e86f2cc84a reorganized wxBitmap/wxBitmapHandler classes to use wxBitmapType instead of "long" where possible; made them const-correct; introduce wxBITMAP_SCREEN_DEPTH instead of -1 for clearness (specially in the docs); remove wxBitmapHandler empty stubs and rename wxBitmapHandlerBase as wxBitmapHandler

ac3688c0d8 make the Pen/Brush code backward compatible as discussed on wx-dev; marked the blocks of code to deprecate in future with FUTURE_WXWIN_COMPATIBILITY_3_0; add wxCHECK_MSG in all ports to block Get*() calls on invalid objects (as already is for all other refcounted objects and for most ports)

c86ec17bcd Limit wxListBox best size to 100x100. Particularly important on trunk where 
the best size is not cached and will thus keep telling the sizers that the
best size is the full size of the content (i.e. such that you wouldn't need
to scroll it).

74b57569a3 Change the __NEXT_RUNTIME__ test to __OBJC_GC__ which is what I really meant 
but I had to look up which preprocessor define was emitted by -fobjc-gc.
Also improve the comments a bit.

6ecc2922da Instead of using wxCFRetain/wxCFRelease directly for Objective-C objects add 
new wxGCSafeRetain/wxGCSafeRelease functions which are specific to Objective-C
objects and can be compile-time switched to standard retain/release without
breaking wxCFRetain/wxCFRelease for CF objects.

ddfdef64fa Fix most of the Objective-C GC problems by using the stronger CFRetain/CFRelease in wxObjcAutoRef. 
Actually use wxObjcAutoRef for the wxNSViewNotificationObserver singleton to keep it from being finalized.

8ea3a63ea9 Use one run-loop observer for all synthesis of mouse moved events instead of a separate observer for each view. 
Actually check the last mouse position and don't send synthesized events if the mouse hasn't moved.

4f46c20bc4 Further simplificiation of the NSSlider/wxSlider interface such that the 
various responder methods don't change the controls action but instead send
all actions through the normal wxCocoaNSControl action handling mechanism.
To determine what caused the action we save the message selector in a global
variable (safe since Cocoa does single-threaded event handling).

319fe1034c * Implement the wxMask copy constructor to retain the source object's 
m_cocoaNSBitmapImageRep (fixes multiple release bug).
* Add some debug messages for unimplemented wxMask::Create overloads.
* Implement mask creation w/ key color from 8-bpp grayscale bitmap.
  This makes the mask image in the drawing sample's mask page work.

05ef417f46 Add a Clear() method simply calling the wxComboBoxBase::Clear() to 
disambiguate it with wxTextCtrl::Clear() since wxCocoa's wxComboBox derives

a236aa2058 many wxItemContainer-related changes: 
1. the main function for item insertion is now DoInsertItems() which allows
   for much more efficient addition of many new items at once
2. the items client data management is done entirely in wxItemContainer
   itself, the derived classes don't have to distinguish between void and
   object client data
3. many fixes for sorted controls, in particular implemented wxCB_SORT support
   in wxGTK combobox

650c0aa918 cleanup of raw access to bitmaps: 
1. remove UseAlpha() on platforms that don't need it and call it automatically from ~wxPixelData instead of requiring explicit call; deprecate wxPixelData::UseAlpha()
2. don't call UngetRawData() if GetRawData() failed

879180b655 * Add public wxApp::sm_isEmbedded flag like on wxMac. Default initialization 
to true but a plugin can set it to false to cause wxCocoa to not initialize
  things like the application delegate or the menubar manager.
* Fix call to [NSNotificationCenter removeObserver:] to use the correct object.

dc3065a56f Big wxGL classes refactoring/cleanup: 
1. Provide the same API, especially, but not limited to, wxGLCanvas and
   wxCLContext ctors (which were completely different in all ports)
2. Extracted common parts into wxGLCanvas/ContextBase classes
3. Deprecate the old API using implicitly created wxGLContext

47a8a4d5cc make IsEnabled() return false even if the window parent, and not the window itself, is disabled and added IsThisEnabled() implementing the old IsEnabled() behaviour; also significantly simplify the window state management code in all ports by factoring out the common parts in wxWindowBase

55ccdb93e4 COW cleanup patch (1583966): 
1. perform deep comparison for the classes for which it makes sense in the
   ports where this wasn't done yet
2. remove (shallow) comparison operators for the classes for which it does
   not make sense (such as wxBitmap)
3. makes wxBitmap use COW on all ports
4. adds wxObject::IsRefTo()
5. centralizes and improves COW docs
