1f8c31b101 [infra] Add initial Bazel rules and files
These rules can be used to build our GMs on WASM+WebGL and
libskia.a with just the CPU backend (and most other features
turned off).

This can be done with the following commands:
  - bazel build //modules/canvaskit:gm-bindings-wasm --gpu_backend=gl_backend --with_gl_standard=webgl_standard
  - bazel build :skia-core --config clang

This pivots slightly from http://review.skia.org/463517
by using config_settings [1] instead of platforms for
the optional features that we control. This pivot was
suggested in [2]

We have BUILD.bazel files in many of the subdirectories
that specify filegroups for the appropriate files. In
an effort to make //BUILD.bazel more readable, it is
the responsibility of these subfolders to deal with
conditionally including certain .h or .cpp files.
This is done using select statements and config_settings
or platform constraints as necessary.

For example, src/gpu/BUILD.bazel will different private
filegroups for each of the supported gpu backends [3]
and a more-visible filegroup called "srcs" that has
the right selection of the private files to be used
for compilation.

An effort has been made to avoid using glob() in our
BUILD.bazel files. These file lists were made by using
`ls -1` and some regex to add in quotes. We might want
to make a helper script to assist with that, if necessary.

To specify which options we have, the settings in
//bazel/common_config_settings/BUILD.bazel have been
redesigned. They make use of a macro `string_flag_with_values`
that removes the boilerplate. Patchset 36 shows what the
file looks like w/o the macro.

The top level BUILD.bazel file will still need to use
some logic to handle defines, because local_defines is
a list of strings, not a list of labels [4].

Suggested Review Order:
  - WORKSPACE.bazel to see the new dependencies on the
    emsdk toolchain and bazel_skylib
  - bazel/common_config_settings/* to see the few settings
defined (we have more to define, see BUILD.gn and
    //gn/skia.gni for ideas)
  - BUILD.bazel to see the "skia-core" cc_library rule.
    See also "gms" and "tests"
  - modules/canvaskit/BUILD.bazel to see the use of
the emscripten "wasm_cc_binary" rule, which depends
on the "skia-core", "gms", and "tests" rule. Note that
it only builds some of the gms as a proof of concept.
  - The other BUILD.bazel files. Some of these are not
platform or feature dependent (e.g. pathops). Others
    are (e.g. gpu).
  - All other files.

7cde28909f Enforce basic limits on function stack size in SkSL.
Functions that declare variables totaling more than 100,000 slots will
now generate an error.

This is only a partial mitigation to the problem, as a sophisticated
attack could still chain/nest multiple functions together to consume
extremely large amounts of stack. However, this mitigation is still more
sophisticated than our peers; both WebGL and glslang are susceptible to
similar problems, and in the general case (ES3+ with full flow control)
it's intractable.

Add a getter to SkTypeface to provide information on whether it

Since remote SkTypefaces do not have access to table information,

afa657d6ab Move GR_MAKE_BITFIELD_OPS and GrAlignTo to non-GPU files
This is a more cautious attempt of https://skia-review.googlesource.com/c/skia/+/464876

GrAlignTo renamed to SkAlignTo and moved to SkTypes.h
(with the rest of our align helpers).

GR_MAKE_BITFIELD_OPS and GR_DECL_BITFIELD_OPS_FRIENDS
renamed to SK_* and moved to private/SkMacros.h

This avoids our public includes using a src header file
and messing with SkUtils.h, which apparently was used
by Android. That should be cleaned up in a separate effort.

65a726bb49 Move GR_MAKE_BITFIELD_OPS and GrAlignTo to non-GPU files
These have been renamed SK_MAKE_BITFIELD_OPS and SkAlignTo
because nothing seemed particularly GPU/Ganesh specific to them.

I moved the latter to SkTypes.h because we have other align
code there and former to src/SkUtils.h because I didn't know
where else it should go.

The primary motivation was removing the GrTypesPriv.h
include from src/core/SkBlockAllocator.h. I had attempted
some amount of #if SK_SUPPORT_GPU, but that's not as clean
here because both our CPU and GPU backends use the
SkBlockAllocator (as far as I could tell).

This also moves sk_memset* from SkUtils.h to SkOpts.h, because
SkOpts.h requires bringing in RasterPipeline, which seemed
like overkill.

4b38d9c437 Reland "Avoid crash when surface CoW allocation fails"
On low memory machines a common cause of crashes is when a draw
operation requires a large layer (or many large layers) because an
implementation of SkSurface_Base::onCopyOnWrite does not actually have
the resources available to do the copy when required by a draw. Allow
this method to fail and percolate up the call chain so that the draw
simply does not happen instead of crashing.

It appears some users are creating their own subclasses of
SkSurface_Base for their tests. Add SK_SURFACE_COPY_ON_WRITE_CRASHES to
keep the old crashy behavior until they can be updated.

97284f255b [infra] Add initial platforms and constraint values
This makes use of Bazel's pre-defined platforms
https://github.com/bazelbuild/platforms
and some of our own defined values (see
//bazel/common_config_settings/BUILD.bazel) to customize
the build rules.

I verified this by building bazel_test locally for
linux x64 as well as using the third_party deps for
a WASM build (using build files not seen in this CL).

Suggested Review Order:
 - https://docs.bazel.build/versions/main/platforms.html if not
   already familiar with Bazel Platforms
 - third_party/BUILD.bazel to see that 1) all globs have
been removed and 2) select() targets various
platform constants or groups of constants to control
   sources, headers, and local_defines.
 - common_config_settings/ to see the groups of constraints
created, as well as new constraint_settings defined
   (skdebug_impl)
 - supported_combinations/ to see how we can define supported
sets of the constraint values (aka Bazel platforms).
I imagine expanding this more, so we might have platforms
   named "linux_x64_emptyfontmgr_vulkan" or such.
 - //BUILD.bazel and bazel_test.cpp to see use of SkDebugf.
 - Everything else.

e82c1c11bc Add support for vk drm format modifiers.
On linux we need to support drm format modifiers on vulkan images. When
we have a modifier it can restrict the allowed usages/features of the
VkImage.

The current use case we have for images coming into skia that have
these modifiers are from video decoders. All these images are only used
as sampled images in draws and they have no filtering applied.
Therefore, for now, instead of tracking all format and modifier pairs
to know what is supported, we internally set these images to be external
which already restricts their use to basic in shader sampling.

Additionally in chrome, all these images are coming in ycbcr conversions

5420cbcf65 Match GLSL scoping rules more closely in SkSL.
GLSL treats builtin types and user-defined types differently; `int` and
`float` are keywords and cannot be used to name variables. However, it's
fine for a user type like `struct xyz` to be hidden by a variable
`int xyz` or even `xyz xyz` (i.e., a variable of type `struct xyz` named
`xyz`).

We now honor that distinction and include tests for it. This will fix
several ES2 conformance tests (local_struct_variable_hides_struct_type,
local_int_variable_hides_struct_type, etc.).

ff5bb37b72 Replace illegal DSLTypes with Poison types.
The fuzzer has been poking various holes in DSL by intentionally
creating illegal types (e.g. private or not ES2-compatible), then
finding ways to use those types, e.g. constructors or swizzles.

Previously we were mitigating those by calling `reportIllegalTypes` at
the locations where the type was used. Now, we detect the illegal type
usage at the source, and return a poison DSLType. This prevents the
illegal type from leaking out at all, and stops the problem at its
source. It also allows us to remove calls to `reportIllegalTypes`
sprinkled through the code, as those are now redundant.

df93db9d32 Removed a number of utility methods from DSLWriter
DSLWriter is about to be renamed to something non-DSL-specific, and
(especially since we're in the middle of trying to break up some of our
big classes anyway) it didn't feel right to leave a pile of extremely
DSL-specific utility methods in it. And since it turns out that none of
these methods really do much of anything anymore, it seemed best to
just kill them all.

We shouldn't return expressions that violate basic invariants (such as a
Constructor with an invalid Type) because future code should be able to
rely on those invariants to hold. Returning a Constructor with an
invalid Type broke some assertions I had added; these assertions checked
that the Constructor's type was valid before operating on it.

66aa1ded16 Allow precision qualifiers in function params.
Previously, `Type::applyPrecisionQualifiers` would return a new type
(e.g. `mediump + float` returned `half`) but left the precision
qualifier flags as-is. This was implemented that way because the
modifiers were already baked into a pool, so mutating them was
difficult.

The rewritten DSLParser does not share this limitation--every place
where applyPrecisionQualifiers is used, the Modifiers are easily
mutable. As a result, `applyPrecisionQualifiers` can now clear the
precision-qualifier bits on the Modifier, meaning that `half` and a
`mediump float` will generate the exact same Type/Modifier combination.

This change fixes a bug where precision qualifiers were not allowed on
function parameters. (See `check_parameters` in FunctionDeclaration.cpp
to pinpoint the cause of the error. A less-invasive fix could have just
marked those modifier bits as allowed in `check_parameters`, but this
fix addresses the root of the issue and is honestly how I wanted
`applyPrecisionQualifiers` to work all along.)

47f76853c6 Use SkSL "offset" to actually mean "line"
SkSL internally tracks token offsets, but only ever reports errors using
line numbers. With the introduction of the DSL, which (being embedded in
C++ source) only has access to line numbers in the first place, tracking
offsets went from merely providing little benefit to actively making
life more difficult.

We are changing SkSL's position tracking from handling offsets to
handling line numbers, but to simplify the review process the change is
split up into two main steps. The first step (this CL) starts using
line numbers everywhere, but avoids the thousand-line churn of actually
renaming "offset", so most "offset" fields, variables, and parameters
will be briefly misnamed and will actually contain a line number.

The followup CL will complete the process by renaming all of the
now-misnamed fields, variables, and parameters, but will not make any
behavioral changes.

This should allow lightweight DSL usage without needing access to a

77435597fa Add memoryless attachment support for vulkan dmsaa.
For this initial landing, we actually have the memoryless support
disabled because we need to update Chrome's vk memory allocator to
handle the new lazy flag added in this CL. Otherwise we will fail to
make dmsaa attachments and not draw anything.

I tested this on ARM and the it does look to keep the size of all the
lazy msaa attachments at 0. I test with both 4 and 8 sample counts. To
confirm the size check, I changed the store op on the msaa attachments
from discard to store and the reported memory size did grow.

3d9c73c100 Use thread_local on iOS
Using thread_local on iOS requires iOS 9 or greater. Chrome for iOS
now requires 13, Skia sets the minimum to 11 for test builds, and
Flutter actively does not support 8 or earlier. Dropping support for
iOS 8 in practice and moving to iOS 9 makes it possible to use
thread_local without reservations on iOS.

Internally, these can be very useful for assembling code fragments.

Externally, our users shouldn't have any SkSL::Statement or

10c9f36bdd New approach to GrProcessor uniforms.
The important aspect is that it allows knowing the uniforms that will
be used by a set of processors without having to create ProgramImpls.

GrProcessor subclasses specify uniforms at creation time in a similar
style to how GrGeometryProcessors already specify attributes. That is,
they initialize a span of structs describing the uniform which may
contain void uniforms that are skipped. Unlike attributes, the struct
contains an offset into the processor where the data is stored.

GrUniformAggregator is used to collect the uniforms from all processors
that compose a draw and mangle their names. The ProgramImpl subclasses
query the aggregator for their uniform names when emitting code.

The old system for uniforms is left intact and only three processors,
one GP, one FP, and one XP, are updated to use the new system.

Some pieces that are missing before everything can be moved over:
-support for uniforms not owned by GrProcessor (e.g. rt-adjust)
-support for samplers
-helpers for common patterns
 (e.g. GrGeometryProcessor::ProgramImpl::setupUniformColor(),
and the various matrix helpers on ProgramImpl)

While making this change, also make fBeginningOfData and fRefCnt

4a5e22a8c8 Further unified error handling between SkSL and DSL
This eliminates the SkSL ErrorReporter class and funnels everything

work to be done in that area, but this at least passes all existing
tests.

832c817bc8 Remove GrBackendFormat's textureType use from isFormatTexturable call.
The goal of this change was to remove the use of GrBackendFormat::textureType()
from GrCaps::isFormatTexturable call. Instead we will always pass in a
GrTextureType into this call.

To do this a lot of plumbing of GrTextureType was added to various call
sites. However, this CL halts the plubming up at the proxy level where we
get it from the GrBackendFormat still. Future CLs will continue removing
these call sites and others that use GrBackendFormat::textureType().

4979d2b18d Simplify device clip restriction impl
This removes all low-level handling of the device clip restriction. It's
no longer part of the SkDevice API, nor needed by any of the backend-
specific classes for handling their clip stack.s

The device restriction is intersected using a regular op when it's set
and it's remembered and manually applied to the device bounds when
resetClip() is called. This is all handled inside SkCanvas.

I also took the opportunity to add asserts and better state transitions
to its implementation, since it had been in an awkward middle ground
between depending on the save/restore stack and not being kept in
sync with it.

We were previously using a mix of pass-by-value and pass-by-pointer (to

ea3489aa1d Make Gr*ContextPriv class hierarchy parallel Gr*Context class hierarchy
Hopefully this will make it easier to add functionality to the Gr*ContextPriv classes.

This CL is mainly mechanical but did turn up some oddities:

GrDirectContext had a separate 'fShaderErrorHandler' member and a matching GrDirectContextPriv::getShaderErrorHandler method. This now falls back to GrBaseContextPriv::getShaderErrorHandler.

GrDirectContext::resetContextStats was const.

GrRecordingContextPriv's dump and dumpKeyValuePairs methods weren't const.

GrImageContextPriv::abandoned was const. GrImageContext::abandoned is not (bc GrDirectContext can abandon inside abandoned).

cfd204a785 Rename/simplify SkCanvas::resetClip() and make recordable
AndroidFramework uses both their own custom display list (which could
handle resetClip with android-side changes) AND conventional picture
recording. In order for replace op emulation to work when they have
been recorded into a picture, we need to make it virtual and supported
in SkPicture.

This also renames the API to ResetClip() from ReplaceClip() and does not
have any additional arguments. Based on AF's usage pattern, it only n
needs to reset the clip to the surface bounds or the device clip
restriction, it seems best to reduce the API as much as possible before
it's adopted.

a2d22b2e08 Broke DSLVar into separate subclasses
Previously, DSLVar represented local, global, and parameter variables.
This splits it into three separate subclasses.

In addition to just being a cleaner API in general, this also addresses
an issue we ran into with the upcoming DSLParser: previously, a global
DSLVar's storage was not set correctly until DeclareGlobal was called,
so an AddToSymbolTable call prior to DeclareGlobal would create the
SkSL variable with the wrong storage, causing spurious errors on
global-only modifiers. But holding off on the AddToSymbolTable tends to
break constructs like "int x = 0, y = x", so improving the API seemed
like the best way to address it.

Now that we have greater type safety around variables, we can
potentially avoid having to call AddToSymbolTable for DSLVar and
DSLGlobalVar altogether, since we know they are both supposed to end up
in the symbol table, but that isn't something I want to change in this
CL.

f8b7c1ac5f Pass CTM to path effects (experimental)
Add an overload to SkPathEffect that can be used when the CTM is known
at the callsite. GPU callsites are not handled here, that will be
tackled in a separate CL.

Path effects must implement the filterPath virtual that accepts the CTM,
although they are not obligated to use it. If a path effect does
use the CTM, the output geometry must be in the original coordinate
space, not device space.

Can we use something like this to reimpl the ArithmeticImageFilter

I see some special checking in filterBounds for ArithIF -- is that

If we can generalize blend[er]imagefilter, let's just move this
logic into Chrome -- no need for Arithmetic to appear in Skia

Reland works around Adreno issue with this formulation of sk_Clockwise:

and instead adds this to the top of the function:
 bool sk_Clockwise = gl_FrontFacing;

      sk_Clockwise = !sk_Clockwise;
 }

Original description:

Previously we would insert a "rt height" uniform if sk_FragCoord needed
to be flipped. sk_FragCoord,y was implemented as "realFragCoord.y" or
"rtHeight - realFragCoord.y" depending on SkSL::ProgramSettings::fFlipY.

Now we instead use a two component vector rtFlip and sk_FragCoord.y is
always "rtFlip.x + rtFlip.y*realFragCoord.y". We configure rtFlip as
either (0, 1) or (rtHeight, -1). sk_Clockwise and dFdy simiarly use

a8ac441411 Move Mode() factory into SkBlender
This frees the SkBlenders names for optional effects, and better
reflects the fact that the "core" relies on this Mode() factory.

... and makes this clearer:
https://skia-review.googlesource.com/c/skia/+/424417

Maybe this isn't important. I see SkShaders is in core header, but
SkImageFilters is in effects, so I guess we don't have a consistent
notion for this naming yet. What I do think is semi-important is
that core headers include effects that core uses, so in this case
a Mode() factory does make sense to be in a core header, just have to
decide/bikeshed how to scope it.

04d79fc594 GrSkSLFP: Avoid making a global copy of inColor most of the time
We still need *a* copy, to satisfy SkSL that mutates the input color
parameter, but it almost never needs to be global, unless there are
calls to sample() from a function other than main.

With that tweak, we generate much better SkSL/GLSL code from every one
of our effects, avoiding the proliferation of global variables.

e58831cd95 Add format-specifier warnings to SkDebugf.
This CL fixes up many existing format-specifier violations in Skia.
Note that GCC has a warning for formatting nothing, so existing calls to
`SkDebugf("")` have been removed, or replaced with `SkDebugf("%s", "")`.
These were apparently meant to be used as a place to set a breakpoint.

Some of our clients also use SkDebug with bad format specifiers, so this
check is currently only enabled when SKIA_IMPLEMENTATION is true.

83420eb817 Rewrite tessellation atlases as normal render tasks
Rewrites tessellation atlases as normal render tasks instead of
"onFlush" tasks. These tasks get inserted into the DAG upfront, lay
out their atlases as dependent tasks get built and reference them, and
finally add their ops to render themselves during onMakeClosed. Doing it
this way allows us to pause the flush and re-render the atlas whenever
it runs out of room.

4ff6072351 Enable reduceOpsTaskSplitting by default
Chrome does not rely on the default – this option is under a finch trial
named "ReduceOpsTaskSplitting." See crbug.com/1210578.

Android does not rely on the default – the flag is controlled by a
property named "renderthread.skia.reduceopstasksplitting", and enabled
by default. See b/183612348.

Flutter does not rely on the default – they explicitly disable the
option. See https://github.com/flutter/engine/pull/26568.

Our tools do not rely on the default – they enable the flag unless the
user passes --dontReduceOpsTaskSplitting on command line. Our bots
run with the flag enabled except the NUC5PPYH, for the sake of coverage.

The flag has no effect for Adreno 620 and 640, on drivers older than
v571, due to a driver bug.

294723d690 Move GrOp::VisitProxyFunc to GrTypesPriv.h GrVisitProxyFunc
This is almost purely a query/replace CL (% the #include juggling).
The VisitProxyFunc is used by more than just the Ops and will probably
still be required in the NGA.

This is a prelude to making all the remaining GrOp-derived classes OGA-only.

9c2fccbbee Add SkBlender setters and getters to SkPaint.
In this CL, the SkBlender field on the paint is inert; it is not honored
by any of our drawing code. Only setting/getting/hashing the field is
supported. Flattening the SkPaint will not yet preserve the SkBlender.

cc2d073020 Remove SkPaint::getHash
This was a particularly bad hash (A == B didn't imply
hash(A) == hash(B)). It was also entirely unused.

491282486e Reland "Add SkRuntimeBlender class."
This is a reland of 6034941cc2

Original change's description:
> Add SkRuntimeBlender class.
>
> This class is returned by SkRuntimeEffect::makeBlender when a runtime
> blend is returned. SkRuntimeBlendBuilder is also added as a convenience
> class to simplify creation and uniform setup.
>
> Our ability to add tests is limited in this CL because the SkPaint does
> not contain an SkBlender yet. We do have one test which builds an
> SkBlender, but there's not much we can do with it. Testing will be
> bulked up in the next CL.
