99636127d1 Fix prefix_build check for top-level builds
The checks whether we have a Qt prefix build were broken for
top-level builds. Non-prefix top-level builds were incorrectly
detected as prefix builds.

For top-level non-prefix builds QT_HOST_DATA/QT_INSTALL_PREFIX becomes
something like "~/my/build/dir/qtbase" but .qmake.cache (and
.qmake.super) is/are created in "~/my/build/dir".

This patch extends the prefix_build check by probing for the existence
of .qmake.super, which only exists for top-level builds. Also, we add
qt_prefix_build_check.prf as central place for determining whether we
have a prefix build to make sure that qt_configure.prf and
qt_build_config.prf use the same logic.

01d2f35b69 qmake: Add support for running lrelease
CONFIG+=lrelease enables that all .ts files in
TRANSLATIONS or EXTRA_TRANSLATIONS are compiled by
lrelease.

EXTRA_TRANSLATIONS is a new variable that is only
processed by lrelease, but not lupdate - this
is useful for translation files that are supposed to
be empty, because they match the language of the
original translation sources.

If embed_translations is also set, the generated .qm
files will be made available through the Qt resource
system under :/i18n/. Alternatively, the user can
specify an installation target by setting
QM_FILES_INSTALL_PATH.

Note that relative paths in TRANSLATIONS are not taken
into account. That is,

  TRANSLATIONS = component1/de.ts component2/de.ts

will cause a conflict.

[ChangeLog][qmake] New CONFIG options lrelease and
embed_translations were added. CONFIG+=lrelease does
run lrelease on translation files listed in TRANSLATIONS
and EXTRA_TRANSLATIONS. CONFIG+=embed_translations does
include the generated .qm files as resources under
:/i18n/.

015b53e9b4 Turn on -utf-8 compiler option for msvc2015 update 2 and up
Building qt with msvc would fail with the -developer-build configure

This is because msvc will emit warnings for source files with utf-8

This patch turn on -utf-8 compiler option for msvc2015 update 2

f91bbd2438 make handling of qml module search path saner
excise knowledge of QTREPOS from qt.prf - this is a private variable of
the qt build system which the public functions should not know anything
about.

instead, move this handling to a function in qt_build_config.prf (where
QTREPOS comes from in the first place), and call it from qt_app.prf and
qt_example_installs.prf (which should be the only consumers within qt).

qt.prf now also checks that the qml install dir actually exists, which
is not the case during a modular prefix build of qtdeclarative.

not really incidentally, this fixes modular static builds of
qtdeclarative.

60e5a1c8ef Modularize the new configure system (infrastructure part)
This change implements the required infrastructure to modularize the new
configuration system.

This requires a hierarchy of configuration files, both for handling
multiple repositories and for individual modules inside the same
repository.

When configuring, they all need to get loaded first, as command line
processing needs to know about all possible command line options.

When the command line has been processed, the individual configuration
files need to get processed one after the other and independently from
each other.

Configure is now automatically invoked when building the a project
tree's "root" project; this works with both modular and top-level builds
of Qt (the latter with an according change in the super repo). As an
immediate consequence, the -skip option moves to the super repo with a
different implementation, as configuration is now done after the repo
list is determined. The option belongs there anyway.

This commit also adds an optional testDir entry to the json file. Like
this, we can still have all configure tests in qtbase/config.tests and
the configuration file in, e.g., corelib can reference those.

The files section can now be left out as long as a 'module' entry is
present, specifying the module name. The names of the files to generate
can then be deduced from that name. We still need to be able to specify
names directly for the global configuration files.

qtConfig() now also queries features which are module-specific. As it is
sometimes necessary to query the configuration of modules which should
not be actually linked (and cannot in the case of subdirs projects), the
new variable QT_FOR_CONFIG which allows specifying configuration-only
dependencies is introduced.

d76a756b03 clean up qconfig/qmodule.pri handling in configure
instead of saving the files away and restoring them afterwards, use the
new and shiny discard_from() function to throw away everything the files
might contain.

strictly speaking, this is not precise, as the pris may also use *=, -=,
and possibly other operations which cannot be trivially undone, but the
purpose is essentially to discard the special outputs of some features
which may affect subsequent tests, for which this is sufficient.

as a side effect, the failure to load qmodule.pri is not fatal any more
(like for qconfig.pri), to save the pointless effort of ensuring that it
exists.

03e9c6f4a6 Add support for Apple tvOS
Pass -xplatform macx-tvos-clang to configure to build.
Builds device and simulator by default.

Added ‘uikit’ platform with the common setup.
Also added QT_PLATFORM_UIKIT define (undocumented).
qmake config defines tvos (but not ios).

tvOS is 64bits only (QT_ARCH is arm64) and requires bitcode to be
embedded in the binary. A new ‘bitcode’ configuration was added.
For ReleaseDevice builds (which get archived and push to the store),
bitcode is actually embedded (-fembed-bitcode passed to clang). For all
other configurations, only using bitcode markers to keep file size
down (-fembed-bitcode-marker).

Build disables Widgets in qtbase, and qtscript (unsupported,
would require fixes to JavaScriptCore source code).

Qpa same as on iOS but disables device orientation, status bar, clipboard,
menus, dialogs which are not supported on tvOS.

523c7e3fd5 build with explicitlib after all
unlike speculated in 2fe363514, this is not a workaround at all: it
causes that libraries' public link interfaces (LIBS) are exported in the
first place. unlike with staticlib, this does not export LIBS_PRIVATE,
so it wouldn't even be a particularly effective workaround for rpath
brokenness anyway.

the problem was pretty well hidden by the qt module system, which at the
level of libraries is pretty redundant with the .prl file handling,
which shows just how stupid the whole "design" is.

unlike before, we now enable explicitlib for all libraries, not just qt
modules - we enable create_prl for all of them as well, after all.

an immediate effect of this change is that it fixes linking on RaspPI:
the qtcore headers make the user code require linking libatomic, so we
must add it to our public link interface.

d8cfa6a144 disable install targets for non-prefix builds
one reason to do that is some users' persistence in destroying their

another reason is the fact that qt.pro's relative_qt_rpath is triggered
by the presence of an install rule for the target, which is of course
not helpful when the install dir is bogus.

This also sets QMAKE_SONAME_PREFIX to @rpath for Qt modules when built
with rpath configuration.

This makes Qt libraries relocatable on OS X. Qt SDK is not yet
relocatable though, because plugin locations (including cocoa plugin)
are still resolved using absolute path (see QTBUG-14150). Also, there
are several absolute paths hardcoded in qmake mkspecs pri files.

c760d2dbfd Rewrite qmake's exclusive-build feature
We used to compute the default exclusive build directory, eg 'debug', at
configure time, and then set OBJECTS_DIR, MOC_DIR, etc to include this
hard-coded default exclusive build directory. We then had to run a post-
process step where we replaced the 'debug' part with the current actual
exclusive build pass, eg 'release', resulting in long-standing bugs such
as QTBUG-491 where we end up replacing parts of the build output dirs
that were not part of the original exclusive build directory.

We now set the OBJECTS_DIR, MOC_DIR, etc defaults in configure like
before, but they do not include any exclusive-build information. The
exclusive build directory is handled as a separate step in default_post
where we adjust all entries in QMAKE_DIR_REPLACE to be exclusive
directories.

For backwards compatibility the new exclusive build behavior is only
enabled for variables named by QMAKE_DIR_REPLACE_SANE, which for Qt
itself applies globally to everything but DESTDIR, and for libs and
tools also applies to DESTDIR. The reason for leaving out DESTDIR in
the general case is because many tests and examples assume the old
behavior for DESTDIR. A side effect of including all the other
variables for Qt libs and tools is that the PCH output dir will be
uniformly set, which has been an issue on Windows in the past.

The addExclusiveBuilds function now takes two or more arguments,
each argument being the key for an exclusive build, which can be
customized eg. using $$key.{name,target,dir_affix}. Passing more
than two arguments results in three/four/etc-way exclusive builds,
eg debug/release/profile. Exclusive builds can also be combined, eg
static/shared + debug/release by making two calls to the function.

We also handle individual targets of combined exclusive builds,
eg static/shared + debug/release, meaning it is possible to run
'make debug' to build both static-debug and shared-debug.

rely on it. it doesn't add too much overhead when not used, so enable it

instead of letting *every* qmake-based project have recursive check target,
let interested projects "subscribe" to it by adding CONFIG+=testcase_targets
in a central place (.qmake.conf, which Qt itself does via qt_build_config.prf).

aeb036ed87 centralize and fixup example sources install targets
it's confusing for the users if the examples' project files contain code
to install their own sources. also, this constitutes an enormous code
duplication, and lots of mistakes. consequently, automate it.

more or less as a side effect, this also removes the entirely meaningless
target installs in subdirs projects.

a side effect is that every qt module now needs to have a .qmake.conf
(unless it sets MODULE_QMAKE_OUTDIR, like webkit does).

6226fcdc3e add a .qmake.conf file which load()s qt_build_config
that way we don't have to auto-generate code for that in the configures.

note that we now load qt_build_config.prf instead of just qmodule.pri,
which means that exceptions_off is set everywhere. we forcibly re-enable
them for testcases to minimize the deviation from default 3rd party usage.
testlib selftests are not qt testcases, so the one that needs exceptions
needs to enable them explicitly.

88a2efaddc Move the QT_COMPILER_SUPPORTS_xxx defines to qconfig.h
This reduces dramatically the command-line for compiling Qt sources.

These are private macros, only to be used by Qt's own modules, so the
compiler setting is either the same or, possibly, better. In other
words, in the worst case, when compiling a module with a better
compiler than for qtbase, such module might not enable all the
functionality it could otherwise do.

If we switch to a buildsystem that can support this properly in the
future, these macros should be removed.
