c62d7f20bb ICU-1220 uconv now supports setting callbacks in both directions; see 
the manual page, or call uconv -h to have a list (though the manual
page also has explanations for the different callbacks).

42b2966822 ICU-1596 treat the ICU data library as any other regular library, 
giving it a proper name and versioning scheme, and using rpath as needed too.

039dbe8ff1 ICU-678 Lintian is now pretty happy with all the packages, except 
for the silly-named libicudt20.so and the fact that 5 tools still have
no manual pages.

4ce7bf0b34 ICU-678 Remove libicuctestfw from distribution. 
Get rid of th removal of gentest because ICU does not install it anymore.
Add an undocumented program, gennorm.
Move usr/bin into the icu package (that is where uconv is).
Update doc-base.
Changed packages sections.
Moved more packages in the binary-indep rule.
Need sleep.

ea6190d5dd ICU-678 more changes for 2.0. 
Picks the libicudt lib in the right package (despite its bad name).
Added an icu-doc package now that I have a make install that does
install the documentation.
Changed some categories and made some descriptions clearer, to
retrofit changes made in the 1.8.1-2 update done today.

1e9d644cb5 ICU-678 packaging now works around the fact that make distclean 
leaves a lot of trash in test/testdata, and does not generate control
from control.in but rather changes it in place so that one can use
dpkg-buildpackage without having to do make -f debian/rules to get
a control file first.

7f339fb7c6 ICU-678 worked around a problem in dh_shlibdeps; put /usr/lib/icu in 
libicu?? instead of changing the postinst (sloppy maybe); changelog got
updated since U_ICU_VERSION has been changed.

9bebb22d73 ICU-678 Changed the Debian build so that it will pick the ICU 
version
number automatically, and generate the appropriate control file and
maintainer scripts. It will also add an entry to the changelog
every time the ICU version number is greater than the last one that
has an entry in the changelog.

24e3e379b4 ICU-208 create the $(prefix)/lib/icu/current symlink that Steven wanted, 
and then put Makefile.inc in the numbered icu directory with a symlink from current/Makefile.inc
to where people expect Makefile.inc to be. (Note: at this time, it is not yet possible
to install the development files for many ICU releases in the same
root). The current link may be used by Xerces-C which links against
libicudata (patch submitted upstream).

Debian and RPM packages will actually not archive the current symlink
but rather maintain it themselves across libicuXX packages
installations so that it always points to the highest-numbered version
installed on teh system."
