137d83b9b6 [turboprop] Handle MinimorphicPropertyAccess in ShouldUseMegamorphic
It is possible that we fallback to GenericLowering for minimorphic
property accesses. So handle MinimorphicPropertyAccess in
ShouldUseMegamorphicLoadBuiltin.

56fe020eec [wasm][arm64] Always zero-extend 32 bit offsets, for realz
We've already been zero-extending 32-bit offset registers since
https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/2917612,
but that patch only covered the case where offset_imm == 0.
When there is a non-zero offset, we need the same fix.

JSTypedArray receivers.

The addition of new JSReceiver::OrdinaryDefineOwnProperty() overload
with LookupIterator::Key caused circular dependency between lookup.h

LookupIterator class in order to make it forward-declarable.

The previous CL was a bit too aggressive in replaceing movl with Move

We can only safely replace movl if the input is in the [0, 2**31] range.

2d04a6275e [wasm] Clean up spec'ed max memory vs dynamic max
There are two different limits for the maximum memory size in
WebAssembly:
1) A 4GB limit which is the same on all platforms, and is observable for
JS programs. It is used to limit the allowed declared maximum size of a
wasm memory.
2) A potentially lower limit (2GB on 32-bit systems, 4GB otherwise)
which can be further limited using a command-line flag. This limit is
used whenever actually allocating or growing a wasm memory. This limit
is not directly observable, but we make sure that no wasm memory will
ever be bigger than this limit.

The second limit is the one we should check against when allocating or
growing memory, while the first limit should be used when validating
a module (or the parameters for WebAssembly.Memory). The compiler can
rely on no memory being bigger than the second limit, which again is
never bigger than the first limit.

This CL adds some more documentation to the two limits, and cleans up
all usages.
This also makes {kPlatformMaxPages} and {kMaxMemoryPagesAtRuntime}
obsolete.

24ff68e8bc Reland "[compiler] Consider IsPendingAllocation in Ref construction"
This is the second reland of 4683d6fe52

Initial CL: crrev.com/c/2874663
First reland: crrev.com/c/2886861

The first reland fixes Ref construction failures in:
- MapRef::instance_descriptors
- NativeContext reads (see also crrev.com/c/2891575)

The second reland (this CL):
- Adds required infrastructure (e.g. kAssumeMemoryFence) but
without enabling the IsPendingAllocation check. Enabling the check
will be done separately to avoid further revert chains.

Original change's description:

9c5623c72e Fix data race in array sorting
For copying the SharedArrayBuffer content, we cannot use a simple
{memcpy} because that produces data races with thread concurrently
modifying the content. Instead, use a custom {Relaxed_Memcpy} that uses
proper relaxed atomics. The implementation is slightly optimized to do
word-sized loads and stores where possible. If we still get performance
regressions, we can optimize it further in follow-up CLs.

e3f21e6ddd [wasm] Consider only function names from the name section.
As per WebAssembly Web API[1], the engine should only consider names

should also take into account the imports to harvest names).

f6a3ef5643 [regalloc] Avoid duplicate moves for slot constraint
We potentially emitted the same gap move multiple times to satisfy slot
constraint of live ranges defined by a constant. Avoid this by keeping
track of already spilled ranges for a given instruction.

This is not expected to cause any regression because this case is rare.
If it does, a better approach to save allocations would be to re-use the
same vector by storing it somewhere that survives the function calls,
e.g. in the ConstraintBuilder.

Drive-by: Remove unused functions.

8d6da6d5c9 [wasm][test] Initializer exprs. for element segments
Element segments and tables in tests used an ad-hoc mechanism to
describe the different types of initializer expressions, e.g. an number
which could denote either the value of a constant or the index of a
global. This CL tidies up and generalizes the test infrastructure by
directly using WasmInitExpr in those cases.

Additional changes:
- Introduce WasmElemSegment class.
- Remove obsolete --experimental-wasm-bulk-memory flag from tests.
- Rename WasmInitExpr.type -> kind.
- Remove dependency of wasm-module-builder from mjsunit.js (except in
  assertTraps).

7ad5b96155 [liftoff] Fix >=2GB memory accesses on 32-bit
We were inconsistent in handling offsets >= 2GB on 32-bit systems. The
code was still relying on this being detected as statically out of
bounds, but with the increase of {kV8MaxWasmMemoryPages} to support 4GB
memories, this is not the case any more.

This CL fixes this by again detecting such situations as statically OOB.
We do not expect to be able to allocate memories of size >2GB on such
systems. If this assumptions turns out to be wrong, we will erroneously
trap. If that happens, we will have to explicitly disallow memories of
such size on 32-bit systems.

8c3c89b0c0 [wasm] Abort wrapper compilation on isolate shutdown
JS-to-Wasm wrappers embed heap constants (like the undefined value), and
those heap values are being accessed during compilation for tracing.
This is not a data race, since those values are read-only. But if the
isolate dies while we are compiling those wrappers, we might read from
the heap after it has been free'd.

Ideally we would not access the isolate or the heap at all during
compilation, but delaying all tracing until the "finalization" phase is
not feasible, and removing the heap value printing from tracing would
significantly regress quality of this tracing.

Hence this CL only fixes the actual issue: That we keep compiling
wrappers when the isolate is already gone. It does so by introducing an
{OperationsBarrier} per isolate that is being taken by each thread that
executes wrapper compilation, and is used for waiting for background
threads to finish before the isolate shuts down.
Additionally, we actually cancel all compilation if a module dies (or
the isolate shuts down) before it finished baseline compilation. In this
state, the module cannot be shared between isolates yet, so it's safe to
fully cancel all compilation. This cancellation is not strictly
necessary, but it will reduce the time we are blocked while waiting for
wrapper compilation to finish (because no new compilation will start).

only in polymorphic stacks, but greatly simplifies the code, especially
with the upcoming introduction of a much more complex type system in

c977b65bb9 [regexp] Don't use eats_at_least for backwards loops
The eats_at_least (EAL) value is applied in forward-directions only.
Two reasons for that which are relevant to this CL:

- EAL's of neighboring nodes are combined additively, irrespective of
  their read_backward value.
- EatsAtLeastPropagator::VisitText uses the successor's
eats_at_least_from_not_start value, which doesn't work properly for
read_backwards successors (which may end at the start).

A symptom of this bug was that we applied an incorrect EAL of 255
starting at the initial 'x' of /x(?<=^x{4})/); for subject strings
shorter than 255 chars, this would result in an incorrect failure
result.

232bf1ffe4 Clamp properly in the String.p.indexOf reduction
This fixes a bug introduced in crrev.com/c/2660995.
String.prototype.indexOf must clamp the `position` argument as per
step:

  7. Let start be the result of clamping pos between 0 and len.

Source: tc39.es/ecma262/#sec-string.prototype.indexof

Previously, this was done in the StringIndexOf builtin, but the recent
refactor changed builtin implementations to match the spec more
closely (i.e. to clamp in String.prototype.indexOf, not
StringIndexOf). This means we now have to clamp in
JSCallReducer::ReduceStringPrototypeIndexOf.

Moved the ConsString comparison logic out-of-line, both to make gcc
happy, and to reduce the size of the fast-path in IsEqualToImpl.

c9b4f3c4a7 [dict-proto] TF support for constants in dictionary mode protos, pt. 4
This CL is part of a series that implements Turbofan support for
property accesses satisfying the following conditions:
1. The holder is a dictionary mode object.
2. The holder is a prototype.
3. The access is a load.

This feature will only be enabled if the build flag
v8_dict_property_const_tracking is set.

This particular CL modifies existing mjsunit tests whose assumptions
don't hold if v8_dict_property_const_tracking is enabled. This is
done by adding special handling for the case that
%IsDictPropertyConstTrackingEnabled() holds.

ec81d82d16 Reland "[turbofan] Optimize TrapIf/Unless in BranchElim. and CommonOp-Reducer"
This is a reland of a3b1233e16

Changes compared to original commit:
- Use a more canonical way to replace TrapIf/Unless nodes that always
trap. This fixes the issue where their outputs were marked dead even
  if they were Merge/Loop nodes.
- Use Throw() over Return() to connect a dangling trap to End().
- Add regression test.

0ee6f90a5f [regalloc] Fix slot requirement for live ranges defined by a const
Live ranges defined by a constant operand normally don't require a spill
slot since they can just rematerialize the value from the constant. In
the attached issue however, deoptimization adds an explicit slot
requirement for a range that is defined by a constant operand. This case
is not expected in the register allocator and we eventually hit a
DCHECK.

This fix allocates a new stack slot during the MeetRegisterConstraints
and adds the missing gap move.

Drive-by: remove dead method LiveRange::NextSlotPosition.

Moving them into regress/asm, the status file automatically skips these
tests if WebAssembly is not enabled.

4c17394d67 Reland: [compiler] Cache StateValue processing in InstructionSelector.
Processing StateValues into operands is one of the most costly
parts of instruction selection. As it happens, StateValues are
shared by many nodes, and so we are unecessarily reprocessing
the same StateValues multiple times. This CL introduces caching
for the processed StateValues enabling very fast emitting of
operands for subsiquent instructions with the same StateValue.
The hitrate for the cache is higher than 90% on most optimizations.

The prototype map is in a 1:1 relation with the prototype.
In addition the prototype points to the constructor in most cases.

2e8443779d Reland "[compiler] Direct heap reads for JSArrayRef"
This is a reland of 76a2ab06a1

Changes since the original CL:
- Handle unserialized elements (optional result in getter).
- Merge should_access_heap and --turbo-direct-heap-access paths.
- Slightly update the serialized path in GetOwnCowElement.
- Fix the cctest, add a regression test.

Atomic JSObject::elements/JSArray::length setters are addressed
in this CL: crrev.com/c/2704076.

Original change's description:
> [compiler] Direct heap reads for JSArrayRef
>
> There are two aspects to the non-JSObject parts of JSArrayRef:
>
> - JSArrayRef::length. Relevant only in two spots, 1. when reading
> (immutable) array boilerplates and 2. for GetOwnCowElement.
>
> - JSArrayRef::GetOwnCowElement. May read into a copy-on-write backing
> store. Relies on the invariant that cow backing stores are immutable.
>
> This CL renames the length accessor to length_unsafe to make the
> danger explicit at callsites.
>
> For GetOwnCowElement the refactor is slightly larger, since we now
> need to read into the backing store while keeping full control of
> object reads (e.g. JSArray::length and JSArray::elements_kind). We
> make all reads explicit at the call site by requiring that elements,
> elements kind, and length are passed in as arguments to
> GetOwnCowElement. Inside GetOwnCowElement, consistency between these
> is *not* guaranteed due to concurrency. At runtime, consistency *is*
> guaranteed through the reference-equality check on the elements seen
> during compilation. The actual elements read is implemented in
> ConcurrentLookupIterator::GetOwnCowElement.

a3c8eebb08 [turboprop] Add intrinsics to tier up from Turboprop to TurboFan
Currently %OptimizeFunctionOnNextCall returns if there is the function
is already optimized. This cl changes this function to allow tiering up
till we reach top tier. That allows us to tier up from Turboprop to
Turbofan using intrinsics. This cl also introduces a runtime-test
function to check if turboprop-as-toptier or turboprop-as-midtier is
enabled.

51fcfd585c [regexp] Don't update last match info in @@split special case
V8 implements a fast-path for RegExp.prototype.split which diverges
from the spec: instead of creating a new sticky regexp instance
`splitter` and running it in a loop, we reuse the existing non-sticky
regexp without looping through each character.

This works fine in most cases, but we run into issues when matching at
the very end of the string. According to the spec, matches at the end
of the string are impossible in @@split, but in our fast-path
implementation they can happen.

The obvious fix would be to remove our fast-path but this comes with
high performance costs. The fix implemented in this CL adds a special
flag to `exec` s.t. matches at the end of the string can be treated as
failures. This is only relevant for @@split.

8efed0f9f1 Set is_awaiting on async generators after await's Promise machinery
The is_awaiting bit on async generators distinguishes waiting on an
await. When the async generator resumes from an await, the is_awaiting
bit is cleared.

It is possible through overriding Promise#constructor that `await`
throws *after* setting is_awaiting. There is an implicit try-catch
around the body of the async generator such that, usually, caught
exceptions would clear the is_awaiting bit. However, the exception
thrown from a monkeypatched Promise#constructor can be caught by script,
and thus never clear the is_awaiting bit.

This CL sets the is_awaiting bit *after* `await` completes, with the
exception of the return resumption. It is not possible to have the
exception thrown by the await in the return resumption be caught by
script.

b9a59e3892 [turboprop] Don't consider stores to constant fields as mutable
Turboprop doesn't use optimizations based on field constness to reduce
the number of deoptimizations. While this is safe for loads, for stores
if a different value is stored to a const field we should update the
constness of the field. This is needed so we can safely deopt any other
code that is relying on the constness of the field. Currently, turboprop
doesn't do this. So for now treat stores to constant fields similar to
TurboFan. In future, we may consider adding code to update the field
constness if necessary to reduce the number of deoptimizations.

831fa62b97 [compiler] Re-reland "Faster JS-to-Wasm calls"
This is a reland of 6ada6a90ee

- Fixed a GC issue
  https://bugs.chromium.org/p/v8/issues/detail?id=11335:
GC expected all arguments on the stack from code with
CodeKind::TURBOFAN to be tagged objects. This is not the case now with
inlined Wasm calls, and this information can be passed in
  SafepointEntry for each call site.

- Disabled JS-to-Wasm inlining for calls inside try/catch.

a12e9329fd [wasm][eh] Fix catch_all encoding
In the latest spec, catch_all is encoded as 0x05. This is the same
opcode as "else", but they do not conflict because "else" is not valid
in the context of a try block.

The 0x0a opcode now corresponds to the "unwind" instruction, which
currently has the same semantics as "catch_all".

31d2bb8670 Reland2 [super] Store home object in Context instead of JSFunction
Fix 1: Track Scope::needs_home_object and Scope::uses_super_property
accurately. When "eval" is seen, figure out whether it can access

Fix 2: The object literal scope shouldn't be entered for things

Previous reland: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/2637220

This saves memory (the home object doesn't need to be stored for each
method, but only once per class) and hopefully makes the home object
a constant in the optimized code.

f6450b97ec Reland [super] Store home object in Context instead of JSFunction
1) Computed property keys (esp functions in them) shouldn't be inside
the object literal scope.

2) I was using an imprecise "maybe uses super" and storing it to
preparse data. This won't fly, since it pollutes sister scopes and
leads to confusion wrt whether an object literal needs a home object
or not. Made it precise (mostly cancelling changes in the original CL).

3) PreParser::NewSuperPropertyReference was creating a VariableProxy for
this_function (which made it used) -> inconsistent scopes between
parsing and preparsing.

4) MultipleEntryBlockContextScope was messing up the accumulator

Original: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/2563275

This saves memory (the home object doesn't need to be stored for each
method, but only once per class) and hopefully makes the home object
a constant in the optimized code.

8703c38d9a [compiler] Emit a function-entry stack check on OSR-entry
This CL extends the smarter function-entry stack check logic (see
v8:9534) to OSR'd code. These smarter stack checks prevent
overflowing the stack during deoptimization.

The challenge for both function-entry (FE) and OSR-entry (OE) stack
checks is that there is no dedicated physical StackCheck to
deoptimize into. For more context: the physical StackCheck bytecode
was removed in crrev.com/c/1914218.

FE stack checks solve this by using a marker bailout id to signify
a deopt bytecode offset before the first bytecode.

In this CL, OE stack checks take a similar approach by using the
OSR'd loop's JumpLoop bytecode, which is conceptually immediately
before the OSR'd loop header.

When a stack overflow at an OE stack check occurs: %StackGuard
may cause a lazy deopt on return to the optimized OSR code,
causing re-execution of the JumpLoop handler in the
InterpreterEnterBytecodeAdvance builtin, ultimately continuing
execution the interpreter at the first bytecode of the OSR'd loop
header.

0ef84f9930 [compiler] Use StateValuesAccess to access frame state parameters
FrameState parameters must not be iterated directly since parameters
can be encoded into StateValues (i.e. parameter i is not necessarily
InputAt(i)). Instead, they should be accessed through the
StateValuesAccess helper class.

One example:

 82: StateValues[sparse:^^^^^^](81, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35)
  81: StateValues[sparse:^^^^^^^^](110, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)
  31: NumberConstant[8]
  32: NumberConstant[9]
  33: NumberConstant[10]
  34: NumberConstant[11]
  35: NumberConstant[13]

Here, node 81 holds multiple parameters. These are properly iterated
by the StateValuesAccess class.

48ead1a858 [wasm][liftoff] Delay use counter decrement of PeekToRegister
This CL fixes a bug in the code generation for I32AtomicCompareExchange
in Liftoff on ia32. The problem is the inconsistency that
LiftoffAssembler::PeekToRegister(...) introduces to the cache state.
PeekToRegister loads the value from the value stack into a register, but
does not pop the value off the stack. When the value was already stored
in a register, the use counter of that register gets decreased, even
though the value is still on the stack.

The problem arises when this register later gets reused, which is
necessary unfortunately on ia32. When SpillRegister is called for this
register, all stack values that are stored in this register get written
to memory. SpillRegister uses the use counter of the register to detect
when the register was spilled to all stack slots that were cached by
this register. However, as described above, the value stack and the use
counter are inconsistent at that moment, so SpillRegister finishes
early and does not spill the register to all stack values, and this
causes the bug later.

With this CL the decrement of the use counter gets delayed until when
the value actually gets popped off the stack.

85b1d24b3f Evict deoptimized code on feedback vector after creating the closure
When creating a new closure, we check feedback vector for any optimized
code and install it on the newly created closure. We evict the optimized
code from the feedback vector if it is marked for deoptimization. We
used to evict the code before creating the new closure. However,
creating a new closure could cause allocation failures and hence trigger
a GC. This could mark optimized code on feedback vector for
deoptimization if any weak objects held by optimized code are GC'ed.

This cl delays the eviction unitl after the closure was created.

8c698702ce [wasm-simd] Fix loading fp pair registers
We were incorrectly clearing the high reg from the list of regs to load.
The intention was to prevent double (and incorrect) loading - loading
128 bits from the low fp and the loading 128 bits from the high fp.
But this violates the assumption that the two regs in a pair would be
set or unset at the same time.

The fix here is to introduce a new enum for register loads, a nop, which
does nothing. The high fp of the fp pair will be tied to this nop, so as
we iterate down the reglist, we load 128 bits using the low fp, then
don't load anything for the high fp.

db5ede7ff8 Fix rare stack overflow in instanceof
For a very particular special case (long "chains" of bound

89ca48c907 [wasm][liftoff] Fix register usage for i64_addi
The arm implementation made the assumption that the {lhs} and {dst}
registers are either the same, or there is no overlap. This assumption
does not hold.
ia32 on the other hand has a lot of complicated logic (and unnecessary
code generation) for different cases of overlap.

This CL fixes the arm issue *and* simplifies the ia32 logic by making
the arm assumption hold, and using it to eliminate special handling on
ia32.

59a629b58a [arm] Correctly push and pop double registers on deopt entry
The number of available double registers depends on supported CPU
features on arm. Any code that applies to all double regs must be
extra-careful to correctly handle either 16 or 32 registers.

This was not the case for deopt entries, which were recently moved
from a runtime-generated code stub to a mksnapshot-time-generated
builtin.

This CL fixes the issue by inspecting the runtime value of cpu
features and acting on it.

LO space.

This reduces the runtime of this test under slow_path and gc-stress from

545e9dc58e [Turboprop] Only enable dynamic map checks for TurboProp.
The dynamic map check builtin loads the feedback vector from the

it was possible to enable dynamic map checks on TurboFan which does.

This change prevents that, and also makes the dynamic map checks flag
specific to TurboProp and no longer an implication, which also allos
it to be switched on the command line independenly of --turboprop.

7506e063d0 [codegen] Skip invalid optimization in tail calls
Preparing for tail call is usually done by emitting the gap moves and
then moving the stack pointer to its new position. An optimization
consists in moving the stack pointer first and transforming some of the
moves into pushes. In the attached case it looks like this (arm):

138 add sp, sp, #40
13c str r6, [sp, #-4]!
140 str r6, [sp, #-4]!
144 str r6, [sp, #-4]!
148 str r6, [sp, #-4]!
14c str r6, [sp, #-4]!
...
160 vldr d1, [sp - 4*3]

The last line is a gap reload, but because the stack pointer was already
moved, the slot is now below the stack pointer. This is invalid and
triggers this DCHECK:

Fatal error in ../../v8/src/codegen/arm/assembler-arm.cc, line 402
Debug check failed: 0 <= offset (0 vs. -12).

A comment already explains that we skip the optimization if the gap
contains stack moves to prevent this, but the code only checks for
non-FP slots. This is fixed by replacing "source.IsStackSlot()" with
"source.IsAnyStackSlot()":

108 vldr d1, [sp + 4*2]
...
118 str r0, [sp, #+36]
11c str r0, [sp, #+32]
120 str r0, [sp, #+28]
124 str r0, [sp, #+24]
128 str r0, [sp, #+20]
...
134 add sp, sp, #20

56b55f3fbf Revert "[TurboProp] Avoid marking the output of a call live in its catch handler"
This reverts commit cdc8d9a5ec.

Reason for revert: The regression test is too slow:
https://ci.chromium.org/p/v8/builders/ci/V8%20Linux%20-%20gc%20stress/30454

Also gcc failures:
https://ci.chromium.org/p/v8/builders/ci/V8%20Linux64%20gcc%20-%20debug/9528

Original change's description:

>
> The output of a call won't be live if an exception is thrown while the
> call is on the stack and we unwind to a catch handler.

a769ea7a44 [parser] Fix AST func reindexing for function fields
AST reindexing has to skip visiting fields that are already in the
member initializer, as they will have already been visited when
visiting said initializer. This is the case for private fields and
fields with computed names.

However, the reindexer was incorrectly assuming that all properties
with a FunctionLiteral value are methods (and thus not fields, and
can safely be visited). This is not the case for fields with
function expression values.

Now, we correctly use the class property's "kind" when making this
visitation decision.

9c55b1d69d Fix Array.p.pop() for read-only length 0
Array.prototype.pop() must throw a TypeError whenever the array's
length is readonly; there is no exception to that when the length
is 0. This patch moves the length==0 special case after the read-
only length check in both fast paths (CSA and C++).

98e2796555 [wasm-simd] Protected load transforms are not eliminatable
LoadTransform operators contain a LoadKind, which can be unaligned,
protected, poisoned, normal.

If it is protected, we cannot eliminiate that load,
since we rely on the segv signal handling. So, we use partial template
specialization on LoadKind::kProtected, and don't set the operator to
not be eliminatable.
