b7b2fd4cec Implement a hash based look-up to speed up containing address check in large 
object space. Before, it was a link-list based look-up, and make this function
a little bit 'hot' from profile point.

fbc230e42b Ensure that executable pages are properly guarded. 
Split executable memory chunks into two pieces: header with all metadata (protection: RW) and body (protection: RWX). Separate header from metadata with a guard page and add a guard page after the page body.

f3045d3802 Fix corner-case in heap size estimation. 
Empty but unswept pages could cause the unswept_free_bytes counter to
to be off in case heap gets shrunk and page gets released before it was
swept properly.

83d912f0e4 Make heap size estimation more accurate. 
This improves the heap size estimation by not counting lazy swept pages

e2f2c77e6f Be more willing to expand old space when evacuating new space at the end of 
a mark-sweep.  We have a soft limit on old space size, which is designed to
trigger an old-space collection when we hit it.  Unfortunately although the
soft limit had already triggered an old space collection, the soft limit was
preventing objects from new space from being promoted.  For every promotion
candidate we were checking 3 different ways to allocate in old space before
giving up and putting the object in the other semispace.  This change allows
the promoted objects to go to old space and also makes us more eager to
sweep a page before trying other ways to find space for an object.

b8dc77ab9a Fix Heap::Shrink to ensure that it does not free pages that are still in use. 
Heap::Shrink is called from EnsureFromSpaceIsCommitted at the very start of the GC. At this moment live bytes counts on pages are in inconsistent states. Some pages might have been already swept but have not been yet reached by an incremental marker (or incremental marker is not in progress) and have live bytes count set to 0. Thus we can't rely only on LiveBytes to determine which pages can be released to the OS.

554a12fbbc Fix free list node ending up on evacuation candidate. 
This is a temporary fix which avoids compaction when incremental marking
is restarted during an old-space-step. That could turn the page that
holds the chosen free list node into an evacuation candidate. It could
also cause several other inconsistencies if it happens during scavenge.

279356b4b3 Implement shrinking of paged spaces during sweeping. 
For each paged space we release all but one of the unused pages after
marking (when we know the number of live bytes) but before actually
sweeping it. This is not yet done for lazy swept pages.

bfd048173f Notify collector about lazily deoptimized code objects. 
All slots that were recorded on these objects during incremental marking should be ignored as they are no longer valid.

To filter such invalidated slots out during slots buffers iteration we set all markbits under the invalidated code object to 1 after the code space was swept and before slots buffers are processed.

3fabe323f2 Add kHeaderSize constant to SeqString. 
This prevents potential misuse of SeqString::kHeaderSize as in the
case of live byte counting in incremental marking stub. All stubs
picked up the undefined size constant SeqString::kHeaderSize, thus
the computed size of all strings was off by two pointers slots.

610281f4ee Fix calculation of live-bytes in pages. 
The "live bytes" count is *really* a "marked black" count - i.e., the count of bytes *known* to be live.

Fix aggravating bug on X64 where assembler code used a value that was off
by a factor of 2^31.

Ensure that sweeping clears live-bytes. Added other missing increments.

Added print statements to trace live-byte modifications, under a flag.

Still a few cases of undercounting left.

a5001de29c Centralize code for freeing LargeObjectChunks, fixing an uncommit bug. 
Due to heavy copy-n-paste, the handling of guard pages was inconsistent and we
didn't uncommit exactly the region we previously committed. Furthermore, the LOG
calls weren't consistent, either.

a546e4a8dd Fixed bool <-> Executability confusion and improved typing a bit. 
Passing a value of type Executability to a function expecting a bool worked only
by accident (because of the order of values in the enum). But using boolean
parameters is often a bad idea, anyway, so we use Executability directly.

Just another example why implicit type conversions in C++ are a bad idea... :-P

f7138b1427 Implement a type recording ToBoolean IC. 
The IC records the set of types it has seen, e.g. {String} or {Boolean,
Undefined}, etc.  Note that in theory this could lead to a large number of
different ToBoolean ICs (512, to be exact, because we distinguish 9 types),
but in practice only a small handful of them are actually generated.

Currently the type recording part is only implemented on ia32, other platforms
continue to work like they did before, though.

Removed some dead code on the way.

8a6108de95 Remove the ability to compile without logging and profiling 
The preprocessor defines ENABLE_LOGGING_AND_PROFILING and ENABLE_VMSTATE_TRACKING has been removed as these where required to be turned on for Crankshaft to work. To re-enable reducing the binary size by leaving out heap and CPU profiler a new set of defines needs to be created.

Allow  keyed store/load stubs to switch between external array and fast JS arrays without forcing a state transition to the generic stub.

There CL consists of two pieces of functionality. First, code stubs for fast element arrays don't immediately transition to the MEGAMORPHIC state when there's a map mismatch. Second, two ICs are cached per map for fast elements, the MONOMORPHIC version, and a new MEGAMORPHIC version that handles two or more different maps and dispatches to shared stubs to perform the array operation.

9cca7d2733 Combine typed and pixel arrays. 
Worth mentioning:
- Specialized versions of pixel array and store/loads inside the generic stubs have been removed, since to have parity for all external arrays, 8 different versions would have to be inlined/checked.
- There's a new constant in v8.h for external arrays with pixel array elements.

2a8eb35548 Provide more accurate results about used heap size via GetHeapStatistics. 
I observed that used heap size provided by Heap::SizeOfObjects() is
usually about ~10% bigger than the number calculated by summing up
heap objects sizes.

This aligns DevTools Timeline stats with Heap profiler stats.

9673ee5d59 Get rid of requested size in RetryAfterGC. 
This was only used by Heap::CollectGarbage to check if after GC
available space is bigger than was requested, but nobody checked
the value returned by Heap::CollectGarbage, so requested size
was efficiently unused.

However, it may trigger spurious out of memory exceptions if requested
size is big enough.

d46fb9d454 New attempt to make the allocation routines 64 bit clean. 
This one has been approved by the 64 bit compiler in MSVC
2005 so I hope it also passes the 2008 version.

The --max-new-space-size option is now in kBytes.
The --max-old-space-size option is now in MBytes.

Some issues remain with 64 bit heaps and the counters.  See

d3e457303e Add API callback for tracking allocated memory 
Allows the host application to provide a mechanism for notification and custom logging through a callback (set through the API V8::AddMemoryAllocationCallback and removed through V8::RemoveMemoryAllocationCallback), when V8 allocates ro frees memory. 

This replaces the current histogram data "V8.ExecutableMemoryMax" by allowing usage data to be logged by the application as required rather than always through V8.

19dc35c13f Force relinking of paged space if first attempt to recommit from space fails. 
That could improve chances for commit success as currently,
if we moved free pages out of order, we cannot shrink spaces.
However, when we experience problems commiting from space back, we should
use most of resources at our disposal.

Also get rid of currently unused parameter to DeallocateFunction.

3fb62235e3 Add functionality for finding code objects from a pc that points into 
the code object's instructions.

This allows us to find a code object using just the pc. This approach
uses a cache (PcToCodeCache) to make sure we don't continuously have
to iterate heap pages.

This change eliminates the need for cooking and uncooking of stack frames.

that previously introduced a signed/unsigned comparison issue in the

- New сardmarking write barrier handles large objects and normal objects in a similar fashion (no more additional space for pointer tracking is required, no conditional branches in WB code).
- Changes to enable oldspaces iteration without maps decoding:
-- layout change for FixedArrays: length is stored as a smis (initial patch by
Kevin Millikin)
-- layout change for SharedFunctionInfo: integer fields are stored as smi on
arm, ia32 and rearranged on x64.
-- layout change for String: meaning of LSB bit is fliped (1 now means hash not
computed); on x64 padding is added.
-- layout of maps is _not_ changed. Map space is currently iterated in a special
way.
