581c785bf3 Update copyright dates with scripts/update-copyrights 
I used these shell commands:

../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright
(cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]")

and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning:
copyright statement not found" for each of 7061 files FOO.

I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h,
support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and
sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following
obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah.  I don't
know why I run into these diagnostics whereas others evidently do not.

30891f35fa Remove "Contributed by" lines 
We stopped adding "Contributed by" or similar lines in sources in 2012
in favour of git logs and keeping the Contributors section of the
glibc manual up to date.  Removing these lines makes the license
header a bit more consistent across files and also removes the
possibility of error in attribution when license blocks or files are
copied across since the contributed-by lines don't actually reflect
reality in those cases.

Move all "Contributed by" and similar lines (Written by, Test by,
etc.) into a new file CONTRIBUTED-BY to retain record of these
contributions.  These contributors are also mentioned in
manual/contrib.texi, so we just maintain this additional record as a
courtesy to the earlier developers.

The following scripts were used to filter a list of files to edit in
place and to clean up the CONTRIBUTED-BY file respectively.  These
were not added to the glibc sources because they're not expected to be
of any use in future given that this is a one time task:

a1d6ed027b Linux: Move timer_gettime, __timer_gettime64 from librt to libc 
The symbols were moved using scripts/move-symbol-to-libc.py.

The way the ABI intransition is implemented is changed with this
commit: the implementation is now consolidated in one file with a
TIMER_T_WAS_INT_COMPAT check.

The struct allocated for !SIGEV_THREAD timers only requires two 'int'
fields (sigev_notify and ktimerid) and the offsetof trick tries minimize
the memory usage by only allocation the required size.  However,
although the resulting size is suffice for !SIGEV_THREAD time, accessing
the partially allocated object is error-prone and UB.

This patch fixes both issues by embedding the information whether
the timer if a SIGEV_THREAD in the returned 'timer_t'.  For
!SIGEV_THREAD, the resulting 'timer_t' is the returned kernel timer
identifer (kernel_timer_t), while for SIGEV_THREAD it uses the fact
malloc returns at least _Alignof (max_align_t) pointers plus that
valid kernel_timer_t are always positive to set MSB bit of the returned
'timer_t' to indicate the timer handles a SIGEV_THREAD.

It allows to remove the memory allocation for !SIGEV_THREAD and also
remove the 'sigev_notify' field from 'struct timer'.

Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu.

70746a06c2 linux: Simplify timer_gettime 
With arch-syscall.h it can now assumes the existance of either
__NR_timer_gettime or __NR_time_gettime_time64.  The 32-bit time_t
support is now only build for !__ASSUME_TIME64_SYSCALLS.

Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu (on 5.4 and on 4.15
kernel).

6befb33f31 rt: avoid PLT setup in timer_[sg]ettime 
The functions __timer_gettime64 and __timer_settime64 live in librt, not
libc.  Use proper hidden aliases so that the callers do not need to set up
the PLT register.

Fixes commits cae1635a70 ("y2038: linux: Provide __timer_settime64
implementation") and 562cdc19c7 ("y2038: linux: Provide __timer_gettime64
implementation").

562cdc19c7 y2038: linux: Provide __timer_gettime64 implementation 
This patch provides new __timer_gettime64 explicit 64 bit function for reading
status of specified timer. To be more precise - the remaining time and interval
set with timer_settime.
Moreover, a 32 bit version - __timer_gettime has been refactored to internally
use __timer_gettime64.

The __timer_gettime is now supposed to be used on systems still supporting 32
bit time (__TIMESIZE != 64) - hence the necessary conversion from 64 bit struct
__timespec64 to struct timespec.

The new __timer_gettime64 syscall available from Linux 5.1+ has been used, when
applicable.

The original INLINE_SYSCALL() macro has been replaced with
INLINE_SYSCALL_CALL() to avoid explicit passing the number of arguments.

Build tests:
- The code has been tested on x86_64/x86 (native compilation):
make PARALLELMFLAGS="-j8" && make check PARALLELMFLAGS="-j8" && \\
make xcheck PARALLELMFLAGS="-j8"

- The glibc has been build tested (make PARALLELMFLAGS="-j8") for
x86 (i386), x86_64-x32, and armv7

Linux kernel, headers and minimal kernel version for glibc build test
matrix:
- Linux v5.1 (with timer_gettime64) and glibc build with v5.1 as
  minimal kernel version (--enable-kernel="5.1.0")
  The __ASSUME_TIME64_SYSCALLS flag defined.

- Linux v5.1 and default minimal kernel version
  The __ASSUME_TIME64_SYSCALLS not defined, but kernel supports timer_gettime64
  syscall.

- Linux v4.19 (no timer_gettime64 support) with default minimal kernel version
  for contemporary glibc (3.2.0)
  This kernel doesn't support timer_gettime64 syscall, so the fallback to
  timer_gettime is tested.

Above tests were performed with Y2038 redirection applied as well as without
(so the __TIMESIZE != 64 execution path is checked as well).

No regressions were observed.

115959290f timer: Decouple x86_64 specific timer_gettime from generic Linux implementation 
The x86_64 specific timer_gettime implementation (from
./linux/x86_64/timer_gettime.c) reused the Linux generic one (from
./linux/timer_gettime.c) to implement handling some compatible timers
(previously defined in librt, now in libc).

As the generic implementation now is going to also support new (available
from Linux 5.1+) timer_gettime64 syscall, those two implementations have
been decoupled for easier conversion.

The original INLINE_SYSCALL() macro has been replaced with
INLINE_SYSCALL_CALL() to avoid explicit passing the number of arguments.

bd2260a206 Convert 231 sysdeps function definitions to prototype style. 
This mostly automatically-generated patch converts 231 sysdeps
function definitions in glibc from old-style K&R to prototype-style.

For __aio_sigqueue and __gai_sigqueue I had to add internal_function
to the definitions as noted by Florian in
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-10/msg00595.html> to keep
the functions compiling on x86 after conversion to prototype
definitions.  Otherwise, the patch is automatically generated with all
the same exclusions and caveats as in
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-10/msg00594.html> except
that it's a patch for sysdeps files.

Tested for x86_64 and x86 (testsuite, and that installed stripped
shared libraries are unchanged by the patch).  Also tested for arm,
mips64 and powerpc32 that installed stripped shared libraries are
unchanged by the patch.

0c5b8b5941 Add INLINE_SYSCALL_RETURN/INLINE_SYSCALL_ERROR_RETURN 
For ia32 PIC, the first thing of many syscalls does is to call
__x86.get_pc_thunk.reg to load PC into reg in case there is an error,
which is required for setting errno.  In most cases, there are no
errors.  But we still call __x86.get_pc_thunk.reg.  This patch adds
INLINE_SYSCALL_RETURN and INLINE_SYSCALL_ERROR_RETURN so that i386
can optimize setting errno by branching to the internal __syscall_error
without PLT.

INLINE_SYSCALL_ERROR_RETURN is designed to take the negative error
number returned from the majority of Linux kernels for which negating
is a no-op with INTERNAL_SYSCALL_ERRNO.

With i386 INLINE_SYSCALL_RETURN, INLINE_SYSCALL_ERROR_RETURN and
i386 syscall inlining optimization for GCC 5, for
sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/fchmodat.c with -O2 -march=i686
-mtune=generic, GCC 5.2 now generates:
