HasIsNullMethod uses the accepted C++98 idiom to
check for members that might be inherited from
baseclasses.
The technique, however, requires inheriting from
the type-under-test, which fails for C++11 final
classes.
Fortunately, under C++11 we have much better
support for static type introspection: sfinae
for expressions. We use this here (see decltype()
use in qvariant_p.h) to write a C++11 version of
HasIsNullMethod that works with final classes, too.
However, since this technique required decltype()
support in the compiler, Q_DECL_FINAL can no longer
be used for both method and class markup. So we
declare a new Q_DECL_FINAL_CLASS which is only
set iff the compiler supports decltype(), too.
MSVC 2005 and 2008 support a non-standard, but
sufficiently compatible, version of override/final,
but no decltype(). A later patch will use MSVC
'override/'sealed' to implement Q_DECL_{OVERRIDE,FINAL}
for these compilers, but I currently don't see a
version of HasIsNullMethod that could support these
two, so the split off of Q_DECL_FINAL_CLASS is in
anticipation of that commit. If someone _does_ find
an implementation of HasIsNullMethod that works on
MSVC2005 and 2008 sealed classes, then it's a simple
matter of s/Q_DECL_FINAL_CLASS/Q_DECL_FINAL/g.
This code has been tested on GCC 4.7 (prerelease)
and GCC 4.8 (prerelease).

Do not write Q_BYTE_ORDER to qconfig.h in the configures. Instead,
we #define Q_BYTE_ORDER in qprocessordetection.h, since many CPUs only
support a single endian format. For bi-endian processors, we set
Q_BYTE_ORDER depending on how the preprocessor sets __BYTE_ORDER__,
__BIG_ENDIAN__, or __LITTLE_ENDIAN__ (instead of using a compile test
to do so).
For operating systems that only support a single byte order, we can
check for Q_OS_* in addition to the preprocessor macros above. This is
possible because qprocessordetection.h is included by qglobal.h after
Q_OS_* and Q_CC_* detection has been done. Do this for Windows CE,
which is always little- endian according to MSDN.

imo the versioning is a contestant for the most useless feature ever:
- (linux) distributors couldn't care less - they simply configure qtcore
correctly. additionally, the packaging policies state that no config
files should live in the binary dir at all, so no qt.conf for them.
- ISVs don't care, because they ship their software with a particular qt
version anyway.
- SDK distributors don't care, because it doesn't solve any real problem
for them: a) they will isolate the (qmake) versions and b) a
distinction based on version number (as opposed to build
configuration) is utterly useless in the first place.
i left in the variable expansion, as it could at least theoretically be
useful for creating relocatable packages. debatable - the file it easy
enough to modify at installation time.

desktop, and if you try to handle both, you end up getting duplicate
events on touch devices.
Instead, we should get rid of the code in the plugins that automatically
sends mouse events translated from touch events. This change enables
that by making the behaviour fully configurable in QtGui.
Two new application attributes are added to explicitly say whether
unhandled touch events should be sent as synthesized mouse events and
vice versa, and no duplicates are automatically sent as the current
situation. Synthesized mouse events are enabled by default.
We also get rid of the QTouchEvent::TouchPoint::Primary flag, which
was only used to signal that the windowing system automatically
generated mouse events for that touch point. Now we only generate mouse
events from the first touch point in the list.

Note that the Windows timer implementation does not attempt to align

The value is now stored in the recently introduced flags member of the

The structure used by QWindowSystemInterface::handleTouchEvent also

This also removes QLibraryInfo::buildKey(), which is a source-incompatible

The definition is just wrong these days. Modern ARMv7 and MIPS have
FPUs. Maybe AVR32, SH or SH4A don't, but then QT_NO_FPU should be
defined in the qplatformdefs.h for those platforms.
More importantly, since QPA is the only supported architecture for Qt
5, we definitely don't want to say that no platforms have no FPU.
Still let qreal be defined to float on ARM, though: on Cortex-A8,
which is the current norm these days, float performance is better than
double performance.

The distinction between 'examples' and 'demos' is completely blurred at
this point. We've decided, with the SDK people, to scrap the existing
terminology in favor of the word 'example' only -- distinguishing
between code snippets, walkthroughs, "demonstrations" can be done
via keywords or some other method.
Removing QT_INSTALL_DEMOS from all .pro files in Qt is still in
progress.

Global changes:
qglobal.h: remove code that sets Q_WS_MAC and
Q_MAC_USE_COCOA - this is dead code now. Add
qt_widget_helpers_mac_p.h/mm which will contain
helper functions needed for widgets on Qt 5.
Menu-related changes:
Set AA_DontUseNativeMenuBar before creating the
platform plugin. Change Q_WS_MAC to Q_OS_MAC in the
menu code. Remove Q_MAC_USE_COCOA defines and Carbon
code paths. Move some qt_mac helper functions only
used by the menu system to qmenu_mac.mm. #ifdef out
some code paths that require further porting.
Native menus are now disabled by default but can
be enabled by the QPA plugins that want them by
clearing AA_DontUseNativeMenuBar. Since we at compile
time don't know which plugin will be loaded the Mac
menu code is always included when building on OS X.
(The above is currently only relevant for the Cocoa
plugin.)
QInputMethodQueryEvent will replace the old
inputMethodHints() and inputMethodQuery() APIs
in QWidget. It has the advantage that it works
nicely with any kind of QObject.
The previous patch tried to work around the fact that Qt::SubWindow
accidentally pulled in Qt::Window. This patch corrects the root
cause of the problem.
std::initializer_list exists, but it is not possible to do bracket

We cannot use QTextCursor::MoveStyle enums in QTextLine because
QTextCursor is not a QObject, while referring to that enum in
Q_PROPERTY requires it to be. That's why we need to move the
enums in Qt namespace.

Moved the logic to set pixel size into the font engines to avoid
making the platform plugin interface too complex, and added a function
in QPA to make an isolated font engine based on font data. Currently
none of the QPA back-ends supports it, but it compiles and spits out
a warning if you try to create a QRawFont from data there. This isn't
used in QtQuick2 anyway.
