...for at least WGL, since we are not allowed to use wglMakeCurrent(),
which is eventually called by gdk_gl_context_make_current() to share WGL
contexts across different threads, which will cause a crash.
This means, we cannot enable WGL in the gstreamer media backend on
Windows.
The memory pointed to by GstVideoFrame::plane_data becomes invalid after
unmapping causing the GBytes to point at some random memory if the
unmapping is not deferred until its destroy notify.
When the GStreamer buffer is backed by normal system memory this is not
a problem but if it is backed by e.g. an OpenGL texture, dmabuf or some
other hardware-specific memory this will otherwise cause interesting
problems.
This gracefully disable ffmpeg, gstreamer, cups and cloudprint optional
dependencies when they are not available, while still giving full
control to distributors using -Dauto_features=enabled.
This reverts commit d761e3cf2c.
I am seeing PPD_CUSTOM_UNKNOWN in the cups headers in our
ci images, and that is cups 2.2.12. So this commit was
mistaken.
Use feature options for things that are optional features,
update the docs.
Visible changes here is that the 'print-backends' option
got renamed to 'print' to go better with 'media', and the
'tracker3' option got renamed to 'tracker'.
For options that have been changed into features, the
syntax now is -Dfeature=enabled or -Dfeature=disabled
or -Dfeature=auto.
CUPS uses resource paths in the form of "printers/printer_name"
or "classes/class_name" so it is enough to remove the "printers/"
or "classes/" prefix and use the string behind it as a name.
There was recently introduced a wrong check for the prefix.
This commit fixes it in the way it was originally intended.
G_DEFINE_DYNAMIC_TYPE declares these functions as static, and
-Werror=redundant-decls won't let us redeclare them. This is the
equivalent of 72c72d0b, but for a different backend.

Visual Studio does not allow decorating functions with '__declspec (dllexport)'
if a prototype exists and is not decorated with '__declspec (dllexport)' as
well, so we cannot just decorate g_io_module_[load|unload|query] in the various
module sources with G_MODULE_EXPORT because the prototypes of these functions
have been marked with _GLIB_EXTERN, which equates to 'extern' unless overridden
Fix this by overriding _GLIB_EXTERN with the appropriate visibility flag, as we
have used to define _GDK_EXTERN. Unfortunately, we can't just use _GDK_EXTERN
G_MODULE_EXPORT as they may have not been defined yet for our use
Do this across the board for all modules, even if they are not buildable on
Visual Studio nor Windows, for consistency's sake.
It seems newer releases of CUPS removed the ability to disable
deprecation warnings by defining a pre-processor symbol, so we
have to resort to the usual begin/end ignore deprecation pragmas
to avoid a ton of deprecation warnings.
printer_name_compressed_strv is NULL-terminated array
of gchar*, which means N+1 memory should be allocated.
Otherwise, if the printer name has no empty components
(which is usually the case), printer_name_compressed_strv[N],
which should contain the NULL sentinel, will actually lie
just outside of allocated memory, which is UB.
In my case, it led to crashes inside g_strjoinv
when Print... dialog is opened in evince.

Device URI was not filled for non-Avahi printers by my previous commit.
I've added it back. It was a mistake during rebasing of the patch
to current master.
Create printer name from name of the advertised service
for standalone IPP printers as opposed to CUPS printers
advertised via Avahi which get name from their
resource path.
This is similar to what cups-filters does.
Pass GtkPrinter class to request for printer info
so that it does not need to be searched for
(such search could fail for standalone IPP printers).
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1509
Set reasonable default values for printers discovered
by Avahi which do not have 'printer-type' attribute.
This is the case for network printers which were not
published by CUPS.
Related to the issue #1509.
We were looking for the cups headers and the cups lib in the default locations
which for example breaks with OpenBSD where the cups headers are under /usr/local/include/
Instead just use the "cups" dependency type from meson which internally uses cups-config.
See #1967
Ported to master from !963
httpGetAuthString() was added with cups 1.3 and we depend on a newer version
now. The direct field access was a fallback in case httpGetAuthString()
was missing, so this can also be dropped.
Ported to master from !938
The http* family of functions was deprecated after CUPS 1.7. We can
conditionally use it when built against a newer version of CUPS. The
additional parameters are taken directly from the fallback values
inside CUPS itself.
Additional code improvements and fixes:
- Use g_regex_match_simple() instead of sscanf()
- Added spaces between function names and left parantheses
- Set always correct custom page size
- Added page_setup field to CupsOptionsData data structure
- Replaced tab indentions by spaces
- Moved #define out of add_cups_options() function, removed line breaks from regular expressions
We need to override _GLIB_EXTERN to export the required symbols for the
GIO module on Visual Studio, so that the media modules can be
successfully loaded.
At least from GTK v3.22.30, the code disallows attempts to print PDF and
PS files using the LPR backend. Although it is not easy or possible for
GTK to determine if the printer can print these formats by querying lpr,
the print backend should allow lpr to try.
There are two uses cases:
- A filter is being used by lpr, specified in the printcap file, to process the
files prior to printing them.
- The printer can print PDF and PS files directly. There are many printers that
can print these formats, so GTK should allow for the possibility.
We were leaking the GBytes for the image memory, which is a
noticeable memleak to anyone who's casually running a memory monitor.
Go KDE users!

When using strncpy() with a buffer we need to account for the
terminating NUL character. GCC 8 started warning when using PPD_MAX_NAME
as the buffer length for strncpy() because the buffer we're copying into
has the same length — which means that the terminating NUL may be
skipped if the source string has a length of PPD_MAX_NAME.
The appropriate way to handle the case where we're copying a source with
a length bigger than of PPD_MAX_NAME is, as reported in the strncpy()
documentation, to copy `PPD_MAX_NAME - 1` bytes, and explicitly NUL
terminate the destination buffer. This has the additional benefit of
avoiding the compiler warning.
The main buildscript expects 'print_backends' list to be defined.
Since printbackends is os_unix-only, we need to define this list
ourselves for other OSes.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=773299
This way, we can support external libraries providing implementations of
GtkMediaFile.
We also add a media backend called 'nomedia' that can be enabled to not
compile any support for GtkMediaFile. This is useful when people want to
statically compile GTK into an application that does not use media.
For now, this option is the default.
We also support a new environment variable GTK_MEDIA that allows
selecting the implementation to use.
GTK_MEDIA=help can be used to get info about the available
implementations.
Add an extension point called gtk-im-module, which requires
the type GtkIMContext. Simplify the loading by using GIO
infrastructure. Drop the locale filtering for now, I don't
think it is really necessary nowadays.
Convert existing platform modules to gio modules.
Sill to do: Drop the conditional build machinery.
Either always include them, or never.
Instead of having separate options for each print backend, we can use
the same approach as the input method modules: a single option, with a
comma-separated list of print backends.
We can call it 'included-immodules', and simplify its logic by always
attempting to split the value, to avoid turning an array into a string
and then back into an array again.
GDK has a lock to mark critical sections inside the backends.
Additionally, code that would re-enter into the GTK main loop was
supposed to hold the lock.
Back in the Good Old Days™ this was guaranteed to kind of work only on
the X11 backend, and would cause a neat explosion on any other GDK
backend.
During GTK+ 3.x we deprecated the API to enter and leave the critical
sections, and now we can remove all the internal uses of the lock, since
external API that uses GTK+ 4.x won't be able to hold the GDK lock.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=793124
The main GDK thread lock is not portable and deprecated.
The only reason why gdk_threads_add_timeout() and
gdk_threads_add_timeout_full() exist is to allow invoking a callback
with the GDK lock held, in case 3rd party libraries still use the
deprecated gdk_threads_enter()/gdk_threads_leave() API.
Since we're removing the GDK lock, and we're releasing a new major API,
such code cannot exist any more; this means we can use the GLib API for
installing timeout callbacks.

The state argument was removed in commit 1518fe0 (API: stylecontext:

And have a priv->display instead of a priv->screen.
Includes turning gtk_menu_set_screen() into gtk_menu_set_display(),
because that function just forwards to its window.
On Windows, when IME is used, each keystroke results in the
WM_IME_COMPOSITION event being sent first. This means that in our case
when one decides on to accept the input that is in the preedit buffer,
we first get from Windows the WM_IME_COMPOSITION event
(where we emit the commit signal), followed by the WM_IME_ENDCOMPOSITION
event (where we emit the pair of preedit-changed and preedit-end
signals).
Since commit f11f989 (GtkEntry: Remove recompute idle), we do the input
recomputation directly, this will cause a pair of "Pango-WARNING:
Assertion failed: (index >= 0 && index <= layout->length)" being shown,
as gtkentry.c's priv->preedit_length and priv->preedit_cursor was unable
to be reset to 0 in time as a result of the recomputation triggered by
the commit being done before the reset of priv->preedit_length and
priv->preedit_cursor (which are no longer valid as we essentially say
that we are done with the preedit buffer).
As we could only acquire the final string that was entered in this
preedit session when we handle the WM_IME_COMPOSITION event, fix this by
saving up the final string we acquire from Windows IME in UTF-8 when we
handle the WM_IME_COMPOSITION event from Windows, and emit the commit
signal with that string after we emit the preedit-changed and
preedit-end signals when we handle the WM_IME_ENDCOMPOSITION event from
Windows, which comes afterwards.
Also fix the formatting of the code around the parts of the files that
was changed.

We're mixing a lot of styles in the Meson build files. This is an
attempt at making everything slightly more consistent in terms of
whitespace and indentation.
We have to work around some ordering problems here. We still
manage to keep most of the guts in modules/input/meson.build,
so it's not too ugly overall.
(The autotools build solves this with a 'make -C ../../input/modules'
inside gtk/Makefile, but that's not something we can or want to do.)
We are currently truncating job names to 255 bytes, because that's the
maximum allowed length of job-name attribute in CUPS. This is a CUPS
limitation that GtkPrintOperation shouldn't need to know, and it
shouldn't affect other backends, that might have other limitations or
even no limitation at all. This has another side effect, that what you
set as GtkPrintOperation:job-name could be different to what you get if
the property is truncated, this is not documented in
gtk_print_operation_set_job_name(). So, I think the job name should be
truncated by the CUPS backend, right before setting the job-name
attribute.

... and gdk_screen_get_width_mm() and gdk_screen_get_height_mm() and
the shortcut counterparts that call these functions on the default
screen.
Modern display servers don't provide an ability to query the size of a
screen or display so we shouldn't allow that either.
The previous patches didn't mark some strings as to be translated, and
tried to translate strings with a variable part already inside the
string, which isn't going to work.
Mark the strings as translatable with context, and also make sure to
translate static strings when getting them out of their structure.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=764585
Some of the translated strings in the cups printbackend are short
and generic and might occur in other contexts. Give them disambiguating
message contexts to avoid translation problems.
Replace checking if the NSView is really a GdkWindow, which will crash

In order to retrieve the user options for a printer, the respective
printer name is used.
This fixes the comparison of printer names to avoid that the options of
another printer are accidently read whose name starts with the same
letters, but is longer (e.g. "myprinterlongername" instead of
"myprinter").
This fixes Bug 753628.
"Yo, we heard you like traversing NULL-terminated arrays to operate on
them, so we called g_strv_length() as the for condition, so you can
iterate the array while iterating the array."
Instead of making famed rapper and television producer Xzibit proud, we
should avoid calling g_strv_length() on an array while looping on the
array, to avoid quadratic complexity.
We do this in various places that deal with arrays of strings that we
cannot really guess are short enough not to matter — e.g. the list of
CSS selectors in the inspector, or the required authentication
information for printing.
