embedder pass it in explicitly.

This CL changes SharedFunctionInfo::GetBytecodeArray to a function
template, which is specialized for Isolate and LocalIsolate arguments.
This allows main thread only uses to avoid taking a lock.

Scopes in V8 are used to guarantee one or more properties during its
lifetimes. If a scope is not named e.g MyClassScope(args) instead of
MyClassScope scope(args) it will get created and automatically destroyed
and therefore, being useless as a scope. This CL would produce a
compiling warning when that happens to ward off this developer error.
Follow-up to ccrev.com/2552415 in which it was introduced and
implemented for Guard classes.

Because of LocalHeap safepoints, our existing assert scopes don't
necessarily maintain the same guarantees as desired. In particular,
DisallowHeapAllocation no longer guarantees that objects don't move.
This patch transitions DisallowHeapAllocation to
DisallowGarbageCollection, to ensure that code using this scope is
also protected against safepoints.

This relands commit 3f4e9bbe43.
which was a reland of c4a062a958
which was a reland of 28a30c578c
which was a reland of 5d7a29c90e
The change had an issue that embedders implementing heap tracing (e.g.
Unified Heap with Blink) could be passed an uninitialized pointer if
marking happened during deserialization of an object containing such a
pointer. Because of the 0xdeadbed0 uninitialized filler value, these
embedders would then receive the value 0xdeadbed0deadbed0 as the
'pointer', and crash on dereference.
There is, however, special handling already for null pointers in heap
tracing, also for dealing with not-yet initialized values. So, we can
make the uninitialized Smi filler be 0x00000000, and that will make such
embedded fields have a nullptr representation, making them follow the
normal uninitialized value bailouts.
In addition, it relands the following dependent changes, which are
relanding unchanged and are followup performance improvements.
Relanding them in the same change should allow for cleaner reverts
should they be needed.

This is a reland of 5d7a29c90e
This reland shuffles around the order of checks in Heap::AllocateRawWith
to not check the new space addresses until it's known that this is a new
space allocation. This fixes an UBSan failure during read-only space
deserialization, which happens before the new space is initialized.
It also fixes some issues discovered by --stress-snapshot, around
serializing ThinStrings (which are now elided as part of serialization),
handle counts (I bumped the maximum handle count in that check), and
clearing map transitions (the map backpointer field needed a Smi
uninitialized value check).

This patch removes the concept of reservations and a specialized
deserializer allocator, and instead makes the deserializer allocate
directly with the Heap's Allocate method.
The major consequence of this is that the GC can now run during
deserialization, which means that:
a) Deserialized objects are visible to the GC, and
b) Objects that the deserializer/deserialized objects point to can
move.
Point a) is mostly not a problem due to previous work in making
deserialized objects "GC valid", i.e. making sure that they have a valid
size before any subsequent allocation/safepoint. We now additionally
have to initialize the allocated space with a valid tagged value -- this
is a magic Smi value to keep "uninitialized" checks simple.
Point b) is solved by Handlifying the deserializer. This involves
changing any vectors of objects into vectors of Handles, and any object
keyed map into an IdentityMap (we can't use Handles as keys because
the object's address is no longer a stable hash).
Back-references can no longer be direct chunk offsets, so instead the
deserializer stores a Handle to each deserialized object, and the
backreference is an index into this handle array. This encoding could
be optimized in the future with e.g. a second pass over the serialized
array which emits a different bytecode for objects that are and aren't
back-referenced.
Additionally, the slot-walk over objects to initialize them can no
longer use absolute slot offsets, as again an object may move and its
slot address would become invalid. Now, slots are walked as relative
offsets to a Handle to the object, or as absolute slots for the case of
root pointers. A concept of "slot accessor" is introduced to share the
code between these two modes, and writing the slot (including write
barriers) is abstracted into this accessor.
Finally, the Code body walk is modified to deserialize all objects
referred to by RelocInfos before doing the RelocInfo walk itself. This
is because RelocInfoIterator uses raw pointers, so we cannot allocate
during a RelocInfo walk.
As a drive-by, the VariableRawData bytecode is tweaked to use tagged
size rather than byte size -- the size is expected to be tagged-aligned
anyway, so now we get an extra few bits in the size encoding.

This change moves external pointers into a separate table and turns
external pointers in heap objects into indices into that table.
This CL implements one of two possible ownership models for the table
entries. With this one, every heap object owns its table entries, and
they are allocated when the owning object is allocated. As such, setting
external pointer fields does not require allocation of table entries. On
the other hand, table indices cannot be shared between multiple objects.
This CL does not yet implement freeing of external pointer table
entires. This will later happen by a table garbage collector.

Added scopes to diallow/allow GCs from happening using a DCHECK. It is
stricter than DisallowHeapAllocation, since this also doesn't allow
safepoints.
As soon as Turbofan is ready, we can replace all usages of
DisallowHeapAllocation with DisallowGarbageCollection.

Since the string-table's data pointer is written inside a mutex, but
read outside of it, we need to acq/rel access to it.
There's no support in C++ for an std::atomic<std::unique_ptr>, so this
patch changes the std::unique_ptr<Data> into a std::atomic<Data*>, and
handles the deletion manually. StringTable::Data still uses
std::unique_ptr as the general pointer-passing contract, we just
carefully set and release the unique_ptrs when accessing and setting
the StringTable's atomic Data pointer.

With the new Turbofan variants (NCI and Turboprop), we need a way to
distinguish between them both during and after compilation. We
initially introduced CompilationTarget to track the variant during
compilation, but decided to reuse the code kind as the canonical spot to
store this information instead.
Why? Because it is an established mechanism, already available in most
of the necessary spots (inside the pipeline, on Code objects, in
profiling traces).
This CL removes CompilationTarget and adds a new
NATIVE_CONTEXT_INDEPENDENT kind, plus helper functions to determine
various things about a given code kind (e.g.: does this code kind
deopt?).
As a (very large) drive-by, refactor both Code::Kind and
AbstractCode::Kind into a new CodeKind enum class.

When RO_SPACE is to be shared, this constructs SharedReadOnlySpace
object (via ReadOnlySpace::DetachPagesAndAddToArtifacts) that contains
the shared artifacts and the original ReadOnlySpace is destroyed. This
is mostly a conceptual change and SharedReadOnlySpace behaves
identically to ReadOnlySpace (and subclasses it).
Also adds ReadOnlyArtifacts that contains the shared artifacts and which
is stored as a std::weak_ptr in a global so it can be destroyed when all
std::shared_ptrs to it are destroyed. Since this allows the ReadOnlyHeap
to be reconstructed when all Isolates are destroyed,
ReadOnlyHeap::ClearSharedHeapForTest is removed along with all uses
since that is now done automatically.
The ReadOnlyArtifacts class now owns all the shared artifacts and is
responsible for deleting them on exit (mostly via unique_ptr).

To avoid a gap in the file history due to renaming both the files and

{StaticCharVector}, according to its name, should return a
{Vector<const char>}. For getting a {Vector<const uint8_t>}, the method
should be called {StaticOneByteVector}, analog to the
{OneByteVector} methods that already exist.
Also, {StaticCharVector} is constexpr, but {StaticOneByteVector} cannot
be, since it contains a {reinterpret_cast}. The same holds for
{Vector::cast} in general.
This CL
- changes the return type of {StaticCharVector} to be
{Vector<const char>},
- introduces a new {StaticOneByteVector} which returns
{Vector<const uint8_t>},
- fixes constexpr annotations at various methods returning {Vector}s,
- refactors users of {StaticCharVector} to either use
{StaticOneByteVector} instead, or work on {char} if that makes more
sense.

Code object iteration was missing logic for RELATIVE_CODE_TARGET
reloc entries. Garbage collection could thus miss objects that were
referenced only as targets of pc-relative calls or jumps.
RELATIVE_CODE_TARGETs are only used on arm, mips, and s390 and only
at mksnapshot-time.
This exposed another issue in that the interpreter entry trampoline
copy we generate for profiling *did* contain relative calls in
runtime-accessible code. This is a problem, since code space on arm is,
by default, too large to be fully addressable through pc-relative
calls. This CL thus also disables the related

Individual frames of a stack frame in the frame cache might point

serialize JSFunction objects in the isolate snapshot, so the attempt
to serialize the stack frame cache results in a crash. This can happen
when a warmup script is run, before a snapshot is created.

The natives blob was deprecated in V8 7.8. This CL removes all related
functionality, including:
- Build system support, i.e.: generation of natives_blob.bin and the
v8_extra_library_files gn flag.
- Related scripts (js2c.py, concatenate-files.py).
- Related API functions (SetNativesDataBlob,
InitializeExternalStartupData).
- Natives bootstrapping logic.
- The InternalArray type (previously exposed through natives).
- Other natives-exposed builtins.
- Inlining of these builtins.
- The dedicated 'uncached external one byte string' type.
Step 1 landed in https://crrev.com/c/1824944.
Step 2 landed in https://crrev.com/c/1835536.
Step 3 (this CL) removes these all functionality related to natives
support in V8.

Disabling the RegExp compilation cache comes with performance implications,
and it doesn't seem to be necessary for debugging.

Since we switched to C++14 now, we can use {std::make_unique} instead
of our own {base::make_unique} from {template-utils.h}.

When deserializing from a code snapshot with logging enabled (e.g. when
profiling) then this ensures source positions are collected before
creating code events that need them.

We assume that during bootstrapping, we won't create script contexts.
This is wrong, since JavaScript code in extensions may introduce
let/const variables.
