Revamp and modernize X error traps * add per-display gdk_x11_display_error_trap_push() (X11-specific because gdk_error_trap_push() probably should have been) * make gdk_error_trap_push() handle only GDK displays not displays opened without a GDK wrapper * make gdk_error_trap_pop() and gdk_x11_display_error_trap_pop() automatically sync only if needed, so manual gdk_flush() is not required * add gdk_error_trap_pop_ignored() which just asynchronously ignores errors, so never needs to sync * add G_GNUC_WARN_UNUSED_RESULT to plain pop(), because if you use plain pop() and don't need the return value, the async gdk_error_trap_pop_ignored() should be used instead. This results in lots of warnings to clean up in a later patch. The main objective here was to avoid the need to sync just to ignore an error. Multiple changes to reduce the amount of unprefixed symbols The X11 backend exports a number of symbols which are _-prefixed (so don't become part of the gdk api), but are not named in a way to prevent accidental clashes between backends. The one API change here is that the gdk_xid_table functions have been removed - they did not server an purpose, since the xid table only stores windows anyway, and we already have a lookup-by-xid function for windows.

gdk: Make window moves a custom vfunc The window move code needs special attention for multiple reasons: - invalid areas for expose events need to be modified - self-copy is not supported by Cairo - in X11, copying from an overlapped Window might cause unexposed areas to be copied in, spo expose events for those need to be generated. This was all special cased in various parts of the code. By making it an explicit vfunc, we can work around it.

Work toward turning GdkDisplayManager into a backend singleton This commit hides the GdkDisplayManager instance and class structs, adds vfuncs for listing displays, opening displays, and getting and setting the default display. The X11 backend has a derived GdkDisplayManagerX11. The gdk_display_manager_get() function is responsible for deciding on which of the compiled in backends to use. Currently, it consults the GDK_BACKEND environment variable and falls back to x11.

Multiple changes to reduce the amount of unprefixed symbols The X11 backend exports a number of symbols which are _-prefixed (so don't become part of the gdk api), but are not named in a way to prevent accidental clashes between backends. The one API change here is that the gdk_xid_table functions have been removed - they did not server an purpose, since the xid table only stores windows anyway, and we already have a lookup-by-xid function for windows.

Multiple changes to reduce the amount of unprefixed symbols The X11 backend exports a number of symbols which are _-prefixed (so don't become part of the gdk api), but are not named in a way to prevent accidental clashes between backends. The one API change here is that the gdk_xid_table functions have been removed - they did not server an purpose, since the xid table only stores windows anyway, and we already have a lookup-by-xid function for windows.

Aside from shuffling things around, did the following: * gdk/gdkprivate.h gdk/gdk.h gdk/x11/gdkmain-x11.h: Add gdk_arg_context_* - a simple argument parsing system in the style of popt. * gdk/gdkdrawable.[ch] gdk/gdkprivate.h gdk/gdkwindow.[ch] gdk/x11/gdkprivate-x11.h: Remove X specific stuff from GdkDrawable and GdkWindowPrivate - add ->klass and ->klass_data fields. The klass_data field points to an auxilliary structure that is windowing system dependent. * gdk/gdkfont.c: Make most of the measurement functions simply wrappers around gdk_text_extents(). * gdk/gdkfont.c gdk/gdkprivate.h gdk/x11/gdkfont-x11.c: Add a _gdk_font_strlen() function that hides the weird behavior in gtk+-1.[02] where a string is interpreted differently for 8-bit and 16-bit fonts. * gdk/gdkevents.c: Add a new function gdk_event_button_generate() to store common code for synthesizing double/triple press events. * gdk/gdkgc.[ch]: Virtualize in the same way as gdkdrawable.h. Make all the function that modify an existing GC simply wrappers around gdk_gc_set_values(). * gdk/gdkcc.[ch]: Moved into x11/ directory in preparation for throwing out later. * gdk/gdkfont.c gdk/gdkimage.c gdk/gdkcolor.c: Change GdkFontPrivate, GdkImagePrivate and GdkColormapPrivate to have a windowing system dependent part (GdkFontPrivateX etc.) that "derives" from the system-independent part. * configure.in gdk/x11/Makefile.in gdk/x11/gdkinput*.c: Got rid of the included-source-files for XInput in favor of automake conditionals. (Which didn't exist when XInput support was originally added.) * gdk/gdkrgb.c: Remove the visual id from the debugging statements since that is X11 specific; print out type/depth info instead.
