83cbb9e995 Need to navigate to "about:blank" in order for the internal docuemnt 
to be created, which has to be done in order for LoadString to work,
so do it at the start.

6dc863c78f When a directory can't accessed, don't assert, return false 
from wxDir and give a suppressable error message. This fixes
problems reading e.g. .vol directories.
