[Interpreter] Refactor bytecode generator test suite. Bytecode expectations have been moved to external (.golden) files, one per test. Each test in the suite builds a representation of the the compiled bytecode using BytecodeExpectationsPrinter. The output is then compared to the golden file. If the comparision fails, a textual diff can be used to identify the discrepancies. Only the test snippets are left in the cc file, which also allows to make it more compact and meaningful. Leaving the snippets in the cc file was a deliberate choice to allow keeping the "truth" about the tests in the cc file, which will rarely change, as opposed to golden files. Golden files can be generated and kept up to date using generate-bytecode-expectations, which also means that the test suite can be batch updated whenever the bytecode or golden format changes. The golden format has been slightly amended (no more comments about `void*`, add size of the bytecode array) following the consideration made while converting the tests. [class] implement static private methods This patch refactors the declaration and allocation of the class variable, and implements static private methods: - The class variable is declared in the class scope with an explicit reference through class_scope->class_variable(). This flag is recorded as HasSavedClassVariableIndexField in the scope info. - Classes that need the class variable to be saved due to access to static private methods now save a ShouldSaveClassVariableIndexField in the preparse data so that the bits on the variables can be updated during a reparse. In the case of anonymous classes that need the class variables to be saved, we also re-declare the class variable after the reparse since the inner functions are skipped and we need to rely on the preparse data flags to remember declaring it. [interpreter] Make FunctionEntry StackCheck bytecodes implicit FunctionEntry StackChecks is one of the two cases where we generate a StackCheck bytecode. In these cases, we do stack check against the js limit (not to be confused with the real js limit). Their purpose is to be able to interrupt the running code. We can omit the FunctionEntry StackCheck by embedding its code into the InterpreterEntryTrampoline builtin. We save one bytecode per interpreted function. This change has rippling effects for optimized code, as well as the deoptimizer. [ignition] Only initialize [[HomeObject]] for class constructors if needed This moves the initialization of [[HomeObject]] for constructors from the %DefineClass runtime function into the bytecode generator, and makes it conditional (resolving an old TODO). As part of this refactor, avoid a load of "prototype" by returning the class prototype from %DefineClass. This is one of many steps in moving more of class definition into bytecode. To support feedback free execution (for V8 lite mode and lazy allocation of feedback vectors) we need to infer the IC kind even when feedback vectors are not present. To be able to infer the language mode without feedback vectors, this cl forces context allocation in cases where we raise the language mode in the middle of a function. The language mode is the stricter of the language mode on the SFI and the language mode of the current context. This cl updates the bytecode handlers to check for valid feedback vectors and to call into runtime if the feedback vector is not allocated. It also adds new runtime functions to be able to infer the IC kind when there is no feedback vector. Most of the builtins and handlers remain unchanged because they are only used when feedback vector is present. [class] implement static private methods This patch refactors the declaration and allocation of the class variable, and implements static private methods: - The class variable is declared in the class scope with an explicit reference through class_scope->class_variable(). Anonymous classes whose class variable may be accessed transitively through static private method access use the dot string as the class name. Whether the class variable is allocated depending on whether it is used. Other references of the class variable in the ClassLiteral AST node and the ClassInfo structure are removed in favor of the reference through the class scope. - Previously the class variable was always (stack- or context-) allocated if the class is named. Now if the class variable is only referenced by name, it's stack allocated. If it's used transitively by access to static private methods, or may be used through eval, it's context allocated. Therefore we now use 1 less context slots in the class context if it's a named class without anyone referencing it by name in inner scopes. - Explicit access to static private methods or potential access to static private methods through eval results in forced context allocation of the class variables. In those cases, we save its index in context locals in the ScopeInfo and deserialize it later, so that we can check that the receiver of static private methods is the class constructor at run time. This flag is recorded as HasSavedClassVariableIndexField in the scope info. - Classes that need the class variable to be saved due to access to static private methods now save a ShouldSaveClassVariableIndexField in the preparse data so that the bits on the variables can be updated during a reparse. Don't use feedback vector to infer IC kind and language mode Currently, the runtime IC functions deduce the IC kind and the language mode from the feedback slot kind. To support feedback free execution (for V8 lite mode and lazy allocation of feedback vectors) we need to infer the IC kind even when feedback vectors are not present. To be able to infer the language mode without feedback vectors, this cl forces context allocation in cases where we raise the language mode in the middle of a function. The language mode is the stricter of the language mode on the SFI and the language mode of the current context. This cl updates the bytecode handlers to check for valid feedback vectors and to call into runtime if the feedback vector is not allocated. It also adds new runtime functions to be able to infer the IC kind when there is no feedback vector. Most of the builtins and handlers remain unchanged because they are only used when feedback vector is present. [Interpreter] Remove constant pool type in tests For historical reasons, the interpreter's bytecode expectations tests required a type for the constant pool. This had two disadvantages: 1. Strings and numbers were not visible in mixed pools, and 2. Mismatches of pool types (e.g. when rebaselining) would cause parser errors This removes the pool types, making everything 'mixed', but appending the values to string and number valued constants. Specifying a pool type in the *.golden header now prints a warning (for backwards compatibility). [interpreter] Make FunctionEntry StackCheck bytecodes implicit FunctionEntry StackChecks is one of the two cases where we generate a StackCheck bytecode. In these cases, we do stack check against the js limit (not to be confused with the real js limit). Their purpose is to be able to interrupt the running code. We can omit the FunctionEntry StackCheck by embedding its code into the InterpreterEntryTrampoline builtin. We save one bytecode per interpreted function. This change has rippling effects for optimized code, as well as the deoptimizer. [ignition] Only initialize [[HomeObject]] for class constructors if needed This moves the initialization of [[HomeObject]] for constructors from the %DefineClass runtime function into the bytecode generator, and makes it conditional (resolving an old TODO). As part of this refactor, avoid a load of "prototype" by returning the class prototype from %DefineClass. This is one of many steps in moving more of class definition into bytecode. Don't use feedback vector to infer IC kind and language mode Currently, the runtime IC functions deduce the IC kind and the language mode from the feedback slot kind. To support feedback free execution (for V8 lite mode and lazy allocation of feedback vectors) we need to infer the IC kind even when feedback vectors are not present. To be able to infer the language mode without feedback vectors, this cl forces context allocation in cases where we raise the language mode in the middle of a function. The language mode is the stricter of the language mode on the SFI and the language mode of the current context. This cl updates the bytecode handlers to check for valid feedback vectors and to call into runtime if the feedback vector is not allocated. It also adds new runtime functions to be able to infer the IC kind when there is no feedback vector. Most of the builtins and handlers remain unchanged because they are only used when feedback vector is present. [class] implement static private methods This patch refactors the declaration and allocation of the class variable, and implements static private methods: - The class variable is declared in the class scope with an explicit reference through class_scope->class_variable(). Anonymous classes whose class variable may be accessed transitively through static private method access use the dot string as the class name. Whether the class variable is allocated depending on whether it is used. Other references of the class variable in the ClassLiteral AST node and the ClassInfo structure are removed in favor of the reference through the class scope. - Previously the class variable was always (stack- or context-) allocated if the class is named. Now if the class variable is only referenced by name, it's stack allocated. If it's used transitively by access to static private methods, or may be used through eval, it's context allocated. Therefore we now use 1 less context slots in the class context if it's a named class without anyone referencing it by name in inner scopes. - Explicit access to static private methods or potential access to static private methods through eval results in forced context allocation of the class variables. In those cases, we save its index in context locals in the ScopeInfo and deserialize it later, so that we can check that the receiver of static private methods is the class constructor at run time. This flag is recorded as HasSavedClassVariableIndexField in the scope info. - Classes that need the class variable to be saved due to access to static private methods now save a ShouldSaveClassVariableIndexField in the preparse data so that the bits on the variables can be updated during a reparse. Strings and numbers were not visible in mixed pools, and 2. Leaving the snippets in the cc file was a deliberate choice to allow keeping the "truth" about the tests in the cc file, which will rarely change, as opposed to golden files. Golden files can be generated and kept up to date using generate-bytecode-expectations, which also means that the test suite can be batch updated whenever the bytecode or golden format changes. The golden format has been slightly amended (no more comments about `void*`, add size of the bytecode array) following the consideration made while converting the tests. There is also a fix: BytecodeExpectationsPrinter::top_level_ was left uninitialized, leading to undefined behaviour. In these cases, we do stack check against the js limit (not to be confused with the real js limit). Their purpose is to be able to interrupt the running code. We can omit the FunctionEntry StackCheck by embedding its code into the InterpreterEntryTrampoline builtin. We save one bytecode per interpreted function. [class] implement static private methods This patch refactors the declaration and allocation of the class variable, and implements static private methods: - The class variable is declared in the class scope with an explicit reference through class_scope->class_variable(). Anonymous classes whose class variable may be accessed transitively through static private method access use the dot string as the class name. Whether the class variable is allocated depending on whether it is used. Other references of the class variable in the ClassLiteral AST node and the ClassInfo structure are removed in favor of the reference through the class scope. - Previously the class variable was always (stack- or context-) allocated if the class is named. Allocate feedback cells in an array decoupled from other slots This is a pre-work for allocating feedback vectors lazily. Feedback cells are required to share the feedback vectors across the different closures of the same function. Currently, they are held in the CreateClosureSlot in the feedback vector. With lazy feedback vector allocation, we may not have a feedback vector. However, we still need a place to store the feedback cells, so if feedback vector is allocated in future it can still be shared across closures. [Interpreter] Refactor bytecode generator test suite. Bytecode expectations have been moved to external (.golden) files, one per test. Each test in the suite builds a representation of the the compiled bytecode using BytecodeExpectationsPrinter. The output is then compared to the golden file. If the comparision fails, a textual diff can be used to identify the discrepancies. Only the test snippets are left in the cc file, which also allows to make it more compact and meaningful. Leaving the snippets in the cc file was a deliberate choice to allow keeping the "truth" about the tests in the cc file, which will rarely change, as opposed to golden files. Golden files can be generated and kept up to date using generate-bytecode-expectations, which also means that the test suite can be batch updated whenever the bytecode or golden format changes. The golden format has been slightly amended (no more comments about `void*`, add size of the bytecode array) following the consideration made while converting the tests. There is also a fix: BytecodeExpectationsPrinter::top_level_ was left uninitialized, leading to undefined behaviour. Replace Context::closure with Context::scope_info, allowing closure to die. To be able to infer the language mode without feedback vectors, this cl forces context allocation in cases where we raise the language mode in the middle of a function. The language mode is the stricter of the language mode on the SFI and the language mode of the current context. This cl updates the bytecode handlers to check for valid feedback vectors and to call into runtime if the feedback vector is not allocated. It also adds new runtime functions to be able to infer the IC kind when there is no feedback vector. Most of the builtins and handlers remain unchanged because they are only used when feedback vector is present. [interpreter] Make FunctionEntry StackCheck bytecodes implicit FunctionEntry StackChecks is one of the two cases where we generate a StackCheck bytecode. In these cases, we do stack check against the js limit (not to be confused with the real js limit). Their purpose is to be able to interrupt the running code. We can omit the FunctionEntry StackCheck by embedding its code into the InterpreterEntryTrampoline builtin. We save one bytecode per interpreted function. This change has rippling effects for optimized code, as well as the deoptimizer. Don't use feedback vector to infer IC kind and language mode Currently, the runtime IC functions deduce the IC kind and the language mode from the feedback slot kind. To support feedback free execution (for V8 lite mode and lazy allocation of feedback vectors) we need to infer the IC kind even when feedback vectors are not present. To be able to infer the language mode without feedback vectors, this cl forces context allocation in cases where we raise the language mode in the middle of a function. [ignition] Only initialize [[HomeObject]] for class constructors if needed This moves the initialization of [[HomeObject]] for constructors from the %DefineClass runtime function into the bytecode generator, and makes it conditional (resolving an old TODO). As part of this refactor, avoid a load of "prototype" by returning the class prototype from %DefineClass. This is one of many steps in moving more of class definition into bytecode. Don't use feedback vector to infer IC kind and language mode Currently, the runtime IC functions deduce the IC kind and the language mode from the feedback slot kind. To support feedback free execution (for V8 lite mode and lazy allocation of feedback vectors) we need to infer the IC kind even when feedback vectors are not present. [class] implement static private methods This patch refactors the declaration and allocation of the class variable, and implements static private methods: - The class variable is declared in the class scope with an explicit reference through class_scope->class_variable(). Anonymous classes whose class variable may be accessed transitively through static private method access use the dot string as the class name. Whether the class variable is allocated depending on whether it is used. Other references of the class variable in the ClassLiteral AST node and the ClassInfo structure are removed in favor of the reference through the class scope. - Previously the class variable was always (stack- or context-) allocated if the class is named. Now if the class variable is only referenced by name, it's stack allocated. If it's used transitively by access to static private methods, or may be used through eval, it's context allocated. Therefore we now use 1 less context slots in the class context if it's a named class without anyone referencing it by name in inner scopes. - Explicit access to static private methods or potential access to static private methods through eval results in forced context allocation of the class variables. In those cases, we save its index in context locals in the ScopeInfo and deserialize it later, so that we can check that the receiver of static private methods is the class constructor at run time. This flag is recorded as HasSavedClassVariableIndexField in the scope info. - Classes that need the class variable to be saved due to access to static private methods now save a ShouldSaveClassVariableIndexField in the preparse data so that the bits on the variables can be updated during a reparse.
