That API has been available for WinRT and Windows
Phone for some time now. By using it to get the
machine name and for hostname resolution we can get
rid of some winrt-only code and use qhostinfo_win.cpp
on WinRT and Windows phone as well.
Additionally the required capability was added to
tst_qhostinfo so that this auto test can be run without
any manual editing.

The qt_poll function calls recv to query whether fds marked by select
as readable should be marked POLLIN or POLLHUP in the pollfd structure.
On many platforms such as QNX this requires extra link-time libraries
which were not previously required by QtCore.
While the qt_poll function is intended as a fallback mechanism only for
those platforms which do not implement poll natively, the function was
compiled unconditionally whenever QT_BUILD_INTERNAL was defined, e.g.
in developer builds.
Additionally the function was included on those systems that define poll
in system headers so that configure determines build-time availability,
but do not define _POSIX_POLL > 0 or indicate POSIX:2008 compliance via
either the _POSIX_VERSION or _XOPEN_VERSION macros. On those systems a
sysconf query for _SC_POLL was performed to determine at runtime whether
to call the system poll or qt_poll.
Both of these cases are in fact counterproductive. In the first case the
sole consumer of the function is a single manual unit test. In the
second, to my knowledge no platform requires the runtime fallback.
Despite that, we were forcing an extra dylib in both cases.
Both cases are fixed by 1) moving the implementation into its own file
for the unit test to include and 2) dropping the dynamic fallback if
configure determines availability of poll at compile-time.
This also reverts commit 1377709711, which
added -lsocket for QtCore on QNX.

That implies we need to differentiate between a variable set but empty
and an empty variable. GCC, Clang and the Intel compiler accept -msse2
on 64-bit builds without warning (they also accept -mno-sse2), but the
Microsoft compiler does not have that option.

This is needed to be able to use Qt (with dynamic ANGLE) in a plugin
while the host runs a different version of Qt (and ANGLE).
In addition to changing the LIBEGL_NAME and LIBGLESV2_NAME variables
you also need to update the value of the LIBRARY definition in the
.def files for ANGLE:

Visual Studio version specific changes have been added to msvc-
desktop.conf which is not used in WinRT or Windows Phone related builds.
Hence take a similar approach to gcc and introduce msvc-base to be used
by all configurations for common settings.
For WinRT this will only be applied to msvc2015 and later on to not
introduce any regressions or behavior changes for previous versions.

While all apps need to have internetClient as a capability, the option
to provide further capabilities via qmake has been removed in the
template.
Instead we add the required items inside the prf and keep the manifest
template as generic as possible.

Note that this technically breaks backwards compatibility, as relative

Instead of lumping both Objective-C (.m) and Objective-C++ (.mm) sources
into the same pile, passing them on to the same compiler as for C++ (CXX),
with the C++ flags (CXXFLAGS), we follow Apple's lead and treat them as
variants of the C and C++ languages separately, so that Objective-C
sources are built with CC and with CFLAGS, and Objective-C++ sources
with CXX, and CXXFLAGS.
This lets us remove a lot of duplicated flags and definitions from the
QMAKE_OBJECTIVE_CFLAGS variable, which in 99% of the cases just matched
the C++ equivalent. The remaining Objective-C/C++ flags are added to
CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS, as the compiler will just ignore them when running in
C/C++ mode. This matches Xcode, which also doesn't have a separate build
setting for Objective-C/C++ flags.
The Makefile qmake generator has been rewritten to support Objective-C/C++
fully, by not assuming that we're just iterating over the C and C++
extensions when dealing with compilation rules, precompiled headers, etc.
There's some duplicated logic in this code, as inherent by qmake's already
duplicated code paths, but this can be cleaned up when C++11 support is
mandatory and we can use lambda functions.

make sure that all specs define QMAKE_{PREFIX,EXTENSION}_{SH,STATIC}LIB,
and adjust the code to make halfways consistent use of these variables,
in particular on windows; Win32MakefileGenerator::getLibTarget() is gone
as a result, as is QMAKE_CYGWIN_SHLIB. still, tons of hardcoded "lib"
references remain in the unix generator, because no-one cares.

If no_generated_target_info is not set, VERSION is set, and
there is no .rc file that belongs to the project, qmake creates a
.rc file that contains information about the target's version
and copyright, for example. This resource handling is also
supported by WinRT and we can add this information to the target.
On Windows Phone, winresrc.h (which is needed for resource
handling) is not available though. When trying to add a .rc file
to a project in Visual Studio, it also complains about winres.h
not being available. Instead of hacking around the issue, we
just should not support this behavior on Windows Phone.

This linker script is only enabled for systems with GCC or GCC-like
compilers, though technically it should work on the BSDs too (will
enable after testing). For regular modules, this declares one ELF
version "Qt_5" and places all QtCore symbols inside, then it declares
unused ELF versions "Qt_5.x" for each older minor release. For modules
declared "internal_module", all symbols are placed in version
Qt_5_PRIVATE_API.
The big advantage of an ELF version is that, when we do Qt 6, both
versions of QtCore could be loaded in memory without conflicts and all
symbols would be resolved to the correct library. No module can talk to
both at the same time, but this avoids mistakes of loading them
indirectly by plugins.
The extra Qt_5.x versions will be used in the next commit.

[ChangeLog][General Improvements] Qt's buildsystem now detects whether
the compiler supports C++14 and experimental support for C++1z. If the
compiler supports it, then Qt is automatically compiled using that
support.

This does not apply to user applications built using qmake: those are
still built with C++11 support only. To enable support for C++14 in your
application, add to your .pro file: CONFIG += c++14 (similarly for
C++1z).

So far the dependency keyword has been ignored for the new Windows 10
mkspecs. The difference to older manifest files is that there is already
a <Dependency> section and hence we embed dependencies inside this one,
as the format standard does not allow to have multiple of those.

Since libstdc++ builds on OS X and QNX 6.5 are no longer supported,
simply require <initializer_list> and std::move in order to claim C++11
support works.

Prefer -std=gnu++11 unless strict_c++11 is defined. You can enable
strict C++11/C++14 mode by using
CONFIG += strict_c++
That is enabled for Qt's own code, so we we don't accidentally use GNU
extensions in portable code.
There's no support for strict C++98 mode (that is, the -ansi option).
[ChangeLog][qmake] By default, GNU extensions are now enabled with
Clang, GCC and ICC even in C++11 and C++14 modes. To disable the GNU
extensions, add to your .pro file: CONFIG += strict_c++.

This causes a warning, which will fail the build. Not sure
what the flag does, as I cannot find any documentation for it, even

This allows creation of applications for
- x86
- x64
- arm
While the arm build theoretically also allows to launch on
a mobile, it currently asserts on runtime. Either we will
create a new mkspec for Windows 10 Mobile in the future,
or do runtime checks for the environment. That also depends
on whether there will be a separate SDK by Microsoft.

GCC 5 combined with a recent binutils have a new optimization that
allows them to generate copy relocations even in -fPIE code. Clang has
the same functionality when compiling an executable with -flto. We need
to let the compilers know that they cannot use copy relocations, so they
need to use really position-independent code.
Position independent code throughout is not really required. We just
need the compilers to use position-independent access to symbols coming
from the Qt libraries, but there's currently no other way of doing that.

this allows LD_LIBRARY_PATH to take precedence over the hard-coded
rpath, which is the only sane thing to do (which is also why i'm not
adding an option to disable it).
this behavior is consistent with non-linux systems.
the windows version has no auto-detection, just like for gold linker
usage.

it makes no sense to let every spec do that separately, as it's fixed
by the generator+shell.
putting it into a file which is loaded regardless of the spec also
allows us to remove the hardcoded fallbacks from qmake.
if somebody overrode the values in their spec for some weird reasons,
they'll need to override spec_post.prf.
shell-{unix,win32}.conf are now dummies and print warnings.

Due to common subexpression elimination instruction set extensions may
leak from the objects where they were enabled when doing link-time
optimizations.

We've been setting the -Zm argument since the dawn of times (even before
the first git commit). Anyhow, MSDN from VS2008 onwards indicates
that this is not needed:
"In earlier versions of Visual C++, the compiler used several discrete
heaps, and each had a finite limit. Currently, the compiler dynamically
grows the heaps as necessary up to a total heap size limit, and requires a
fixed-size buffer only to construct precompiled headers. Consequently, the
/Zm compiler option is rarely necessary."
[ChangeLog][Compiler Specific Changes] Visual Studio: -Zm200 (an option to
specify the precompiled header memory allocation limit) is not added anymore
by qmake to the compiler calls. If you encounter an C1076 compiler error you
might need to re-add it in your .pro file.

QtWebEngine and QtWebKit uses the Qt config to detect if C++11
is enabled. Since it is always enabled on MSVC, we can safely
set the flag indicating it is a C++11 build when using a newer
MSVC version.

Naming for different logo sizes on WinRT has been varying in the
past and evolved from using small/medium/large to some being
explicit (71x71).
Add new values introduced by 8.1 (310x150, 310x310,...) and clean up
mixed usage. Detailed pixel versions overrule general specification
and latter ones stay mostly for compatibility reasons. Still the
preferred way is to use explicit pixel values.

By using the special "ar" and "ranlib" tools, the symbol table is made
visible, so we don't need fat LTO binaries. Since we need to store the
new tool names, we may as well clean up ltcg.prf with variable names for
the fat mode too.

Move compiler warning 4996 from level 3 to 4. This is needed to avoid
warnings about the use of C++ standard library functions like std::copy,
which is used e.g. in qvector.h (since c6752c5aa1):
'std::copy': Function call with parameters that may be unsafe -
this call relies on the caller to check that the passed values are
correct. To disable this warning, use -D_SCL_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS. See
documentation on how to use Visual C++ 'Checked Iterators'
Because the warning has to be disabled before any standard C++ header
is included one cannot just fix this locally in qvector.h.

With the -load_all option turned on then it will cause a problem with
the network bearer plugins as they share the same files and on OS X
two plugins will be built and potentially linked against when building
statically.
This only effects gcc builds because clang does not turn this option on
when linking by default either.

Most files are exactly the same, so it's silly to duplicate this all
over. The differences could have been kept in each of the qmake.conf
files, but I preferred to centralize because they apply to each newer
version and, soon enough, version-specific configuration would grow
again.

Due to the way that the QCC mkspecs are structured, the recent
change to add full optimization support causes the -O2 flag to
be completely dropped from QCC builds in release-with-debuginfo
mode, since the QMAKE_CFLAGS_OPTIMIZE variable is not declared
in any configuration file included by QCC toolchains. This patch
adds the necessary flags to make the QCC toolchain operate correctly.

While it does not look like the clang-based mkspecs had any problems so
far with not having QMAKE_LINK_C and QMAKE_LINK_C_SHLIB defined, it
makes sense to set them to $$QMAKE_CC just like the GCC-based ones so
CONFIG=use_c_linker works as expected.

GCC and Clang support compiler intrinsic error detections tools:
address, memory, thread, undefined
Let users conveniently enable it in qmake, for instance with
CONFIG += sanitizer sanitize_address
Also add a -sanitize [...] option to configure to use it by default
for both the Qt libraries, and user applications.

This patch adds the feature use_gold_linker to use the gold linker that
has been part of of GNU binutils since 2008. Gold links C++ libraries
much faster and use less memory.
The feature is autodetected when building Qt on Linux, but can be disabled
in configure. On MingW builds it is default off but can be enabled for
cross builds.

GCC currently requires fat object files for static libraries, since the
linker would otherwise not load the .o file from the archive at all and
the linking would fail with a lot of undefined references. Clang on
Linux also needs this, but it has no equivalent flag, so enabling LTCG
for Clang on static libraries will result in linker error.
This commit does not add support for enabling it in configure. It can be
enabled on a per-project basis by doing CONFIG += ltcg or by passing
-config ltcg to qmake's command-line.

If the prefix isn't "m2" for the 2013 namespace, Visual Studio Update 2
won't open the document in the designer view. Even though there is
nothing technically wrong with the way it's currently done, change it to
"m2" to keep VS happy.

This matches the -ffunction-sections from bootstrap.pro, which tells the
compiler to create a section for each function. The -gc-sections option
tells the linker to drop what wasn't used (normally, it only drops
entire files).

Move it from bootstrap.pro into qt_module.prf so it will apply to any

Visual Studio does not like empty dependencies block in manifest XML.
At least my Visual Studio 2013 fails to open visual manifest editor for
XML containing the following block:
<Dependencies>
</Dependencies>
If the block is removed or if the block has one or more PackageDependency
entries the editor accepts it.
Moved the <Dependencies> block to prf, so that it is only written when
project really has dependencies. Also <Capabilities> block is moved to prf
for consistency. On Windows Phone, where the <Capabilities> block is
required, it is kept in the output even if it is empty.

This patch adds a new config option to qmake to enable full optimization
where it makes sense. This currently is supported on all gcc like
compilers by exchanging -O2 for -O3.
In qtbase it is used to enable full optimizations on qtcore and qtgui
and in a later patch can be used to replace similar existing logic in
QtWebKit's WTF and JavaScriptCore modules.
This fixes a performance regression from gcc 4.7 to 4.8 in the software
renderer.
An aliasing error in qregion.cpp which was exposed by more aggresive
optimization has been solved as well.

This feature (package_manifest) generates a basic application manifest
from a template provided by the mkspec or the developer. It is meant to
deliver an out-of-the-box build experience without attempting to
exhaustively cover all manifest options. It is meant to be a starting
point which allows the developer to customize the manifest further. It
also becomes the default package manifest generator for Windows Phone,
replacing autogen_wmappmanifest.
Common variables, such as the target executable, are populated by qmake
in the newly created manifest. Default icons are also created if needed,
as the build will fail without them. The input manifest can be set by
assigning a file name to WINRT_MANIFEST. Additional options are
documented in the .prf file. If an existing (non-generated) manifest is
already in the directory, it will not be overwritten.

Dwarf-2 is treated as deprecated (at best) by llvm, and does not support
a lot of C++ language features. Most notably, it does not support
namespaces and template parameters. By not specifying the dwarf version,
the compiler can decide which version to use.

Using wmain causes the problem that the linker seems to create some code
around it, which calls ExitProcess. That function however is forbidden by
the Windows Store Certification process and hence you cannot publish an
application currently. This does not apply to Windows Phone, which links
in such a way that this problem does not occur there.
With WinMain as the entry point this does not happen and also is the
default entry point. Testing locally shows that certification goes fine.
Since it does not pass the full command line string, the C-runtime method
__getmainargs is used instead. This also gives access to any environment
strings which may be passed.
Note that MSDN states that this function should only be used for desktop
applications. For XAML/C++ scenarios there is no entry function at all,
but rather the App object gets instantiated in the default template. But
this only works for XAML itself and not for plain C++ applications,
probably some other entry wrapper is created on the fly here.

Those flags are required to pass the Windows Store App Certification
process. Otherwise apps are not allowed to be published.
The SAFESEH option is only required for x86.
According to documentation APPCONTAINER only talks about the
executable, but when running through the certification, the Qt modules
are reported to be errornous as well.

Compared to other platforms there is no concept of a console
application in WinRT. Hence all applications need to be UI
applications and use winmain.
Furthermore winmain takes care of launch arguments to be
properly converted to arguments passed to user's main().
There is a chicken and egg problem with config.tests as
compilation needs to have an existing entry point which is not
available at configure time.
Hence hardcode the entry point to main for configuring to WinRT.
Those tests are pure compile tests, so the logic of the test
does not change.

Using the same approach as, wince qfunctions_winrt
is introduced to replace functions not available
on Windows Runtime by their successor functions/
equivalents.
Additionally this functionality is used for implementing
a fake environment because WinRT does not support
getting/setting of environment variables. The approach
here is also the same that is used for wince.

WinRT passes the executable and Appx server info to the CRT main, and
supports several additional activation arguments as well. This handles the
arguments passed to main as well as the case where a modern app is
launched from an external application (e.g. Qt Creator).

This require us to set QMAKE_XCODE_GCC_VERSION properly for GCC, so that

The Xcode and SDK settings are expensive to resolve, as we're using
system() calls to resolve them. We now try to detect the presence of
a .qmake.cache file (and inform the user that creating one would be
a good idea), and use the file to cache the various settings after
resolving them.
The Xcode logic had to be moved form xcode.conf as part of the mkspec,
into default_pre/post.prf, so that we could cache() the resolved values.

We depend on Xcode for building Qt itself and user application on Mac OS.
The user may have an Xcode install that is not set up properly, in which
case we would fail compilation in mysterious ways. Instead we try to
detect misconfigured or missing Xcode installs as early as possible.
We try to detect if an Xcode install has not been chosen yet, and
if the user has not accepted the Xcode license agreement. We need to
do these checks both in configure, as early as possible, and in mkspecs
on Mac OS, as we need to error out if the user tries to build an app
with the Qt SDK, but with a broken Xcode install.

We always use the xcodebuild/xcrun/xcode-select binaries in /usr/bin,
as these will dispatch to the right binary based on what Xcode version
has been chosen using xcode-select -switch. This fixes an issue where
a tool was in the path from another Xcode installation. We can rely on
the tools as they are present on a clean Mac OS install.

This means we have to bump the deployment target to Lion (10.7), as the
LLVM 'libc++' C++ standard library does not support Snow Leopard (10.6).
For iOS the deployment target has to be bumped from 4.3 to 5.0, but we
don't enable C++11 by default yet as it's not tested enough on iOS.
Users who wish to deploy to 10.6 need to build their own Qt,
passing -no-c++11 to configure.

unlike unix' mkdir -p, windows' md complains if the directory already
exists. the workaround is a quite complex command, so the so far used
concept for assembling the command line from pieces was replaced with a
single template. for symmetry, adapt the makefile existence check to the
new concept as well.
QMAKE_CHK_EXISTS and QMAKE_MKDIR_CMD were added, with hard-coded
fallbacks (ugly).
QMAKE_CHK_FILE_EXISTS and QMAKE_CHK_EXISTS_GLUE (introduced in 5.0.0)
are simply deleted again.
QMAKE_CHK_DIR_EXISTS and QMAKE_MKDIR remain for legacy reasons, as qmake
emits them into the Makefiles, and custom commands may rely on their
presence.

Qt uses a lot of minor C++11 extensions such as long long, commas at the
end of enumerator lists, and extra ';' outside of a functions, and not all
of these can be silenced, so we build without warnings for C++11 extensions,
since we plan to enable C++11 at some point anyways.

For Mac OS X we currently specify build tools without an absolute path,
which means we end up using the ones in /usr/bin. This is wrong, we
should be using the tools from the toolchain of the chosen SDK.
For iOS we do specify an absolute path, by resolving the toolchain
path in the iOS makespecs.
To solve the situation on Mac OS X, we move the logic of resolving the
toolchain path to sdk.prf, and share it between OSX and iOS.
For configure we need to duplicate some of the logic from sdk.prf, as
configure pulls out QMAKE_CC and QMAKE_CXX for running some initial
tests and building qmake. The new macSDKify function also solves
the issue of missing sysroot and deployment version in the flags.

The former applies both on Mac OS X and iOS, but 'macx' is specific to
Mac OS X.
ios.conf and macx.conf now share most of their settings in the common
mac.conf. We set the default QMAKE_MAC_SDK before loading mac.conf, so
that any overrides in the device config will apply afterwards. This
means configure's mkspec parsing will be able to read the QMAKE_MAC_SDK.

The only difference between the two is that iOS append @executable_path/

This is a step towards making mac a shared scope for both Mac OS X and
iOS, while macx is Mac OS X specific and ios is iOS specific.
We'll then move iOS to not include macx.conf, once we make the change
to not have iOS imply macx.

If the command is quoted, it can contain anything but quotes (we do not
support escaped quotes, so single quotes have to be used). If the
command is unquoted we look for the first closing parenthesis. We used
to do this using .*?, but the greedy modifier '?' didn't seem to work,
so we now use an inverse character set.

We need to figure out where to draw the line when it comes to warning
about unknown compiler (Clang), Xcode, or SDK versions, but for now
building with Xcode 4.6 should not be an issue. We'll have to revisit
this and test with the full set of compiler/Xcode/SDKs we support
before the final release.

As long as Qt Creator does not provide any iOS integration, and the
app bundle we create using the Makefile generator is not good enough
to deploy to a device anyways, producing Xcode projects make the most
sense.
We base the decicion on whether or not the project depends
on QtGui and has app_bundles enabled. This prevents configure
tests and other tools from having Xcode projects, but allows
examples and demos to build out of the box.
Instead of setting the generator unconditionally we unset it in
default_pre so that we can detect if the user set it manually. This
means the user won't be able to inspect the MAKEFILE_GENERATOR variable
from the pro file, but this is less of a use-case then overriding the
generator from the command line or prooject file.

iphonesimulator SDK. xcodebuild -showsdks can be used to list the
available SDKs. Passing an SDK without a version postfix implies
the latest version of the SDK.

There was quite a bit of cruft left over from older Xcode version. We
now produce Xcode 3.2 compatible files, similar to what Xcode would do
when asked to upgrade one of our generated files. In particular:
- Removed refType
- Set more lastKnownFileTypes
- Renamed defaultConfigurationIsName to defaultConfigurationName
- Add runOnlyForDeploymentPostprocessing = 0 to build phases
- Don't put buildSettings directly into PBXNativeTarget
- Don't write productSettingsXML
- Don't write startupPath
- Don't write name when path is the exact same
- Write empty buildSetting lists as empty string
- Don't write empty PBXBuildFile settings

Allows us to dynamically generate the command line option for iOS later,
and allows the user to override QMAKE_MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET with the
expected effect on the command line options.
We unset PERL5LIB to ensure we get the system Perl libraries, since the
Mac OS 10.6 CI machine seems to have a broken XML::Parser::Expat from
macports/CPAN.

Building against the local /System can cause build issues when for example
the headers have not been updated to reflect the system version. The system
headers are updated as part of installing the command line tools from within
Xcode, not as part of the system update process, so we might think we are
on 10.8, but the system headers will not reflect that, and we get build
breaks. It's preferable to always build against an SDK, so that we have
a known state for the OS X libraries and headers.
We choose the latests SDK by default, as recommended by Apple.

Instead of setting -isysroot in both arch.test, compile.test, the various
mkspecs, and sdk.prf, we now propgate the chosen SDK as the qmake
variable QMAKE_MAC_SDK, which is then handled exclusivly in sdk.prf.
The QMAKE_MAC_SDK variable, and -sdk argument to configure, is expected
to be of the short-form name, eg macosx or iphoneos, not a full path, as
that's what Xcode also expects. We take care of translating that into
a full path for -isysroot/-syslibroot in sdk.prf, using xcodebuild as
a helper.

The include paths that the mkspecs set into the OpenGL/AGL frameworks
must take the SDK into account.
(The headers in 10.8 have slightly changed wrt 10.7, leading to compile
errors because framework style includes (<OpenGL/foo.h>) within the system
headers are resolved to the SDK framework headers.)

stack-protector-strong gives performance benefits over
stack-protector-all and is still checking more than -stack-protector,
so seems to be a good middle way and we want to use it when it is
there.
The -shared option for the compiler (not the linker) prevents a
RIM internal version of qcc from forcing -fPIE, and should not harm
in general when set.
In addition, add a method "compilerSupportsFlag" for Windows as is
present in the Unix configure script.

We do not need to include -lang-c++ more than once in QMAKE_LFLAGS*
variables. The fact that this was not appearing more than once was due
to QMAKE_LFLAGS being overwritten (rather than appended to) in
qcc-base-qnx.conf and a weird coincindence in qmake's code to dedupe
libraries passed in to QMAKE_LFLAGS. The deduping was working based
upon options beginning with "-l", including the -lang-c++ option here.

hard-coding it in unix.conf was no particularly good idea for hopefully
obvious reasons.
the windows version is so far just a stub that does what the makespecs
hard-coded - more doesn't seem worth the effort. the guys interested in
x-building may want to rectify it at some point, but it's not going to
be easy.

Making -lang-c++ integral part of the $CXX command was wrong, because there are
cases where $CXX must be called without the -lang-c++ file (when building asm
files for instance). This commit moves the -lang-c++ to $CXX_FLAGS where it

qtAddModule() skips adding standard library paths to LIBS. however, as
processPrlFiles() didn't know anything about that, it would not find the
prl files of qt libraries in these paths.
so centralize the definition of these default paths (we should actually
ask the linker for them) and use it in both places.
do the same for the include paths for symmetry.

Rationale:
QCC is a wrapper around GCC, but it doesn't understand -std,
so we need to pass it via -Wc.
The underlying GCC is v4.4, which doesn't know -std=c++11
yet, only c++0x.
We can't use -std=c++0x here, because the QNX headers
depend on some GNU extensions (nanosleep() was one that I
saw), so it has to be gnu++0x, ie. STD C++ + GNU extensions.

instead of making the "real" targets depend on the makefiles, add
conditional makefile generation to the targets themselves.
this causes makefile generation to follow the recursion order determined
by the project, which is important when dealing with prl and module pri
files.
a side effect of this is that qmake and make calls are interleaved now,
which is entirely different from a 'qmake -r' run.
on the downside, calling make with multiple targets which operate on the
same subprojects without prior makefile generation will make a mess, as
the qmake calls will be racing. this should be no problem, as qmake does
not generate recursive targets where this would be useful - at least by
default.
it is not sufficient to just order the creation of the makefiles
non-recursively (e.g., by using gnu-specific order-only-prerequisites),
as an interrupted and subsequently resumed build would happily skip the
nested makefiles.
workable alternative approaches would be walking the entire tree in a
pre-pass to ensure makefile presence (which is incredibly slow) or
creating additional stamp files only after recursing and having the
makefiles depend on them (which is ugly).

This allows us to have different flags for the compilers for
supporting the same feature. For example, the official flag in GCC to
support AVX2 is -mavx2, but ICC does not support it (yet), requiring
-march=core-avx2 or -xCORE-AVX2. That flag, instead, enables support
for all the features that the "Core-AVX2" processor (codename Haswell)
will support. And clearly, the MSVC flags are different.

Enabling support for C++11 adds CONFIG+=c++11 to the Qt build. Projects
using Qt can check for C++11 support using contains(QT_CONFIG, c++11) in
their .pr[iof] files.
The QMAKE_CXXFLAGS_CXX11 and QMAKE_LFLAGS_CXX11 qmake varibles contain
any arguments the compiler needs to enable C++11. CONFIG+=c++11 adds
these arguments to the build.
Support for clang, g++, and the Intel C++ Compiler for Linux are
included in this commit.

There is no session management currently implemented for the xcb QPA
backend. Update the build system to reflect this.

This significantly reduces the size of the generated code
in places where we don't need exceptions.
The -(no-)exceptions configure flag has been removed in the
process, as there is now a fine grained way to control this
on a per module level, and Qt is being compiled without
exceptions in most places.

Modern versions of Xcode properly support dwarf2, and as such dwarf2 is
always enabled. This change removes the ability to turn it off, making
dwarf2 non-optional.

Remove all [PPC|PPC64|X86|x86_64] CFLAGS, CXXFLAGS
and OBJECTIVE_CFLAGS. Delete the arch prf files.
32/64 bit arch selection will be made using a different
mechanism in Qt 5. Universal builds are not supported.

A recent change in platformsupport required "egl" to be defined,
otherwise the QNX plugin would fail at runtime with unresolved symbols.
Now the EGL config test passes.

The naming convention for these libraries says that libGLES_CM is to be
used when EGL is included while libGLESv1_CM should be used when EGL is
not included. Since we have a seperate variable for libEGL, it
makes sense to have this variable represent the non-EGL version of the
library.

There are two libraries from wayland, libwayland-client and
libwayland-server. Add two variables that will be picked up in the
QtWayland module.

It was causing issues when cross-compiling with a sysroot, as the paths
were not prefixed with the sysroot. The right include paths should be
taken care of by pkgconfig anyways.

Put in qconfig.h whether qt is compiled with reduced relocations.
When using -Bsymbolic-functions (enabled by default on Qt)
but not -fPIE, the comparison of the function pointers fail
because the addresses are different in Qt, and in the executable.
Hence we now enable -fPIE by default on qmake, and force a compilation
error when it is not enabled and built with reduced relocations.

When set in configure it would be written to .qmake.cache and would only
apply when building Qt. We then had an override (that was also out of
sync, version-wise) in the g++ mkspec, which would also apply to apps
building agains Qt. This override did howerver not apply when using
the Clang mkspec.
We now move setting macosx-version-min to the common macx mkspec, shared
by both g++ and Clang, which will apply both when building Qt and when
building something against Qt. The latter since an application built
against Qt will not deploy on versions of Mac OS earlier than 10.6
anyways, so we might as well always set the minimum-version.
The modifications to the mkspecs will result in macosx-version-min
being passed twice when compiling qmake, as configure writes its own
makefiles and the mkspec parsing in configure has a bug where it will
lazily evaluate qmake-variables instead of evaluating them inline. This
is not a problem, and can be fixed in a later patch if seen fit.

The QMAKE_COMPILER_DEFINES are used when running moc. In some cases, Qt
checks the __GNUC__ value to determine which version of GCC is being
used. In particular, the qtconcurrentfilter and qtconcurrentmap tests
fail to compile because moc ends up defining QT_NO_CONCURRENT_FILTER and
QT_NO_CONCURRENT_MAP since the condition __GNUC__ < 4 evaluates to true.
The Mac OS X development tools have not used gcc 3.x is a very long
time. The current version ships with llvm-gcc-4.2.1 and clang (which
also masquerades as gcc 4.2.1). Defining __GNUC__=4 makes sure that moc
preprocesses headers in the same way the compiler does.

To use the Symbian App Booster, a registration file (matching the
filename of the executable, eg helloworld.applite) must be copied to the
import folder within QtAppBooster's private directory. The appropriate
library (qdeclarativebooster) must also be linked against. With this
change, the required actions are carried out by adding
"CONFIG += symbian_appbooster" to the application's .pro file.
