1cb0b9bf6a [wasm] Rename Release to Merge in the DisjointAllocationPool
Merge better captures the upcoming usecase in the wasm native heap,
where allocating/freeing is moving the accounting of memory from
a free list to an allocated list and vice-versa - making 'Release'
an odd API when allocating.

6cd7a5a73a [wasm] Introduce the WasmContext
The WasmContext struct introduced in this CL is used to store the
mem_size and mem_start address of the wasm memory. These variables can
be accessed at C++ level at graph build time (e.g., initialized during
instance building). When the GrowMemory runtime is invoked, the context
variables can be changed in the WasmContext at C++ level so that the
generated code will load the correct values.

This requires to insert a relocatable pointer only in the
JSToWasmWrapper (and in the other wasm entry points), the value is then
passed from function to function as an automatically added additional
parameter. The WasmContext is then dropped when creating an Interpreter
Entry or when invoking a JavaScript function. This removes the need of
patching the generated code at runtime (i.e., when the memory grows)
with respect to WASM_MEMORY_REFERENCE and WASM_MEMORY_SIZE_REFERENCE.
However, we still need to patch the code at instance build time to patch
the JSToWasmWrappers; in fact the address of the WasmContext is not
known during compilation, but only when the instance is built.

The WasmContext address is passed as the first parameter. This has the
advantage of not having to move the WasmContext around if the function
does not use many registers. This CL also changes the wasm calling
convention so that the first parameter register is different from the
return value register. The WasmContext is attached to every
WasmMemoryObject, to share the same context with multiple instances
sharing the same memory. Moreover, the nodes representing the
WasmContext variables are cached in the SSA environment, similarly to
other local variables that might change during execution. The nodes are
created when initializing the SSA environment and refreshed every time a
grow_memory or a function call happens, so that we are sure that they
always represent the correct mem_size and mem_start variables.

This CL also removes the WasmMemorySize runtime (since it's now possible
to directly retrieve mem_size from the context) and simplifies the
GrowMemory runtime (since every instance now has a memory_object).

329f694678 [cleanup] Replace List with std::vector in api.
The members of HandleScopeImplementer are copied with memcpy when
the isolate is transferred to another thread. List contained some
primitives which allowed us to manually free the backing store, which
was needed in order to ensure that threads would not hold on to
old pointers and use them later. With std::vector, we can't do that.

Here we change the HandleScopeImplementer to instead use a custom
structure DetachableVector, which contains a std::vector but allows
manual detaching and freeing of the backing store. This allows us to
maintain the old behavior.

49106e4858 Add capability of throwing values in WASM
This is a second attempt at landing CL 644866 which was reverted by
CL 667019.

Extends the current implementation of WASM exceptions to be able to
throw exceptions with values (not just tags).

A JS typed (uint_16) array is used to hold the thrown values. This
allows all WASM types to be stored (i32, i64, f32, and f64) as well as
be inspected in JS.

The previous CL was reverted because the WASM compiler made calls to
run time functions with tagged objects, which must not be done. To fix
this, all run time calls use the thread-level isolate to hold the
exception being processed.

855b88ae5a [turbofan] Properly optimize literals in inlined functions.
When inlining based on SharedFunctionInfo rather than based on concrete
JSFunction, we weren't able to properly optimize array, object and
regexp literals inside the inlinee, because we didn't know the concrete
FeedbackVector for the inlinee inside JSCreateLowering. This was because
JSCreateLowering wasn't properly updated after the literals moved to the
FeedbackVector. Now with this CL we also have the VectorSlotPair on the
literal creation operators, just like we do for property accesses and
calls, and are thus able to always access the appropriate FeedbackVector
and optimize the literal creation.

The impact is illustrated by the micro-benchmark on the tracking bug,
which goes from

  createEmptyArrayLiteral: 1846 ms.
  createShallowArrayLiteral: 1868 ms.
  createShallowObjectLiteral: 2246 ms.

to

  createEmptyArrayLiteral: 1175 ms.
  createShallowArrayLiteral: 1187 ms.
  createShallowObjectLiteral: 1195 ms.

with this CL, so up to 2x faster now.

Drive-by-fix: Also remove the unused CreateEmptyObjectLiteral builtin
and cleanup the names of the other builtins to be consistent with the
names of the TurboFan operators and Ignition bytecodes.

79ac69b83c [es2015] Introduce dedicated GetTemplateObject bytecode.
Tagged templates were previously desugared during parsing using some
combination of runtime support written in JavaScript and C++, which
prevented some optimizations from happening, namely the constant folding
of the template object in TurboFan optimized code. This CL adds a new
bytecode GetTemplateObject (with a corresponding GetTemplateObject AST
node), which represents the abstract operation in the ES6 specification
and allows TurboFan to simply constant-fold template objects at compile
time (which is explicitly supported by the specification).

This also pays down some technical debt by removing the template.js
runtime support and therefore should reduce the size of the native
context (snapshot) a bit.

With this change in-place the ES6 version microbenchmark in the
referenced tracking bug is now faster than the transpiled Babel
code, it goes from

  templateStringTagES5: 4552 ms.
  templateStringTagES6: 14185 ms.
  templateStringTagBabel: 7626 ms.

to

  templateStringTagES5: 4515 ms.
  templateStringTagES6: 7491 ms.
  templateStringTagBabel: 7639 ms.

which corresponds to a solid 45% reduction in execution time. With some
further optimizations the ES6 version should be able to outperform the
ES5 version. This micro-benchmark should be fairly representative of the
six-speed-templatestringtag-es6 benchmark, and as such that benchmark
should also improve by around 50%.

3a06391166 [base] Allow comparing enums in (D)CHECKs
In the current implementation, compilation would fail because
operator<< is not defined for enum classes. For others, the compiler
finds more than one operator<<, so it fails because it's ambiguous.

This CL fixes this by printing the integer value for enums, uses the
operator<< for all values that support it, and prints "<unprintable>"
otherwise.

Also, lots of unit tests.

110d9ab005 [wasm] A simple allocator datastructure for off-the heap
We'll use this allocator in a follow-up CL to:
- allocate speculative sizes of memory for a module that's being
compiled (e.g. 2*size of wasm code).
- each module will own such a sub-pool, and then use it to allocate
contiguous chunks of memory for code.

The underlying assumptions for the chosen allocation strategy is that:
- the allocation granularity for pools is 1 page, so that no one page
is owned by more than one wasm module
- typical pool sizes (given module sizes) are multiple pages.
- modules and module instances are typically few and long lived. Typically,
we expect one module and one instance.

This means we shouldn't expect fragmentations that lead to code being
non-allocatable, or prohibitively many ranges.

The data structure just manages ranges of addresses. Virtual memory management
will be separate, as part of the responsibility of a "WasmHeap"
that will be introduced in the future. So will concurrency control.

In this CL I implement streaming compilation for WebAssembly,
as described in the design doc I have sent out already.

In this implementation the decoding of sections other than the

Eventually all decoding should happen in the background. I
think it is acceptable to do the decoding on the foreground
thread for now because I have finished it already, and
decoding in the background would add even more complexity to

6e8c00f7df Introduce an Abort bytecode and turbofan operator.
The advantage of an explicit Abort that the interpreter and the compiler know
that aborting cannot continue or throw or deopt. As a result we generate less
code and we do not confuse the compiler if the environment is not set up for
throwing (as in the generator dispatch that fails validation in
crbug.com/762057).

335c8ad009 [type-profile] Incorporate into inspector protocol.
JavaScript is a dynamically typed language. But most code is
written with fixed types in mind. When debugging JavaScript,
it is helpful to know the types of variables and parameters
at runtime. It is often hard to infer types for complex code.
Type profiling provides this information at runtime.

Node.js uses the inspector protocol. This CL allows Node.js users
to access and analyse type profile for via Node modules or the
in-procress api. Type Profile helps developers to analyze
their code for correctness and performance.

Design doc: https://docs.google.com/a/google.com/document/d/1O1uepXZXBI6IwiawTrYC3ohhiNgzkyTdjn3R8ysbYgk/edit?usp=sharing

Add `takeTypeProfile` to the inspector protocol. It returns a list
of TypeProfileForScripts, which in turn contains the type profile for
each function. We can use TypeProfile data to annotate JavaScript code.

Sample script with data from TypeProfile:
function f(/*Object, number, undefined*/a,
           /*Array, number, null*/b,
           /*boolean, Object, symbol*/c) {
  return 'bye';
/*string*/};
f({}, [], true);
f(3, 2.3, {a: 42});
f(undefined, null, Symbol('hello'));/*string*/

f1ec44e2f5 [turbofan] Optimize fast enum cache driven for..in.
This CL adds support to optimize for..in in fast enum-cache mode to the
same degree that it was optimized in Crankshaft, without adding the same
deoptimization loop that Crankshaft had with missing enum cache indices.
That means code like

  for (var k in o) {
    var v = o[k];
    // ...
  }

and code like

  for (var k in o) {
    if (Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty.call(o, k)) {
      var v = o[k];
      // ...
    }
  }

which follows the https://eslint.org/docs/rules/guard-for-in linter
rule, can now utilize the enum cache indices if o has only fast
properties on the receiver, which speeds up the access o[k]
significantly and reduces the pollution of the global megamorphic
stub cache.

For example the micro-benchmark in the tracking bug v8:6702 now runs
faster than ever before:

 forIn: 1516 ms.
 forInHasOwnProperty: 1674 ms.
 forInHasOwnPropertySafe: 1595 ms.
 forInSum: 2051 ms.
 forInSumSafe: 2215 ms.

Compared to numbers from V8 5.8 which is the last version running with
Crankshaft

 forIn: 1641 ms.
 forInHasOwnProperty: 1719 ms.
 forInHasOwnPropertySafe: 1802 ms.
 forInSum: 2226 ms.
 forInSumSafe: 2409 ms.

and V8 6.0 which is the current stable version with TurboFan:

 forIn: 1713 ms.
 forInHasOwnProperty: 5417 ms.
 forInHasOwnPropertySafe: 5324 ms.
 forInSum: 7556 ms.
 forInSumSafe: 11067 ms.

It also improves the throughput on the string-fasta benchmark by
around 7-10%, and there seems to be a ~5% improvement on the
Speedometer/React benchmark locally.

For this to work, the ForInPrepare bytecode was split into
ForInEnumerate and ForInPrepare, which is very similar to how it was
handled in Fullcodegen initially. In TurboFan we introduce a new
operator LoadFieldByIndex that does the dynamic property load.

This also removes the CheckMapValue operator again in favor of
just using LoadField, ReferenceEqual and CheckIf, which work
automatically with the EscapeAnalysis and the
BranchConditionElimination.

6b4dc039a6 [wasm] Refactor function body decoder
This refactoring separates graph building from wasm decoding. The
WasmGraphBuilder is just a consumer of the decoded information.
Decoding without any consumer (i.e. just validation) gets 16% faster by
this refactoring, because no TFNode* have to be stored in the value
stack, and all dynamic tests to determine whether the graph should be
build are gone (measured on AngryBots; before: 110.2 +- 3.3ms, after:
92.2 +- 3.1 ms).

This new design will allow us to also attach other consumers, e.g. a
new baseline compiler.

fe598532ec Pass Isolate pointer to String::Utf8Value/Value constructors
As part of J2V8 development (https://github.com/eclipsesource/J2V8),
we realized that we had a subtle bug in how Isolate scope was created
and it's lifetime managed, see:
https://github.com/eclipsesource/J2V8/issues/313.

Mentioned above bug was fixed, however, what we also noticed is that
V8 API has been constantly and slowly moving to such an API, in which
one has to pass Isolate explicitly to methods and/or constructors. We
found two more places that might have been overlooked. This contribution
adds passing of Isolate pointer explicitly to constructors of
String::Utf8Value and String::Value classes.

51a1514016 [Interpreter] Adapt Call bytecode handlers to drop their stack-frame.
This change adapts the Call bytecode handlers such that they don't require
a stack frame. It does this by modifying the call bytecode handler to
tail-call the Call or InterpreterPushArgsAndCall builtins. As a result, the
callee function will return to the InterpreterEntryTrampoline when it returns
(since this is the return address on the interpreter frame), which is
adapted to dispatch to the next bytecode handler. The return bytecode
handler is modified to tail-call a new InterpreterExitTramoline instead
of returning to the InterpreterEntryTrampoline.

Overall this significanlty reduces the amount of stack space required for
interpreter frames, increasing the maximum depth of recursive calls from
around 6000 to around 12,500 on x64.

25decc66ae Set the current context to the function's context when entering to LAP.
In case of LAP(lazy accessor pair), the function's creation context
must be equal to the accessor holder's creation context, so this CL
changes the current context to the accessor holder's creation context.

Note that this is the second attempt after https://crrev.com/2770003002

The change from the previous attempt is to skip looking for the
object's constructor if the object itself is a function.

Also some of Blink's LAP-context-sensitive tests got updated at
https://crrev.com/c/597990 and the rest of the tests will get
temporarily disabled at https://crrev.com/c/605408 .

The quite common empty object literal doesn't need an AllocationSite

Note: this experimentally disables pretenuring for empty object

dfc6b4ddaa [heap] New live byte tracking.
This patch changes how space size and capacity are updated in GC:
- space capacity changes only when a page added/removed from the space.
- space size is reset to zero before sweeping and incremented by
  page->live_bytes_count_ for each to-be-swept page.
- space size is refined after sweeping using the accurate
  page->allocated_bytes counter produces by the sweeper.

Invariants:
1. space.capacity = sum [page.size | for page in space].
2. After marking, before sweeping:
   a) space.size = sum [page.live_bytes_count | for page in space].
3. After sweeping, before marking ends:
   a) space.size = sum [page.allocated_bytes | for page in space].
   b) page.allocated_bytes >= (sum [object.size | for object in page] +
         page.linear_allocation_area).
   c) page.area_size = (page.allocated_bytes + page.wasted_memory +
         sum [free_list_entry.size | for free_list_entry in page].

3.b becomes equality if the mutator is not doing array trimming,
object slack tracking during sweeping.

1a3027303b [turbofan] Never generate loop exit phis for the accumulator
The accumulator should never be alive when jumping back to a loop
header, or jumping out of a loop. This means that as far as far as
TurboFan is concerned, we never need to create Phis or LoopExitValues
for the accumulator, as its value should not escape the loop.

For safety, this also augments the IsLivenessValid DCHECK in the
liveness analysis to check that the accumulator is not live in these
cases, and amends the bytecode analysis tests to kill the accumulator
where necessary to ensure this.

As a drive-by, added some comments to the more complex bytecode analysis
tests, since figuring out what they were for and how to fix them took a
non-trivial amount of time.

f9d4090b4b [wasm] Consolidate ownership of instantiation/specialization parameters
This CL consolidates ownership of parameters used to compile code (which
we always specialize) in 2 places:
- ModuleEnv for compile-time data
- WasmCompiledModule for runtime data

The parameters in question are: memory size and start; globals start;
address of indirect function tables (and their signatures, respectively);
and address to be used for wasm call sites.

Ideally, we'd collapse this down to one place, however, we need
specialization data to survive serialization. We can achieve this we get off
the GC heap and use a different wasm code serializer.

The CL:
- removes aliasing of parts of the specialization data, and moves
to using ModuleEnv as a token of passing around compile-time data, instead
of a mixture of ModuleEnv, WasmInstance, and some other structures. ModuleEnv
is responsible for providing a consistent view of the specialization data,
e.g. valid memory sizes (multiples of page size), and matching sized function
tables and signatures.

- removes WasmInstance, as its data is now contained by ModuleEnv.

- removes ModuleBytesEnv. We now pass the wire bytes explicitly. They can't
always be assumed as present (e.g. streaming compilation), and probably more
refactoring may need to happen once streaming compilation lands and we
better understand our dependencies.

Currently only A test operators had output, but since ABReducer and BCReducer

a situation where a node {x} has a use {y}, but its operators has 0 outputs,
which is inconsistent.

84dc3679d1 Move helper struct from logging.h to template-utils.h
I want to reuse the PassType helper in another CL, thus move it from
logging.h to template-utils.h, and rename it to pass_value_or_ref to
match other helpers there.
Also, add a boolean template parameter to declare whether array
dimensions should be removed. The default is to do so, which helps to
reduce the number of template instantiations by always passing arrays
as pointers.

Also, fix the usages in logging.h to actually use that helper when
instantiating other template functions. This will reduce the number of
instantiations.

And finally, we now have unit tests for the template utils, to document
what we expect, and test that this works on all architectures.

470a10015d Start migration of try/throw/catch to match proposal.
This CL does the first baby steps on moving the current (experimental)
exception handling to match that of the WebAssembly proposal.

It does the following:

1) Use exception tags instead of integers.

2) Only handle empty exception signatures (i.e. no values associated
   with the exception tag.

3) Only handle one catch clause.

4) Be sure to rethrow the exception if the exception tag does not match.

Note: There are many things that need to be fixed, and are too
numerous to list here. However, the code should have TODO's on each
missing parts of the implementation.

Also note that the code currently doesn't handle nested catch blocks,
nor does it change the throw value being an integer. Rather, the
integer value is still being thrown, and currently is the exception
tag. Therefore, we don't build an exception object. This is the reason
why this CL doesn't handle exceptions that pass values.

Also, the current implementation still can't handle multiple modules
because tag resolution (between) modules has not be implemented yet.

ad09fd60d6 [compiler-dispatcher] Pass isolate to main thread step
Rather than storing the isolate in compiler dispatcher jobs, which gets
weird for jobs that are entirely off-thread, instead pass the isolate
in when stepping on the main thread.

This makes it clearer which steps must be executed on the main thread,
as they require the caller to explicitly give them access to the
isolate.

3b334b73e9 [Compiler] Remove ability to create CompilerDispatcher jobs from parsed literal.
The approach to creating compiler dispatcher jobs for inner functions after
they had been parsed didn't provide the startup benifits we hoped for due
to the need to hold onto the whole zone memory AST while waiting for the
jobs to complete.

This CL removes the ability to create these compilation jobs (which was never
enabled by default anyway). Going forward we will potentially use the
parser task approach to parse+compile inner functions in their own job.

5ee1b7ad5a [turbofan] Add IC support for Call/ConstructWithSpread.
Properly hook up the (existing) IC slots for the CallWithSpread and
ConstructWithSpread bytecodes, and change the interpreter to collect
feedback (call counts and regular target function feedback) for those.
There's no integration with the Array constructor yet, since that
requires some yak shaving to thread through the AllocationSite to the
Array constructor stub. Once we have a solution for that, we can also
remove the current code duplication in the Call/Construct IC logic.

Also properly hook up the newly available feedback in TurboFan. This
will fix not only the missing target feedback, but more importantly
the tear-up decisions for optimization are correct now in the presence
of spread calls, and even more importantly the inlining heurstic has
proper call frequencies for those.

Some follow-up changes will be necessary to make sure we use the
feedback even for corner cases that aren't handled properly yet. Also
we should consider collecting feedback about the map of the spread
at some point to be able to always inline the spread calls.

a8176a530c [ignition] removed nop bytecode
Nop bytecodes are required only for break locations in debugger. Since nop bytecode doesn't change program state we can remove all of them.

There are at least two changes which this CL produce:
- we don't provide break position when we load local variable (still provide when load variable from global),
- we don't provide break position for statements without actual break positions (e.g. "a;") - these expressions should be super rare and user always can set breakpoint before or after this statement.

0725ff15e7 [wasm] Make signature map move-only
Signature maps should only be updated, but never copied. We had a bug
because we accidentally updated a copy of the map. This refactoring
prevents any such bugs in the future, and fixes more occurences where
we accidentally copied structs containing a signature map (the move-only
constraint also extends to all structs containing a signature map).

Drive-by: Make InstanceBuilder::NeedsWrappers const.

53553f5dcb [generators] remove SuspendFlags enum and related code
SuspendFlags was originally used by the suspend operation to determine
which field to record the bytecode offset of a suspended generator, and
the value the generator was resumed with. For async generators, await
operations would use a separate field, in order to preserve the previous
yield input value. This was important to ensure `function.sent`
continued to function correctly.

As function.sent is being retired, this allows the removal of support
for that. Given that this was the only real need for SuspendFlags in the
first place (with other uses tacked on as a hack), this involves several
other changes as well:

- Modification of MacroAssembler AssertGeneratorObject. No longer
  accepts a SuspendFlags parameter to determine which type of check to
  perform.
- Removal of `flags` operand from SuspendGenerator bytecode, and the
  GeneratorStore js-operator.
- Removal of `flags` parameter from ResumeGeneratorTrampoline builtins.
- Removal of Runtime functions, interpreter intrinsics and
  AccessBuilders associated with the [[await_input_or_debug_pos]] field
  in JSAsyncGeneratorObject, as this field no longer exists.
- Addition of a new `Yield` AST node (subclass of Suspend) in order to
  prevent the need for the other SuspendFlag values.

d594a6d9cd [turbofan] Remove ToFloat64AsInt and make ToFloat64 return a Double
Returning a double from ToFloat64 could lead to problems. If value_ has the bit
representation of a signaling NaN (sNaN), then returning it as double can cause
the signaling bit to flip, and value_ is returned as a quiet NaN (qNaN).

The usage of the Double wrapper also, makes the function ToFloat64AsInt
redundant, since the Double wrapper already has the AsUint64() method,
which returns an uint64_t.

0640cbf378 [heap] Rework ASLR for base::Platform::VirtualMemory
Currently every VirtualMemory allocation on 64-bit systems
uses a random 46-bit address hint for ASLR.

This leads to wired page leak on MacOS discovered by Erik Chen (see
crbug.com/700928 and https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/557958/):
"The Darwin kernel [as of macOS 10.12.5] does not clean up page directory
entries [PDE] created from mmap or mach_vm_allocate, even after
the region is destroyed. Using a virtual address space that is too large
causes a leak of about 1 wired [can never be paged out] page per call to
mmap(). The page is only reclaimed when the process is killed."

This patch changes VirtualMemory to accept the hint parameter explicitly.

On MacOS the hints are confined to 4GB contiguous region. Algorithm:
- On startup, set heap.mmap_region_base_ to a random address.
- For each mmap use heap.mmap_region_base_ + (random_offset % (4*GB)).

7a75da342f [Turbofan] Enable reducers to report their name to make reducer tracing clearer
Each reducer now has a virtual reducer_name function, returning its name
(the name of the class containing this reducer). This gets displayed when
using the --trace_turbo_reduction flag. Also when using this flags more
messages are displayed.

Actually when a node is replaced in-place (which is called an update
of the node), other reducers can still update it right after the
in-place replacement. When a node is really replaced (not in-place),
then we stop trying to apply reducers to it before we propagate the
reduction through the relevant nodes.

Before a message got printed only for the last reduction it went
through. So in case a node was reduced in-place several times
in a row, only the last update was printed, or none at all if after
being reduced in-place it got reduced by being replaced by another
node: only the non-in-place replacement was showed.

Now each time an in-place reduction is applied to a node, a message
gets printed.

d4a108078d Fix use of history timers in background threads.
HistoryTimer's can't run in the background because they use a timer
with a simple api of Start() and Stop(). This CL fixes this problem
by building a base class TimedHistogram that doesn't have a timer.

The class HistoryTimer is modified to use this base class so that
uses that run on the foreground thread do not need to be modified.

It also adds a new class TimedHistogramScope that defines the timer
in this class. This allows the corresopnding TimedHistogram class to
be type safe.

d54ffadfda [scopes] Fix sloppy-mode block-scoped function hoisting edge case
In edge cases such as the following, sloppy-mode block-scoped function
hoisting is expected to occur:

  eval(`
    with({a: 1}) {
      function a() {}
    }
  `)

In this case, there should be the equivalent of a var declaration
outside of the eval, which gets set to the value of the local function
a when the body of the with is executed.

Previously, the way that var declarations are hoisted out of eval
meant that the assignment to that var was an ordinary DYNAMIC_GLOBAL
assignment. However, such a lookup mode meant that the object in the
with scope received the assignment!

This patch fixes that error by marking the assignments produced by
the sloppy mode block scoped function hoisting desugaring so as to
generate a different runtime call which skips with scopes.

f073a20b69 Localize counter class member functions.
This CL takes advantage of the fact that StatsCounter is now local to
the Counters class. This includes:

1) Method StatsTable::SetCreateHistogramFunction() was only called in
one spot (in api.cc), which also called Counters::ResetHistograms()
and Counters::InitializeHistorgram(). InitializeHistogram can be
folded into Histogram.Reset().

2) Since Histogram::Reset() now regenerats the histogram, we no longer
need the field lookup_done_. Therefore there is no longer a race
between updating ptr_ and lookup_done_, making the Histogram class
thread safe.

3) Made the constructors of several classes private (except for class
Counters), minimizing the scope that they are used. When the couldn't
be moved, add comment that they were public only for test cases.

4) Removed the need for a mutex lock on StatsCounter::Reset(), since
it is now guaranteed to only be called when
StatsTable::SetCounterFunction() is called.

b42415402f [coverage] Block coverage with support for IfStatements
This CL implements general infrastructure for block coverage together with
initial support for if-statements.

Coverage output can be generated in lcov format by d8 as follows:

$ d8 --block-coverage --lcov=$(echo ~/simple-if.lcov) ~/simple-if.js
$ genhtml ~/simple-if.lcov -o ~/simple-if
$ chrome ~/simple-if/index.html

A high level overview of the implementation follows:

The parser now collects source ranges unconditionally for relevant AST nodes.
Memory overhead is very low and this seemed like the cleanest and simplest
alternative.

Bytecode generation uses these ranges to allocate coverage slots and insert
IncBlockCounter instructions (e.g. at the beginning of then- and else blocks
for if-statements). The slot-range mapping is generated here and passed on
through CompilationInfo, and is later accessible through the
SharedFunctionInfo.

The IncBlockCounter bytecode fetches the slot-range mapping (called
CoverageInfo) from the shared function info and simply increments the counter.
We don't collect native-context-specific counts as they are irrelevant to our
use-cases.

Coverage information is finally generated on-demand through Coverage::Collect.
The only current consumer is a d8 front-end with lcov-style output, but the
short-term goal is to expose this through the inspector protocol.

f0645612c4 This is a first step towards reducing the number of stores/loads when suspending/resuming a generator.
Unfortunately, even for an empty generator, we still use 8 register for various things (try-finally, copies of generator object, parser-introduced temporaries). I will try to get rid of these in separate CLs.

Changes:

- SuspendGenerator bytecode now takes register list to save.
- ResumeGenerator was split into two bytecodes:
  * Resume generator reads the state out and marks the generator as
      'executing'.
  * RestoreGeneratorRegisters reloads the registers from
      the generator.
    + this required adding support for output register list.

- Introduced generator_object_ register in the bytecode generator.
  * in subsequent CLs, I will make better use of it, the goal is
      to get rid if the .generator_object local variable.

- Taught register optimizer to flush unassigned registers.

45618a9ab5 [wasm] Make prototype flags experimental

interpreter. This is the case at least for exception handling, simd, and

Making the flags experimental keeps the fuzzer from playing around with
these flags.

72019a0428 [wasm] Streaming decoder
This CL implements a streaming decoder which takes the bytes
of a wasm module as an input, potentially split into multiple
chunks, and decodes them into segments. Each segment either
contains the payload of a whole section, or the code of a
single function. The goal is that the streaming decoder is
used for streaming compilation. That's where the interface
comes from, see
(https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/v8/include/v8.h?q=OnBytesReceived&sq=package:chromium&l=4060)

Error positions are not reported correctly at the moment. I
plan to do this in a separate CL.

540419b660 [value-serializer] Verify deserialized JSRegExp flags
One of the serializer fuzzers passes in random data to the deserializer,
which can then be used to deserialize a JSRegExp instance with random flag
contents. This can cause issues since the JSRegExp::Flag enum statically
contains kDotAll - but it is only valid to set kDotAll iff
FLAG_harmony_regexp_dotall is set.

This CL verifies deserialized flags before constructing the JSRegExp
and bails out if they are invalid.

The interpreter was already using a side table to store the pc diff for

Instead of just storing the pc diff in the side table, we now store the

Local measurements show speedups of 5-6% on average, sometimes >10%.

83c058a98c Avoid signed/unsigned warning in VC++ 2017 builds
VC++ 2017's STL doesn't suppress warnings as aggressively as prior
versions did. This causes warnings on code which mixes signed and
unsigned types. In this case a deque of unsigned integers was being
queried to see how many signed integers it contains. This could be
fixed by passing in unsigned 0, 1, and 2 to std::count but changing
the deque from unsigned to int is simpler.

9b51273278 Remove "calls eval" bit from ParseInfo and PreParseData
There's no reason to keep track, for a preparsed function itself,
whether that function calls eval. All that matters is that the ancestor
scopes are marked as having an inner scope which calls eval. The function
will have its "calls eval" bit persisted if/when it's fully parsed.

The only "behavioral" change in this patch is the removal of a DCHECK.

5930e0ab39 [asm.js] Use token position instead of stream position.
This switches the parser to use token positions (i.e. {Position})
instead of stream positions (i.e. {GetPosition}) everywhere. Access to
the latter is being removed as it is unsupported when the scanner is in
rewind state anyways. This prevents "skipping" a token when seeking.

When the incoming value to ChangeFloat64ToTagged is in Smi range, we
represent it as Smi instead of a HeapNumber. This addresses a range of
problems where TurboFan unnecessarily deoptimizes because an operation
learned Smi feedback in Ignition, but was then confronted with a tagged
HeapNumber in TurboFan, just because the value was also represented as
unboxed double somewhere in the meantime.

57afd0bb07 Reland: [ignition] Add call bytecodes for undefined receiver
Adds a collection of call bytecodes which have an implicit undefined
receiver argument, for cases such as global calls where we know that the
receiver has to be undefined. This way we can skip an LdaUndefined,
decrease bytecode register pressure, and set a more accurate
ConvertReceiverMode on the interpreter and TurboFan call.

As a side effect, the "normal" Call bytecode now becomes a rare case
(only with calls and super property calls), so we get rid of its 0-2
argument special cases and modify CallProperty[N] to use the
NotNullOrUndefined ConvertReceiverMode.

81c7135c84 [wasm] Check for UTF-8 validity of section names
According to the spec, section names must be valid UTF-8. This CL adds
a check for that.
Imported and exported names were already checked before.
In order to use the {consume_string} function from the

anonymous namespace. It now also gets a name for the string to be
parsed, for better error messages.

72d5f3848e Terminate the decoding loop more gracefully.
The decoder has the assumption that it always holds that pc <= end.
However, in the FunctionBodyDecoder, end was set to start to terminate
the decoding loop. Thereby the assumption was violated, which caused a
crash. I set end to pc now to end the decoding loop, which preserves
the assumption and terminates the loop.

d50ebde72d [wasm] Refactor wasm::Result type
- Store std::string instead of std::unique_ptr<char[]> for the error
  message.
- Remove ErrorCode, which was just kSuccess and kError anyway. Error is
  now detected on whether error_msg_ is empty or not.
- Refactor constructors for perfect forwarding; this will allow us to
  implement Result<std::unique_ptr<X*>>.
- Refactor Decoder::toResult for perfect forwarding.
- Remove output operators (operator<<) for Result; it was only used in
  the error case anyway. Print error message directly instead.
  The operator was problematic since it assumed the existence of an
  output operator for every T which is used in Result<T>.
- Remove ModuleError and FunctionError, introduce general static
  Result<T>::Error method instead.
