4aeb94a42d Use ICU for ID_START, ID_CONTINUE and WhiteSpace check
Use ICU to check ID_Start, ID_Continue and WhiteSpace even for BMP

Change LineTerminator::Is() to check 4 code points from
ES#sec-line-terminators instead of using tables and Lookup function.

Remove Lowercase::Is(). It's not used anywhere.

Update webkit/{ToNumber,parseFloat}.js to have the correct expectation
for U+180E and the corresponding expected files. This is a follow-up to
an earlier change ( https://codereview.chromium.org/2720953003 ).

Previously we threw a generic error meesage on failing hole check for

a5dfa06213 [unibrow] remove mongolian vowel separator as white space.
Unibrow is currently at Unicode version 7.0.0, which does not
include mongolian vowel separator (\u180E) as white space. In
order to appease test262 at the time however we kept it as a
whitespace.

Test262 has since then been updated. And while this is not an
update of unibrow, we are removing \u180E as white space here.

651c1b86a2 [compiler] Make --debug-code the default in debug builds.
This enables {FLAG_debug_code} by default in debug builds. The advantage
is that generated code contained within the snapshot will contain such
debug code. Before we would only get coverage for these pieces with the
no-snapshot builds, which have a meager coverage. One can still pass the
inverse --no-debug-code flag to ensure generated code remains readable
within debug builds as well.

4a5b7e32c4 Remove FLAG_min_preparse_length.
It originates from the era where we used to run a separate preparse step

is something completely different, so this flag doesn't make sense any
more.

In addition, this way we get more test coverage for preparser (for small

03f5124822 [test] Enable test status filtering by variant
This adds the possibility to address test cases in the

This is only allowed in top-level sections.

Example:

['variant == foo', {
  'test-case': [FAIL],

The test case "test-case" is marked as slow in all variants.
Additionally, in variant foo, it'll be expected to fail.

This CL also exemplifies the new feature with test cases
running under the ignition_turbofan variant. The
corresponding legacy flag is deprecated.

3cfd80d6a2 Adjust whitespace to make tests oblivious to --harmony-function-tostring
See discussion in https://codereview.chromium.org/2156303002/#msg8

With the new --harmony-function-tostring behavior, these tests would
fail without this change. This change makes the tests pass regardless
of whether or not --harmony-function-tostring is used.

All of these changes are simply inserting a space after the "function"
keyword to match the current function toString behavior. When
--harmony-function-tostring is enabled, the toString behavior matches
the spacing used in the function declaration. With the declaration
matching the current formatting, the toString behavior becomes
unaffected by --harmony-function-tostring.

46253e743d [esnext] Fix various callsites to use is_resumable, not is_generator
Async functions are built out of generators, but the
SharedFunctionInfo returns false for is_generator. is_resumable is
the broader query. This patch fixes many parts of V8 to refer
to is_resumable as appropriate.

One incidental change is to remove a check for generators extending
classes. This is part of a general check for constructors being the
only thing which can extend classes, so it is removed here and the
error message for the general case is made more accurate.

7245dabdb1 Unship ES2015 for-in initializer restrictions
We now have data that 0.011% of websites use the pattern
  for (var i = 0 in j) { ... }
This pattern was banned by ES2015, with the idea to revisit if
it presents a web compatibility problem. Informally, after
the May 2016 TC39 meeting, the new data was discussed, and there
was interest in reversing the decision. Although the specification
is not yet updated, it seems likely to come soon.

This patch turns off the flag which bans that construct, reenabling
it. The change should prevent websites from breaking.

40f345416f [Interpreter] Fix incorrect frame walking in arguments create stubs
The previous approach taken by FastNew[Sloppy,Strict,Rest]ArgumentsStub
looked at the function slot in order to skip stub frames
and find the JS frame. However, stub frames do not have a
function slot (in fact their fixed frame ends one slot
before the JS frame's function slot). Therefore, if this
location in the stub frame happens to have the function
object the create arguments stubs won't skip this frame
correctly.

Replace this approach with one where the stub is
specialized to either skip a frame if required (since
there will only ever be one extra frame on Ignition
the loop approach isn't necessary).

80803aa89e Remove RegExp.prototype.source getter compat workaround
The getter RegExp.prototype.source is specified in ES2015 to throw when
called on a non-RegExp instance, such as RegExp.prototype. We had previously
put in a compatibility workaround for all RegExp getters to make them
throw on access specifically with RegExp.prototype as the receiver; however,
we only have evidence that this is needed for properties other than source.
This patch removes the compatibility workaround for get RegExp.prototype.source

ed18aa65ea Remove support for legacy const, part 1
Now that ES2015 const has shipped, in Chrome 49, legacy const declarations
are no more. This lets us remove a bunch of code from many parts of the
codebase.

In this patch, I remove parser support for generating legacy const variables
from const declarations. This also removes the special "illegal declaration"
bit from Scope, which has ripples into all compiler backends.

Also gone are any tests which relied on legacy const declarations.

Note that we do still generate a Variable in mode CONST_LEGACY in one case:
function name bindings in sloppy mode. The likely fix there is to add a new
Variable::Kind for this case and handle it appropriately for stores in each
backend, but I leave that for a later patch to make this one completely
subtractive.

Function declarations were previously permitted by V8 in many locations

f3568ca400 Make test262 test runner check for which exception is thrown
test262 "negative" test expectations list which exception is thrown. The ES2017
draft specification is very specific about which exception class is thrown
from which path, and V8 works hard to be correct with respect to that spec.

Previously, the test262 test runner would accept any nonzero status code,
such as from a crash, or a FAIL printed out, for a negative test. This
patch makes negative tests check for the right answer using a quick-and-dirty
parsing of the exception printing from d8 to find the exception class.
It invokes d8 in a way to get a status code of 0 from thrown exceptions
so that 'negative' tests aren't actually implemented by negating the output.

Amazingly, this didn't catch any test262 failures, but I verified the extra
checking interactively by changing a negative test to expect a different type
and saw it fail.

fcff8588a5 Ship ES2015 sloppy-mode function hoisting, let, class
This patch doesn't ship all features of ES2015 variable/scoping
changes, notably omitting the removal of legacy const. I think
function hoisting, let and class in sloppy mode can stand to
themselves as a package, and the legacy const change is much
riskier and more likely to be reverted, so my intention is to
pursue those as a separate, follow-on patch.

424ef009a5 Reland of Add web compat workarounds for ES2015 RegExp semantics (patchset #3 id:40001 of https://codereview.chromium.org/1543723002/ )
Unexpectedly, websites depend on doing feature testing with
RegExp.prototype.sticky and browser testing with RegExp.prototype.toString().
ES2015 newly throws exceptions for both of these. In order to enable shipping
new ES2015 semantics, this patch puts in narrow workarounds for those two
cases, keeping their old behavior. UseCounters are added for how often
those particular cases come up, so we can see if it can be deprecated.

This reland replaces problematic legacy const usage with var, to
avoid issues with nosnap builds.

5bd4832492 [es6] Correct Function.prototype.apply, Reflect.construct and Reflect.apply.
Introduce a new Apply builtin that forms a correct and optimizable
foundation for the Function.prototype.apply, Reflect.construct and
Reflect.apply builtins (which properly does the PrepareForTailCall
as required by the ES2015 spec).

The new Apply builtin avoids going to the runtime if it is safe to
just access the backing store elements of the argArray, i.e. if you
pass a JSArray with no holes, or an unmapped, unmodified sloppy or
strict arguments object.

a5380fe9ed JSON.parse: properly deal with reviver result
When the reviver returns undefined, the property in question must be deleted
even for arrays. So far this only happened for non-array objects.

Also change the property enumeration to be spec-conformant, which is observable when the reviver modifies its "this" object directly. There are a few further issues that need to be addressed in a separate CL.

2732a6ad44 [es6] Correct parsing of regular expression literal flags.
ES6 section 12.2.8.1 states that flags for regular expression literals
must be checked during parsing and invalid flags are early errors. This
change adapts the Scanner and (Pre)Parser to act according to the spec.

This is also a prerequisite to unify the handling of literal creation
(for Objects, Arrays, Regexps, and at some point Classes).
