340b972995 Stabilize tst_ForeignWindow::embedForeignWindow()
We only care about no longer being a child of the old parent window,
not what the system does when we reparent to nullptr.

99c70de9a6 Add dedicated child and parent events for QWindow reparenting
When a QWindow is parented into another window, either via its constructor,
or via setParent(), we also update the QObject parent of the window. This
in turn sends ChildAdded and ChildRemoved events to the new and old parent
of the window, as well as ParentAboutToChange and ParentChange to the window
itself.

But at the point when these events are sent, the QWindow parent relationship
has not been fully established. We have not updated d->parentWindow, nor
have we propagated the parent relationship to the platform window.

This is problematic because clients can not use these events to react to
window parent changes synchronously. For example. trying to raise a child
window when added to a parent is not going to work, because at that point
the child window isn't a native child of the parent.

Instead of re-using the QObject events for QWindow, like QWidget does,
by delaying the events or sending them manually at a point when the
window parent relationship has been fully formed, we opt to add new
dedicated events.

be7e5f94a1 macOS: Check NSWindow as well when determining if setVisible can bail out
In be268ae197 we made QCocoaWindow::setVisible
idempotent by checking if NSView.hidden needed update.

This failed to take into account the case when a window is moved from
being a child window to a top level, where the window is still visible
and the NSView's hidden state doesn't change, but we need to order in
the NSWindow that we're now managing.

We now check NSWindow.visible as well, if we're a top level window.

70d7c6a937 Avoid creating child windows twice when already visible
When a child window is made visible without its parent having been
created yet, we defer creating and making the child visible until
the parent is created.

But if a child window is explicitly created, we create the parent
first. And creating the parent will in turn apply visibility to
all children that had their visibility deferred. Which includes
creating the child.

This results in child -> parent -> child creation recursion,
which means that when we return from creating the parent window
we already have a platform window for our child, and should
bail out.

bde443801f QFont: add a tag type for features and other advanced properties
Instead of overloads and generic string literals with runtime checks,
use a dedicated Tag type for specifying the font feature. The Tag type
can only be instantiated with a string literal of exactly 4 characters
(plus the terminating null)l; longer or shorter literals result in a
compile time error.

Constructing a Tag from any other string type is possible through the
named fromString constructor, in which case we can only check the length
and warn at runtime.

The type's API is almost completely constexpr so that we can use it to
calculate e.g. enum values.

4a7c76d4a5 Include what you need: <QPointer>
All these TUs relied on transitive includes of qpointer.h, maybe to a
large extent via qevent.h, though, given that qevent.h is more or less
the only public QtBase header that includes qpointer.h, something else
seems to be at play here.

Said qevent.h actually needs QPointer in-name-only, so a forward
declaration would suffice. Prepare for qevent.h dropping the include.

The algorithm I used was:

If the TU mentions 'passiveGrabbers', the name of the QEvent function
that returns QPointers, and the TU doesn't have qpointer.h included
explicitly, include it. That may produce False Positives, but better
safe than sorry. Otherwise, in src/, add an include to all source and
header files which mention QPointer. Exception: if foo.h of a foo.cpp
already includes it, don't include again.

a890df0283 coretext: Support variable application fonts
Named instances of variable application fonts are exposed
automatically through CTFontManagerCreateFontDescriptorsFromData()
(and also for the URL equivalent).

The main change here is just to call this instead of the overload
which only returns the first font.

Note that this also updates the test: This is because the conversion
from CoreText normalized weight values to TTF values is not 100%.
In the CoreText code, we map Heavy (0.56) to ExtraBold, but ExtraBold
gets converted to 0.6, which is closer to the CoreText value for Black
(0.62).

To avoid hitting this inconsistency, the QtExtraBold has been changed
to Black weight instead, which resolves to the same on all platforms.

801b8304fb Add QTextDocument* constructor argument to QTextMarkdownImporter
QTextMarkdownImporter::import() took a QTD* as if it would be ok to
reuse one instance of QTextMarkdownImporter for repeated importing into
different documents; but in practice, we never do that: in fact it's
usually a short-lived, stack-allocated object, as in
 QTextMarkdownImporter(&doc, QTMI::DialectGitHub).import(input);
So it's less clumsy internally to require the document be provided to
the constructor: that way a QTextCursor can be constructed immediately
too, as part of the importer object rather than separately on the heap.

This is private API, unused outside qtbase.

38380de63c tst_qstatictext: Fix CMake condition
Private libraries were linked conditional to QT_FEATURE_private_tests in
the CMake file. qstatictext_p.h was included conditional to developer
build. A developer build fails, with test enabled and private tests
disabled.

=> Change the CMake condition to QT_FEATURE_developer_build, to resolve
mismatch between CMake and cpp file.

8e0281a8be tests/auto/: port Q_FOREACH to ranged-for, local const containers
These are local containers that are either:
- Already const and didn't need Q_FOREACH to begin with
- Can be simply made const, just by adding const keyword

In one case the unittest checked that the container's size is 1, so use
list.first() instead of a for-loop.

In files where Q_FOREACH isn't used any more, remove
"#undef QT_NO_FOREACH". Also remove those files from NO_PCH_SOURCES.

Drive-by changes:
- Remove parenthesis from one-line for-loops
- Make the for-loop variable a const& where a copy isn't needed

11d6932560 Mark all of Qt as free of Q_FOREACH, except where it isn't
The density of Q_FOREACH uses in this and some other modules is still
extremely high, too high for anyone to tackle in a short amount of
time. Even if they're not concentrated in just a few TUs, we need to
make progress on a global QT_NO_FOREACH default, so grab the nettle
and stick to our strategy:

Mark the whole of Qt with QT_NO_FOREACH, to prevent new uses from
creeping in, and whitelist the affected TUs by #undef'ing
QT_NO_FOREACH locally, at the top of each file. For TUs that are part
of a larger executable, this requires these files to be compiled
separately, so add them to NO_PCH_SOURCES (which implies
NO_UNITY_BUILD_SOURCES, too).

In tst_qglobal.cpp and tst_qcollections.cpp change the comment on the
#undef QT_NO_FOREACH to indicate that these actually test the macro.

14d1108d35 Deprecate Q_ASSUME()
We've known for a long time that this is producing worse code with GCC
because of how we implemented in Q_ASSUME_IMPL(). So bite the bullet and
actually deprecate the macro, replacing all extant Q_ASSUME() with
Q_ASSERT().

The replacement is in C++23. Backporting the support onto Q_ASSUME_IMPL
was previously rejected by reviewers.

[ChangeLog][Deprecation Notice] The Q_ASSUME() macro is deprecated. This
macro has different side-effects depending on the compiler used (GCC
compared to Clang and MSVC), and there are certain conditions under
which GCC is known to produce worse code than if the macro was absent.
To give a hint to the compiler for optimizations, use the C++23
[[assume]] attribute.

f2f8820073 tests: port assorted trivial uses of Q_FOREACH to ranged for loops
All of these fall into the trivial category: loops over (readily made)
const local containers. As such, they cannot possibly depend on the
safety copy that Q_FOREACH performs, so are safe to port as-is to
ranged for loops.

There may be more where these came from, but these were the ones that
stood out as immediately obvious when scanning the 100s of uses in
qtbase, so I preferred to directly fix them over white-listing their
files with QT_NO_FOREACH (which still may be necessary for some files,
as this patch may not port all uses in that file).
