b4981f9d4c Widgets: change QWidget::setTabOrder to understand compound widgets
A "compound widget" is a widget that has a focus proxy set to an inner
child. This is normal for complex black-box components where focus handling
is delegated to the children. Since the compound can have several
children, a local tab order might exist between them.

The current implementation of setTabOrder had no idea about
compound widgets. As such, when connecting two compounds in the
tab chain, it would just break up their inner tab order and
cause tabbing to ignore children other than the proxy.

The new implementation recognizes compound widgets, and add some
extra code to figure out the correct tab targets. This way, the
local tab order between the children will be preserved.

This implementation was inspired by the patches of Marek Wieckowski posted
in the linked bug report, and later modified by Nikita Krupenko.

[ChangeLog][Widgets] QWidget::setTabOrder() will now preserve the local
tab order inside a widget if it has a focus proxy set to an inner child.

ff2e9a17e7 Fix crash when reparenting window container
QWindowContainer assumed that a widget could never change from
native to non-native. This is not a fact when the window container
is reparented to toplevel and back. In this case, usesNativeWidgets
would be stuck at true, and parentWasChanged() would go down the
native widget path, triggering an assert.

The solution is to always recalculate the usesNativeWidgets bool.

0dbede2b17 Widgets: be able to tab to a widget that has a focus proxy
When tabbing/searching for the next focus widget, the current
code would check if the next widget in the focus chain
had a focus proxy, and if so, ignore it. The exact reason
for this behavior is not clearly understood, but some widgets
(e.g QSpinBox) has children (a QLineEdit) that sets the parent
as focus proxy. If we didn't ignore children with focus proxy, tabbing
from a QSpinBox would lead us to find the inner QLineEdit, which
(because of its proxy), would lead us back to the QSpinBox. And
therefore not be able to tab out.

But ignoring the focus proxy has other problems. Normally a focus
proxy is the next sibling to the widget it acts as a proxy for, and
tabbing to the widget will therefore appear correct. But if the
focus proxy is not the next sibling, the logic will fail, since
the tab would anyway give focus to the next sibling. This becomes very
apparent if the focus proxy is a child of the widget, since then
its likely that the focus proxy is not the _first_ child among all
the children. So tabbing to the parent would not give focus to
the proxy.

This patch will change this logic so that you are allowed to tab to a
widget with a focus proxy. But we check that if you do so, you actually
end up moving focus in the right direction. If not, we ignore it like
before. This will ensure that we tab correctly when dealing with focus
proxies, and especially when focus proxies are used to construct
compound widgets.

[ChangeLog][Widgets] When tabbing to a widget with focus proxy, focus
will now be given to the proxy rather than just being ignored.

b65e30c861 QWidget: Call appropriate QWindow method from setGeometry_sys()
When calling resize() from showEvent(), we'd set the full geometry
on the widget's QWindow. This resulted in the top-level window
being moved to the top-left corner, even though no other call to
move() or setGeometry() had happened before.

The solution consists on calling the proper QWindow methods depending
on whether setGeometry_sys() is called for a move, a resize or both.

Furthermore, this needs QWindow::resize() to set its position policy
to frame-exclusive. The documentation states that is already the case
and we're setting the full geometry on the platform window, so we need
to convey that bit of information.

This also solves the age-old conundrum: "### why do we have isMove as
a parameter?"

fdfa3b1141 Skip tst_QWidget::testForOutsideWSRangeFlag
The test assumes that resizing a QWidget to 0x0 will result in the
QWindow ending up with that size, and hence not being exposed, but
this is not the case. On a QWindow level we treat 0x0 as a trigger
for the platform layer to set the default size, and the window
ends up exposed.

Ideally QWindows should allow 0x0 sizes, but this is a bigger change.
In the meantime, we skip the tests so that other changes can be
integrated without the test failing.

d7a9e08f0a Make QWindow::setVisible() work for widgets
QWidget has its own setVisible() code that needs to
be run in order to correctly transition widget visibility.

It is desirable to be able to show and hide (native)
widgets also from the QWindow side, for example from
the platform plugin, or from generic QWindow handling
code in QtGui.

Add a new virtual QWindowPrivate::setVisible() and
move the QWindow visibility implementation there.
Subclasses can now override this function to add custom
code.

Make QWidgetPrivate::show/hide_sys() call the QWindowPrivate
setVisible implementation instead of the QWindow setVisible
public API.

The problem is old: after we get a surface, a window manager can still

e5c0371d18 Fix propagation of locale from widget to its children
Fix the condition in QWidgetPrivate::resolveLocale() to decide whether
to propagate locale: make it match setLocale_helper()'s condition when
deciding whether to propagate to descendants. This lead to a
QDateTimeEdit's calendar popup not getting told what locale to use
correctly, unless we setLocale() on it overtly, which then blocked
propagation of locale changes to it unless QDateTimeEdit manually
propagated the changes.

Fix the documentation of WA_WindowPropagation to mention locale as
also being propagated (which it was in several places, only neglecting
this one in resolveLocale).

[ChangeLog][QWidget][Qt::WA_WindowPropagation] Propagate locale
consistently, along with font and palette, within the widget
hierarchy. Previously, locale was propagated on ancestral
setLocale(), but not on creation of the descendant.

a02959bb5b Make QWindow's windowState a QFlags of the WindowState
This reflects QWidget API, and restores some behavior from Qt4.
Some WM can have several state at the same time. On Plasma for example,
when a window is both maximized and minimized, the "maximized" checkbox
is checked from the taskbar entry.

The API of QPlatformWindow was changed to take a QFlag and the platform
plugins were adapted.

 - On XCB: Always send the full state to the WM. And read the full state.

 - On Windows: The code was originally written with '&' in Qt4, and was changed
to == when porting. Some adaptation had to be made so the states would be
   preserved.

 - On macOS: Only a single state can be set and is reported back for now,
with the possibly to expand this in the future.

 - Other platforms: Just do as before with the effective state.

75f5e2bef2 Deprecate QString::null
It's a Qt 3 compatibility vehicle, and as such inherits the now-alien
property to distinguish empty and null strings. Particularly worrisome
is the following asymmetry:

   QString("") == QString::null          // false
   QString("") == QString(QString::null) // true

Instead of fixing this behavior, recognize that people might use it as
a weird way to call isNull(), albeit one that once was idiomatic, and
simply deprecate everything that deals with QString::null.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QString] QString::null is now deprecated. When
used to construct a QString, use QString() instead. When used to
compare to a QString, replace with QString::isNull().

1d9270ee42 Fix DPI of QWidget with parent on a different screen
If a floating QWidget has a parent on a different screen, its DPI was
still inherited from the parent instead of taken from the screen.

The only reason we did was in case there is a customDpi set.
(customDpi is a private thing that is only used in designer to change
the appearance of the previewed widget)

So instead of recursing into QWidget::metric for each ancestor, just
use a for loop to find if one parent has a customDpi. If no customDpi
is found, then return the DPI of the right screen.

The implementation now uses the relaxed-constexpr
qCountTrailingZeroBits() function from QtAlgorithms, making the

dfc338613e Make QPlatformSurface events work with QWindowContainer
Embeddeding a QWindow via QWidget::createWindowContainer() fails to
deliver the SurfaceAboutToBeDestroyed event. This breaks any OpenGL
or Vulkan based QWindow that releases resources upon this event, and
is particularly critical with Vulkan where the only way to do properly
ordered swapchain - surface cleanup is via this event.

In the non-embedded case close() eventually ends up in an explicit
destroy() in QWindow. In the embedded case destroy() only gets called
from ~QWindow. This then silently breaks since the subclass' reimplemented
event() virtual is not getting called anymore.

To remedy the problem, simply add an explicit destroy() to
QWindowContainer.

b952bd3605 QSizePolicy: make (Policy,Policy) ctor constexpr
Unfortunately, that ctor also takes a ControlType argument (defaulted),
and calls the non-constexpr, non-inline function setControlType().

In order to make at least the two-arg version constexpr, I added
a use of the ternary operator to check for type == DefaultType,
making all calls of the ctor that use type == DefaultType
constexpr. For init'ing an aggregate type without ctor in the
ctor-init-list, I needed to require uniform initialization, too.

C++11-style constexpr cannot call void functions, so I needed
to extract the transformation part of setControlType() into a
new function that returns the result instead of storing it directly.

Saves a surprising 2K in QtWidgets text size on GCC 4.9, AMD64 Linux
stripped release builds.

8b9b27bced QSizePolicy: add a transposed() method
In some situations, this allows for nicer code. It's also possible to
make this constexpr in C++11, whereas the mutable transpose() would
require C++14-style constexpr.

The new function should also be faster, since it just swaps the member
variables.

Because of constexpr-function limitations, the way the return value is
constructed needs to depend on the level of the compiler's C++11 support.
This is not the only class that requires uniform init to provide a fully
constexpr interface (QUuid and QBasicAtomic come to mind), so this should
probably be generalized across Qt at some point.

Added tests.

[ChangeLog][QtWidgets][QSizePolicy] Added transposed() method.

080daae7cd Plug new leaks in tst_QFormLayout
The new takeRow() functions return a pair of pointers to
QLayoutItems and, as the name particle 'take' suggests,
releases ownership of these layout items. Which in turn
means that the caller of the function is supposed to deal
with them.

This was not done here.

To fix, write a RAII class that takes ownership of the
returned layout items, deleting them when it goes out of
scope or gets a new value assigned (only move special
member functions are implemented, making the class move
-only).

Deleting the QLayoutItems is not so easy, though:
QFormLayout has a special function for clearing the
QLayoutItems out, so it appears that just calling their
destructors is not going to fly (though I don't know off
the top of the head why that should be a problem).

Solve this, for now, by adding the layout items back into
a temporary QFormLayout for destruction.

25c9a6c9b4 QtWidgets: Fix enter/leave events on popup menus
If the sloppy menu popups - send the leave event to the last active
menu (except Cocoa), because only currect active menu gets enter/leave
events (currently Cocoa is an exception).

Check that the menu really has a mouse before hiding the sloppy menu -
don't rely on enter events.

This patch removes some unnecessary synthetic mouse enter/leave events
from QMenu which causes event duplications with different mouse cursor
position.

Refactor sloppy menu timer handling - start or restart timers on mouse
move events. Enter/leave events are not reliable.

Fixes:
- better enter/leave events handling for native widget actions,
- reduce duplicated enter/leave events for menu actions,
- better handle torn off sloppy menus.

Restoring/minimizing the TLW now sends the spontaneous show/hide event.

Show events are now handled also in the expose event handler in the

expose event to avoid possible flicker e.g. the OpenGL content. This
can happen e.g. on XCB platform. If the "WindowStateChange" event occur
before the expose event (e.g. Windows platform) then the code in expose
event handler will be ignored to prevent event duplications.

23bed9f820 Remove tst_QWidget::immediateRepaintAfterShow().
It tested whether a paint event was received when calling QWidget::repaint()
right after QWidget::show() without waiting for the window to be exposed.

This caused a QEvent::UpdateRequest to be sent, which ended up in
QWidgetBackingStore::sync() which returns after checking
QWidgetBackingStore::discardSyncRequest(), since Qt::WA_Mapped is not set
on the non-exposed widget.

The test passed on Windows since it contains one call to
QCoreApplication::processEvents() which causes the the initial WM_PAINT
message to be processed in QWindowsWindow::handleWmPaint() which calls
QWindowSystemInterface::flushWindowSystemEvents() and causes Qt::WA_Mapped
to be set. This seems counter to the intention of the test.

Remove the test since it won't pass anymore in Qt 5 unless Qt::WA_Mapped is set.

bc410cc706 QtWidgets: Reduce paint events when resizing native widget
This patch reduces paint events by removing code which sets native
widgets dirty in QWidgetWindow::handleExposeEvent. Native widgets are
also marked dirty in QWidgetPrivate::drawWidget, so it is enough for
proper painting.

This restores Qt4 behavior when one resize means one repaint for native
widgets. Without this patch the native widget is marked as dirty on
every expose event, so one repaint is from syncBackingStore and second
(or more) is from marking the widget dirty explicitly.

This patch improves performance of native widgets and it also reduces
locks when paint event is v-synced, e.g. on OpenGL swap buffers or on
any other technology like VDPAU, VA-API, etc.

Added autotest for checking number of paint events for native widgets.

03e9c6f4a6 Add support for Apple tvOS
Pass -xplatform macx-tvos-clang to configure to build.
Builds device and simulator by default.

Added ‘uikit’ platform with the common setup.
Also added QT_PLATFORM_UIKIT define (undocumented).
qmake config defines tvos (but not ios).

tvOS is 64bits only (QT_ARCH is arm64) and requires bitcode to be
embedded in the binary. A new ‘bitcode’ configuration was added.
For ReleaseDevice builds (which get archived and push to the store),
bitcode is actually embedded (-fembed-bitcode passed to clang). For all
other configurations, only using bitcode markers to keep file size
down (-fembed-bitcode-marker).

Build disables Widgets in qtbase, and qtscript (unsupported,
would require fixes to JavaScriptCore source code).

Qpa same as on iOS but disables device orientation, status bar, clipboard,
menus, dialogs which are not supported on tvOS.

88c4388022 tst_QWidget: make it stable on OS X
This patch QSKIPs all tests that:
- take to much time sitting in some QTRY_VERIFY or similar before failing
- result in 'not in fullscreen mode' warning (with PASS) - thus completely flaky.
- Where previously determined to not apply to OS X using QT_OS_MAC

The intent is to make the test run-time more reasonable,
both when running the test locally and on the CI system.

Reduce the BLACKLIST - to avoid a 'double elimination' the tests that are skipped now,
should not be BLACKLISTed so that we fix them for good.

8fbae648db Implement QFormLayout row removal
QFormLayout currently allows to remove a row only through takeAt, which
doesn't resize the internal structure used to store the layout-related
data. The implementation of rowCount uses that structure so it returns
a row count that doesn't match what the user sees.

The removeRow methods complement that be doing a "real" removal which
will also keep the row count in sync.

[ChangeLog][QtWidgets][QFormLayout] Added removeRow(), takeRow().

559152d911 Make an implicit grab on TouchBegin for a widget subscribed to a gesture
A receiver of TouchUpdate and TouchEnd events is determined either
as a widget which has an implicit grab for the touch point or as a
visible widget if there are no implicit grabs. The events are sent
if the receiver has accepted TouchBegin event or if it is subscribed
to a gesture. Before sending the events to the widget they are
delivered to the gesture manager. Thus, in order to detect gestures
for the widget, it must own an implicit grab or be a visible widget.

It can happen that the parent widget is subscribed to a gesture, but
doesn't accept TouchBegin event, as in the case of QScrollArea. Then it
will not get an implicit grab and gesture detection will be impossible.

Activate an implicit grab for such widgets. Also don't send TouchUpdate
and TouchEnd to them, because it's against the documentation.

Two (?) tests can fail: what they actually try to test is that our application
quits on the second single shot timer (2 s. timeout) and not on the first one
(timeout 1 s.) - on the first timeout we either ignore event, or we still have another
window and should not quit yet, on the second timeout we actually do quit the app.
The test checks this in a quite fragile way, counting the number of timeouts for the third 100 ms
timer. It looks like on OS X (VM-only) there is some delay (~500-600 ms) before we receive the
first timeout so the count is always 14 or less, making the test to fail.

51af196ba0 QWidgetWindow: use sendEvent to forward events to the wrapped QWidget
The fallback code for unhandled event types in QWidgetWindow::event
directly called event() on the underlying QWidget (i.e. m_widget->event(e)).

The problem with that approach is that it does not activate any
event filters that can have been installed on the top level widget.
Instead, let's use sendEvent to forward the event to the widget.

An extra modification becomes necessary:
the events received when creating/showing/etc. a widget change,
hence the corresponding test needs to be tuned. On the other hand,
apparently this fixes a long time XFAIL in that test.

76922a706f Decide whether to synthesize mouse events on a per device basis
Currently Qt uses the QPlatformIntegration::StyleHint
SynthesizeMouseFromTouchEvents to check whether to synthesize mouse
events from touch events. But not only platform plugins can produce
touch events, they can be created by e.g. QTest::touchEvent() and in
this case we almost definitely need synthesizing regardless of the
platform.

This commit introduces a QTouchDevice::MouseEmulation capability which
replaces use of the QPlatformIntegration::SynthesizeMouseFromTouchEvents.
So it's possible to pass QTouchDevice without this capability to
QTest::touchEvent() and be sure that mouse events will be synthesized.
Notice that touch pads always emulate mouse events.
As a result we can activate some tests which were disabled for specific
platform configurations by commits 6c1670d8c2
and e9760f1559.

983dde1f2f Avoid adding widget to its own layout
Widgets and layouts added or inserted to a layout are checked for:
- Not being NULL
- Not being the parent widget of a layout or the layout itself,
  respectively

Without this commit, adding a widget to its own layout would result in a
CPU-hogging infinite loop. Now, a warning is written to stderr and the
add or insert function call is ignored.

The checks are implemented as public functions of QLayoutPrivate and
thus accessible in QLayout's descendants to be used in various
"addWidget", "insertWidget", etc functions.

Unlike 'classical' layouts like QGridLayout, QFormLayout does indeed
accept widgets that are NULL. To not break this behavior, any call for
the check functions first tests if the widget or layout, respectively,
to test is NULL or not and calls the check only in the latter case.

Automated tests for QBoxLayout, QGridLayout, and QFormLayout were added.
For an unpatched Qt 5.3, each of those automated tests will freeze as
explained in QTBUG-40609. For a fixed version, warning messages about
invalid parameters to addWidget/addLayout/... calls will be read by
QTest::ignoreMessage, resulting in a passed test.

6060dab13a Fix issue where revealed widget children do not receive paint event.
When a child of a widget is spontaneously revealed due to a call to
the parent 'resize' method, the child will not receive a paint event
if it has the WA_StaticContents and WA_OpaquePaintEvent flags set.

This is caused by the backing store being pre-emptively resized by the
call to setGeometry_sys, which causes QWidgetBackingStore::sync to skip
the block which handles the static contents.

There doesn't appear to be any reason to preemptively resize the backing
store, since it is always resized as-needed during the the 'sync' method.
This change-set removes the code which preemptively resizes the backing
store.

de1b98e9c1 Fallback to QWidget::grab() if QScreen::grabWindow() fails.
QScreen::grabWindow() is not always reliable because it grabs from the
framebuffer. (The window might then be covered by other windows, e.g.
"Stays on top"-Windows, popups etc).
If QScreen::grabWindow() fails we therefore fallback to
QWidget::grab(). This will not grab from the frame buffer, but it will
ask the widget to render itself (with its current state) to a pixmap
and return it.
QWidget::grab() should usually return the expected pixmap, and the
pixmap it gives is not subject to the state of the window manager.

This means that both QScreen::grabWindow() *and* QWidget::grab()
must produce an unexpected pixmap in order for the test to fail.

8fcab70408 Avoid crash due to accessing deleted QWidgetWindow object
Change childWidget->windowHandle() to childWidget->internalWinId() in
q_createNativeChildrenAndSetParent() to determine whether should we call
childWidget->winId().
This is because in some circumstances Qt will crash due to accessing
deleted QWidgetWindow object if we use windowHandle(). Think about the
following scenario:

1) create a widget A without parent and add two child widgets B and C to A

2) create a native widget D as the child of B, note that when we set
Qt::WA_NativeWindow attribute to it, its QWidgetWindow will be created
which means its windowHandle() is not null.

3) create a top level widget E as the child of C and show it. This will
make Qt call createWinId() to A and then
q_createNativeChildrenAndSetParent() will be called to create A's native
children recursively and finally make D's QWidgetWindow object become a
child of A's QWidgetWindow object. Please note here that B will not become
a native widget just because at that moment windowHandle() of D is not
null and Qt will not call winId() to its parent B

4) Set A's parent to another widget which has been shown, setParent_sys()
will be called to A and then Qt will call destroy() to A. in destroy() Qt
will try to call destroy() to its children recursively with a condition that
the child has Qt::WA_NativeWindow been set. But D's parent B is not a native
widget right now so B and D is not destroyed. Qt will then deleted the
QWidgetWindow object of A, since E's QWidgetWindow object is a child of
A's QWidgetWindow object, it will also be deleted. Now E hold a deleted
pointer of QWidgetWindow object. This is the source of crash later.

773610cc45 Revert "Ensure Qt::WA_Mapped is set in case of obscured native windows."
Qt::WA_Mapped maps (sic) to windowHandle()->isExposed(), and we set/update
it in QWidgetWindow::handleExposeEvent(). Setting it directly in show_sys
shortcuts QPA and assumes showing a window is synchronous on all platforms,
resulting in trying to flush the widget backingstore when the window was
not exposed yet (due to discardSyncRequest starting to return false).

This reverts commit 829b1d13b2.

54b8c27e03 Fix crash when windowcontainer is used in a dockwidget
The dockwidget's toplevel window would be a parent of the container's
window when floating. When plugged back into the mainwindow the
dockwidget's window is destroyed and the container's window along
with it. Added a function toplevelAboutToBeDestroyed to unparent
the containers window before this happens so parentWasChanged will
work correctly.

de5b3780cf QFormLayout: Avoid assertion with negative spacings.
It's not really clear if styles *must* return a non-negative value for
QStyle::pixelMetric(PM_Layout{Vertical,Horizontal}Spacing), but both
QBoxLayout and QGridLayout seems to be robust enough to handle this.
They will simply make sure that the spacing is never negative.
We therefore make QFormLayout equally robust.

7b33bd4110 Fix stability issues in tst_qwidget with VERIFY_COLOR
The grabbing always grabbed the desktop. This caused it to also grab
tooltips, siderbars etc that could overlap the window which again
caused the pixmap comparison to obviously fail.

This will currently only fix it on windows. If needed, it should also
be fixed for other platforms.

72a7882cec Better QWindowContainer by not relying on native widgets.
We change the behavior slightly from the initial implementation in
5.1. Forcing the use of native child widgets is causing massive
performance issues so instead, we attach the embedded QWindow directly
to the root window. The only exception is QScrollArea and QMdiArea
which still enforces native windows for the entire parent chain
to make clipping and stacking work.

b855e57804 Fix layouts with expanding items with maximum size
Layout items with a Preferred size policy would be treated as fixed
size if they were in the same layout as an Expanding item (or one with
a stretch factor).

This occurred e.g. if a layout was configured similar to this:
1. One item with ExpandFlag/stretch but with a maximumSize set,
   e.g. (100x100).
2. Another item with 'just' GrowFlag, and a maximum size bigger than
   its size hint.

If the above layout was resized to e.g. (200x50) it would cause the
expanding item to correctly get the size (100x50), but the 'growing'
item would not stretch beyond its size hint.
Instead, it would distribute space around both items, behaving as if
the 'growing' item was fixed'.

The expected behavior is to continue to grow the 'growing' item after
the expanding item has reached its size limit.
