07dc66dcd5 Represent implicit 'this' binding by 'super' in AST.
This makes the implicit initializing assignment to 'this' performed
after a super constructor call explicit in the AST. It removes the
need to handle the special case where a CallExpression behaves like a
AssignmentExpression from various AstVisitor implementations.

24e982816f Fix spread array inside array literal
During parsing, we now keep track of the first spread seen in an array
literal (if any), and make use of that information when creating the
FixedArray backing store representing the constant elements for array
literal materialization.

The old code tried to do this by setting the generated JSArray's length
in ArrayLiteral::BuildConstantElements(), but that Array length is never
read by the rest of the literal materialization code (it always uses
the length of the FixedArray backing store).

62572e011e [es6] Ensure that for-in/of loops have a proper TDZ for their lexically-bound variables
The enumerable expression in a for-in/of loop is supposed to have a TDZ for any
lexically bound names in that loop (there can be more than one with destructuring).

This patch accomplishes this with an almost-correct desugaring. The only thing missing
is proper debugger support (the let declarations added by the desugaring, while invisible
to code due to shadowing, are visible to the debugger).

b23c328f53 In Array.of and Array.from, fall back to DefineOwnProperty
%AddElement is not intended for objects which are not arrays, and
its behavior may go away with future refactorings. This patch gets
rid of it if the receiver of from or of is not the intrinsic Array
object.

Array.of and Array.from previously papered over failures in calling
[[DefineOwnProperty]] when setting array elements. This patch
makes them lead to exceptions, and adds tests to assert that
the appropriate exceptions are thrown.

51df8df9be Implement %TypedArray%.prototype.slice
The initial implementation of this method takes a couple shortcuts:
- At some points in the spec, we should be making a reference to
"Table 49" and instead do property lookup on the constructor.
This is an issue with some other TypedArray methods too.
- The spec indicates that, if constructor and @@species haven't been
messed with in particular ways, then there should be a memcpy
from the old to the new. That fast path is not implemented here
in this patch, but because V8 doesn't canonicalize NaN, the result
  isn't observably different.

e59e40a354 Implement Atomics API
This is behind the flag "--harmony-atomics", and it only works on
SharedArrayBuffers. This implementation only includes the runtime functions.
The TurboFan implementation will be next.

The draft spec for Atomics can be found here:

68beef53c3 Fix arrow functions requiring context without slots.
This fixes a corner-case where arrow functions that require a context
allocate none, because there are no additional slots allocated. Note
that this didn't happen with true function scopes because they always
had at least the receiver slot.

The outcome was a context chain that no longer was in sync with the
scope chain, hence context slot loads were bogus. This is observable
using the DYNAMIC_LOCAL optimization in all compilers.

Currently there is no difference in functionality between a SharedArrayBuffer

7ffdb5194d [destructuring] Grand for statement parsing unification.
Also support patterns in ``for (var p in/of ...)``

This CL extends the rewriting we used to do for ``for (let p in/of...)`` to
``for (var p in/of ...)``. For all for..in/of loop declaring variable,
we rewrite
   for (var/let/const pattern in/of e) b
into
   for (x' in/of e) { var/let/const pattern = e; b }

This adds a small complication for debugger: for a statement
   for (var v in/of e) ...
we used to have
   var v;
   for (v in/of e) ...
and there was a separate breakpoint on ``var v`` line.
This breakpoint is actually useless since it is immediately followed by
a breakpoint on evaluation of ``e``, so this CL removes that breakpoint
location.

Similiraly, for let, it used to be that
  for (let v in/of e) ...
became
  for (x' in/of e) { let v; v  = x'; ... }
``let v``generetaed a useless breakpoint (with the location at the
loop's head. This CL removes that breakpoint as well.

cc3f59db55 Add TypedArray.from method
This function creates a new way to make TypedArrays based on existing
iterable or Array-like objects, analogous to Array.from. The patch

1ebbaaa036 Factor out core of Array.forEach and .every, for use in TypedArrays
The idea is to make this the model for future TypedArray methods.
A possible downside could be lower array method performance
if everything gets polymorhpic (but if enough inlining happens, it
should still be fast), but on the upside, this change means that
the TypedArray methods won't create as much code size bloat.

d4a314f9dc [es6] Object.getPrototypeOf should work with values
This reverts commit 992751d0dc.

The final spec for Object.getPrototypeOf calls ToObject on the

Difference from last time: Updated .status and will disable Blink

8d946b9c3f [es6] Throw TypeError for computed static prototype property name
The prototype of a class constructor function is read only. When we set
computed property names we were ignoring this and we were overriding the
property.

Since the prototype is the only possible own read only property on the
constructor function object we special case this so we do not have to
check this for every property in the class literal.

aeb3a71740 Begin modernization of --harmony-modules
The approach taken in this CL is to incrementally move toward the
currently-specced version of modules in ES6. The biggest change in this
patch is separating the parsing of modules from the parsing of scripts,
getting rid of the 'module' keyword and thus disallowing modules-in-scripts
as well as modules-in-modules.

The syntax supported by import/export declarations has not yet been significantly
changed, with the major exception being that import declarations require a string
as the 'from' part.

Most of the existing tests have been disabled, with a first new test added
in cctest/test-parsing.

6ac4de87a8 harmony-scoping: make assignment to 'const' a late error.
Per TC39 Nov 2014 decision.

This patch also changes behavior for "legacy const": assignments to sloppy const in strict mode is now also a type error. This fixes v8:2243 and also brings us in compliance with other engines re assignment to function names (see updated webkit test), but might have bigger implications.
That change can easily be reverted by changing Variable::IsSignallingAssignmentToConst.

aa6815c79a Classes: Add support for arguments in default constructor
This is currently done by generating a default constructor that looks
like this:

  constructor() {
    %DefaultConstructorSuperCall();
  }

The a runtime function implements the logic which is pretty similar to
Runtime_Apply except that it uses the [[Prototype]] of the current
function.

This is the second try. The first failed because the test was using a
array that was too large for Function.prototype.apply.

Revert "Revert "Classes: Add support for arguments in default constructor""

This reverts commit 43aa7e541df56a132608b8b4217e9da84575e4f8.

37bd114925 Update ObjectToString to Harmony-draft algorithm
Updates Object.prototype.toString() to use algorithm described in harmony drafts.

Currently, the behaviour is essentially the same as ES262's version, however this changes when internal structures
such as Promise make use of symbolToStringTag (as they are supposed to, see v8:3241), and changes further once
Symbol.toStringTag is exposed publicly.

cc960f8034 Revert "RegExp: Add support for the ES6-proposed sticky flag"
Causes a flaky failure on buildbots. Here is the (deterministic) repro step (thanks to Michael Stanton):

first go to flag-definitions.h and set this to false.

DEFINE_BOOL(enable_sse4_1, false,
"enable use of SSE4.1 instructions if available")

Run the following and it should fail:

71fbe7d4ec Ensure that JSProxy::Fix gives the generated JSObject map a constructor
All JSObjects in V8 either have a map()->constructor() field or are
JSFunctions. JSProxy::Fix, however, was not enforcing this, and
Object.observe's use of JSObject::GetCreationContext() exposed this.

Note that this is not Object.observe-specific: the API call
v8::Object::CreationContext() also would have revealed this bug.

This patch chooses Object as a reasonable constructor to put on the
newly-fixed object's map. Note that this has no effect on the "constructor"
property in JS. In doing so, I've also tightened up the code underlying
JSProxy::Fix to only support JSObject and JSFunction as possible output
types.

ab3afc5722 Reland "Prevent liveedit on or under generators with open activations"
The change relative to the previous CL is a logic change in
DropActivationsInActiveThreadImpl. The previous CL skipped the matcher
unless the frame was a JS frame; this was correct for
MultipleFunctionTarget but not for SingleFrameTarget.

I have not been able to reproduce the original failures on either
architecture (ia32 or x64; stack frame dropping is unsupported on other
architectures).

70c3a714a1 ES6 Map/Set iterators/forEach improvements
This changes how Map/Set interacts with its iterators. When the
underlying table is rehashed or cleared, we create a new table (like
before) but we add a reference from the old table to the new table. We
also add an array describing how to transition the iterator from the
old table to the new table.

When Next is called on the iterator it checks if there is a newer table
that it should transition to. If there is, it updates the index based
on the previously recorded changes and finally changes itself to point
at the new table.

With these changes Map/Set no longer keeps the iterators alive. Also,
as before, the iterators keep the underlying table(s) alive but not the
actual Map/Set.

3308cb5857 ES6: Add support for Map/Set forEach
This implements MapIterator and SetIterator which matches
the same constructs in the ES6 spec. However, these 2
iterators are not exposed to user code yet. They are only
used internally to implement Map.prototype.forEach and
Set.prototype.forEach.

Each iterator has a reference to the OrderedHashTable where
it directly accesses the hash table's entries.

The OrderedHashTable has a reference to the newest iterator
and each iterator has a reference to the next and previous
iterator, effectively creating a double linked list.

When the OrderedHashTable is mutated (or replaced) all the
iterators are updated.

When the iterator iterates passed the end of the data table
it closes itself. Closed iterators no longer have a
reference to the OrderedHashTable and they are removed from
the double linked list. In the case of Map/Set forEach, we
manually call Close on the iterator in case an exception was
thrown so that the iterator never reached the end.

At this point the OrderedHashTable keeps all the non finished
iterators alive but since the only thing we currently expose
is forEach there are no unfinished iterators outside a forEach
call. Once we expose the iterators to user code we will need
to make the references from the OrderedHashTable to the
iterators weak and have some mechanism to close an iterator
when it is garbage collected.

f66af4feb4 Refactor optimized in hydrogen only runtime functions.
This splits all runtime function into 3 categories:
1) RUNTIME: implemented in runtime and called from both full and optimized code.
2) RUNTIME_HIDDEN: implemented in runtime, never called directly from JS builtins.
3) INLINE: inlined in both full and optimized code
4) INLINE_OPTIMIZED: inlined in optimized code, implemented in runtime for full code.

0d34254f8d Upgrade Symbol implementation to match current ES6 behavior.
Refresh the implementation of Symbols to catch up with what the
specification now mandates:

* The global Symbol() function manufactures new Symbol values,
optionally with a string description attached.

* Invoking Symbol() as a constructor will now throw.

* ToString() over Symbol values still throws, and
  Object.prototype.toString() stringifies like before.

* A Symbol value is wrapped in a Symbol object either implicitly if
it is the receiver, or explicitly done via Object(symbolValue) or
  (new Object(symbolValue).)

* The Symbol.prototype.toString() method no longer throws on Symbol
wrapper objects (nor Symbol values.) Ditto for Symbol.prototype.valueOf().

* Symbol.prototype.toString() stringifies as "Symbol("<description>"),
valueOf() returns the wrapper's Symbol value.

* ToPrimitive() over Symbol wrapper objects now throws.

Overall, this provides a stricter separation between Symbol values and
wrapper objects than before, and the explicit fetching out of the
description (nee name) via the "name" property is no longer supported
(by the spec nor the implementation.)

Adjusted existing Symbol test files to fit current, adding some extra
tests for new/changed behavior.

6b5a4cdef2 V8 Microtask Queue & API
This patch generalizes Object.observe callbacks and promise resolution into a FIFO queue called a "microtask queue".

It also exposes new V8 API which exposes the microtask queue to the embedder. In particular, it allows the embedder to

-schedule a microtask (EnqueueExternalMicrotask)
-run the microtask queue (RunMicrotasks)
-control whether the microtask queue is run automatically within V8 when the last script exits (SetAutorunMicrotasks).

7317b71f02 Make Function.length and Function.name configurable properties.
ES6 makes the Function object properties "length" and "name"
configurable; switch the implementation over to follow that.

Doing so exposed a problem in the handling of non-writable, but
configurable properties backed by foreign callback accessors
internally. As an optimization, if such an accessor property is
re-defined with a new value, its setter was passed the new value
directly, keeping the property as an accessor property. However, this
is not correct should the property be non-writable, as its setter will
then simply ignore the updated value. Adjust the enabling logic for
this optimization accordingly, along with adding a test.

4d338985b9 Closed generator returns a completed object instead of throwing a error
From ES6 rev20 draft, closed generator returns completed object (the
value is `undefined` and done is `true`).
Since a error thrown in generator is propagated to the caller without
setting status of a thrown generator to "completed", once a generator is

e943623b12 Harmony promises
Based on prototype at

  https://github.com/rossberg-chromium/js-promise

which informed the latest spec draft version at

  https://github.com/domenic/promises-unwrapping/blob/master/README.md

Activated by --harmony-promises.

Feature complete with respect to the draft spec, plus the addition of .when and .deferred methods. Final naming and other possible deviations from the current draft will hopefully be resolved soon after the next TC39 meeting.

This CL also generalises the Object.observe delivery loop into a simplistic microtask loop. Currently, all observer events are delivered before invoking any promise handler in a single fixpoint iteration. It's not clear yet what the final semantics is supposed to be (should there be a global event ordering?), but it will probably require a more thorough event loop abstraction inside V8 once we get there.

went away:

cec8383cff Provide private symbols through internal APIs
Adds a notion of private symbols, mainly intended for internal use, especially, self-hosting of built-in types that would otherwise require new C++ classes.

On the JS side (i.e., in built-ins), private properties can be created and accessed through a set of macros:

  NEW_PRIVATE(print_name)
  HAS_PRIVATE(obj, sym)
  GET_PRIVATE(obj, sym)
  SET_PRIVATE(obj, sym, val)
  DELETE_PRIVATE(obj, sym)

In the V8 API, they are accessible via a new class Private, and respective HasPrivate/Get/Private/SetPrivate/DeletePrivate methods on calss Object.

These APIs are designed and restricted such that their implementation can later be replaced by whatever ES7+ will officially provide.

92bd4d1f2d I found this working on
https://codereview.chromium.org/19541010/

The main problem is that if you called Object.getNotifier(obj) on an object, %SetObserved(object) would never get called on it, and thus it would be unobservable (new test added for this).

Additionally, Runtime::SetObserved was asserting obj->IsJSObject() which would fail if called on a proxy.

It just happens that our existing test always called getNotifier() before Object.observe on proxies, and thus we never previously attempted to transition the map of a proxy.

Both issues are now fixed and properly tested.
