4f48d04f97 [turbofan] introduce a deterministic tick measurement and assert optimization doesn't take too long
This adds a simple counter to Turbofan that's incremented throughout the compilation, hopefully
frequently enough so we can use it to detect divergence and performance bugs.
In addition, we assert that this counter never gets too high. That's the equivalent of a simple
timeout, just more deterministic. The limitations on Turbofan input size should guarantee that
we never exceed this limit. Since we probably do exceed it rarely, this check is only a DCHECK and
intended to detect performance and divergence issues, but not supposed to be performed in release
builds.

In addition, this CL adds UMA stats to observe the real world distribution of the tick measurement.

f0d69fc913 [test] Modernize value helpers
This CL changes the usage pattern from
FOR_XXX_VALUES(i) { Use(*i); }
to
FOR_XXX_VALUES(i) { Use(i); }
which is way more intuitive.

Note that the replacement in the uses was done via regular expression,
so it's purely mechanical. In two locations I removed unneeded braces
around the macro, because they confused clang-format.
I plan to do more cleanups (remove redundant assignments within the
FOR_XXX_VALUES body) in a follow-up CL.

f3a23accad Remove fast_sqrt generated code
As far as I can tell these were unused; their only callers were arm
and ppc simulators, but codegen explicitly returned nullptr if in a
simulator build, falling back to std::sqrt.

There's more potential cleanup to be done here for other functions
defined in codegen-*.cc files.

822be9b238 Normalize casing of hexadecimal digits
This patch normalizes the casing of hexadecimal digits in escape
sequences of the form `\xNN` and integer literals of the form
`0xNNNN`.

Previously, the V8 code base used an inconsistent mixture of uppercase
and lowercase.

Google’s C++ style guide uses uppercase in its examples:
https://google.github.io/styleguide/cppguide.html#Non-ASCII_Characters

Moreover, uppercase letters more clearly stand out from the lowercase
`x` (or `u`) characters at the start, as well as lowercase letters
elsewhere in strings.

55aed78210 [wasm] Fix constant folding with signalling NaN.
According to the WebAssembly spec no arithmetic operation should ever
return a signalling NaN. With the constant folding in V8, however, it
was possible that some arithmetic operations were elided, and if the
input of the arithmetic operation was a signalling NaN, then also the
result was the same signalling NaN. This CL removes some constant
folding optimizations and adjusts others so that even with constant
folding the result of an arithmetic operation is never a signalling NaN.

285e1e157a [turbofan] Remove invalid typing rules.
Drop the typing rules for the machine operators and replace them

Drive-by-fix: Remove the extremely annoying test-simplified-lowering.cc
file, which is not very useful, but consumes a large amount of time to
keep it compiling and passing. Instead we should introduce appropriate
tests for the SimplifiedLowering that also test something meaningful
w/o just cementing the implementation.

16f133001f Move compiler cctests into v8::internal::compiler namespace.
This moves all cctest files for the compiler to live in the same
namespace as the components they are testing. Hence we can avoid the
forbidden using directives pulling in entire namespaces.

From the Google C++ style guide: "You may not use a using-directive to
make all names from a namespace available". This would be covered by
presubmit linter checks if build/namespaces were not blacklisted.

b7990793cf [turbofan] Move SimplifiedOperatorBuilder into JSGraph.
This fixes the lifetime of nodes created by JSGlobalSpecialization that
contain a simplified operator. In the case where this reducer runs as
part of the inliner, the SimplifiedOperatorBuilder was instantiated with
the wrong zone. This led to use-after-free of simplified operators.

To avoid such situations in the future, we decided to move this operator
builder into the JSGraph and make the situation uniform with all other
operator builders.

7d478d9621 Revert of Remove obsolete V8_INFINITY macro. (patchset #3 id:40001 of https://codereview.chromium.org/798413003/)
Reason for revert:
Speculative revert. This seems to block the current roll: https://codereview.chromium.org/819653003/

I retried several times, also with a new roll. The error is internal - but that doesn't make much of a difference.

481772acdd [turbofan] remove redundant '& 0x1F' for shifts.
JavaScript shifts perform an implicit '& 0x1F' on their right operand, this
patch removes it when the underlying architecture already does it.

b9886ae9ff Fix bugs in simplified lowering relating to int32/uint32 signs.
Lowering of NumberToUint32 and NumberToInt32 was not correctly accounting for the sign of the input and the sign of the output, emitting the wrong representation changes.

Along the way, I've found cases where MachineOperatorBuilder would break if fed a machine type for loads or stores that was not cached, requiring MachineOperatorBuilder to take zone to allocate operators for these cases.

0e16150d33 Better typing and type verification
- Extend verifier to check types of JS and Simplified nodes.
- Untyped nodes now contain NULL as types, enforcing hard failure.
- Typer immediately installs itself as a decorator; remove explicit decorator installation.
- Decorator eagerly types all nodes that have typed inputs
(subsumes typing of constant cache, removing its typing
side-channel and various spurious dependencies on the typer).
- Cut down typer interface to prevent inconsistently typed graphs.
- Remove verification from start, since it caused too much trouble
  with semi-wellformed nodes.
- Fix a couple of bugs on the way that got uncovered.

To do: verifying machine operators. Also, various conditions in the
verifier are currently commented out, because they don't yet hold.

4ec63ff97e Reland
- "Switch inlining to use simplified instead of machine loads."
- "Add copy support in inliner."

Reland fixes:
 - size_t conversion for 64bit arches
 - Don't call front() on empty vector
   (triggers assertion on windows)
 - turbo_inlining now implies turbo_types, as
   it requires simplified lowering.
