0d22e7e46a [x64/ia32] Deal with the non-transitivity of InstructionSelector::CanCover() when folding loads into branches.
Sequences like:

1: Load[kRepWord32|kTypeInt32](<address>, ...)
2: Word32And(1, <constant>)
3: Word32Equal(2, <another constant>)
4: Store[(kRepWord32 : NoWriteBarrier)](<address>, <value>)
5: Branch[None](3, ...) -> B1, B2

where #1 and #4 refer to the same memory location, are problematic because in VisitBranch we assume that 'InstructionSelector::CanCover()' is transitive.

What happens is that CanCover(5, 3) is true (3 is a pure op), and so are CanCover(3, 2), CanCover(2, 1), but the effect level of 5 and 3 never gets checked because 3 is a pure op. Upon VisitBranch, we ended up materializing:

mov [address], <value>
test [address], <another constant>

With this patch, it becomes:

mov reg, [address]
mov [address], <value>
test reg, <another constant>

7ca1f80d31 [runtime] Fix number of literals for builtin functions.
This fixes the SharedFunctionInfo::num_literals field for global builtin
functions (e.g. {Object} and friends) to be accurate. The field was not
being updated by Runtime_SetCode. It also removes the dangerous and by
now obsolete JSFunction::NumberOfLiterals accessor.

94ad3b1826 Refactor script position calculation
Script position calculation logic (i.e. line & column numbers for a
given code position) is now based on a single method
Script::GetPositionInfo(). Refactored related code in isolate.cc and
js/messages.js to use the new method. The line_ends accessor is still
in use by chromium and thus cannot be removed yet.

b71f1cc2f4 Bugfix: Crankshaft array literals with incorrect values.
In VisitArrayLiteral(), we stopped creating boilerplates during
compilation. This created a bug, because we'd emit an HStoreKeyed with an
ElementsKind based on the initial elements kind of the boilerplate. Since
boilerplates may transition as part of elements transition feedback, this can
lead to incorrect values (storing a smi in a double array).

de7d47e22f Remove now-incorrect DataView accessor optimization
In ES2015, the "byteLength" and "byteOffset" properties of DataViews are
getters on the prototype, so the previously-used strategy of special-casing
them using only the receiver map is invalid.

A future CL will need to use the same strategy which will be taken for
TypedArray "length", "byteLength", and "byteOffset": adding a prototype
chain check.

11b661f414 [turbofan] ARM: Support shifted indexes in loads and stores
This patch is a follow up to https://codereview.chromium.org/1972103002/
adding support for the `Operand_R_LSL_I` addressing mode to loads and
stores for ARM.

Just as the ARM64 implementation, the shift + load/store pattern is only
really relevant to the interpreter. For this reason, this patch does not
add support for the other addressing modes (`R_LSR_I`, `R_ASR_I` and
`R_ROR_I`) as I haven't seen those pattern being generated. Additionally,
the optimization is restricted 32 bit loads and stores.

cbdb373804 [turbofan] Add FixedArray peephole optimizations to CodeStubAssembler
Previously, CodeStubAssembler macros performing FixedArray element accesses had
to compute offsets to elements explicitly with a fair amount of duplicated
code. Furthermore, any peephole optimizations that could produce better code--
like recognizing constant indices or combining array index computation with Smi
untagging--were also duplicated.

This change factors the code to compute FixedArray index offsets into a common
routine in the CodeStubAssembler that applies standard peephole optimizations to
all accesses. In order to do this, it also introduces limited introspection into
the up-until-now opaque Node* type exported from code-assembler.h, allowing
Nodes to be queried whether they are constant and extracting their constant
value in that case.

f241a61a34 [Interpreter] Support compiling for baseline on return from interpreted function.
We cannot tier up from interpreted to baseline code when there is an
activation of the function on the stack. This significantly regresses
the performance of recursive functions since they are unlikely to get
tiered up.

This CL adds the ability for a function to be marked for baseline
compilation when it returns. To do this we patch the
InterpreterEntryTrampoline return address to point to
InterpreterMarkBaselineOnReturn, which leaves the
interpreted frame and recompile the function for
baseline.

This improves the score of EarlyBoyer by ~8x for Ignition.

479de28c3a Revert of Adding ia32 simd assembler changes. (patchset #2 id:20001 of https://codereview.chromium.org/1991713002/ )
Reason for revert:
Crashes on win32 debug:
https://build.chromium.org/p/client.v8/builders/V8%20Win32%20-%20debug/builds/2305/steps/Check/logs/stdio

Also, would be nice if the test output could be a bit shorter and only print what's necessary to trace a failure. Or split things into more smaller tests. Like that, these logs must be processed, json-encoded/decoded and sent around through the infrastructure.

Some chars in the output make the json encoder unhappy, therefore the infrastructure can't nicely display the failures.

d0c65f93bf [parser] Relex restriction on reserved words
Some IdentifierNames are only included in the set of FutureReservedWords
for strict mode code. Outside of strict mode, these IdentifierNames may
be used as Identifiers. Notably, this includes their use as
BindingIdentifiers in LexicalBindings.

From ES2015 12.1.1 Static Semantics: Early Errors (Identifiers):

> It is a Syntax Error if this phrase is contained in strict mode code
> and the StringValue of IdentifierName is: "implements", "interface",
> "let", "package", "private", "protected", "public", "static", or
> "yield".

http://www.ecma-international.org/ecma-262/6.0/#sec-identifiers-static-semantics-early-errors

Due to a error in its heuristic for disambiguating the `let` token, V8
does not currently allow any of the strict-mode-only FutureReservedWords
to be used as a BindingIdentifier outside of strict mode.

Update V8's heuristic for disambiguating the `let` keyword to account
for strict mode, enabling these IdentifierNames to be used

60fb6ea1b8 [turbofan] ARM64: Support shifted indexes in loads and stores
This patch adds support for the `Operand2_R_LSL_I` addressing mode to
loads and stores. This allows merging a shift instruction into a
MemoryOperand. Since the shift immediate is restricted to the log2 of
the operation width, the opportunities to hit this are slim. However,
Ignition's bytecode handlers hit this case all the time:

kind = BYTECODE_HANDLER
name = Star
compiler = turbofan
Instructions (size = 44)
0x23e67280 0 add x1, x19, #0x1 (1)

Additionally, I noticed the optimisation occurs once in both the
`StringPrototypeCharAt` and `StringPrototypeCharCodeAt` turbofan stubs.

bb04e1243e Remove Expression::bounds_, in order to conserve memory during parsing.
Expression::bounds_ is used only by a subset of compile passes, but the
data structure occupies space for every Expression node ever parsed. This
unneccessarily increases memory consumption. Particularly, peak memory
consumption during startup, which may cause out-of-memory errors.

This CL
- removes Expression::bounds_;
- introduces an AstTypeBounds container, which mappes Expression* to Bounds;
- modifies the code that actually requires bounds information, namely
Crankshaft compile and AsmWasmBuilder, to instantiate such an AstTypeBounds
container before typing and to pass it to the code that consumes this
  information; and
- modifies all accesses to Expression::bounds_ to instead access the bounds
  via the container instead.

Additionally, this rewrites test-ast-expression-visitor. The reason is that
this code attempted to test AstExpressionVisitor but did so exclusively
through its subclass ExpressionTypeCollector, meaning that the test dealt
almost exclusively with type bounds despite the class-under-test having
no knowledge or functionality related to it. Worse, the test was written
in a way to assume that type bounds were available outside & after
compilation, which is something this change changes.

4aec7ba1aa [wasm] Implement parallel compilation.
With this CL it is possible to compile a wasm module with multiple
threads in parallel. Parallel compilation works as follows:

1) The main thread allocates a compilation unit for each wasm function.
2) The main thread spawns WasmCompilationTasks which run on the
     background threads.
3.a) The background threads and the main thread pick one compilation unit
at a time and execute the parallel phase of the compilation unit.
After finishing the execution of the parallel phase, the compilation
unit is stored in a result queue.
3.b) If the result queue contains a compilation unit, the main thread
dequeues it and finishes its compilation.
4) After the execution of the parallel phase of all compilation units has
started, the main thread waits for all WasmCompilationTasks to finish.
5) The main thread finalizes the compilation of the module.

I'm going to add some additional tests before committing this CL.

When I18N is enabled, use ICU's case conversion API and transliteration
API [1] to implement String.prototype.to{Upper,Lower}Case and
String.prototype.toLocale{Upper,Lower}Case.

* ICU-based case conversion was implemented in runtime-i18n.cc/i18n.js
* The above 4 functions are overridden with those in i18n.js when
--icu_case_mapping flag is turned on. To control the override by the flag,
  they're overriden in icu-case-mapping.js

Previously, toLocale{U,L}Case just called to{U,L}Case so that they didn't
support locale-sensitive case conversion for Turkic languages (az, tr),
Greek (el) and Lithuanian (lt).

Before ICU APIs for the most general case are called, a fast-path for Latin-1
is tried. It's taken from Blink and adopted as necessary. This fast path
is always tried for to{U,L}Case. For toLocale{U,L}Case, it's only taken
when a locale (explicitly specified or default) is not in {az, el, lt, tr}.

With these changes, a build with --icu_case_mapping=true passes a bunch
of tests in test262/intl402/Strings/* and intl/* that failed before.

Handling of pure ASCII strings (aligned at word boundary) are not as fast
as Unibrow's implementation that uses word-by-word case conversion. OTOH,
Latin-1 input handling is faster than Unibrow. General Unicode input
handling is slower but more accurate.

See https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KJCJxKc1FxFXjwmYqABS0_2cNdPetvnd8gY8_HGSbrg/edit?usp=sharing for the benchmark.

This CL started with http://crrev.com/1544023002#ps200001 by littledan@,
but has changed significantly since.

[1] See why transliteration API is needed for uppercasing in Greek.

40f345416f [Interpreter] Fix incorrect frame walking in arguments create stubs
The previous approach taken by FastNew[Sloppy,Strict,Rest]ArgumentsStub
looked at the function slot in order to skip stub frames
and find the JS frame. However, stub frames do not have a
function slot (in fact their fixed frame ends one slot
before the JS frame's function slot). Therefore, if this
location in the stub frame happens to have the function
object the create arguments stubs won't skip this frame
correctly.

Replace this approach with one where the stub is
specialized to either skip a frame if required (since
there will only ever be one extra frame on Ignition
the loop approach isn't necessary).

1721543865 [wasm] Implement parallel compilation.

I'm going to add some additional tests before committing this CL.

a6da98d86f Introduce a new phantom weakness type without finalization callback.
Handles of this type are automatically reset by the garbage collector
when their objects are not longer reachable.

The motivation is to reduce pause time of external.weak_global_handles
phase of the garbage collector by not maintaing the list of pending
callbacks and not calling the callbacks.

Local testing on discourse page of the v8.inifinite_scroll benchmark
shows 7x improvement for this GC phase.

Before:
external.weak_global_handles

After:

A follow-up patch will enable the new phantom handles in Chromium.

75f2d65f00 Don't treat catch scopes as possibly-shadowing for sloppy eval
Scope analysis is over-conservative when treating variable resolutions
as possibly-shadowed by a sloppy eval. In the attached bug, this comes
into play since catch scopes have different behavior with respect to
the "calls eval" in eager vs lazy compilation (in the latter, they
are never marked as "calls eval" because CatchContexts don't have
an associated ScopeInfo).

This patch changes the scope-type check to also eliminate a few other
cases where shadowing isn't possible, such as non-declaration block scopes.

04c8c11ee5 Make array __proto__ manipulations not disturb the species protector
Previously, the species protector was invalidated whenever the __proto__ of
an Array instance was manipulated. Then, if the map's new_target_is_base field
remained set, it was correct to conclude that GetPrototypeOf(array) was
%ArrayPrototype%. However, this choice caused the popular D3 framework to
invalidate the species protector, causing many functions to become slower.

This patch eliminates that aspect of the species protector. Instead, the check
is to look at the instance->map()->prototype(). It is valid to look directly
at the map's prototype slot, ignoring hidden prototypes and proxies, because
- This is only called on Array instances, so the receiver cannot be a Proxy.
- For hidden prototypes, any inaccuracy would only result in conservatively
  taking the slow path.

Theoretically, this patch could make methods applied to arrays from other
contexts slower. However, the slowdown would only affect a particular array
instance and not have a global spill-over effect. Further, the slowdown could
be addressed by tracking, either in the instance's map or in the actual
prototype object, whether it is a %ArrayPrototype% from any context, in a way
which is cheap to query, and use that rather than comparing to the currently
executing native context.

In interactive testing, this patch led the OnShape CAD system to experience
faster load times (110+s -> 40s).

c8a342a582 Fix 'eval' in class extends clauses to be always-strict
Compiler backends get their language mode from the current
function, but should instead be deriving it from the current scope.
This allows proper handling of the always-strictness of class declarations
and expressions, and in particular the treatment of 'eval' calls in an
extends clause as a strict eval.

Also fix the parser's RecordEvalCall logic to only reach out to the
DeclarationScope in sloppy mode, which fixes the strange case of a
sloppy function thinking it contains a sloppy eval when in fact
it contains only a strict eval.

Restore the basic write barrier elimination that we used to run as part
of the simplified lowering phase (in ChangeLowering actually) before, by
moving the write barrier computation to SimplifiedLowering where we can
still look at types and consider the heap/isolate, and just update the
WriteBarrierKind in the FieldAccess/ElementAccess that we later use when
lowering to a machine Load/Store.

9e9abcfff4 Properly disallow 'yield' in class expressions and arrow parameters
Yield expressions are not allowed in formal parameter initializers of
generators, but we weren't properly catching the case where the yield
expression appeared in the 'extends' clause of a class expression.

They also aren't allowed in arrow functions, which we were failing to
catch due to not looking at the obscurely-named "FormalParameterInitializerError"
bit of ExpressionClassifier.

This patch passes along an ExpressionClassifier when parsing class
expressions and accumulates the proper error for that case.

For the arrow function case, the fix is simply to check for the
"formal parameter initializer" error once we know we've parsed
an arrow function. The error message used for this has also
been made specific to yield expressions.

Tests are added both for the error case and the non-error cases (where
yield is used in such a position inside the class body).

132c09ed61 [Ignition] Test ignition on all bots.
This adds ignition to the testing variants that are run on all
bots.

Failing tests can only be skipped with the NO_IGNITION
keyword in status files. Existing expectations for the
ignition_turbofan variant are all duplicated and use the
NO_IGNITION keyword as well now.

5ea8412304 [debugger, interpreter] add source position to stack checks.
DevTools uses the debug interrupt to trap on function entry. Without
source position at the stack check, we would get bogus source positions.

Further refactor the pipeline to even run the first scheduler (part of
the effect control linearization) concurrently. This temporarily
disables most of the write barrier elimination, but we will get back to
that later.

shouldn't.
