Use :focus-within for focus in entries, since the
actual focus is on the text within, and :focus for
notebooks, since we don't want to draw an outline
around the notebook when the focus is in content.
- People seem to misunderstand the unsharp-mask-like increase
of visual contrast for "fuziness". That is not the reason for
the change. The stylistic change of just going with flat
text label allows to simplify the code and drop complexity.

- sligtly increase contrast for the treeview borders
- FIXME: High Contrast seems to drop the borders completely,
there might be some trickery for using border-left-color and
border-top-color this way as even forcing the color 'red' seems
to render invisible on HC.

- introduce two new colors: $focus_border_color for focused / outlined elements and $_coloured_focus_border_color for focused / outlined elements with a colored background color, like suggested/destructive buttons or selected elements
- set outline / focus color, offset and style accordingly for all widgets
- adapt entry focus color
After commit 2ab9be54fb we had to rename
the generated CSS files to be included into the GResource bundle; we
kept the URI stable to avoid too much churn, and allow backporting the
change to the 3.24 stable branch. This had the adverse effect of making
it harder to debug issues, as the on-disk file name does not match the
location in the GResource that will be used to print out warnings,
errors, and debugging messages.
It seems that Meson's gnome.compile_resources() cannot deal with two
files with the same name under different directories, which breaks the
build parallelism because the GResource file ends up not depending on
either the Adwaita or the HighContrast gtk-contained.css file.
This commit only changes the on-disk names of the Adwaita and
HighContrast SCSS files, and the corresponding generated CSS files; the
files in the GResource are going to be aliased to the old file names, to
minimise the breakage. We might want to change the theme entry points at
some later date, if we decide to commit to this naming scheme.

These are always set to the same value as the corresponding border
radius properties. They are also non-standard, so remove them and
replace them with the border radius properties everywhere.

Instead of requiring sassc to be installed add meson subprojects
which build libsass and sassc (currently both forks of mine, tested
under linux/mingw/msvc) when needed.
This allows us to drop the generated .css files and build scripts from git.

This is not meant to be a full GtkCalendar conversion to use widgets
instead of custom drawing, but we lost the arrows in the calendar header
when builtin icons were removed. Using proper button for the year/month
buttons brings them back.
This was broken in various ways; Tabbing between pages
was causing segfaults, and using the hover state like
this does not work anymore, with hover now being completely
managed by GTK. Use focus instead, and also fix up the
style.

Selectors like *:disabled or *:link have bad performance
implications, since they cause all styles to be recomputed
when the state of the window changes. Replace these by a
list of the elements that are actually affected.

This genius piece of CSS colors only the top left (or top right in RTL)
pixel of the scrollbar junction.
Doing it this way is better because we don't have to upload a cairo node
every frame.
8abdbfee16 pulled Adwaita tooltip selectors,
but in the meantime the colors were also set to Adwaita's. Push back the same
behaviour as before because it's better for visually-impaired users.
They are no longer supported by sass and broken with libsass 3.6.3
(https://github.com/sass/libsass/issues/3033)
This removes them by replacing them with a placeholder selector. This at
least brings the resulting CSS size down a bit so gtk can be build
again.
`%button.flat.suggested-action` has been replaced by
`%selection_mode_button_flat`, which is a more appropriate selector for
`.selection-mode button.titlebutton`.
The CSS was generated with libsass 3.5.5.

link target uses `$selected_bg_color` and `$selected_fg_color` for the
definition of some selectors (e.g. selected).
While `$link_color` and `$link_visited_color` are based on
`$selected_bg_color`, this does not seem coherent.
Replacing `$selected_*g_color` in link target style with link colors
defined in `_colors.scss file`.
Directly coloring labels can create a lot of unintended behaviors.
Unfortunately we can't avoid directly coloring `label:disabled` because
it can be used individually. This, however, tries to inherit color from
the parent element of labels wherever possible.

- Fix button.emoji-section margins in RTL.
- Prevent the .emoji hover effect from being applied to the entire
nested popover.
A GtkBox in a titlebar could have unwanted spacing.
This caused a glitch in split-header applications where
parts of the titlebar would be transparent or black.
This commit tweaks Adwaita to make sure no spacing is added for boxes when used as titlebars.
Fixes#2233
Add the margins to the menubutton and not the button inside the
menubutton. This way popovers properly point to the inner button again
instead to somewhere 6px off.
The expander icon is renamed from "arrow" to "expander".
The expander widget itself is renamed from "expander" to
"expander-widget" (Better ideas welcome).
This makes it possible to have an "expander" icon in more places then
the GtkExpander widget (in particular in tree lists) and not
confuse it with arrows.
This CSS snippet was supposed to only recolor the popover arrow but
ended up also recoloring the > arrow on modelbuttons that show a
submenu. Make the selector more specific.
- use even sides for the titlebuttons so the result is a circle and not an ellipse
- add maximum border radius
- set min width/height to 0
- adjust margin and padding to match the previous look
GtkPopoverMenus should mimic menus. Commit d936967b7a introduced
some CSS related to menu popovers, however, it hardcodes 'white'
as the background color. That is problematic for the dark theme.
Use '$menu_color' instead of 'white', since $menu_color both
guarantees menu popovers and menus match, and already handles
different colors for dark and light theme variants.
Instead, use a new title style class to let
themes influence title formatting. Note that
the theme style will be overridden if the
application uses markup for presentation,
such as <b> or <i>.
Make left/right cycle the active item
among the bars children. Separate the styling
for the active item from :hover, since it is
a separate state, and only mixed up in menus
for historical reasons.
The specification for border-radius goes
top-left top-right bottom-right bottom-left.
The css for the add button in the color
chooser got this wrong, and was showing
a broken top-right corner.
Closes: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1856
The spinbutton>button>image is currently blue when the image is clicked
and dark-ish when the button is clicked(but not the image). This was not
the case before since we didn't even propagate :active down to the image
child. Fix this by only applying the blue color to direct image children
of entries.
Instead of re-styling the border and radius of the linked buttons
depending on the position (middle, first, last, or only child), just
remove the border and radius in a specific direction when the button is
`:not(:first-child)` and/or `:not(:last-child)`.
This properly handles the style of linked buttons in all positions
-- middle, first, last, and only child.
Fixes#1294
We don't want to render focus rectangles on everything. With
the way focus is propagated nowadays, the theme has to selectively
render focus on certain widgets.
At the same time, we always want to render focus for this
theme, so use the focus pseudoclass, not focus(visible).

Gives the same background color to all separators descending from a
title bar than to its direct childrens.
This prevents separators which are in a titlebar but not direct children
from the widget with the titlebar style class from being almost
transparent and hence it prevent them from revealing the clear color of
the window's titlebar (black).

This patch does multiple things:
1. Add a custom persistent per-row object.
2. Move all per-row API to that object. This means notifications are now
possible.
3. Add a "passthrough" construct-only property to the TreeListModel that
influences if the model returns these new object or passes through
the ones from the model.
This greatly simplifies the code needed to be written for widgetry,
because one can just connect the per-row object to the expanders that
expand and collapse rows.
As an added power feature, these objects can also be passed through
further models (like filter models).
It also adds kind of a hack to Adwaita to make the test look neat.
Let separators be declared as sidebars to have the same style as those
drawn by GtkStackSidebar. This also let them handle the selection-mode
class, whether they are assigned it or they descend from something in
selection mode.
Also drop setting the selection mode color for non-sidebar separators.
This is convenient when building a custom sidebar using a GtkSeparator
and to extend a sidebar to the title bar.
This is needed to work around headerbar sliding animation issues without
refactoring Adwaita's support of titlebars and headerbars as it may
break applications.

This step was missed before, again.
SASS 3.6 emits rgba(0, 0, 0, 0) instead of transparent, so it wants to
change those too, but that patch was only committed in March and isn't
being backported to the previous stable, so I don't know if others'
versions will do the same - so until it's shown that anyone else (A) is
regenerating CSS and (B) also has 3.6, I'm skipping those changes. See:

The min size on the oriented axis used to come from style props with
default values in the source file, used if the theme did not provide a
min size in CSS. When the style props were removed, so was any notion of
a minimal size for proressbars' main axis, meaning that now progressbars
without expand or any other source of min size were just tiny specks.
The right place to do that was always the theme, so in our themes now,
fix that by copying the old default values for the style properties; see:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1191#note_259393https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/blob/gtk-3-24/gtk/gtkprogressbar.c#L92
The result should be the same in that (A) the min size is now what it is
in GTK+ 3 & (B) an app/user can override the theme exactly the same way.
Close https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1192
Expanders used to be 16px high. With the move from the gtk2 rendering
to gtk3 rendering they shrunk to 12px, making them hard to see, because
it's now the icon which is 16px high and the icon contains transparent
borders.
This makes the HighContrast theme use 24px icons instead, to restore
16px expanders. This may expander some containers a bit.
