encryption section, which is replaced by a hyperlink to libgcrypt, and
while I was in there I spruced up the actual documentation of
'memfrob' and 'strfry' a little. It's still fairly jokey, because
those functions _are_ jokes, but they do also have real use cases, so
people trying to use them for real should have all the information
they need.
DES-based authentication for Sun RPC is also insecure and should be
deprecated or even removed, but maybe that can be left as TI-RPC's
problem.

[BZ #23007]
* stdlib/strtod_l.c (____STRTOF_INTERNAL): Return NaN of

As shown by bug 23279, strtod's round_and_return has an off-by-one
error in its overflow detection, only counting an exponent greater
than MAX_EXP as overflowing when an exponent of MAX_EXP also means
overflow (recall the ISO C definition of DBL_MAX_EXP etc. is based on
a floating-point model where 2^exp is multiplied by a value in the
interval [0.5, 1), so 2^MAX_EXP is not representable).
For decimal arguments to strtod, a separate overflow check in the main
implementation covers the case where the integer part of the argument
(truncated to the nearest integer towards zero) has more than MAX_EXP
bits, meaning that this issue in round_and_return only affects cases
(arguments with absolute value strictly between the maximum
representable value and 2^MAX_EXP) where overflow depends on the
rounding mode; in such cases, the returned value would still have been
correct on overflow but without the overflow exception being raised or
errno being set to ERANGE. For hex float arguments, however, other
cases can arise, as shown in bug 23279, where a value with exponent
already set to MAX_EXP is passed into round_and_return and a result
can wrongly end up being NaN, or infinity instead of the largest
finite value.
This patch fixes the off-by-one error, adds testing of overflow
exceptions to the tst-strtod-round framework, and adds tests of these
issues.

This patch continues the math_private.h cleanup by stopping
math_private.h from including math-barriers.h and making the users of
the barrier macros include the latter header directly. No attempt is
made to remove any math_private.h includes that are now unused, except
in strtod_l.c where that is done to avoid line number changes in
assertions, so that installed stripped shared libraries can be
compared before and after the patch. (I think the floating-point
environment support in math_private.h should also move out - some
architectures already have fenv_private.h as an architecture-internal
header included from their math_private.h - and after moving that out
might be a better time to identify unused math_private.h includes.)

This patch continues cleaning up the math_private.h header, which
contains lots of different definitions many of which are only needed
by a limited subset of files using that header (and some of which are
overridden by architectures that only want to override selected parts
of the header), by moving the math_narrow_eval macro out to a separate
math-narrow-eval.h header, only included by those files that need it.
That header is placed in include/ (since it's used in stdlib/, not
just files built in math/, but no sysdeps variants are needed at
present).
Tested for x86_64, and with build-many-glibcs.py. (Installed stripped
shared libraries change because of line numbers in assertions in

Bug 17343 reports that stdlib/random_r.c has code with undefined
behavior because of signed integer overflow on int32_t. This patch
changes the code so that the possibly overflowing computations use
unsigned arithmetic instead.
Note that the bug report refers to "Most code" in that file. The
places changed in this patch are the only ones I found where I think
such overflow can occur.

Three tests fail with a read-only source directory because they try to
write into the source directory. None of these write into it in a way
that should actually be problematic for concurrent builds sharing the
same writable source directory, but avoiding any writing into the
source directory (from testing, or from building glibc if the source
timestamps are properly ordered) is still a good idea, as being able
to build with read-only sources helps make sure there isn't anything
that could cause problems for concurrent builds.

This patch continues filling out TS 18661-3 support by adding *f64 and
*f32x function aliases, supporting _Float64 and _Float32x, as aliases
for double functions. These types are supported for all glibc
configurations. The API corresponds exactly to that for _Float128 and
_Float64x. _Float32 aliases to float functions remain to be added in
subsequent patches to complete this process (then there are a few
miscellaneous functions in TS 18661-3 to implement that aren't simply
versions of existing functions for new types).
The patch enables the feature in bits/floatn-common.h, adds symbol
versions and documentation with updates to ABI baselines, and arranges
for the libm functions for the new types to be tested. As with the
_Float64x changes there are some x86 ulps updates because of header
inlines not used for the new types (and one other change to the
non-multiarch libm-test-ulps, which I suppose comes from using a
different compiler version / configuration from when it was last
regenerated).

This patch continues filling out TS 18661-3 support by adding *f64x
function aliases on platforms with _Float64x support. (It so happens
the set of such platforms is exactly the same as the set of platforms
with _Float128 support, although on x86_64, x86 and ia32 the _Float64x
format is Intel extended rather than binary128.) The API provided
corresponds exactly to that provided for _Float128, mostly coming from
TS 18661-3. As these functions always alias those for another type
(long double, _Float128 or both), __* function names are not provided,
as in other cases of alias types.
Given the preparation done in previous patches, this one just enables
the feature via Makeconfig and bits/floatn.h, adds symbol versions,
and updates documentation and ABI baselines. The symbol versions are
present unconditionally as GLIBC_2.27 in the relevant Versions files,
as it's OK for those to specify versions for functions that may not be
present in some configurations; no additional complexity is needed
unless in future some configuration gains support for this type that
didn't have such support in 2.27. The Makeconfig additions for ia64
and x86 aren't strictly needed, as those configurations also get
float64x-alias-fcts definitions from
sysdeps/ieee754/float128/Makeconfig, but still seem appropriate given
that _Float64x is not _Float128 for those configurations.
A libm-test-ulps update for x86 is included. This is because
bits/mathinline.h does not have _Float64x support added and for two
functions the use of out-of-line functions results in increased ulps
(ifloat64x shares ulps with ildouble / ifloat128 as appropriate).
Given that we'd like generally to eliminate bits/mathinline.h
optimizations, preferring to have such optimizations in GCC instead,
it seems reasonable not to add such support there for new types. GCC
support for _FloatN / _FloatNx built-in functions is limited, but has
been improved in GCC 8, and at some point I hope the full set of libm
built-in functions in GCC, and other optimizations with
per-floating-type aspects, will be enabled for all _FloatN / _FloatNx
types.
Tested for x86_64 and x86, and with build-many-glibcs.py, with both
GCC 6 and GCC 7.

The tst-strtod-round-skeleton.c conditionals relating to handling of
_Float64x require associated <float.h> macros, which requires

With support for _Float128 functions on platforms where that type has
the same ABI as long double, as well as on platforms where it is
ABI-distinct, those functions will need to be exported from glibc's
shared libraries at appropriate symbol versions in each case.
This patch avoids duplication of lists of symbols to export by moving
the symbols other than __* to math/Versions and stdlib/Versions.
There, they are conditional on <float128-abi.h> defining
FLOAT128_VERSION and a default version of that header is added that
does not define that macro. Enabling the float128 function aliases
will then include adding a sysdeps/ieee754/ldbl-128/float128-abi.h
that defines FLOAT128_VERSION to GLIBC_2.27. Symbols __* remain in
sysdeps/ieee754/float128/Versions; those symbols should be present
only once per floating-point format, not once per type.
Note that if any platforms currently lacking support for a type with
binary128 format get glibc support for such a type in future (whether
only as _Float128, or also as a new long double format), and new libm
functions (present for all types) have been added by then, additional
macros will be needed to allow such functions to get a version of the
form "GLIBC_2.28 if the platform had _Float128 support by then, or the
later version at which that platform had _Float128 support added".
This is not however a preexisting condition, but would have applied
equally to the existing support for _Float128 as an ABI-distinct
type. New all-type libm functions should just be added to the
appropriate symbol version (currently GLIBC_2.27) for all types, with
such special-case handling for _Float128 versions (and _Float64x as
well in future) waiting until someone actually wants to add support
for _Float128 to an existing platform after a release in which that
platform and a post-2.26 libm function had support but that platform
lacked _Float128 support.

Hide internal __new_exitfn function to allow direct access within libc.so
and libc.a without using GOT nor PLT.
[BZ #18822]
* stdlib/exit.h (__new_exitfn): Add attribute_hidden.
POSIX requires that dlclose() and exit() be thread safe, therefore
you can have one thread in the middle of dlclose() and another thread
executing exit() without causing any undefined behaviour on the part
of the implementation.
The existing implementation had a flaw that exit() exit handler processing
did not consider a concurrent dlclose() and would not mark already run
exit handlers using the ef_free flavour. The consequence of this is that
a concurrent exit() with dlclose() will run all the exit handlers that
dlclose() had not yet run, but then will block on the loader lock. The
concurrent dlclose() will continue to run all the exit handlers again
(twice) in violation of the Itanium C++ ABI requirements for __cxa_atexit().
This commit fixes this by having exit() mark all handlers with ef_free to
ensure that concurrent dlclose() won't re-run registered exit handlers that
have already run.
Hide internal printf functions to allow direct access within libc.so and
libc.a without using GOT nor PLT.

sys/cdefs.h has a macro __long_double_t used in two places in glibc.
long double is a standard part of C since C89; there is no need for
such an alias for it. This patch removes that macro and uses long
double directly everywhere. As an implementation-namespace,
undocumented symbol, it should not be considered part of the API for
users, and codesearch.debian.net shows no sign of it being used
outside glibc in a way that would break with this patch.
Tested for x86_64.

The return type of the getentropy stub is wrongly defined as ssize_t,

Changelog:
* stdlib/getentropy.c (getentropy): Change return type to int.
The macro F128 in stdlib/tst-strtod.h is defined to provide the literal
suffix for _Float128 constants. It uses the macro __f128 (), which is
defined in bits/floatn.h to provide the correct literal suffix depending on
what is provided by the compiler.
However, F128 was not being expanded and only worked correctly, when
compiling with GCC 7 (or greater), since F128 is the literal suffix itself.
This patch adds an additional macro expansion so that the macro F128
expands to the correct literal suffix on older compilers.
* stdlib/tst-strtod.h (MMFUNC): New macro to provide an addition
macro expansion.
(GEN_TEST_STRTOD_FOREACH): Use MMFUNC for _Float128.
<locale.h> is specified to define locale_t in POSIX.1-2008, and so are
all of the headers that define functions that take locale_t arguments.
Under _GNU_SOURCE, the additional headers that define such functions
have also always defined locale_t. Therefore, there is no need to use
__locale_t in public function prototypes, nor in any internal code.

Change all uses of __locale_t to locale_t.
xlocale.h is already a single-type micro-header, defining struct
__locale_struct and the typedefs __locale_t and locale_t. This patch
brings it into the bits/types/ scheme: there are now
bits/types/__locale_t.h which defines only __locale_struct and
__locale_t, and bits/types/locale_t.h which defines locale_t as well
as the other two. None of *our* headers need __locale_t.h, but it
appears to me that libstdc++ could make use of it.
There are a lot of external uses of xlocale.h, but all the uses I
checked had an autoconf test or equivalent for its existence. It has
never been available from other C libraries, and it has always
contained a comment reading "This file is not standardized, don't rely
on it, it can go away without warning" so I think dropping it is
pretty safe.
I also took the opportunity to clean up comments in various public
header files that still talk about the *_l interfaces as though they
were completely nonstandard. There are a few of them, notably the
strtoX_l and wcstoX_l families, that haven't been standardized, but
the bulk are in POSIX.1-2008.

This is fairly complicated, not because the users of __need_Emath and
__need_error_t have complicated requirements, but because the core
changes had a lot of fallout.
__need_error_t exists for gnulib compatibility in argz.h and argp.h.
error_t itself is a Hurdism, an enum containing all the E-constants,
so you can do 'p (error_t) errno' in gdb and get a symbolic value.
argz.h and argp.h use it for function return values, and they want to
fall back to 'int' when that's not available. There is no reason why
these nonstandard headers cannot just go ahead and include all of
errno.h; so we do that.
__need_Emath is defined only by .S files; what they _really_ need is
for errno.h to avoid declaring anything other than the E-constants
(e.g. 'extern int __errno_location(void);' is a syntax error in
assembly language). This is replaced with a check for __ASSEMBLER__ in
errno.h, plus a carefully documented requirement for bits/errno.h not
to define anything other than macros. That in turn has the
consequence that bits/errno.h must not define errno - fortunately, all
live ports use the same definition of errno, so I've moved it to
errno.h. The Hurd bits/errno.h must also take care not to define
error_t when __ASSEMBLER__ is defined, which involves repeating all of
the definitions twice, but it's a generated file so that's okay.
* stdlib/errno.h: Remove __need_Emath and __need_error_t logic.

In stdlib/gmp-impl.h, the macros MAX and MIN are defined exactly the same
as in sys/param.h. This patch removes the redefinition and makes
gmp-impl.h include sys/param.h instead.
Tested for powerpc64le and s390x.
* stdlib/gmp-impl.h: Include sys/param.h instead of redefining the
macros MAX and MIN.
The types affected are __sig_atomic_t, sig_atomic_t, __sigset_t,
sigset_t, sigval_t, sigevent_t, and siginfo_t. __sig_atomic_t is a
scalar, so it's now directly available from bits/types.h. The others
get bits/types/ headers.
Side effects include: There have been small changes to which
non-signal headers expose which subset of the signal-related types.
A couple of architectures' nested siginfo_t fields had to be renamed
to prevent undesired macro expansion. Internal code that wants to
manipulate signal masks must now include <sigsetops.h> (which is not
installed) and should be aware that __sigaddset, __sigandset,
__sigdelset, __sigemptyset, and __sigorset no longer return a value
(unlike the public API). Relatedly, the public signal.h no longer
declares any of those functions. The obsolete sigmask() macro no
longer has a system-specific definition -- in the cases where it
matters, it didn't work anyway.
New Linux architectures should create bits/siginfo-arch.h and/or
bits/siginfo-consts-arch.h to customize their siginfo_t, rather than
duplicating everything in bits/siginfo.h (which no longer exists).
Add new __SI_* macros if necessary. Ports to other operating systems
are strongly encouraged to generalize this scheme further.

This patch adds a new build module called 'testsuite'.
IS_IN (testsuite) implies _ISOMAC, as do IS_IN_build and __cplusplus
(which means several ad-hoc tests for __cplusplus can go away).
libc-symbols.h now suppresses almost all of *itself* when _ISOMAC is
defined; in particular, _ISOMAC mode does not get config.h
automatically anymore.
There are still quite a few tests that need to see internal gunk of
one variety or another. For them, we now have 'tests-internal' and
'test-internal-extras'; files in this category will still be compiled
with MODULE_NAME=nonlib, and everything proceeds as it always has.
The bulk of this patch is moving tests from 'tests' to
'tests-internal'. There is also 'tests-static-internal', which has
the same effect on files in 'tests-static', and 'modules-names-tests',
which has the *inverse* effect on files in 'modules-names' (it's
inverted because most of the things in modules-names are *not* tests).
For both of these, the file must appear in *both* the new variable and
the old one.
There is also now a special case for when libc-symbols.h is included
without MODULE_NAME being defined at all. (This happens during the
creation of libc-modules.h, and also when preprocessing Versions
files.) When this happens, IS_IN is set to be always false and
_ISOMAC is *not* defined, which was the status quo, but now it's
explicit.
The remaining changes to C source files in this patch seemed likely to
cause problems in the absence of the main change. They should be
relatively self-explanatory. In a few cases I duplicated a definition
from an internal header rather than move the test to tests-internal;
this was a judgement call each time and I'm happy to change those
however reviewers feel is more appropriate.
* Makerules: New subdir configuration variables 'tests-internal'
and 'test-internal-extras'. Test files in these categories will
still be compiled with MODULE_NAME=nonlib. Test files in the
existing categories (tests, xtests, test-srcs, test-extras) are
now compiled with MODULE_NAME=testsuite.
New subdir configuration variable 'modules-names-tests'. Files
which are in both 'modules-names' and 'modules-names-tests' will
be compiled with MODULE_NAME=testsuite instead of
MODULE_NAME=extramodules.

conform/ namespace tests of arpa/inet.h, netdb.h and netinet/in.h fail
for UNIX98 and XPG42 because of inclusion of stdint.h, which defines
macros not permitted in those headers for those standards. UNIX98
allows them to include inttypes.h, but (predating C99) has restricted
inttypes.h contents (not yet tested in the conform/ tests) not
including those macros; XPG4.2 has no such permission and no
inttypes.h / stdint.h at all.
This patch rearranges the headers to avoid this issue. intN_t
definitions move to bits/stdint-intn.h, and uintN_t definitions to
bits/stdint-uintn.h. (These are not bits/types/ headers because they
each define four types. They are separate rather than just a single
header because sys/types.h defines intN_t but u_intN_t rather than
uintN_t - and while sys/types.h could define uintN_t because of the
POSIX reservation of *_t, existing practice there is largely to
condition types on appropriate feature test macros, and indeed there
is at least one open bug report (14553) about a type that's not
so-conditioned, so maybe types there should actually have conditions
added where appropriate.) The affected network headers are then made
to include bits/stdint-uintn.h instead of stdint.h. This allows six
XFAILs to be removed.
This doesn't do anything about inttypes.h defining more than it should
for UNIX98, but we don't have conformtest expectations for that case
at present (and my inclination is that a fix for that should be as
local as possible - affecting only inttypes.h, not stdint.h, only for
the case of __USE_UNIX98 && !__USE_ISOC99).
Tested for x86_64.

As noted in
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2012-12/msg00240.html>,
stdlib/Versions and wcsmbs/Versions list some functions as
__strto*_internal and __wcsto*_internal rather than explicitly listing
the symbols to be exported (so any new internal function matching one
of those patterns would be wrongly added to version GLIBC_2.0), which
seems like a bad idea. This patch changes those files to list the
exported symbols explicitly. There are still entries in
sysdeps/nacl/Versions for __nacl_irt_*, but as GLIBC_PRIVATE symbols
that seems less significant.

glibc headers include some code (not particularly consistent or
systematic) to put various declarations in C++ namespaces std and
__c99, if _GLIBCPP_USE_NAMESPACES is defined.
As noted in <https://gcc.gnu.org/ml/libstdc++/2017-03/msg00025.html>,
this macro was removed from libstdc++ in 2000. I don't expect
compilation with such old versions of libstdc++ to work with current
glibc headers anyway (whereas old *binaries* are expected to stay
working with current glibc); this patch (which should be a no-op with
any libstdc++ version postdating that removal) removes all this code
from the glibc headers.
The begin-end-check.pl test, whose comments say it is about checking
these namespace macro calls, is also removed. The code in that test
would have covered __BEGIN_DECLS / __END_DECLS as well, but if those
weren't properly matched it would show up with the
check-installed-headers-cxx tests, so I don't think there is an actual
use for keeping begin-end-check.pl with the namespace code removed.
Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that installed stripped
shared libraries are unchanged by the patch).

Quite a few tests include libc-internal.h just for the DIAG_* macros.
Split those macros to their own file, which can be included safely in
_ISOMAC mode. I also moved ignore_value, since it seems logically
related, even though I didn't notice any tests needing it.
Also add -Wnonnull suppressions to two tests that _should_ have them,
but the error is masked when compiling against internal headers.

Information about whether the ABI of long double is the same as that
of double is split between bits/mathdef.h and bits/wordsize.h.
When the ABIs are the same, bits/mathdef.h defines
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH. In addition, in the case where the same glibc
binary supports both -mlong-double-64 and -mlong-double-128,
bits/wordsize.h defines __LONG_DOUBLE_MATH_OPTIONAL, along with
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH if this particular compilation is with
-mlong-double-64.
As part of the refactoring I proposed in
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2016-11/msg00745.html>, this
patch puts all that information in a single header,
bits/long-double.h. It is included from sys/cdefs.h alongside the
include of bits/wordsize.h, so other headers generally do not need to
include bits/long-double.h directly.
Previously, various bits/mathdef.h headers and bits/wordsize.h headers
had this long double information (including implicitly in some
bits/mathdef.h headers through not having the defines present in the
default version). After the patch, it's all in six bits/long-double.h
headers. Furthermore, most of those new headers are not
architecture-specific. Architectures with optional long double all
use the ldbl-opt sysdeps directory, either in the order (ldbl-64-128,
ldbl-opt, ldbl-128) or (ldbl-128ibm, ldbl-opt). Thus a generic header
for the case where long double = double, and headers in ldbl-128,
ldbl-96 and ldbl-opt, suffices to cover every architecture except for
cases where long double properties vary between different ABIs sharing
a set of installed headers; fortunately all the ldbl-opt cases share a
single compiler-predefined macro __LONG_DOUBLE_128__ that can be used
to tell whether this compilation is -mlong-double-64 or
-mlong-double-128.
The two cases where a set of headers is shared between ABIs with
different long double properties, MIPS (o32 has long double = double,
other ABIs use ldbl-128) and SPARC (32-bit has optional long double,
64-bit has required long double), need their own bits/long-double.h
headers.
As with bits/wordsize.h, multiple-include protection for this header
is generally implicit through the include guards on sys/cdefs.h, and
multiple inclusion is harmless in any case. There is one subtlety:
the header must not define __LONG_DOUBLE_MATH_OPTIONAL if
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH was defined before its inclusion, because doing
so breaks how sysdeps/ieee754/ldbl-opt/nldbl-compat.h defines
__NO_LONG_DOUBLE_MATH itself before including system headers. Subject
to keeping that working, it would be reasonable to move these macros
from defined/undefined #ifdef to always-defined 1/0 #if semantics, but
this patch does not attempt to do so, just rearranges where the macros
are defined.
After this patch, the only use of bits/mathdef.h is the alpha one for
modifying complex function ABIs for old GCC. Thus, all versions of
the header other than the default and alpha versions are removed, as
is the include from math.h.
Tested for x86_64 and x86. Also did compilation-only testing with

The macro ENTRY in tst-strfrom.h is used to generate the input values for
each floating-point type (float, double, long double). It should append
the parameter LSUF (Literal suffix) to the floating-point number, but is
using CSUF (C function suffix). This patch fixes it.
Tested for powerpc64le and x86_64.
The new test driver in <support/test-driver.c> has feature parity with
the old one. The main difference is that its hooking mechanism is
based on functions and function pointers instead of macros. This
commit also implements a new environment variable, TEST_COREDUMPS,
which disables the code which disables coredumps (that is, it enables
them if the invocation environment has not disabled them).
<test-skeleton.c> defines wrapper functions so that it is possible to
use existing macros with the new-style hook functionality.
This commit changes only a few test cases to the new test driver, to
make sure that it works as expected.
Doing all-ABIs compile testing produces a compiler warning in
stdlib/bug-getcontext.c on nios2 and tilepro (with GCC 5 branch):
bug-getcontext.c: In function 'do_test':
bug-getcontext.c:53:6: error: 'except_mask' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized]
if (mask != except_mask)
^
This warning appears nonsensical; except_mask is initialized where
it's declared. I think what must be happening here is that the
compiler is confused by the returns-twice nature of getcontext: if
there were a call to setcontext, local variables could indeed have
lost their values on the second return from getcontext. This patch
duly uses the DIAG_* macros to disable the warning here.
Tested for nios2 and tilepro (compilation only; after this patch all
the tests compile, though there are other failures) and x86_64 (full
testsuite run).
* stdlib/bug-getcontext.c: Include <libc-internal.h>.

The strtod function should raise the "inexact" exception when its
result is inexact, but fails to do so except in the case of underflow
or overflow. This patch fixes it to do so for all inexact results.

is fixed to properly mark inexact results as such in the case where
the inexactness is from the mpfr_subnormalize step.

ISO/IEC TS 18661-1 adds several functions in the strfrom family to stdlib.
This patch adds strfromd, strfromf, and strfroml. This is being done in
preparation for the new floating-point type, float128. The added functions
convert a floating-point value into a string, with configurable format.
TS 18661-1 defines macros for the width of integer types, intended for
use with the fromfp functions to convert from floating-point types to
integer types of any width, in any rounding mode and with control over
whether "inexact" is raised. Such macros are, of course, more
generally useful than just with those functions.
Those macros are added to <limits.h> and <stdint.h>. Having
previously added the <limits.h> macros, this patch adds the <stdint.h>
ones. I've also added these macros to GCC's headers for GCC 7, but
for glibc systems, the definitions in GCC's <stdint.h> will only be
used with -ffreestanding.
Tested for x86_64 and x86.

entry created by this patch). I've also added these macros to GCC's
headers for GCC 7, but definitions in glibc's <limits.h> are still
useful for older GCC, for non-GNU compilers and for when it's
_GNU_SOURCE rather than __STDC_WANT_IEC_60559_BFP_EXT__ that implies
the macros should be defined since the GCC header only considers
__STDC_WANT_IEC_60559_BFP_EXT__ (and for glibc systems, the

This commit puts all libio vtables in a dedicated, read-only ELF
section, so that they are consecutive in memory. Before any indirect
jump, the vtable pointer is checked against the section boundaries,
and the process is terminated if the vtable pointer does not fall into
the special ELF section.
To enable backwards compatibility, a special flag variable
(_IO_accept_foreign_vtables), protected by the pointer guard, avoids
process termination if libio stream object constructor functions have
been called earlier. Such constructor functions are called by the GCC
2.95 libstdc++ library, and this mechanism ensures compatibility with
old binaries. Existing callers inside glibc of these functions are
adjusted to call the original functions, not the wrappers which enable
vtable compatiblity.
The compatibility mechanism is used to enable passing FILE * objects
across a static dlopen boundary, too.
If C++ headers such as <cstdlib> or <thread> are used, GCC 6
will include /usr/include/stdlib.h (instead of stdlib/stdlib.h
in the glibc source directory), and this turns up as a make
dependency. An implicit rule will kick in and make will try to
install stdlib/stdlib.h as /usr/include/stdlib.h because the
target is out of date.
This commit switches to <stdlib.h> and <pthread.h> instead of
<cstdlib> and <thread>.
In C++11 18.5.12 says "Objects shall not be destroyed as a
result of calling quick_exit." In C11 quick_exit is silent
about thread object destruction. Therefore to make glibc
C++ compliant we do not call any thread local destructors.
A new regression test verifies the fix.
I will note that C++11 18.5.3 makes it clear that C++
defines additional requirements for _Exit() to prevent it
from executing destructors.
Given that the point of _Exit() is to terminate the process
immediately it makes sense the C and C++ should line up
and avoid calling destructors.
No failures. New regtest passes.
This file is partially generated. To make updates a little
simpler, I have moved the generated code into a partially
contained header to simplify regeneration.
gen-tst-strtod-round.c now takes two, mandatory arguments.
These arguments specify the input test data and the output
destination, respectively.

__USE_POSIX199506. This patch corrects the condition.
Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that installed stripped
shared libraries are unchanged by the patch).

UNIX98 and XPG4 have ttyslot in <stdlib.h>. glibc, however, has it in
<unistd.h>, for __USE_MISC || (__USE_XOPEN_EXTENDED && !__USE_UNIX98),
but no supported standard has it in <unistd.h>.
This patch adds a properly conditioned declaration to <stdlib.h> (only
enabled for the relevant standards, not for __USE_MISC or __USE_GNU).
The <unistd.h> declaration is restricted to __USE_MISC. Some relevant
XFAILs are removed.

The overloading approach in the W* macros was incompatible with
integer expressions of a type different from int. Applications
using union wait and these macros will have to migrate to the
POSIX-specified int status type.
The nan, nanf and nanl functions handle payload strings by doing e.g.:
if (tagp[0] != '\0')
{
char buf[6 + strlen (tagp)];
sprintf (buf, "NAN(%s)", tagp);
return strtod (buf, NULL);
}
This is an unbounded stack allocation based on the length of the
argument. Furthermore, if the argument starts with an n-char-sequence
followed by ')', that n-char-sequence is wrongly treated as
significant for determining the payload of the resulting NaN, when ISO
C says the call should be equivalent to strtod ("NAN", NULL), without
being affected by that initial n-char-sequence. This patch fixes both
those problems by using the __strtod_nan etc. functions recently
factored out of strtod etc. for that purpose, with those functions
being exported from libc at version GLIBC_PRIVATE.
Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 and powerpc.

The nan* functions handle their string argument by constructing a
NAN(...) string on the stack as a VLA and passing it to strtod
functions.
This approach has problems discussed in bug 16961 and bug 16962: the
stack usage is unbounded, and it gives incorrect results in certain
cases where the argument is not a valid n-char-sequence.
The natural fix for both issues is to refactor the NaN payload parsing
out of strtod into a separate function that the nan* functions can
call directly, so that no temporary string needs constructing on the
stack at all. This patch does that refactoring in preparation for
fixing those bugs (but without actually using the new functions from
nan* - which will also require exporting them from libc at version
GLIBC_PRIVATE). This patch is not intended to change any user-visible
behavior, so no tests are added (fixes for the above bugs will of
course add tests for them).
This patch builds on my recent fixes for strtol and strtod issues in
Turkish locales. Given those fixes, the parsing of NaN payloads is
locale-independent; thus, the new functions do not need to take a
locale_t argument.
Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 and powerpc.

The implementations of strtod and related functions use
locale-specific conversions to lower case when parsing the contents of
a string NAN(n-char-sequence_opt). This has the consequence that
NAN(I) is not treated as being of that form (only the initial NAN part
is accepted). The syntax of n-char-sequence directly maps to the
ASCII letters, digits and underscore as in identifiers, so it is
unambiguous that all ASCII letters must be accepted in all locales.
This patch, relative to a tree with
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-11/msg00258.html> (pending
review) applied and depending on that patch, fixes this problem by
checking directly for ASCII letters. This will have the side effect
of no longer accepting 'İ' (dotted 'I') inside NAN() in Turkish
locales, which seems appropriate (that letter wouldn't have been
interpreted as having any meaning in the NaN payload anyway, as not
acceptable to strtoull).
Tested for x86_64 and x86.

The implementations of strtol and related functions use
locale-specific conversions to upper case before determining whether a
character is a valid letter in the argument. This means that in
Turkish locales such as tr_TR.UTF-8 and tr_TR.ISO-8859-9, "i" is
interpreted as not being a valid number, when if the base passed to
strtol is 19 or more it should be interpreted as the number 18.
ISO C explicitly says "The letters from a (or A) through z (or Z) are
ascribed the values 10 through 35", so clearly intends the standard
ASCII letters (otherwise you wouldn't generally have exactly 26
letters to ascribe such values) (whereas white-space must be
identified according to the locale). In particular, 'i' and 'I' must
be understood to be in that sequence.
This patch makes the code do the case conversions and classification
in the C locale; the user's locale remains used for whitespace testing
(explicitly correct according to ISO C). Note that the way the code
worked, the only non-ASCII letter that would previously have been
accepted would have been the Turkish 'ı' (dotless 'i'), because the
uppercase version of that in Turkish locales is 'I'. This patch means
that will no longer be accepted, which seems appropriate.

One common case of __GNUC_PREREQ (4, 7) conditionals is use of
diagnostic control pragmas for -Wmaybe-uninitialized, an option
introduced in GCC 4.7 where older GCC needed -Wuninitialized to be
controlled instead if the warning appeared with older GCC. This patch
removes such conditionals.
(There remain several older uses of -Wno-uninitialized in makefiles
that still need to be converted to diagnostic control pragmas if the
issue is still present with current sources and supported GCC
versions, and it's likely that in most cases those pragmas also will
end up controlling -Wmaybe-uninitialized.)

This mostly automatically-generated patch converts 113 function
definitions in glibc from old-style K&R to prototype-style. Following
my other recent such patches, this one deals with the case of function
definitions in files that either contain assertions or where grep
suggested they might contain assertions - and thus where it isn't
possible to use a simple object code comparison as a sanity check on
the correctness of the patch, because line numbers are changed.
A few such automatically-generated changes needed to be supplemented
by manual changes for the result to compile. openat64 had a prototype
declaration with "..." but an old-style definition in
sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/dl-openat64.c, and "..." needed adding to the
generated prototype in the definition (I've filed
<https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=68024> for diagnosing
such cases in GCC; the old state was undefined behavior not requiring
a diagnostic, but one seems a good idea). In addition, as Florian has
noted regparm attribute mismatches between declaration and definition
are only diagnosed for prototype definitions, and five functions
needed internal_function added to their definitions (in the case of
__pthread_mutex_cond_lock, via the macro definition of
__pthread_mutex_lock) to compile on i386.
After this patch is in, remaining old-style definitions are probably
most readily fixed manually before we can turn on
-Wold-style-definition for all builds.

Where glibc code needs to avoid excess range and precision in
floating-point arithmetic, code variously uses either asms or volatile
to force the results of that arithmetic to memory; mostly this is
conditional on FLT_EVAL_METHOD, but in the case of lrint / llrint
functions some use of volatile is unconditional (and is present
unnecessarily in versions for long double). This patch make such code

This file uses isspace but doesn't include ctype.h leading to:
isomac.c: In function 'get_null_defines':

for (end = start + 1; !isspace (*end) && *end != '\0'; ++end)
These tests were skipped by the use-test-skeleton conversion done in
commit 29955b5d because they did not have an `int main (void)'
declaration. Instead their `main' functions were declared with arguments
(i.e. argc, argv) even though they didn't use them.
Remove these arguments and include the test skeleton in these tests.
When an TLS destructor is registered, we set the DF_1_NODELETE flag to
signal that the object should not be destroyed. We then clear the
DF_1_NODELETE flag when all destructors are called, which is wrong -
the flag could have been set by other means too.
This patch replaces this use of the flag by using l_tls_dtor_count
directly to determine whether it is safe to unload the object. This
change has the added advantage of eliminating the lock taking when
calling the destructors, which could result in a deadlock. The patch
also fixes the test case tst-tls-atexit - it was making an invalid
dlclose call, which would just return an error silently.
I have also added a detailed note on concurrency which also aims to
justify why I chose the semantics I chose for accesses to
l_tls_dtor_count. Thanks to Torvald for his help in getting me
started on this and (literally) teaching my how to approach the
problem.
Change verified on x86_64; the test suite does not show any
regressions due to the patch.
ChangeLog:
[BZ #18657]
* elf/dl-close.c (_dl_close_worker): Don't unload DSO if there
are pending TLS destructor calls.
* include/link.h (struct link_map): Add concurrency note for
L_TLS_DTOR_COUNT.
* stdlib/cxa_thread_atexit_impl.c (__cxa_thread_atexit_impl):
Don't touch the link map flag. Atomically increment
l_tls_dtor_count.
(__call_tls_dtors): Atomically decrement l_tls_dtor_count.
Avoid taking the load lock and don't touch the link map flag.
* stdlib/tst-tls-atexit-nodelete.c: New test case.
* stdlib/Makefile (tests): Use it.
* stdlib/tst-tls-atexit.c (do_test): dlopen
tst-tls-atexit-lib.so again before dlclose. Add conditionals
to allow tst-tls-atexit-nodelete test case to use it.
The tst-tls-atexit test case searches for its module in /proc/PID/maps
to verify that it is unloaded, which is a Linux-specific test. This
patch makes the test generic by looking for the library in the link
map list in the _r_debug structure.
Verified that the test continues to succeed on x86_64. There is a bug
in the test case where it calls dlclose once again, which is actually
incorrect but still manages to unload the DSO thanks to an existing
bug in __tls_call_dtors. This will be fixed in a later patch which
also fixes up the __cxa_thread_atexit_impl implementation. I have
added a FIXME comment to that call momentarily, which I will remove
when I fix the problem.
* stdlib/tst-tls-atexit-lib.c (do_foo): Rename to reg_dtor.
* stdlib/tst-tls-atexit.c: (is_loaded): New function.
(spawn_thread): New function.
(load): Rename to reg_dtor_and_close. Move dlopen to...
(do_test): ... here. Use IS_LOADED to test for its
availability.
The locks don't synchronize with anything - they were likely
introduced initially to synchronize with some main thread code, but
that is no longer evident.
On s390/s390x backtrace(buffer, size) returns the series of called functions until
"makecontext_ret" and additional entries (up to "size") with "makecontext_ret".
GDB-backtrace is also warning:
"Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)"
To reproduce this scenario you have to setup a new context with makecontext()
and activate it with setcontext(). See e.g. cf() function in testcase stdlib/tst-makecontext.c.
Or see bug in libgo "Bug 66303 - runtime.Caller() returns infinitely deep stack frames
on s390x " (https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=66303).
This patch omits the cfi_startproc/cfi_endproc directives in ENTRY/END macro of
__makecontext_ret. Thus no frame information is generated in .eh_frame and backtrace
stops after __makecontext_ret. There is also no .eh_frame info for _start or
thread_start functions.
ChangeLog:
[BZ #18508]
* stdlib/Makefile ($(objpfx)tst-makecontext3):
Depend on $(libdl).
* stdlib/tst-makecontext.c (cf): Test if _Unwind_Backtrace
is not called infinitely times.
(backtrace_helper): New function.
(trace_arg): New struct.
(st1): Enlarge stack size.
* sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/s390/s390-32/__makecontext_ret.S:

Use of fmtmsg (XSI POSIX) brings in addseverity (non-POSIX). This
patch fixes this by making addseverity into a weak alias for
__addseverity.
Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that disassembly of
installed shared libraries is unchanged by the patch).
[BZ #18539]
* stdlib/fmtmsg.c (addseverity): Rename to __addseverity and
define as weak alias of __addseverity.

sorry about that (a whitespace hickup) - but your patch changed the
wrong comment, so here's a new patch to fix the fix.
There appears to be a discrepancy among the implementations
of setcontext with regards to the function called once the last
linked-to context has finished executing via setcontext.
The POSIX standard says:
~~~
If the uc_link member of the ucontext_t structure pointed to by
the ucp argument is equal to 0, then this context is the main
context, and the thread will exit when this context returns.
~~~
It says "exit" not "exit immediately" nor "exit without running
functions registered with atexit or on_exit."
Therefore the AArch64, ARM, hppa and NIOS II implementations are
wrong and no test detects it.
It is questionable if this should even be fixed or just documented
that the above 4 targets are wrong. The functions are deprecated
and nobody should be using them, but at the same time it silly to
have cross-target differences that make it hard to port old
applications from say x86_64 to AArch64.
Therefore I will ix the 4 arches, and checkin a regression
test to prevent it from changing again.
https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-03/msg00720.html
* stdlib/setenv.c (__add_to_environ):
Dump core quickly if setenv (..., NULL, ...) is called.
This time, do it the right way, and pacify GCC with a pragma.
Bug 18247 is an off-by-one error in strtof's determination of a
decimal exponent such that any value with that decimal exponent is at
most half the least subnormal and so the appropriate underflowing
value for the rounding mode can be determined with no
multiple-precision computations. (Whether the value is in fact safe
despite the off-by-one depends on the floating-point format in
question. It's wrong for float and for m68k ldbl-96 but not for other
supported formats.) This patch corrects the computation of the
exponent in question to be safe in general, adding a comment
explaining the new computation.
Tested for x86_64.
[BZ #18247]
* stdlib/strtod_l.c (____STRTOF_INTERNAL): Decrease minimum
decimal exponent by 1.
* stdlib/tst-strtod-round-data: Add more tests.
* stdlib/tst-strtod-round.c (tests): Regenerated.
glibc maintains a binary tree of environment strings it malloc()ed
itself. However, it's possible for it to malloc() a string, then find
that an identical string is already in the tree. In this case, the
memory is leaked and is not freed if the application later calls
__libc_freeres(). Fix this by freeing 'new_value' when it's unneeded.
Test case:
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
int main()
{
char *p = calloc(100000, 1);
memset(p, 'A', 99999);
setenv("TESTVAR", p, 1);
setenv("TESTVAR", p, 1);
free(p);
}
Leak that was reported by valgrind:
100,008 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 1 of 1
at 0x4C29F90: malloc (in /usr/lib/valgrind/vgpreload_memcheck-amd64-linux.so)

by 0x400642: main (in /mnt/tmpfs/a.out)
Due to tile missing a bunch of FP exception and rounding
support, the tests generate warnings. These changes fix the
warnings by just not compiling some unused functions, and
adding some attribute ((unused)) tags.
The current scheme to identify which module a translation unit is
built in depends on defining multiple macros IS_IN_* and also defining
NOT_IN_libc if we're building a non-libc module. In addition, there
is an IN_LIB macro that does effectively the same thing, but for
different modules (notably the systemtap probes). This macro scheme
unifies both ideas to use just one macro IN_MODULE and assign it a
value depending on the module it is being built into. If the module
is not defined, it defaults to MODULE_libc.
Patches that follow will replace uses of IS_IN_* variables with the
IS_IN() macro. libc-symbols.h has been converted already to give an
example of how such a transition will look.
Verified that there are no relevant binary changes. One source change
that will crop up repeatedly is that of nscd_stat, since it uses the
build timestamp as a constant in its logic.
