fc76767692 Long live Q_UNREACHABLE_RETURN()!
This is a combination of Q_UNREACHABLE() with a return statement.

ATM, the return statement is unconditionally included. If we notice
that some compilers warn about return after __builtin_unreachable(),
then we can map Q_UNREACHABLE_RETURN(...) to Q_UNREACHABLE() without
having to touch all the code that uses explicit Q_UNREACHABLE() +
return.

The fact that Boost has BOOST_UNREACHABLE_RETURN() indicates that
there are compilers that complain about a lack of return after
Q_UNREACHABLE (we know that MSVC, ICC, and GHS are among them), as
well as compilers that complained about a return being present
(Coverity). Take this opportunity to properly adapt to Coverity, by
leaving out the return statement on this compiler.

Apply the macro around the code base, using a clang-tidy transformer
rule:

    const std::string unr = "unr", val = "val", ret = "ret";
    auto makeUnreachableReturn = cat("Q_UNREACHABLE_RETURN(",
                                    ifBound(val, cat(node(val)), cat("")),
                                    ")");
    auto ignoringSwitchCases = [](auto stmt) {
        return anyOf(stmt, switchCase(subStmt(stmt)));
    };

    makeRule(
       stmt(ignoringSwitchCases(stmt(isExpandedFromMacro("Q_UNREACHABLE")).bind(unr)),
            nextStmt(returnStmt(optionally(hasReturnValue(expr().bind(val)))).bind(ret))),
       {changeTo(node(unr), cat(makeUnreachableReturn,
                                ";")), // TODO: why is the ; lost w/o this?
        changeTo(node(ret), cat(""))},
       cat("use ", makeUnreachableReturn))
    );

where nextStmt() is copied from some upstream clang-tidy check's
private implementation and subStmt() is a private matcher that gives
access to SwitchCase's SubStmt.

A.k.a. qt-use-unreachable-return.

There were some false positives, suppressed them with NOLINTNEXTLINE.

They're not really false positiives, it's just that Clang sees the
world in one way and if conditonal compilation (#if) differs for other
compilers, Clang doesn't know better. This is an artifact of matching
two consecutive statements.

I haven't figured out how to remove the empty line left by the
deletion of the return statement, if it, indeed, was on a separate
line, so post-processed the patch to remove all the lines matching
^\+ *$ from the diff:

  git commit -am meep
  git reset --hard HEAD^
  git diff HEAD..HEAD@{1} | sed '/^\+ *$/d' | recountdiff - | patch -p1

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QtAssert] Added Q_UNREACHABLE_RETURN() macro.

0dadb951b5 qobjectrace test: Don't hardcode the number of threads
Use QThread::idealThreadCount instead. This requires that we use
QVarLengthArray, as MSVC doesn't allow us to allocate arrays with a
non-constexpr size on the stack.

By using as many threads as the system has cores, we are more likely
to detect race conditions reliably. On systems with fewer cores (in
particular on qemu platforms like QNX, where this test has been
failing a lot), we'll less likely end up with false negatives due
to timeouts.

277c23956c tst_qobjectrace: fix potential UB (something with pointers and new)
The current [basic.life] wording seems to cover the existing code, but
IIRC, older versions of [basic.life] were not so relaxed. In
particular, while not completely pertinent, the second placement new
is awfully similar to http://eel.is/c++draft/ptr.launder#example-1

Just make all of this SEP and use std::optional. That way, the code
gets simpler, too, plus we get rid of the last use of C++23-deprecated
std::aligned_storage.

The reset() before the 2nd emplace() isn't necessary, but, in a test,
it doesn't hurt, either, and keeps code readers from guessing whether
the first-emplaced object's dtor is actually properly run (it is).

71b4d4f150 Fix crash in concurrent disconnect
This does not fix all data races that we have in the system yet.
One major issue is the virtual disconnectNotify(), that can be
called from any thread and thus is inherently problematic, as it
can collide with the object getting destroyed at the same time
in another thread.

34fe9232db Port from QAtomic::load() to loadRelaxed()
Semi-automated, just needed ~20 manual fixes:

$ find \( -iname \*.cpp -or -iname \*.h \) -exec perl -pe 's/(\.|->)load\(\)/$1loadRelaxed\(\)/g' -i \{\} +
$ find \( -iname \*.cpp -or -iname \*.h \) -exec perl -pe 's/(\.|->)store\(/$1storeRelaxed\(/g' -i \{\} +

It can be easily improved (e.g. for store check that there are no commas
after the opening parens). The most common offender is QLibrary::load,
and some code using std::atomic directly.

f24cc53cc2 Fix for race condition in signal activation
There was a race condition between QObject::disconnect() and
QMetaObject::activate() which can occur if there are multiple
BlockingQueued connections to one signal from different threads and
they connect/disconnect their connections often.

What can happen in this case is:
T1 is in activate() method and T2 is in disconnect() method

T1                          T2
locks sender mutex
selects next connection
unlocks sender mutex
                            locks sender mutex
                            sets isSlotObject to false
creates QMetaCallEvent      derefs connection
posts event

Two things can happen here:
1. Connection can still be valid, but it will have isSlotObject==false
and callFunction will be used instead of slotObj
2. Connection can already be invalid

To fix it mutex unlock should be moved after QMetaCallEvent creation.

Also there is another case, when we don't disconnect but delete the
receiver object. In this case it can already be invalid during
postEvent, so we need to move mutex unlock after postEvent.

f805020410 Fix a race that occurred as we unlock the mutex to destroy the functor in ~QObject
When we unlock the mutex, we need to take in account that the Connection
pointed by 'node' may be destroyed in another thread while it is unlocked
Doing 'node->prev = &node' will make sure that 'node' is actually
updated when it is destroyed.

Setting isSlotObject under the mutex is safer and ensure that no other
thread will attempt to deref the object.

The regression was introduced in 5885b8f775

tst_qobjectrace was updated to catch races arising when we are
connecting with function pointers.
