This allows inverting the default text-direction in an application for
debugging, testing, and QA purposes. IDEs such as Builder may automate this
to encourage more application developers to test with a text-direction
different than their own.
Use GTK_DEBUG=builder-objects to make GtkBuilder warn
if a named object from a ui files doesn't get claimed
by gtk_builder_get_object(). This is useful for finding
dead wood in .ui files.
This causes the snapshotting algorithm to dump all widget nodes into
their own container node. We then name that group accordingly (ie
"GtkSwitch<0xdeadbeef>") so you can easily see which node belongs where.
The feature is toggleable in the inspector's visual tab.
There's a few problems with it, becuse GtkSnapshot optimized container
nodes away if they are not needed, so we are losing some widgets...
Introduce a new debug category "actions" and write some messages from
GtkActionHelper about if we can find the actions or not.
We will probably soon want to add some similar messages to
GtkMenuTrackerItem.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=733965
See inline comments for what it does. Its main use is figuring out if
something has been caused by GTK's caching of CSS properties or if it's
a different problem.
Preferrably should be made just into a local variable for libgtk like
_gdk_debug_flags for libgdk. But for now used by
gtk/tests/textbuffer.c and modules/printbackends/cups/gtkprintbackendcups.c.

* Practically everything changed.
Change all references of GIMP Toolkit (and variations of it)
to GTK+ Toolkit, showing no mercy at all to our beloved
ancestry. (#540529)
svn path=/trunk/; revision=20709

* gtk/gtk*.h: whitespace cleanup: remove trailing whitespace and
excess newlines and sprinkled some newlines where needed. Zero
code or formatting changes included.
svn path=/trunk/; revision=20225
2008-05-28 Michael Natterer <mitch@imendio.com>
* gtk/gtk.h: define __GTK_H_INSIDE__ around including all other
headers.
* gtk/gtktypebuiltins.h.template
* gtk/gtkversion.h.in
* gtk/gtk*.h: add single-include guards that #error out if
GTK_DISABLE_SINGLE_INCLUDES is defined and any of these files is
included individually.
* gtk/gtkprintbackend.h
* gtk/gtkprinter-private.h
* gtk/gtktextlayout.h
* gtk/gtktexttagprivate.h
* gtk/gtktexttypes.h
* gtk/gtktreedatalist.h: include <gtk/gtk.h> instead of individual
headers in these private or semi-private headers.
* gtk/gtkimmodule.h: also here because it's not in gtk.h.
* gtk/gtkpagesetupunixdialog.h
* gtk/gtkprinter.h
* gtk/gtkprintjob.h
* gtk/gtkprintunixdialog.h: likewise in the gtkunixprint headers.
* gtk/gtkclist.h
* gtk/gtkcombo.h
* gtk/gtkctree.h
* gtk/gtkfilesel.h
* gtk/gtkitemfactory.h
* gtk/gtklist.h
* gtk/gtklistitem.h
* gtk/gtkoldeditable.h
* gtk/gtkoptionmenu.h
* gtk/gtkpixmap.h
* gtk/gtkpreview.h
* gtk/gtksignal.h
* gtk/gtktipsquery.h: whenever possible, include only <gtk/gtk.h>
instead of individual headers in these deprecated headers. They
don't get included at all when GTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED is defined,
so if an app needs them anyway, it must undef GTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED
and include them individually, which should continue to work.
* gtk/gtkclist.c: include "gtkctree.h" because of the change
above.

Apply a patch by John Palmieri to use buffered io using
GIOChannels, clean up error handling and support Cups 1.2
api in the printing code.
* acconfig.h:
* configure.in: Detect Cups 1.2
* gtk/gtkdebug.h:
* gtk/gtkmain.c: Add a printing debug key.
* gtk/gtkprintbackend.[hc]: Remove the GError parameter from
gtk_print_backend_print_stream, and take a GIOChannel instead
of an fd.
* gtk/gtkprinter-private.h:
* gtk/gtkprinter.c: Replace the fd parameter of
_gtk_printer_create_cairo_surface by a GIOChannel.
* gtk/gtkprintjob.[hc]: Remove the GError parameter from
gtk_print_job_send and make it return void.
* gtk/gtkprintoperation-unix.c:
* gtk/gtkprintjob.c: Adjust callers, add some debugging support.
* modules/printbackends/Makefile.am: Fix DIST_SUBDIRS.
* modules/printbackends/cups/Makefile.am:
* modules/printbackends/lpr/Makefile.am: Add debug CFLAGS.
* modules/printbackends/cups/gtkcupsutils.[hc]:
* modules/printbackends/cups/gtkprintbackendcups.c:
* modules/printbackends/file/gtkprintbackendfile.c:
* modules/printbackends/lpr/gtkprintbackendfile.c: Adapt to
the GIOChannel and GError changes, add debug output

Implement icon theme caching. (#154034, Martijn Vernooij,
caching schema proposed by Owen Taylor, initial implementation
by Anders Carlsson)
* gtk/gtkdebug.h:
* gtk/gtkmain.c: Add a "icontheme" debug flag.
* gtk/Makefile.am (gtk_c_sources): Add gtkiconcache.c
(gtk_private_h_sources): Add gtkiconcache.h
(bin_PROGRAMS): Add gtk-update-icon-cache
* gtk/gtkicontheme.c: Use icon caches if they are available.
Currently, GTK+ uses the cache to get information about the
available sizes, image file formats and .icon files. The
actual image data, and the .icon file contents are not
cached yet.
* gtk/updateiconcache.c: A cmdline utility for generating
icon cache files.
* gtk/gtkiconcache.h:
* gtk/gtkiconcache.c: The glue code to mmap an icon cache
file and manage the information it contains.

Make it possible to specify additional modules to load
via a setting. (#117236, Alex Graveley)
* gtk/gtkmodules.h:
* gtk/gtkmodules.c: New files which contain the module
handling code which was previously in gtkmain.[hc].
Additionally, the code now looks for the gtk-modules
setting, which can specify additional modules to load.
* gtk/gtkmain.c:
* gtk/gtkmain.h: Remove all the module handling code.
* gtk/gtkdebug.h: Add a debug flag for modules.
* gtk/gtk.h: Include gtkmodules.h
* gtk/Makefile.am (gtk_public_h_sources): Add gtkmodules.h
(gtk_c_sources): Add gtkmodules.c
* gtk/gtksettings.c: Add the gtk-modules setting.
* gdk/x11/gdkevents-x11.c: Add the Gtk/Modules XSetting.
Thu Jun 20 15:17:14 2002 Owen Taylor <otaylor@redhat.com>
* gtk/gtkstyle.[ch]: Get rid of gtk_style_get_font_for_display(),
make gtk_style_get_font() warn for multihead if called
on an unattached style.
* gtk/gtktext.c: Remove use of gtk_style_get_font_for_display();
this makes gtktext not multihead safe, but it doesn't matter;
it's ENABLE_BROKEN anyways.
* gtk/gtkmain.c gtk/gtkdebug.h: Add GTK_NOTE(MULTIHEAD,[])
Wed Feb 20 14:26:47 2002 Owen Taylor <otaylor@redhat.com>
* gtk/gtkkeyhash.[ch]: Implement "fuzzy" key binding lookups;
allow matches on key and level but not group. Also, implement
ignoring "consumed modifiers correctly."
* gtk/gtkaccelgroup.c gtk/gtkbindings.c: Convert to using
GtkKeyHash.
* gtk/gtkdebug.h gtk/gtkmain.c: Support GTK_DEBUG=keybindings
* gdk/x11/gdkevents-x11.c (gdk_event_translate): Fill in
the group for key release events as well as key press events.
* gdk/gdkkeys.h gdk/x11/gdkkeys-x11.c (gdk_keymap_translate_keyboard_state):
Rename unused_modifiers to consumed_modifiers, make the docs and
non-Xkb implementation match the Xkb implementation.
* gdk/linux-fb/gdkkeyboard-fb.c gdk/win32/gdkkeys-win32.c: Propagate
doc and parameter name changes.
* gdk/x11/gdkkeys-x11.c (gdk_keymap_translate_keyboard_state):
XkbTranslateKeyCode doesn't handle LockMask, we need to handle
it ourselves.
* gdk/x11/gdkkeys-x11.c (gdk_keymap_translate_keyboard_state): Force
<Shift>Tab to give GDK_ISO_Left_Tab, since we need consistency
to allow dealing with ISO_Left_Tab.
* gtk/gtkwindow.c gtk/gtktextview.c gtk/gtkscrolledwindow.c
gtk/gtkpaned.c gtk/gtkcombo.c gtk/gtknotebook.c:
Remove inappropriate uses of GDK_ISO_Left_Tab. (GDK_ISO_Left_Tab
or <Shift>Tab both are equivalent as a binding specifier.)
* gtk/gtkbutton.c (gtk_button_class_init): Make ::activate
GTK_RUN_ACTION, so you can bind an accelerator to it.
* gtk/gtklabel.c (gtk_label_set_uline_text_internal): Call
gdk_unicode_to_keyval on the mnemonic character.
* tests/testgtk.c: Add a test for the new fuzzy key binding matching.
Sun Feb 4 07:55:17 2001 Tim Janik <timj@gtk.org>
* gtk/gtksignal.h: removed gtk_signal_init() compat define.
* gtk/gtktypeutils.[hc]: gtk_tpye_init() take an additional argument
GTypeDebugFlags debug_flags and pass it on to g_type_init ();
deprecated this function.
* gdk/gdk.c (gdk_init_check): call g_type_init () with 0 as
argument.
Sun Feb 4 07:45:45 2001 Tim Janik <timj@gtk.org>
* gtk/gtkdebug.h: nuke GTK_DEBUG_OBJECTS and GTK_DEBUG_SIGNALS.
Sun Feb 4 07:59:57 2001 Tim Janik <timj@gtk.org>
* gdk-pixbuf.h: DOH! don't include glib/gobject.h but glib-object.h,
we finally need the gobject->gruntime rename.
* *.c: scratched calls to g_type_init(), there's simply no point in
doing that, use gtk_init().
2001-01-26 Havoc Pennington <hp@redhat.com>
* gtk/gtktextlayout.c (convert_color): adapt to handle PangoColor
* gtk/gtktreeview.c (gtk_tree_view_widget_to_tree_coords): fix to
not offset by TREE_VIEW_HEADER_HEIGHT
(gtk_tree_view_tree_to_widget_coords): fix to not offset by
TREE_VIEW_HEADER_HEIGHT
* configure.in (included_loaders): for me, --with-included-loaders
generates the error "the specified loader yes does not exist",
i.e. the arg defaults to "yes", so change test for value ""
to test for value "yes", and include all loaders in that case.
* gtk/gtkrbtree.c (_gtk_rbtree_get_depth): new function
* gtk/gtktreeview.c (gtk_tree_view_get_cell_rect): fix to properly
handle TREE_VIEW_VERTICAL_SEPARATOR
(gtk_tree_view_bin_expose): fix to consider the row offset as
pointing halfway into vertical separator.
(gtk_tree_view_draw_node_focus_rect): ditto
* gtk/gtkdebug.h, gtk/gtkmain.c (gtk_init_check): Add
--gtk-debug=updates, which causes gdk_window_set_debug_updates
(TRUE) to be called.
* gdk/gdkwindow.c (gdk_window_set_debug_updates): Allow enabling a
debug mode where the invalid region is colored in on invalidate,
so you can see the flicker and know whether your redraw code is
doing a good job.
* gtk/gtktreeview.c (gtk_tree_view_queue_draw_node): Work in
tree window coordinates (clip rect is in tree window coords)
* gtk/Makefile.am: add gtktreednd.[hc]
* gtk/gtkliststore.c: implement gtktreednd interfaces.
* gtk/gtktreednd.c, gtk/gtktreednd.h: New interface to support
drag-and-drop data operations on a model (so we can set up tree
drag-and-drop automatically)
* gtk/testgtk.c: Add a window to change sensitivity in the
GtkLabel test; add a way to change the entry frame in GtkEntry
test
* gtk/gtkentry.c (gtk_entry_set_has_frame):
(gtk_entry_get_has_frame): new functions to remove the frame
around an entry
(gtk_entry_size_request): shrink requisition if no frame
(gtk_entry_draw_focus): don't draw frame if no frame
* gtk/gtkstyle.c (gtk_default_draw_check): draw custom look for
checks inside a cell renderer
(gtk_default_draw_option): ditto for options

GObject refcounting.
* gtk/gtkcellrenderer.c (gtk_cell_renderer_init): ref/sink
* gtk/gtkcellrenderertoggle.c (gtk_cell_renderer_toggle_render):
Use theme functions to draw the toggles
* gdk/gdkpango.c (gdk_pango_get_gc): use GdkRGB to alloc colors
* gdk/gdkpango.h, gdk/gdkpango.c: Add GdkPangoAttrStipple and
GdkPangoAttrEmbossed to use in rendering insensitive text
* gdk/gdkpango.c (gdk_draw_layout_line): render new properties
* gtk/gtkstyle.c (gtk_default_draw_layout): handle sensitivity
using new GDK features
