acbf9a858b Cleanup QTypeInfo
Remove QTypeInfo::isStatic, as that's not used anymore in Qt 6.
Also remove sizeOf, it's unused, and we have QMetaType for that if
required.
Remove all typeinfo declaractions for trivial types, as the default
template covers them correctly nowadays.

Finally set up a better default for isPointer, and do some smaller
cleanups all over the place.

b77a3f47c9 Rename confusingly named QFont/QPalette::resolve overloads
Having three methods with the same name doing different things is
unnecessarily confusing, so follow the standard naming convention in
Qt and call the getter of the resolve mask resolveMask, and the setter
setResolveMask. These methods were all documented as internal.

The publicly documented resolve() method that merges two fonts and
palettes based on the respective masks remains as it is, even though
'merge' would perhaps be a better name.

38806273e5 Remove QEventPoint::event() in favor of device()
event()->device() was the most common use case anyway.

The idea that the "parent" of a QEventPoint is the QPointerEvent
interferes with the ability to copy and move event objects: the parent
pointers are dangling unless we use the QPointerEvent subclass
destructors to set the points' parents to null. Since there is no move
constructor, even returning a QEventPoint from a function by value
results in destroying the temporary instance and copying it to the
caller's space. So the parent pointer is often useless, unless we do
even more work to maintain it when the event moves.

If we optimize to avoid copying QEventPoints too much (and perhaps
enable exposing _mutable_ points to QML) by storing reusable instances in
QPointingDevice (which is the current plan), then the actual parent will
no longer be the event. Events are usually stack-allocated, thus
temporary and intended to be movable.

9d36032370 Implement QMetaType::canConvert() and use it in QVariant
Use the fact that we return the conversion function as a lambda
to find out reliably whether a conversion between two types
can be done.

This requires some minor adjustments to our tests:

* Nothing can convert to an unknown type and vice versa
* Adjust results to the fact that we don't convert from char
  to QString anymore (where the old method was incorrect)
* QStringList->QString requires some adjustments, as we only
  convert if the string list has exactly one element. For now
  we return true in canConvert(), but the conversion behavior
  in this case is something we should rethink, as it is very
  surprising.

ed8acbeb7c Automatically register data/debug stream operations in QMetaType
And remove the old manual registration code for those operators.

Add some special handling for long/ulong, as these types could be
streamed as a QVariant so far, but are not directly streamable
through QDataStream.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QMetaType] The QMetaType::registerStreamOperators()
and QMetaType::registerDebugStreamOperator() methods have been
removed. The streaming operators for a type are now automatically
registered together with the type registration. This implies that the
operators should be visible wherever the type is visible and being used.

[ChangeLog][Behavior Incompatible Changes] Because the QDataStream and
QDebug serialization operators are automatically registered with
QMetaType, the declarations of those functions must be present at any
point where the type is used with QMetaType and QVariant.

the narrow-contract functions in QStringTokenizer.

last(n) functions.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QLatin1String] size_type/size() is now qsizetype
(was: int). This makes QLatin1String(ptr, 0) ambiguous now between the
(ptr, ptr) and (ptr, qsizetype) constructors.

a41c61fb2d QIODevice: implement a "zero-copy" strategy for buffered writes
It works as follows:

  - user calls write(const QByteArray &);
  - this function keeps a pointer to the chunk and calls a regular
    write(data, len);
  - write(data, len) calls a virtual writeData();
  - subclass calls a new QIODevicePrivate::write();
  - QIODevicePrivate::write() makes a shallow copy of
    the byte array.

Proposed solution is fully compatible with existing subclasses.
By replacing a call to d->writeBuffer.append() with d->write(),
subclasses can improve their performance.

Bump the TypeInformationVersion field in qtHookData, to notify the
Qt Creator developers that the offset of QFilePrivate::fileName was

2ba1d540e6 QMultiMap: fix remove(Key, T) when key/value belong to the map
Just like any other container, it's legitimate for the user to
pass key/values belonging to the same container.
Q(Multi)Map::remove(Key) are already safe (either they call
erase() directly on std::(multi)map, where it does the right thing,
or they skip elements while detaching).
However, QMultiMap::remove(Key, T) wasn't safe in this regard
(the implementation is hand rolled), so take copies before start
erasing.

56f1208f9e Separate exception safety primitives from operations
Refactored certain bits of qarraydataops.h: picked exception-related
building blocks and put them into one place, (somewhat) documented
the usage, added tests

Personally, the existing code seemed rather complicated to analyze
(and do mental experiments for corner cases), especially when staring
at the whole thing for a while or "returning back" from some other work
and I still have my doubts that everything works correctly. Testing the
building blocks that are used should:
a) increase trust into existing code (provided the usage is correct)
b) give more use cases of how to use the building blocks, which in turn
   would allow to compare and contrast tests vs implementation

Extended existing tests with QArrayData's allocation options

Added extra tests on array operations covering append, insert,
emplace, erase and truncate. "Raw" QArrayDataPointer is used instead of
test-specific SimpleVector to check the behavior without some custom
logic in-between

The change targets future updates to array operations in the light of
prepend optimization: as the array operations would become more complex,
these tests should give a much better coverage (specifically due to
likely non-trivial implementation details and optimizations)

which is the primary case where QWidget::setScreen is interesting.
For the more common case of a virtual desktop, QWidget::setScreen

1df02b5f98 Fix conversions to JSON from QVariant
After reimplementing Qt JSON support on top of CBOR, there were
unintended behavior changes when converting QVariant{, List, Map} to
QJson{Value, Array, List} due to reusing the code for converting
QVariant* types to CBOR types, and from CBOR types to corresponding JSON
types. In particular, conversions from QVariant containing QByteArray to
JSON has been affected: according to RFC 7049, when converting from
CBOR to JSON, raw byte array data must be encoded in base64url when
converting to a JSON string. As a result QVariant* types containing
QByteArray data ended up base64url-encoded when converted to JSON,
instead of converting using QString::fromUtf8() as before.

There were also differences when converting QRegularExpression.

Reverted the behavior changes by adding a flag to internal methods for
converting CBOR to JSON, to distinguish whether the conversion is done
from QVariant* or CBOR types. These methods now will fall back to the old
behavior, if the conversion is done using QJson*::fromVariant*().

Additionally fixed QJsonValue::fromVariant conversion for NaN and
infinities: they should always convert to QJsonValue::Null. This works
correctly when converting from variant to QJsonArray/QJsonObject, but has
been wrong for QJsonValue.

Added more tests to verify the expected behavior.

[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] Restored pre-5.15.0 behavior
when converting from QVariant* to QJson* types. Unforeseen consequences
of changes in 5.15.0 caused QByteArray data to be base64url-encoded; the
handling of QRegularExpression was also unintentionally changed. These
conversions are now reverted to the prior behavior. Additionally fixed
QJsonValue::fromVariant conversions for NaN and infinities: they should
always convert to QJsonValue::Null.

048debe8f9 Restrict QVariant::isNull() behavior
isNull() would forward to the contained type and check that type's
isNull() method for some of the builtin types. Remove that behavior
and only return true in isNull(), if the variant is invalid, doesn't
contain data or contains a null pointer.

In addition, implement more consistent behavior when constructing
a QVariant using the internal API taking a copy from a void *.
isNull() should return true in both cases. This mainly changes behavior
for some corner cases and when using our internal API.

[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] QVariant::isNull()
no longer returns true when the variant contains an object of some
type with an isNull() method, that returns true for the object;
QVariant::isNull() now only returns true when the variant contains
no object or a null pointer.

4a69cd7f72 Restrict comparison of variants
Comparing two variants will not try to convert the types
of the variant anymore. Exceptions are when both types are
numeric types or one type is numeric and the other one a
QString. The exceptions are there to keep compatibility with
C++ and to not completely break QSettings (which needs automatic
conversions from QString to numeric types).

[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] Comparing two
variants in Qt 6 will not try attempt any type conversions before
comparing the variants anymore. Instead variants of different type
will not compare equal, with two exceptions: If both types are numeric
types they will get compared according to C++ type promotion rules. If
one type is a QString and the other type a numeric type, a conversion
from the string to the numeric tpye will be attempted.

92ee9bd6b8 CMake: Properly handle CONFIG += thread aka Threads::Threads
mkspecs/features/qt.prf adds a dependency on the system threading
library if the Qt Core thread feature is enabled. Because qt.prf is
loaded by any public or internal Qt project, it's essentially a public
dependency for any Qt consumer.

To mimic that in CMake, we check if the thread feature is enabled, and
and set the Threads::Threads library as a dependency of Qt6::Platform,
which is a public target used by all Qt modules and plugins and Qt
consumers.

We also need to create a Qt6Dependencies.cmake file so we
find_package(Threads) every time find_package(Qt6) is called.

For the .prl files to be usable, we have to filter out some
CMake implementation specific directory separator tokens
'CMAKE_DIRECTORY_ID_SEP' aka '::@', which are added because we call
target_link_libraries() with a target created in a different scope
(I think).

As a result of this change, we shouldn't have to hardcode
Threads::Threads in other projects, because it's now a global public
dependency.

14090760a8 Long Live QMap as a refcounted std::map!
... and QMultiMap as std::multimap.

Just use the implementation from the STL; we can't really claim that
our code is much better than STL's, or does things any differently
(de facto they're both red-black trees).

Decouple QMultiMap from QMap, by making it NOT inherit from
QMap any longer. This completes the deprecation started in 5.15:
QMap now does not store duplicated keys any more.

Something to establish is where to put the
QExplictlySharedDataPointer replcement that is in there as an
ad-hoc solution. There's a number of patches in-flight by Marc
that try to introduce the same (or very similar) functionality.

Miscellanea changes to the Q(Multi)Map code itself:

* consistently use size_type instead of int;
* pass iterators by value;
* drop QT_STRICT_ITERATORS;
* iterators implictly convert to const_iterators, and APIs
  take const_iterators;
* iterators are just bidirectional and not random access;
* added noexcept where it makes sense;
* "inline" dropped (churn);
* qMapLessThanKey dropped (undocumented, 0 hits in Qt, 1 hit in KDE);
* operator== on Q(Multi)Map requires operator== on the key type
  (we're checking for equality, not equivalence!).

Very few breakages occur in qtbase.

[ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] QMap does not
support multiple equivalent keys any more. Any related functionality
has been removed from QMap, following the deprecation that happened
in Qt 5.15. Use QMultiMap for this use case.

[ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] QMap and
QMultiMap iterators random-access API have been removed. Note that
the iterators have always been just bidirectional; moving
an iterator by N positions can still be achieved using std::next
or std::advance, at the same cost as before (O(N)).

[ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] QMultiMap does
not inherit from QMap any more. Amongst other things, this means
that iterators on a QMultiMap now belong to the QMultiMap class
(and not to the QMap class); new Java iterators have been added.

76068d0114 Make QFontDatabase member functions static
QFontDatabase is a singleton and all instances would share
a single, mutex-protected global data pointer. But some functions
were implemented as non-static functions. This caused a lot
of code on the form

	QFontDatabase().families(...)

since there was no static access. Other functions were implemented
as static.

To consolidate, we make all functions static. This should be
source-compatible, but not binary compatible.

[ChangeLog][QtGui][Fonts] Some functions in QFontDatabase were in
principle static, but previously not implemented as such. All
member functions have now been made static, so that constructing

00f2d1a09b Establish baseline for QIcon test on dpr > 1
After enabling Qt::AA_UseHighDpiPixmaps, QIcon::pixmap()
now returns pixmaps larger than the requested size on
devicePixelRatio > 1 screens.

Adapt tests to account for this changed behavior.
Skip tests where it’s unclear what the the expected
behavior is, or where the test logic does not apply
to dpr > 1.

This gives a clearer indication of where we are
(39 passed, 0 failed, 9 skipped), and enables using
the qicon test to catch regressions also when running
at dpr > 1.

Remove the "lowdpi" testcase flags from the qmake and
cmake project files.

It is unnecessary to create a QList container just for comparison.

Split out helpers for comparing sequence sizes and sequences from

One can then write something like:

const int expected[] = {10, 12,...};
QCOMPARE(QFontDatabase.pointSizes(...), expected)

Unfortunately, any commas in such an array will be misread by macro expansion
as macro argument separators, so any expected array with more than one entry
needs an extra macro expanding __VA_ARGS__.

0bf120f5fd Ensure styles always get to polish the application palette
Before 0a93db4d82 we would polish the
application palette even when it was the default palette, as we
always recreated the system palette each time a style was set.

After the change we skipped polishing the palette unless it was set
by the user, under the assumption that the style would set its
own default palette if it wanted to override the system palette.

This turned out to break the style's ability to slightly tweak the
palette via polish (versus the more full on standardPalette approach).

We now polish both the default palette and user palettes, and we do
so as part of the normal palette update logic. This ensures that
the style also gets a chance to polish the palette when the platform
theme changes.

The polish will not have an effect on the resolve mask of the palette,
as the polish is conceptually the same as a base palette, and should
not affect e.g. Qt::AA_SetPalette.

96e3ee0659 CMake: Get tests/auto/cmake tests working
The tests/auto/cmake project can be configured separately as a
standalone project with qt-cmake, or as part of the overall qtbase
standalone tests.

To do that a bunch of things were done
- Ported all Qt5 strings to Qt6
- Replaced in all projects the use of add_definitions and
  include_directories with a target based approach, except for 2 tests
  where we check that the old-style approach works, otherwise the
  tests would file
- Removed some (possibly unneeded) EGL / OpenGL tests
- Fixed some C++ code
- Added setup code to tests/auto/cmake/CMakeLists.txt to figure out
  which modules are available and should be tested
- Fixed Qt6CTestMacros.cmake to be loaded by Qt6Core
- Removed the CMake tests to not be run in qmake builds of Qt because
  they would fail anyway
- Enabled the CMake tests to be part of standalone tests
- Disabled auto-passing of the C and CXX compiler cache vars when
  cross-compiling so that the tests can somewhat pass on boot2qt.
  This is the issue we encountered in
  e2b2cd9397
- Ultimately disabled tests for boot2qt, because the -rpath-link
  flag is not generated by CMake for some reason.
- Added code to setup the environment when running an executable that
  was built as part of the test, so that the proper Qt libraries are
  found. This handles both the standalone tests case and separate
  project case.

The remaining unported tests are test_import_plugins which requires
quite a bit of work to get some modules and plugins built that were
done as part of the qmake .pro files, test_plugins that checks
some Network plugins which I'm not sure about, and
test_add_big_resource which doesn't work with namespaced builds
and there's no good way of detecting those at the moment either.

bb6a73260e Support digit-grouping correctly
Read three more values from CLDR and add a byte to the bit-fields at
the end of QLocaleData, indicating the three group sizes. This adds
three new parameters to various low-level formatting functions. At the
same time, rename ThousandsGroup to GroupDigits, more faithfully
expressing what this (internal) option means.

This replaces commit 27d1391280 with a
fuller implementation that handles digit-grouping in any of the ways
that CLDR supports. The formerly "Indian" formatting now also applies
to at least some locales for Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

Fixed Costa Rica currency formatting test that wrongly put a separator
after the first digit; the locale (in common with several Spanish
locales) requires at least two digits before the first separator.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][Important Behavior Changes] Some locales require
more than one digit before the first grouping separator; others use
group sizes other than three. The latter was partially supported (only
for India) at 5.15 but is now systematically supported; the former is
now also supported.

bbfecdee1e Significantly improve performance of binding evaluation
Avoid any QVariant or type dependent code in the cpp files.
Instead, let the binding wrapper determine if the value
has changed and return true/false accordingly.

This required also some reworking of the guard mechanism
for notified properties, where the guard function wrapper
now calls first the binding evaluation function and then
passes the result to the guard.

be1ce6b269 Separate the error case when evaluating bindings
There's no point in returning a usually empty error when
evaluating bindings, adding overhead to the regular code
path.

Instead, the error can be set on the currently evaluating
binding if required. This streamlines the functor used to
wrap the binding and should thus expand to less code and
execute faster in the regular case.

To achieve this, expose a pointer to the currently evaluating
binding in the private API (as QtQml needs it to be able to
report errors).

The error case now requires one additional TLS lookup, but
we don't really care about performance in that case anyway.

4e400369c0 Refactor pointer event hierarchy
Some goals that have hopefully been achieved are:
- make QPointerEvent and QEventPoint resemble their Qt Quick
  counterparts to such an extent that we can remove those wrappers
  and go back to delivering the original events in Qt Quick
- make QEventPoint much smaller than QTouchEvent::TouchPoint, with no pimpl
- remove most public setters
- reduce the usage of complex constructors that take many arguments
- don't repeat ourselves: move accessors and storage upwards
  rather than having redundant ones in subclasses
- standardize the set of accessors in QPointerEvent
- maintain source compatibility as much as possible: do not require
  modifying event-handling code in any QWidget subclass

To avoid public setters we now introduce a few QMutable* subclasses.
This is a bit like the Builder pattern except that it doesn't involve
constructing a separate disposable object: the main event type can be
cast to the mutable type at any time to enable modifications, iff the
code is linked with gui-private. Therefore event classes can have
less-"complete" constructors, because internal Qt code can use setters
the same way it could use the ones in QTouchEvent before; and the event
classes don't need many friends. Even some read-accessors can be kept
private unless we are sure we want to expose them.

16bc995fd1 Add type traits to safely determine the existence of comparison operators
Containers often define an operator==() or operator<() which is very useful
for generic code. But those operators can usually not be instantiated if
the template argument doesn't implement the operator.

This sometimes leads to the compiler trying all possible template expansions
and implicit conversions for the type, giving extremely long error
messages. The traits support can be used to safely constrain those
operators.

Being able to safely detect this will also allow us to fold the comparison
support that is currently a large cludge for user types directly into
QMetaType.

c7c28b3406 Separate QPD::tabletDevice into priv tabletDevice and queryTabletDevice
There doesn't seem to be any reason users will need to query tablet
devices by their IDs, because every event comes with a complete
instance already, and we have QInputDevice::devices() to list them all.

QPointingDevicePrivate::tabletDevice() can create a new instance if a
matching one is not found (and complains about that); it's intended
for use in QtGui, as a way to find the device if it was not part of the
QWSI event. Now it sets the parent of those auto-created instances
to QCoreApplication to avoid a memory leak.

On the other hand, queryTabletDevice() is intended for use in platform plugins
that need to check whether an instance exists; but they will take care
of creating new instances themselves, and thus have more control over the
parent and the details being stored. Now that the systemId can also be given,
the search is more likely to have a unique result, on window systems
that provide device IDs.

Rename id() to systemId() to clarify that it's a system-specific unique
device ID of some sort, not the same as the uniqueId that a stylus has.
However it seems that in practice, this will often be 0; so clarify that
if it's not unique, QInputDevicePrivate::fromId() and queryTabletDevice()
may not always find the right instance.

Clarify the function usage via comments.

057329c24c Make feature datetimeparser depend on feature datestring
No client of QDateTimeParser actually uses it unless datestring was
enabled, nor is it any use without datestring. Various methods
conditioned on datestring are broken unless datetimeparser is enabled.
We can't condition public API on datetimeparser, as it's a private
feature, but client code can condition use of it on the private
feature. All string-to-date/time conversions that use a string format
(this includes all locale-specific formats) depend on feature
datetimeparser.

Change #if-ery (or add it) in all client (including test) code to test
the right feature.

Tidied up some code in the process. Killed some already-redundant
textdate #if-ery. Renamed a test whose name claimed it involved
locale, which it doesn't, in the course of #if-ing it.

This simplifies the condition for feature datetimeedit (which overtly
depended on textdate, redundantly since it depends on datestring which
depends on textdate; its dependence on datetimeparser now makes its
dependency on datestring also redundant).

It also removes the need for assorted datestring checks in
QDateTimeParser itself.

6ff79478a4 Introduce platform API abstraction for QOpenGLContext
The API is available by including qopenglcontext.h as usual,
but scoped in the QPlatformInterface namespace. The namespace
exposes platform specific type-safe interfaces that provide:

 a) Factory functions for adopting native contexts, e.g.

    QCocoaGLContext::fromNative(nsContext, shareContext);

 b) Access to underlying native handles, e.g.

    openGLContext->platformInterface<QCocoaGLContext>->nativeContext()

 c) Platform specific functionality, e.g.

    static QWGLContext::openGLModuleHandle()

    openGLContext->platformInterface<QEGLContext>->doSomething();

The platform interfaces live close to the classes they extend,
removing the need for complex indirection and plumbing, and
avoids kitchen-sink modules and APIs such as the extras modules,
QPlatformFunctions, or QPlatformNativeInterface.

In the case of QOpenGLContext these platform APIs are backed
by the platform plugin, so dynamic_cast is used to ensure the
platform plugin supports the requested interface, but this is
and implementation detail. The interface APIs are agnostic
to where the implementation lives, while still being available
to the user as part of the APIs they extend/augment.

The documentation will be restored when the dust settles.

ab6861b01f Fix delivery of MouseMove events to newly opened popup windows
Amend d934fd7f54, which was too naive in
assuming that any change to the popup stack while a popup had been
pressed into should result in mouse move events to be delivered without
buttons.

Instead, add a new flag that is set explicitly when the qt_popup_down
widget is closed, and remove buttons from the move move events only when
that flag is set.

Add the sorely missing test case as well, even if we have to accept that
not all behavior can be tested reliably. Ie. on macOS, the simulated
mouse event differs from the event we do get from the QPA plugin or the
system; on Xcb, some of the behavior depends on the window manager.
This is something we could try to clean up for Qt 6.

980795dc55 Let QScreen::grabWindow's winId parameter default to 0 and add test
The platform plugins are implemented to grab the entire screen if
no window ID is provided. They do not grab the entire virtual
screen, just the screen the method is called on.

On macOS, the implementation ignored the window parameter, and
always grabbed the entire virtual screen. This change fixes the
cocoa implementation. The test passes in local tests (with two
displays with different dpr). Since grabbing a screen returns an
image with managed colors, we need to convert it to sRGB color
spec first, otherwise displaying a grabbed image will produce
different results. This will need to be changed once Qt supports
a fully color managed flow.

The test does not cover the case where a window spans multiple
displays, since this is generally not supported at least on macOS.
The code that exists in QCocoaScreen to handle that case is
untested, but with the exception of the optimization it is also
unchanged.

af61b5ca5c CMake: Fix tst_qmake::resources() on Windows
This test calls qmake on a project that generates a .qrc file. On
Windows, where debug_and_release is on by default, the generated qrc
file ends up in a "debug" or "release" subdirectory. On other
platforms the file is generated directly in the build dir.

To guess the right location, the preprocessor defines RELEASE_BUILD
and DEBUG_BUILD were passed to tst_qmake.cpp by the test's .pro file.
While the mapping from debug_and_release was fine for the .pro file,
it was commented out in the automatically converted CMakeLists.txt.

Instead of trying to fix the condition, we're going the easier route
that's used in all other .pro files of tst_qmake: make sure that
debug_and_release doesn't get in the way. In other tests this is done
by setting
    DESTDIR = ./
which doesn't work for the generated qrc file. That's why we simply do
    CONFIG -= debug_and_release
to make sure that everything is generated directly in the build dir.

The macro itself is left in for the moment being, as well as its

Note that this is a mere search/replace; some places were using
double braces to work around the presence of commas in a macro, no
attempt has been done to fix those.

tst_qglobal had just some minor changes to keep testing the macro.

28ef8d283d Add QPointingDevice argument to every QWSI input event handler function
We want every QInputEvent to carry a valid device pointer. It may be
some time until all QPA plugins are sending it, but it's necessary to
provide the functions for them to start doing that.

We now try to maintain the same order of arguments to all the functions.
handleTouchEvent(window, timestamp, device, the rest) was already there
(except "device" has changed type now), and is used in a lot of platform
plugins; so it seems easiest to let that set the precedent, and modify
the rest to match. We do that by adding new functions; we can deprecate
the older functions after it becomes clear that the new ones work well.

However the handleGestureEvent functions have only ever been used in
the cocoa plugin, so it's easy to change their argument order right now.

Modify tst_qwindow::tabletEvents() to test new tablet event API.

6589f2ed0c Introduce QInputDevice hierarchy; replace QTouchDevice
We have seen during the Qt 5 series that QMouseEvent::source() does
not provide enough information: if it is synthesized, it could have
come from any device for which mouse events are synthesized, not only
from a touchscreen. By providing in every QInputEvent as complete
information about the actual source device as possible, we will enable
very fine-tuned behavior in the object that handles each event.

Further, we would like to support multiple keyboards, pointing devices,
and named groups of devices that are known as "seats" in Wayland.

In Qt 5, QPA plugins registered each touchscreen as it was discovered.
Now we extend this pattern to all input devices. This new requirement
can be implemented gradually; for now, if a QTWSI input event is
received wtihout a device pointer, a default "core" device will be
created on-the-fly, and a warning emitted.

In Qt 5, QTouchEvent::TouchPoint::id() was forced to be unique even when
multiple devices were in use simultaneously. Now that each event
identifies the device it came from, this hack is no longer needed.

A stub of the new QPointerEvent is added; it will be developed further
in subsequent patches.

[ChangeLog][QtGui][QInputEvent] Every QInputEvent now carries a pointer
to an instance of QInputDevice, or the subclass QPointingDevice in case
of mouse, touch and tablet events. Each platform plugin is expected to
create the device instances, register them, and provide valid pointers
with all input events. If this is not done, warnings are emitted and
default devices are created as necessary. When the device has accurate
information, it provides the opportunity to fine-tune behavior depending
on device type and capabilities: for example if a QMouseEvent is
synthesized from a touchscreen, the recipient can see which touchscreen
it came from. Each device also has a seatName to distinguish users on
multi-user windowing systems. Touchpoint IDs are no longer unique on
their own, but the combination of ID and device is.

8e98a161e9 Long live std::pair!
Make QPair an alias for std::pair, and qMakePair just a forwarder
towards std::make_pair.

Why? Fundamentally to ditch a bunch of NIH code; gain for free
structured bindings, std::tuple and std::reference_wrapper
compatibility, and so on.

Breakages:

* Some that code manually forward declares QPair.
We don't care about it (<QContainerFwd> is the proper way).

* Some code that overloads on std::pair and QPair. Luckily
it's mostly centralized: debug, metatypes, testing macros.
Just remove the QPair overload.

* Usages of qMakePair forcing the template type parameters.
There are a handful of these in qtbase, but only one was actually
broken.

* std::pair is NOT (and will never likely be) trivially copiable.
This is agreed to be a mistake done by practically all implementations
in C++11, can can't be fixed without breaking ABI.
Some code using QPair assuming it's trivially copiable may break;
exactly one occurrence was in qtbase.

* QMetaType logic extracts the type names in two different ways,
one by looking at the source code string (e.g. extracted by moc)
and one via some ad-hoc reflection in C++. We need to make
"QPair" (as spelled in the source code) be the same as "std::pair"
(gathered via reflection, which will see through the alias)
when compared. The way it's already done e.g. for QList is
by actually replacing the moc-extracted name with the name
of the actual type used in C++; do the same here.
On libc++, std::pair is actually in an inline namespace --
i.e. std::__1::pair; the reflection will extract and store
"std::__1::pair" so we need an ad-hoc fix to QMetaType.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QPair] QPair is now an alias to std::pair,
and does not exist as a class in Qt any more. This may break
code such as functions overloaded for both QPair and std::pair.
Usually, the overload taking a QPair can be safely discarded,
leaving only the one taking a std::pair. QPair API has not changed,
and qMakePair is still available for compatibility (although
new code is encouraged to use std::pair and std::make_pair
directly instead).

Relax the behavior for QStringView and do bounds checking on pos/n

44fb925f50 Phase 2 of removing QDesktopWidget
Remove QDestopWidget public header, simplify the implementation that
maintains a Qt::Desktop type QWidget for each QScreen, and turn
QWidget's initial target screen into a QScreen pointer.

QApplication::desktop() now takes an optional QScreen pointer, and
returns a QWidget pointer, so that applications and widgets can get
access to the root widget for a specific screen without having to
resort to private APIs.

QDesktopWidgetPrivate implementations to look up a screen for an index,
widget, or point are now all inline functions that thinly wrap
QGuiApplication::screens/screenAt calls. We should consider adding those
as convenience APIs to QScreen instead.

Note that QWidget::screen is assumed to return a valid pointer; there is
code that handles the case that it returns nullptr (but also code that
trusts that it never is nullptr), so this needs to be defined, verified
with tests, and asserted. We can then simplify the code further.

The default font on Windows 10 (Segoe UI) will return the

3279c8e7d7 Move some flaky text tests into Lancelot
There are some slight differences between normal drawText()
and QGlyphRuns/QStaticText for decoration widths in certain
fonts. We decided to accept this and tried working around it
in the test by using ForceIntegerMetrics (since the difference
is < 0.5 pixel). This enum has been deprecated, so we move
the tests into Lancelot instead, since the idea here is to
test for regressions, not to compare the two painter commands.

Note that there is something off about decorations with
drawGlyphRuns() and drawStaticText() which is exposed
(not caused) by this, perhaps related to using a matrix
for positioning, since that was untested before.

This also takes the liberty of moving the emoji test string
from text.qps, since this was not in the statictext.qps yet.

6a3c6f939f Long live QStringTokenizer!
This class is designed as C++20-style generator / lazy sequence, and
the new return value of QString{,View}::tokenize().

It thus is more similar to a hand-coded loop around indexOf() than
QString::split(), which returns a container (the filling of which
allocates memory).

The template arguments of QStringTokenizer intricately depend on the
arguments with which it is constructed, so QStringTokenizer cannot be used
directly without C++17 CTAD. To work around this issue, add a factory
function, qTokenize().

LATER:
- ~Optimize QLatin1String needles (avoid repeated L1->UTF16 conversion)~
  (out of scope for QStringTokenizer, should be solved in the respective
  indexOf())
- Keep per-instantiation state:
  * Boyer-Moore table

fa987d4441 MetaObject: Store the QMetaType of the methods
This does the analog of 46f407126e for the
methods we care about (signals, slots, Q_INVOKABLEs). In addition to the
actual QMetaType, we store an array with offsets so that we later can do
a mapping from methodIndex to metatype.

The newly added QMetaMethod::{return,parameter}MetaType methods can then
be used to retrieve the metatypes.

This does however require that all involved types are complete. This is
unfortunately not a feasible requirement. Thus, we only populate the
metatype array on a best effort basis. For any incomplete type, we store
QMetaType::Unknown. Then, when accessing the metatype, we fall back to
the old string based code base if it's Unknown.

Squashes "moc: support incomplete types" and "Fix compile failures

529f052add Port QRegularExpression to QStringView, drop QStringRef
The idea is pretty simple -- add QRegularExpression matching over
QStringView. When matching over a QString, keep the string
alive (by taking a copy), and set the view onto that string.
Otherwise, just use the view provided by the user (who is then
responsible for ensuring the data stays valid while matching).

Do just minor refactorings to support this use case in a cleaner
fashion.

In QRegularExpressionMatch drop the QStringRef-returning methods, as
they cannot work any more -- in the general case there won't be a

Because setting QFutureInterface to paused state does not mean that
the computations that are already in progress will stop immediately,
it may be useful to get notified when pause actually takes effect.

Introduced the QFutureWatcher::suspended() signal, to be emitted when
there are no more computations in progress, and no more result ready
or progress reporting signals will be emitted, i.e. when pause took
effect. Added {QFuture, QFutureWatcher}::isSuspended() methods for
checking if pause took effect.

QtConcurrent will now to send QFutureCallOutEvent::Suspended event
when the state is paused and there are no more active threads.

[ChangeLog][QtCore][QFutureWatcher] Added a new QFutureWatcher::suspended()
signal, to be emitted when pause took effect, meaning that there are no
more computations in progress. Added {QFuture, QFutureWatcher}::isSuspended()
methods for checking if pause took effect.

948511a143 Turn badly-named test into two data rows of another test
Since ancient times, tst_QDateTime::fromString_LOCALE_ILDATE() has
claimed to be Windows-only, although there is nothing MS-specific
about it; its name also purports to implicate locale, which it
doesn't. Turn it into two data rows for the more general
fromStringDateFormat() test, with no extra #if-ery about it.

To avoid random failure when testing this, we detect the case and

36f6922925 Implement support for QProperty<T> with a static observer
A common pattern in Qt Quick will be QProperty members that are
connected to a callback that needs to perform something when the value
changes, for example emitting a compatibility signal or marking scene
graph node data dirty.

To make such a pattern more efficient, a new QNotifiedProperty type is
introduced that offers the same API as QProperty<T>, with two changes:

    (1) The template instantiation not only takes the property type as
    parameter but also a callback pointer-to-member.

    (2) Since that member itself cannot be called without an instance
    and to avoid storing an instance pointer permanently, the API for
    setBinding and setValue are adjusted to also take the instance
    pointer. For the former it gets stored in the binding, for the
    latter it is used to invoke the callback after setting the new
    value.

449b347644 Rework QLocale and QDateTime tests that expect CET abbreviation
The name CET is locale-dependent; but QLocale doesn't know about
localization of time zone names. Such abbreviated zone names are, in
any case, potentially ambiguous - various zones around the world have
collisions - so they can't be relied on.

QTimeZone's various backends have differing handlings of how to
abbreviate zone names (MS's provides no abbreviated names at all); and
it appears macOS actually follows the relevant localizations.

So it is hopeless to hard-code the expected zone abbreviations.
Changed the tests to consult QTimeZone for the abbreviation and
compare what it gets with the results of checks which should match
this. This is less stringent, but it is at least robustly correct,
thereby getting rid of assorted kludges and #if-ery.

ee92ee7a3c Remove deprecated QProcess methods
Add default parameter for arguments in start, startDetached, and
execute for better source compatibility with Qt 5.15. This has the risk
of then hiding incorrect calls to the previous overload taking a single
"command" strings if code is ported from pre-5.15 or ignores deprecation
warnings. This is acceptable, given that the alternative is that all
calls to these functions would require a default constructed QStringList
as the second parameter.

d7d6a1fe32 Don't queue events in QFutureWatcher when pause is requested
When QFutureWatcher (or QFutureInterface) is paused, it doesn't
mean that it will take effect immediately: the pending tasks may
still be in progress and keep reporting results. At the moment
QFutureWatcher will queue those events and report only with the
next resume. This behavior is wrong, QFutureWatcher should not
decide when to report events, the sender should decide when is the
right time. There's no benefit in reporting already happened events
with delay. Because of this, even the pause event itself was being
reported after resume.

Fixed the behavior by removing the logic of queueing events when
the state is set to "paused". It seems unlikely that the users of
QFutureWatcher rely on reporting events with delay.

[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes][QtCore] QFutureWatcher will not
immediately stop delivering progress and result ready signals when the
future is paused. At the moment of pausing there may be still computations
that are in progress and cannot be stopped. Signals for such computations
will be still delivered after pause, instead of being postponed and
reported only after next resume.
