ff6d62e9ed <sys/platform/x86.h>: Remove the C preprocessor magic
In <sys/platform/x86.h>, define CPU features as enum instead of using
the C preprocessor magic to make it easier to wrap this functionality
in other languages.  Move the C preprocessor magic to internal header
for better GCC codegen when more than one features are checked in a
single expression as in x86-64 dl-hwcaps-subdirs.c.

1. Rename COMMON_CPUID_INDEX_XXX to CPUID_INDEX_XXX.
2. Move CPUID_INDEX_MAX to sysdeps/x86/include/cpu-features.h.
3. Remove struct cpu_features and __x86_get_cpu_features from
<sys/platform/x86.h>.
4. Add __x86_get_cpuid_feature_leaf to <sys/platform/x86.h> and put it
in libc.
5. Make __get_cpu_features() private to glibc.
6. Replace __x86_get_cpu_features(N) with __get_cpu_features().
7. Add _dl_x86_get_cpu_features to GLIBC_PRIVATE.
8. Use a single enum index for each CPU feature detection.
9. Pass the CPUID feature leaf to __x86_get_cpuid_feature_leaf.
10. Return zero struct cpuid_feature for the older glibc binary with a
smaller CPUID_INDEX_MAX [BZ #27104].
11. Inside glibc, use the C preprocessor magic so that cpu_features data
can be loaded just once leading to more compact code for glibc.

256 bits are used for each CPUID leaf.  Some leaves only contain a few
features.  We can add exceptions to such leaves.  But it will increase
code sizes and it is harder to provide backward/forward compatibilities
when new features are added to such leaves in the future.

When new leaves are added, _rtld_global_ro offsets will change which
leads to race condition during in-place updates. We may avoid in-place
updates by

1. Rename the old glibc.
2. Install the new glibc.
3. Remove the old glibc.

NB: A function, __x86_get_cpuid_feature_leaf , is used to avoid the copy
relocation issue with IFUNC resolver as shown in IFUNC resolver tests.

0887fff0b0 Hurd: Add rtld-strncpy-c.c
All IFUNC functions which are used in ld.so must have a rtld version if
the IFUNC version isn't safe to use in ld.so.

2b778ceb40 Update copyright dates with scripts/update-copyrights
I used these shell commands:

../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright
(cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]")

and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning:
copyright statement not found" for each of 6694 files FOO.
I then removed trailing white space from benchtests/bench-pthread-locks.c
and iconvdata/tst-iconv-big5-hkscs-to-2ucs4.c, to work around this
diagnostic from Savannah:

e42efa01c9 hurd: set sigaction for signal preemptors in arch-independent file
Instead of having the arch-specific trampoline setup code detect whether
preemption happened or not, we'd rather pass it the sigaction. In the
future, this may also allow to change sa_flags from post_signal().

d865ff74ba hurd: implement SA_SIGINFO signal handlers.
SA_SIGINFO is actually just another way of expressing what we were
already passing over with struct sigcontext. This just introduces the
SIGINFO interface and fixes the posix values when that interface is
requested by the application.

e7570f4131 Replace __libc_multiple_libcs with __libc_initial flag
Change sbrk to fail for !__libc_initial (in the generic
implementation).  As a result, sbrk is (relatively) safe to use
for the __libc_initial case (from the main libc).  It is therefore
no longer necessary to avoid using it in that case (or updating the
brk cache), and the __libc_initial flag does not need to be updated
as part of dlmopen or static dlopen.

As before, direct brk system calls on Linux may lead to memory
corruption.

c8f9421298 htl: Add pshared semaphore support

0f73c17037 hurd: Make sure signals get started
Now that _hurd_libc_proc_init is idempotent, we can always call it,
independently of the __libc_multiple_libcs test which may not match
whether signals should be started or not.

1ccbb9258e hurd: Notify the proc server later during initialization
Notifying the proc server is an involved task, and unleashes various signal
handling etc. so we have to do this after e.g. ifunc relocations are
completed.

9cec82de71 htl: Initialize later
Since htl does not actually need a stack switch, we can initialize it
like nptl is, avoiding all sorts of startup issues with ifunc.

More precisely, htl defines __pthread_initialize_minimal instead of the
elder _cthread_init_routine. We can then drop the stack switching dances.

3d3316b1de hurd: keep only required PLTs in ld.so
We need NO_RTLD_HIDDEN because of the need for PLT calls in ld.so.
See Roland's comment in
https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=15605
"in the Hurd it's crucial that calls like __mmap be the libc ones
instead of the rtld-local ones after the bootstrap phase, when the
dynamic linker is being used for dlopen and the like."

We used to just avoid all hidden use in the rtld ; this commit switches to
keeping only those that should use PLT calls, i.e. essentially those defined in
sysdeps/mach/hurd/dl-sysdep.c:

__assert_fail
__assert_perror_fail
__*stat64
_exit

This fixes a few startup issues, notably the call to __tunable_get_val that is
made before PLTs are set up.

589260cef8 Remove mknod wrapper functions, move them to symbols
This patch removes the mknod and mknodat static wrapper and add the
symbols on the libc with the expected names.

Both the prototypes of the internal symbol linked by the static
wrappers and the inline redirectors are also removed from the installed
sys/stat.h header file.  The wrapper implementation license LGPL
exception is also removed since it is no longer statically linked to
binaries.

Internally the _STAT_VER* definitions are moved to the arch-specific
xstatver.h file.

Checked with a build for all affected ABIs. I also checked on x86_64,
i686, powerpc, powerpc64le, sparcv9, sparc64, s390, and s390x.

8ed005daf0 Remove stat wrapper functions, move them to exported symbols
This patch removes the stat, stat64, lstat, lstat64, fstat, fstat64,
fstatat, and fstatat64 static wrapper and add the symbol on the libc
with the expected names.

Both the prototypes of the internal symbol linked by the static
wrappers and the inline redirectors are also removed from the installed
sys/stat.h header file.  The wrapper implementation license LGPL
exception is also removed since it is no longer statically linked to
binaries.

Internally the _STAT_VER* definitions are moved to a arch-specific
xstatver.h file.  The internal defines that redirects internals
{f}stat{at} to their {f}xstat{at} counterparts are removed for Linux
(!NO_RTLD_HIDDEN).  Hurd still requires them since {f}stat{at} pulls
extra objects that makes the loader build fail otherwise (I haven't
dig into why exactly).

Checked with a build for all affected ABIs. I also checked on x86_64,
i686, powerpc, powerpc64le, sparcv9, sparc64, s390, and s390x.

8c6beab4e1 hurd: Rework sbrk
Making the brk start exactly at the end of the main application binary was
requiring to get it through the _end symbol, which does not work any more
with recent toolchains, and actually produces in libc.so a confusing
external _end symbol that produces odd results, see
https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23499

Trying to do so is quite outdated anyway with the tendency for address
randomization.

Using _end was also allowing to include the main binary data within
the RLIMIT_DATA, but this also seems outdated with dynamic library
loading, and nowadays' memory consumption via malloc and mmap rather than
statically-allocated data.

This adds a BRK_START macro in <vm_param.h> that just tells where we
want to start the brk, and thus removes the _end symbol.

* sysdeps/mach/hurd/i386/vm_param.h: New file.
* sysdeps/mach/hurd/brk.c: Use BRK_START as brk start instead of _end.
Also ignore __data_start.
* hurd/Versions: Remove _end symbol.
* sysdeps/mach/hurd/i386/libc.abilist: Remove _end symbol.

115bcf921a hurd: Fix longjmp early in initialization
When e.g. an LD_PRELOAD fails, _dl_signal_exception/error longjmps, but TLS
is not initialized yet, let along signal state.  We thus mustn't look at
them within __longjmp.

* sysdeps/mach/hurd/i386/____longjmp_chk.S,__longjmp.S: Check for
initialized value of %gs, and that sigstate is non-NULL.

325081b9eb string: Add strerrorname_np and strerrordesc_np
The strerrorname_np returns error number name (e.g. "EINVAL" for EINVAL)
while strerrordesc_np returns string describing error number (e.g
"Invalid argument" for EINVAL).  Different than strerror,
strerrordesc_np does not attempt to translate the return description,
both functions return NULL for an invalid error number.

They should be used instead of sys_errlist and sys_nerr, both are
thread and async-signal safe.  These functions are GNU extensions.

Checked on x86-64-linux-gnu, i686-linux-gnu, powerpc64le-linux-gnu,
and s390x-linux-gnu.

bfe05aa289 string: Add sigabbrev_np and sigdescr_np
The sigabbrev_np returns the abbreviated signal name (e.g. "HUP" for
SIGHUP) while sigdescr_np returns the string describing the error
number (e.g "Hangup" for SIGHUP).  Different than strsignal,
sigdescr_np does not attempt to translate the return description and
both functions return NULL for an invalid signal number.

They should be used instead of sys_siglist or sys_sigabbrev and they
are both thread and async-signal safe.  They are added as GNU
extensions on string.h header (same as strsignal).

Checked on x86-64-linux-gnu, i686-linux-gnu, powerpc64le-linux-gnu,
and s390x-linux-gnu.

706ad1e7af Add the __libc_single_threaded variable
The variable is placed in libc.so, and it can be true only in
an outer libc, not libcs loaded via dlmopen or static dlopen.
Since thread creation from inner namespaces does not work,
pthread_create can update __libc_single_threaded directly.

Using __libc_early_init and its initial flag, implementation of this
variable is very straightforward.  A future version may reset the flag
during fork (but not in an inner namespace), or after joining all
threads except one.

be668a8d78 New exp10f version without SVID compat wrapper
This patch changes the exp10f error handling semantics to only set
errno according to POSIX rules.  New symbol version is introduced at
GLIBC_2.32.  The old wrappers are kept for compat symbols.

There are some outliers that need special handling:

  - ia64 provides an optimized implementation of exp10f that uses ia64
    specific routines to set SVID compatibility.  The new symbol version
    is aliased to the exp10f one.

  - m68k also provides an optimized implementation, and the new version
    uses it instead of the sysdeps/ieee754/flt32 one.

  - riscv and csky uses the generic template implementation that
    does not provide SVID support.  For both cases a new exp10f
    version is not added, but rather the symbols version of the
    generic sysdeps/ieee754/flt32 is adjusted instead.

Checked on aarch64-linux-gnu, x86_64-linux-gnu, i686-linux-gnu,
powerpc64le-linux-gnu.

de42613540 elf: Turn _dl_printf, _dl_error_printf, _dl_fatal_printf into functions
This change makes it easier to set a breakpoint on these calls.

This also addresses the issue that including <ldsodefs.h> without
<unistd.h> does not result usable _dl_*printf macros because of the
use of the STD*_FILENO macros there.

(The private symbol for _dl_fatal_printf will go away again
once the exception handling implementation is unified between
libc and ld.so.)

ec935dea63 elf: Implement __libc_early_init
This function is defined in libc.so, and the dynamic loader calls
right after relocation has been finished, before any ELF constructors
or the preinit function is invoked.  It is also used in the static
build for initializing parts of the static libc.

To locate __libc_early_init, a direct symbol lookup function is used,
_dl_lookup_direct.  It does not search the entire symbol scope and
consults merely a single link map.  This function could also be used
to implement lookups in the vDSO (as an optimization).

A per-namespace variable (libc_map) is added for locating libc.so,
to avoid repeated traversals of the search scope.  It is similar to
GL(dl_initfirst).  An alternative would have been to thread a context
argument from _dl_open down to _dl_map_object_from_fd (where libc.so
is identified).  This could have avoided the global variable, but
the change would be larger as a result.  It would not have been
possible to use this to replace GL(dl_initfirst) because that global
variable is used to pass the function pointer past the stack switch
from dl_main to the main program.  Replacing that requires adding
a new argument to _dl_init, which in turn needs changes to the
architecture-specific libc.so startup code written in assembler.

__libc_early_init should not be used to replace _dl_var_init (as
it exists today on some architectures).  Instead, _dl_lookup_direct
should be used to look up a new variable symbol in libc.so, and
that should then be initialized from the dynamic loader, immediately
after the object has been loaded in _dl_map_object_from_fd (before
relocation is run).  This way, more IFUNC resolvers which depend on
these variables will work.

3a0ecccb59 ld.so: Do not export free/calloc/malloc/realloc functions [BZ #25486]
Exporting functions and relying on symbol interposition from libc.so
makes the choice of implementation dependent on DT_NEEDED order, which
is not what some compiler drivers expect.

This commit replaces one magic mechanism (symbol interposition) with
another one (preprocessor-/compiler-based redirection).  This makes
the hand-over from the minimal malloc to the full malloc more
explicit.

Removing the ABI symbols is backwards-compatible because libc.so is
always in scope, and the dynamic loader will find the malloc-related
symbols there since commit f0b2132b35
("ld.so: Support moving versioned symbols between sonames
[BZ #24741]").

653d74f12a hurd: Global signal disposition
This adds _hurd_sigstate_set_global_rcv used by libpthread to enable
POSIX-confirming behavior of signals on a per-thread basis.

This also provides a sigstate destructor _hurd_sigstate_delete, and a
global process signal state, which needs to be locked and check when
global disposition is enabled, thus the addition of _hurd_sigstate_lock
_hurd_sigstate_actions _hurd_sigstate_pending _hurd_sigstate_unlock helpers.

This also updates all the glibc code accordingly.

This also drops support for get_int(INIT_SIGMASK), which did not make sense
any more since we do not have a single signal thread any more.

During fork/spawn, this also reinitializes the child global sigstate's
lock. That cures an issue that would very rarely cause a deadlock in the
child in fork, tries to unlock ss' critical section lock at the end of
fork.  This will typically (always?) be observed in /bin/sh, which is not
surprising as that is the foremost caller of fork.

To reproduce an intermediate state, add an endless loop if
_hurd_global_sigstate is locked after __proc_dostop (cast through
volatile); that is, while still being in the fork's parent process.

When that triggers (use the libtool testsuite), the signal thread has
already locked ss (which is _hurd_global_sigstate), and is stuck at
hurdsig.c:685 in post_signal, trying to lock _hurd_siglock (which the
main thread already has locked and keeps locked until after
__task_create).  This is the case that ss->thread == MACH_PORT_NULL, that
is, a global signal.  In the main thread, between __proc_dostop and
__task_create is the __thread_abort call on the signal thread which would
abort any current kernel operation (but leave ss locked).  Later in fork,
in the parent, when _hurd_siglock is unlocked in fork, the parent's
signal thread can proceed and will unlock eventually the global sigstate.
In the client, _hurd_siglock will likewise be unlocked, but the global
sigstate never will be, as the client's signal thread has been configured
to restart execution from _hurd_msgport_receive.  Thus, when the child
tries to unlock ss' critical section lock at the end of fork, it will
first lock the global sigstate, will spin trying to lock it, which can
never be successful, and we get our deadlock.

Options seem to be:

  * Move the locking of _hurd_siglock earlier in post_signal -- but that
    may generally impact performance, if this locking isn't generally
    needed anyway?

    On the other hand, would it actually make sense to wait here until we
    are not any longer in a critical section (which is meant to disable
    signal delivery anyway (but not for preempted signals?))?

  * Clear the global sigstate in the fork's child with the rationale that
    we're anyway restarting the signal thread from a clean state.  This
    has now been implemented.

Why has this problem not been observed before Jérémie's patches?  (Or has
it?  Perhaps even more rarely?)  In _S_msg_sig_post, the signal is now
posted to a *global receiver thread*, whereas previously it was posted to
the *designated signal-receiving thread*.  The latter one was in a
critical section in fork, so didn't try to handle the signal until after
leaving the critical section?  (Not completely analyzed and verified.)

Another question is what the signal is that is being received
during/around the time __proc_dostop executes.

a678c13b8f hurd: Add getcontext, makecontext, setcontext, swapcontext
Adapted from the Linux x86 functions.

Not thoroughly tested, but manual testing as well as glibc tests look fine, and
manual -lpthread testing also looks fine (within the given bounds for a new
stack to be used with makecontext).

This has also been in use in Debian since 2013.

7b5af2d8f2 Finish move of clock_* functions to libc. [BZ #24959]
In glibc 2.17, the functions clock_getcpuclockid, clock_getres,
clock_gettime, clock_nanosleep, and clock_settime were moved from
librt.so to libc.so, leaving compatibility stubs behind.  Now that the
dynamic linker no longer insists on finding versioned symbols in the
same library that originally defined them, we do not need the stubs
anymore, and this means we don't need GLIBC_PRIVATE __-prefix aliases
for most of the functions anymore either.  (clock_gettime still needs
one.)  For ports added before 2.17, libc.so needs to provide two
symbol versions for each, the default at GLIBC_2.17 plus a compat
version matching what librt had.

While I'm at it, move the clock_*.c files and their tests from rt/ to
time/.

a43565ac44 Refactor sigcontextinfo.h
This patch refactor sigcontextinfo.h header to use SA_SIGINFO as default
for both gmon and debug implementations.  This allows simplify
profil-counter.h on Linux to use a single implementation and remove the
requirements for newer ports to redefine __sigaction/sigaction to use
SA_SIGINFO.

The GET_PC macro is also replaced with a function sigcontext_get_pc that
returns an uintptr_t instead of a void pointer.  It allows easier convertion
to integer on ILP32 architecture, such as x32, without the need to suppress
compiler warnings.

The patch also requires some refactor of register-dump.h file for some
architectures (to reflect it is now called from a sa_sigaction instead of
sa_handler signal context).

   - Alpha, i386, and s390 are straighfoward to take in consideration the
     new argument type.

   - ia64 takes in consideration the kernel pass a struct sigcontextt
     as third argument for sa_sigaction.

   - sparc take in consideration the kernel pass a pt_regs struct
     as third argument for sa_sigaction.

   - m68k dummy function is removed and the FP state is dumped on
     register_dump itself.

   - For SH the register-dump.h file is consolidate on a common implementation
     and the floating-point state is checked based on ownedfp field.

The register_dump does not change its output format in any affected
architecture.

I checked on x86_64-linux-gnu, i686-linux-gnu, aarch64-linux-gnu,
arm-linux-gnueabihf, sparcv9-linux-gnu, sparc64-linux-gnu, powerpc-linux-gnu,
powerpc64-linux-gnu, and powerpc64le-linux-gnu.

I also checked the libSegFault.so through catchsegv on alpha-linux-gnu,
m68k-linux-gnu and sh4-linux-gnu to confirm the output has not changed.

42760d7646 Make totalorder and totalordermag functions take pointer arguments.
The resolution of C floating-point Clarification Request 25
<http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg14/www/docs/n2397.htm#dr_25> is
that the totalorder and totalordermag functions should take pointer
arguments, and this has been adopted in C2X (with const added; note
that the integration of this change into C2X is present in the C
standard git repository but postdates the most recent public PDF
draft).

This patch updates glibc accordingly.  As a defect resolution, the API
is changed unconditionally rather than supporting any sort of TS
18661-1 mode for compilation with the old version of the API.  There
are compat symbols for existing binaries that pass floating-point
arguments directly.  As a consequence of changing to pointer
arguments, there are no longer type-generic macros in tgmath.h for
these functions.

Because of the fairly complicated logic for creating libm function
aliases and determining the set of aliases to create in a given glibc
configuration, rather than duplicating all that in individual source
files to create the versioned and compat symbols, the source files for
the various versions of totalorder functions are set up to redefine
weak_alias before using libm_alias_* macros to create the symbols
required.  In turn, this requires creating a separate alias for each
symbol version pointing to the same implementation (see binutils bug
<https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23840>), which is
done automatically using __COUNTER__.  (As I noted in
<https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2018-10/msg00631.html>, it might
well make sense for glibc's symbol versioning macros to do that alias
creation with __COUNTER__ themselves, which would somewhat simplify
the logic in the totalorder source files.)

It is of course desirable to test the compat symbols.  I did this with
the generic libm-test machinery, but didn't wish to duplicate the
actual tables of test inputs and outputs, and thought it risky to
attempt to have a single object file refer to both default and compat
versions of the same function in order to test them together.  Thus, I
created libm-test-compat_totalorder.inc and
libm-test-compat_totalordermag.inc which include the generated .c
files (with the processed version of those tables of inputs) from the
non-compat tests, and added appropriate dependencies.  I think this
provides sufficient test coverage for the compat symbols without also
needing to make the special ldbl-96 and ldbl-128ibm tests (of
peculiarities relating to the representations of those formats that
can't be covered in the generic tests) run for the compat symbols.

Tests of compat symbols need to be internal tests, meaning _ISOMAC is
not defined.  Making some libm-test tests into internal tests showed
up two other issues.  GCC diagnoses duplicate macro definitions of
__STDC_* macros, including __STDC_WANT_IEC_60559_TYPES_EXT__; I added
an appropriate conditional and filed
<https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=91451> for this issue.
On ia64, include/setjmp.h ends up getting included indirectly from
libm-symbols.h, resulting in conflicting definitions of the STR macro
(also defined in libm-test-driver.c); I renamed the macros in
include/setjmp.h.  (It's arguable that we should have common internal
headers used everywhere for stringizing and concatenation macros.)

Tested for x86_64 and x86, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

db6df070cf Do not clobber sp in _hurd_stack_setup.
GCC mainline now gives errors for an asm that clobbers the stack
pointer.  According to
<https://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2018-12/msg00932.html> GCC
previously ignored such a clobber; thus, this patch removes it from
_hurd_stack_setup.

Tested with build-many-glibcs.py for i686-gnu.

a502c5294b Remove the error handling wrapper from pow
Introduce new pow symbol version that doesn't do SVID compatible error
handling.  The standard errno and fp exception based error handling is
inline in the new code and does not have significant overhead.

The wrapper is disabled for sysdeps/ieee754/dbl-64 by using empty
w_pow.c and enabled for targets with their own pow implementation or
ifunc dispatch on __ieee754_pow by including math/w_pow.c.

The compatibility symbol version still uses the wrapper with SVID error
handling around the new code.  There is no new symbol version nor
compatibility code on !LIBM_SVID_COMPAT targets (e.g. riscv).

On targets where previously powl was an alias of pow, now it points to
the compatibility symbol with the wrapper, because it still need the
SVID compatible error handling.  This affects NO_LONG_DOUBLE (e.g. arm)
and LONG_DOUBLE_COMPAT (e.g. alpha) targets as well.

The __pow_finite symbol is now an alias of pow.  Both __pow_finite and
pow set errno and thus not const functions.

The ia64 asm is changed so the compat and new symbol versions map to the
same address.

On x86_64 #include <math.h> was added before macro definitions that
may affect that header.

Tested with build-many-glibcs.py.

f29b7c492d Remove the error handling wrapper from log
Introduce new log symbol version that doesn't do SVID compatible error

The implementation falls back to renameat if renameat2 is not available
in the kernel (or in the kernel headers) and the flags argument is zero.
Without kernel support, a non-zero argument returns EINVAL, not ENOSYS.
This mirrors what the kernel does for invalid renameat2 flags.

06ab719d30 Fix Linux fcntl OFD locks for non-LFS architectures (BZ#20251)
This patch fixes the OFD ("file private") locks for architectures that
support non-LFS flock definition (__USE_FILE_OFFSET64 not defined). The
issue in this case is both F_OFD_{GETLK,SETLK,SETLKW} and
F_{SET,GET}L{W}K64 expects a flock64 argument and when using old
F_OFD_* flags with a non LFS flock argument the kernel might interpret
the underlying data wrongly.  Kernel idea originally was to avoid using
such flags in non-LFS syscall, but since GLIBC uses fcntl with LFS
semantic as default it is possible to provide the functionality and
avoid the bogus struct kernel passing by adjusting the struct manually
for the required flags.

The idea follows other LFS interfaces that provide two symbols:

  1. A new LFS fcntl64 is added on default ABI with the usual macros to
     select it for FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64.

  2. The Linux non-LFS fcntl use a stack allocated struct flock64 for
     F_OFD_{GETLK,SETLK,SETLKW} copy the results on the user provided
     struct.

  3. Keep a compat symbol with old broken semantic for architectures
     that do not define __OFF_T_MATCHES_OFF64_T.

So for architectures which defines __USE_FILE_OFFSET64, fcntl64 will
aliased to fcntl and no adjustment would be required.  So to actually
use F_OFD_* with LFS support the source must be built with LFS support
(_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64).

Also F_OFD_SETLKW command is handled a cancellation point, as for
F_SETLKW{64}.

Checked on x86_64-linux-gnu and i686-linux-gnu.

632a6cbe44 Add narrowing divide functions.
This patch adds the narrowing divide functions from TS 18661-1 to
glibc's libm: fdiv, fdivl, ddivl, f32divf64, f32divf32x, f32xdivf64
for all configurations; f32divf64x, f32divf128, f64divf64x,
f64divf128, f32xdivf64x, f32xdivf128, f64xdivf128 for configurations
with _Float64x and _Float128; __nldbl_ddivl for ldbl-opt.

The changes are mostly essentially the same as for the other narrowing
functions, so the description of those generally applies to this patch
as well.

Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 (all three ABIs, both hard and soft
float) and powerpc, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

69a01461ee Add narrowing multiply functions.
This patch adds the narrowing multiply functions from TS 18661-1 to
glibc's libm: fmul, fmull, dmull, f32mulf64, f32mulf32x, f32xmulf64
for all configurations; f32mulf64x, f32mulf128, f64mulf64x,
f64mulf128, f32xmulf64x, f32xmulf128, f64xmulf128 for configurations
with _Float64x and _Float128; __nldbl_dmull for ldbl-opt.

The changes are mostly essentially the same as for the narrowing add
functions, so the description of those generally applies to this patch
as well.  f32xmulf64 for i386 cannot use precision control as used for
add and subtract, because that would result in double rounding for
subnormal results, so that uses round-to-odd with long double
intermediate result instead.  The soft-fp support involves adding a
new FP_TRUNC_COOKED since soft-fp multiplication uses cooked inputs
and outputs.

Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 (all three ABIs, both hard and soft
float) and powerpc, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

b289cd9db8 Ignore absolute symbols in ABI tests.
A recent binutils patch
<https://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/2018-04/msg00336.html> stops the
MIPS linker including the _gp_disp absolute symbol in dynamic symbol
tables.

With older binutils, it is included for MIPS o32 (despite the use of
symbol versioning), and this means that all the ABI test baselines for
MIPS o32 include "_gp_disp _gp_disp A".  This symbol is not
meaningfully part of the ABI for shared libraries, since it always has
to be resolved at static link time to the local definition for the
linked object.

All the other absolute symbols in ABI test baselines are the names of
symbol versions.  I don't think the mere existence of a symbol version
with a given name - as opposed to the contents of that version if
nonempty - is part of the ABI either.  Thus, this patch allows the ABI
tests to pass both before and after the binutils change by changing
abilist.awk not to include absolute symbols in its output, and
changing the baselines accordingly.

Tested for x86_64, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

a44061398c Remove unused frame.h header, sigcontextinfo.h macros.
The glibc-internal header frame.h was used in the old
debug/backtrace.c but is now unused.  Similarly, there are some
sigcontextinfo.h macros that are used nowhere in glibc -
ADVANCE_STACK_FRAME and FIRST_FRAME_POINTER were used in the old
debug/backtrace.c, while SIGCONTEXT_EXTRA_ARGS, GET_FRAME, GET_STACK
and CALL_SIGHANDLER were unused even before the removal of that old
implementation (beyond uses of SIGCONTEXT_EXTRA_ARGS in definitions of
CALL_SIGHANDLER).  This patch removes all the unused frame.h headers
and definitions of those macros.

Tested with build-many-glibcs.py.

8d3f9e85cf Add narrowing subtract functions.
This patch adds the narrowing subtract functions from TS 18661-1 to
glibc's libm: fsub, fsubl, dsubl, f32subf64, f32subf32x, f32xsubf64
for all configurations; f32subf64x, f32subf128, f64subf64x,
f64subf128, f32xsubf64x, f32xsubf128, f64xsubf128 for configurations
with _Float64x and _Float128; __nldbl_dsubl for ldbl-opt.

The changes are essentially the same as for the narrowing add
functions, so the description of those generally applies to this patch
as well.

Tested for x86_64, x86, mips64 (all three ABIs, both hard and soft
float) and powerpc, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

d8742dd82f Add narrowing add functions.
This patch adds the narrowing add functions from TS 18661-1 to glibc's
libm: fadd, faddl, daddl, f32addf64, f32addf32x, f32xaddf64 for all
configurations; f32addf64x, f32addf128, f64addf64x, f64addf128,
f32xaddf64x, f32xaddf128, f64xaddf128 for configurations with
_Float64x and _Float128; __nldbl_daddl for ldbl-opt.  As discussed for
the build infrastructure patch, tgmath.h support is deliberately
deferred, and FP_FAST_* macros are not applicable without optimized
function implementations.

Function implementations are added for all relevant pairs of formats
(including certain cases of a format and itself where more than one
type has that format).  The main implementations use round-to-odd, or
a trivial computation in the case where both formats are the same or
where the wider format is IBM long double (in which case we don't
attempt to be correctly rounding).  The sysdeps/ieee754/soft-fp
implementations use soft-fp, and are used automatically for
configurations without exceptions and rounding modes by virtue of
existing Implies files.  As previously discussed, optimized versions
for particular architectures are possible, but not included.

i386 gets a special version of f32xaddf64 to avoid problems with
double rounding (similar to the existing fdim version), since this
function must round just once without an intermediate rounding to long
double.  (No such special version is needed for any other function,
because the nontrivial functions use round-to-odd, which does the
intermediate computation with the rounding mode set to round-to-zero,
and double rounding is OK except in round-to-nearest mode, so is OK
for that intermediate round-to-zero computation.)  mul and div will
need slightly different special versions for i386 (using round-to-odd
on long double instead of precision control) because of the
possibility of inexact intermediate results in the subnormal range for
double.

To reduce duplication among the different function implementations,
math-narrow.h gets macros CHECK_NARROW_ADD, NARROW_ADD_ROUND_TO_ODD
and NARROW_ADD_TRIVIAL.

In the trivial cases and for any architecture-specific optimized
implementations, the overhead of the errno setting might be
significant, but I think that's best handled through compiler built-in
functions rather than providing separate no-errno versions in glibc
(and likewise there are no __*_finite entry points for these function
provided, __*_finite effectively being no-errno versions at present in
most cases).

Tested for x86_64 and x86, with both GCC 6 and GCC 7.  Tested for
mips64 (all three ABIs, both hard and soft float) and powerpc with GCC
7.  Tested with build-many-glibcs.py with both GCC 6 and GCC 7.

7553131847 Fix struct sigaltstack namespace (bug 21517).
glibc defines the stack_t type with the tag struct sigaltstack.  This
is not permitted by POSIX; sigaltstack is only reserved with file
scope in the namespace of ordinary identifiers, not the tag namespace,
and in the case where stack_t is obtained from ucontext.h rather than
signal.h, it's not reserved with file scope at all.

This patch removes the tag accordingly and updates uses in glibc of
struct sigaltstack.  This is similar to the removal of the "struct
siginfo" tag a few years ago: C++ name mangling changes are an
unavoidable consequence.  A NEWS item is added to note the changed
mangling.  There is inevitably some risk of breaking builds of
anything that relies on the struct sigaltstack name (though the first
few hits I looked at from codesearch.debian.net generally seemed to
involve code that could use the stack_t name conditionally, so
depending on how they determine the conditionals they may work with
glibc not defining the struct tag anyway).

Tested for x86_64 and x86, and with build-many-glibcs.py.

a992f506ff Remove __need macros from signal.h.
The types affected are __sig_atomic_t, sig_atomic_t, __sigset_t,
sigset_t, sigval_t, sigevent_t, and siginfo_t. __sig_atomic_t is a
scalar, so it's now directly available from bits/types.h.  The others
get bits/types/ headers.

Side effects include: There have been small changes to which
non-signal headers expose which subset of the signal-related types.
A couple of architectures' nested siginfo_t fields had to be renamed
to prevent undesired macro expansion.  Internal code that wants to
manipulate signal masks must now include <sigsetops.h> (which is not
installed) and should be aware that __sigaddset, __sigandset,
__sigdelset, __sigemptyset, and __sigorset no longer return a value
(unlike the public API).  Relatedly, the public signal.h no longer
declares any of those functions.  The obsolete sigmask() macro no
longer has a system-specific definition -- in the cases where it
matters, it didn't work anyway.

New Linux architectures should create bits/siginfo-arch.h and/or
bits/siginfo-consts-arch.h to customize their siginfo_t, rather than
duplicating everything in bits/siginfo.h (which no longer exists).
Add new __SI_* macros if necessary.  Ports to other operating systems
are strongly encouraged to generalize this scheme further.

bf079e19f5 getopt: remove USE_NONOPTION_FLAGS
glibc's implementation of getopt includes code to parse an environment
variable named _XXX_GNU_nonoption_argv_flags_ (where XXX is the
current process's PID in decimal); but all of it has been #ifdefed out
since 2001, with no official way to turn it back on.

According to commentary in our config.h.in, bash version 2.0 set this
environment variable to indicate argv elements that were the result of
glob expansion and therefore should not be treated as options, but the
feature was "disabled later" because "it caused problems".  According
to bash's CHANGES file, "later" was release 2.01; it gives no more
detail about what the problems were.

Version 2.0 of bash was released on the last day of 1996, and version
2.01 in June of 1997.  Twenty years later, I think it is safe to
assume that this environment variable isn't coming back.

c66b29f9cc Installed-header hygiene (BZ#20366): stack_t.
sys/ucontext.h unconditionally uses stack_t, and it does not make
sense to change that.  But signal.h only declares stack_t under
__USE_XOPEN_EXTENDED || __USE_XOPEN2K8.  The actual definition is
already in a bits header, bits/sigstack.h, but that header insists on
only being included by signal.h, so we have to change that as well as
all of the sys/ucontext.h variants.  (Some but not all variants of
bits/sigcontext.h, which sys/ucontext.h may also need, had already
received this adjustment; for consistency, I made them all the same,
even if that's not strictly necessary in some configurations.)
bits/sigcontext.h and bits/sigstack.h also all need to receive
multiple inclusion guards.

e0cfa51064 hurd: Fix dlopening libraries from static programs
dlopening libraries from a static program would dlopen libc.so,
