On s390 all ifunc resolvers were implemented in multiarch/ifunc-resolve.c.
The resulting single object files has undefined references to all ifunc-functions.
This patch introduces one multiarch/<func>.c file for each of memcpy, memcmp
and memset with the function specific ifunc resolver. The different function
implementations are now implemented in multiarch/<func>-s390x.S
(moved from multiarch/<func>.S).
The new multiarch/ifunc-resolve.h file contains the ifunc-resolver macro
and other helper-macros. They are merged and are now used in common for
32/64bit. Therefore the __<func>_g5/__<func>_z900 functions were renamed to
__<func>_default.
This patch also enables testing the ifunc implementations by implementing
the function __libc_ifunc_impl_list. It uses the helper-macros of ifunc-resolve.h.

On s390, the DXC(data-exception-code)-byte in FPC(floating-point-control)-
register contains a code of the last occured exception.
If bits 6 and 7 of DXC-byte are zero, the bits 0-5 correspond to the
ieee-exception flag bits.
The current implementation always uses these bits as ieee-exception flag bits.
fetestexcept() reports any exception after the first usage of a
vector-instruction in a process, because it raises an "vector instruction
exception" with DXC-code 0xFE.
This patch fixes the handling of the DXC-byte. The DXC-Byte is only handled
if bits 6 and 7 are zero.
The #define _FPU_RESERVED is extended by the DXC-Byte.
Otherwise the tests math/test-fpucw-static and math/test-fpucw-ieee-static
fails, because DXC-Byte contains the vector instruction exception when reaching
main(). This exception was triggered by strrchr() call in __init_misc().
__init_misc() is called after __setfpucw () in __libc_init_first().
The field __ieee_instruction_pointer in struct fenv_t is renamed to __unused
because it is a relict from commit "Remove PTRACE_PEEKUSER"
(87b9b50f0d) and isn´t used anymore.

commit 050f7298e1 added an extern
declaration for __tls_get_addr that conflicts with the one in s390
dl-tls.h, based on whether __tls_get_addr is defined as a macro. The
rationale seems to be based on the assumption that __tls_get_addr is
exported for every architecture and hence an internal non-plt alias is
needed. This is not true for s390 though, since it exports
__tls_get_offset and not __tls_get_addr. This results in tst-audit9
being stuck in an infinite loop.
This patch fixes this by defining a __tls_get_addr macro to itself so
as to not use the conflicting declaration.
Concluding the fixes for C90 libm functions calling C99 fe* functions,
this patch fixes the case of feupdateenv by making it a weak alias for
__feupdateenv and making the affected code call __feupdateenv.
Tested for x86_64 (testsuite, and that installed stripped shared

Various C90 and UNIX98 libm functions call feraiseexcept, which is not
in those standards. This causes linknamespace test failures - except
on x86 / x86_64, where feraiseexcept is inline (for the relevant
constant arguments) in bits/fenv.h.
This patch fixes this by making those functions call __feraiseexcept
instead. All changes are applied to all architectures rather than
considering the possibility that some might not be needed in some
cases (e.g. x86) as it seems most maintainable to keep architectures
consistent.
Where __feraiseexcept does not exist, it is added, with feraiseexcept
made a weak alias; where it is a strong alias, it is made weak.
libm_hidden_def / libm_hidden_proto are used with __feraiseexcept
(this might in some cases improve code generation for existing calls
to __feraiseexcept in some code on some architectures). Where there
are dummy feraiseexcept macros (on architectures without
floating-point exceptions support, to avoid compile errors from
references to undefined FE_* macros), corresponding dummy
__feraiseexcept macros are added. And on x86, to ensure
__feraiseexcept calls still get inlined, the inline function in
bits/fenv.h is refactored so that most of it can be reused in an
inline __feraiseexcept in a separate include/bits/fenv.h.
Calls are changed in C90/UNIX98 functions, but generally not in
functions missing from those standards. They are also changed in
libc_fe* functions (on the basis that those might be used in any libm
function), and in feupdateenv (on the same basis - may be used, via
default libc_*, in any libm function - of course feupdateenv will need
changing to __feupdateenv in a subsequent patch to make that fully
namespace-clean).
No __feraiseexcept is added corresponding to the feraiseexcept in
powerpc bits/fenvinline.h, because that macro definition is
conditional on !defined __NO_MATH_INLINES, and glibc libm is built
with -D__NO_MATH_INLINES, so changing internal calls to use
__feraiseexcept should make no difference.
Tested for x86_64 (testsuite; the only change in disassembly of
installed shared libraries is a slight code reordering in clog10, of
no apparent significance). Also tested for MIPS, where (in the
configuration tested) it eliminates math.h linknamespace failures for
n32 and n64 (some for o32 remain because of other issues).

This sets __HAVE_64B_ATOMICS if provided. It also sets
USE_ATOMIC_COMPILER_BUILTINS to true if the existing atomic ops use the
__atomic* builtins (aarch64, mips partially) or if this has been
tested (x86_64); otherwise, this is set to false so that C11 atomics will
be based on the existing atomic operations.
The current scheme to identify which module a translation unit is
built in depends on defining multiple macros IS_IN_* and also defining
NOT_IN_libc if we're building a non-libc module. In addition, there
is an IN_LIB macro that does effectively the same thing, but for
different modules (notably the systemtap probes). This macro scheme
unifies both ideas to use just one macro IN_MODULE and assign it a
value depending on the module it is being built into. If the module
is not defined, it defaults to MODULE_libc.
Patches that follow will replace uses of IS_IN_* variables with the
IS_IN() macro. libc-symbols.h has been converted already to give an
example of how such a transition will look.
Verified that there are no relevant binary changes. One source change
that will crop up repeatedly is that of nscd_stat, since it uses the
build timestamp as a constant in its logic.

The s390 ABI requires the stack pointer to be aligned at 8-bytes.
When a program is invoked as an argument to the dynamic linker,
_dl_start_user adjusts the stack to remove the dynamic linker
arguments so that the program sees only its name and arguments. This
may result in the stack being misaligned since each argument shift is
only a word and not a double-word.
This is now fixed shifting argv and envp down instead of shifting argc
up and reclaiming the stack. This requires _dl_argv to be adjusted
and hence, is no longer relro.
Continuing the removal of the obsolete INTDEF / INTUSE mechanism, this
patch eliminates its use for _dl_init. Since _dl_init was already
declared with hidden visibility, creating a second hidden alias for it
was completely pointless, so this patch replaces all uses of
_dl_init_internal with plain _dl_init instead of using hidden_proto /
hidden_def (which are only needed when you want a hidden alias for a
non-hidden symbol; it's quite possible there are cases where they are
used but don't need to be because the symbol in question is not part
of the public ABI and is only used within a single library, so using
attributes_hidden instead would suffice).
Tested for x86_64 that installed stripped shared libraries are
unchanged by the patch.

This patch defines ELF_MACHINE_NO_RELA on all architectures. Tested
only on x86_64 to verify that the sources before and after are
identical except for two instructions that pass the current line
number in dl-machine.h to assert_fail.
This patch makes non-ex-ports architectures set base_machine and
machine based on the original configured machine value in preconfigure
fragments, like ex-ports architectures, rather than in the toplevel
configure.ac.
Tested x86 that the disassembly of installed shared libraries is

The glibc makefiles have a standard variable, $(rtld-prefix), to run
the dynamic linker with a default --library-path option; this is used
as the basis of lots of other variables for running programs compiled
with the newly built library.
A few places however use $(elf-objpfx)ld.so or
$(elf-objpfx)${rtld-installed-name} directly, with such a
--library-path option. This patch makes such places use
$(rtld-prefix) instead. I'm not aware of any significance in these
cases to the choice of ld.so or ${rtld-installed-name} when running
the dynamic linker, or to whether $(patsubst
%,:%,$(sysdep-library-path)) is included in the library-path as it is
in $(rtld-prefix) and just one of the places being changed.
Tested x86_64.

localedata/ChangeLog:
* Makefile (LOCALEDEF): Use $(rtld-prefix).
Various glibc build / install / test code has C locale settings that
are redundant with LC_ALL=C.
LC_ALL takes precedence over LANG, so anywhere that sets LC_ALL=C
(explicitly, or through it being in the default environment for
running tests) does not need to set LANG=C. LC_ALL=C also takes
precedence over LANGUAGE, since
2001-01-02 Ulrich Drepper <drepper@redhat.com>
* intl/dcigettext.c (guess_category_value): Rewrite so that LANGUAGE
value is ignored if the selected locale is the C locale.
* intl/tst-gettext.c: Set locale for above change.
* intl/tst-translit.c: Likewise.
and so settings of LANGUAGE=C are also redundant when LC_ALL=C is
set. One test also had LC_ALL=C in its -ENV setting, although it's
part of the default environment used for tests.
This patch removes the redundant settings. It removes a suggestion in
install.texi of setting LANGUAGE=C LC_ALL=C for "make install"; the
Makefile.in target "install" already sets LC_ALL_C so there's no need
for the user to set it (and nor should there be any need for the user
to set it).
If some build machine tool used by "make install" uses a version of
libintl predating that 2001 change, and the user has LANGUAGE set, the
removal of LANGUAGE=C from the Makefile.in "install" rule could in
principle affect the user's installation. However, I don't think we
need to be concerned about pre-2001 build tools.

Added support for TX lock elision of pthread mutexes on s390 and
s390x. This may improve lock scaling of existing programs on TX
capable systems. The lock elision code is only built with
--enable-lock-elision=yes and then requires a GCC version supporting
the TX builtins. With lock elision default mutexes are elided via
__builtin_tbegin, if the cpu supports transactions. By default lock
elision is not enabled and the elision code is not built.
As recently discussed
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2014-02/msg00670.html>, it
doesn't seem particularly useful for libm-test-ulps files to contain
huge amounts of data on ulps for individual tests; just the global
maximum observed ulps for each function, together with the
verification of exceptions, errno and special results such as
infinities and NaNs for each test, suffices to verify that a
function's behavior on the given test inputs is within the expected
accuracy. Removing this data reduces source tree churn caused by
updates to these files when libm tests are added, and reduces the
frequency with which testsuite additions actually need libm-test-ulps
changes at all.
Accordingly, this patch removes that data, so that individual tests
get checked against the global bounds for the given function and only
generate an error if those are exceeded. Tested x86_64 (including
verifying that if an ulps value is artificially reduced, the tests do
indeed fail as they should and "make regen-ulps" generates the
expected changes).

Note: while this works on s390x, the s390 code hangs when using -e.
But it hangs regardless of this code (the hang seems to occur before
the exit func is even called). I didn't look too closely at it as
it seems to be an issue external to this file, so this code shouldn't
make the situation any worse.

The pointer guard used for pointer mangling was not initialized for
static applications resulting in the security feature being disabled.
The pointer guard is now correctly initialized to a random value for
static applications. Existing static applications need to be
recompiled to take advantage of the fix.
The test tst-ptrguard1-static and tst-ptrguard1 add regression
coverage to ensure the pointer guards are sufficiently random
and initialized to a default value.
Resolves: #15465
The program name may be unavailable if the user application tampers
with argc and argv[]. Some parts of the dynamic linker caters for
this while others don't, so this patch consolidates the check and
fallback into a single macro and updates all users.
The s390 and s390x sysdep.h files include the more generic sysdep.h.
The more generic sysdep.h defines PSEUDO. This causes an annoying
CPP warning saying the PSEUDO was redefined. This patch removes the
warning by undefining PSEUDO before the redefinition. This is in line
with what all the other machines do.
