d1b27019d3 [include] Split out v8.h
This moves every single class/function out of include/v8.h into a
separate header in include/, which v8.h then includes so that
externally nothing appears to have changed.

Every include of v8.h from inside v8 has been changed to a more
fine-grained include.

Previously inline functions defined at the bottom of v8.h would call
private non-inline functions in the V8 class. Since that class is now
in v8-initialization.h and is rarely included (as that would create
dependency cycles), this is not possible and so those methods have been
moved out of the V8 class into the namespace v8::api_internal.

None of the previous files in include/ now #include v8.h, which means
if embedders were relying on this transitive dependency then it will
give compile failures.

v8-inspector.h does depend on v8-scripts.h for the time being to ensure
that Chrome continue to compile but that change will be reverted once
those transitive #includes in chrome are changed to include it directly.

Full design:

847f6d9aba heap: Fix TSAN race when setting a flag after page initialization
HAS_PROGRESS_BAR is set after page initialization at which point all
flags are assumed to be immutable while a GC is running.

Separating out the progress bar from flags allows setting it lazily at
allocation time.

0b5ec843cc [ptr-cage] Factor CodeRange out of MemoryAllocator and share along with ptr cage
This CL factors out a CodeRange class out of MemoryAllocator.

When V8_COMPRESS_POINTERS_IN_SHARED_CAGE is defined, there is a single
CodeRange shared by all Isolates in the process. This also turns short
builtins back for both configurations of pointer compression. When
sharing a cage, there is a single copy of the re-embedded builtins.

Since a shared pointer cage is still experimental, to avoid API churn
this CodeRange's size is not configurable and is always the maximal size
depending on the underlying platform.

Benedikt Meurer
eed0d27c2f [stack-traces] Simplify and speedup stack trace collection.
Following up on https://crrev.com/c/2689185, this CL significantly
simplifies the whole implementation of the stack trace capturing.

Before this CL, capturing any stack trace (for the purpose of the API or
Error.stack) would roughly work like this:

  1. The CaptureStackTrace() function uses the StackFrameIterator to
     walk the system stack. For each native frame it uses the
     FrameSummary abstraction to get all (including potentially inlined)
     frames. For each of those it appends a record consisting of six
     elements to a FrameArray (this holds pointers to the actual
     closures and receivers).
  2. Afterwards the FrameArray is shrinked to the required size, and a
     new FixedArray is allocated, and initialized with new
     StackTraceFrame objects where each holds a reference to the
     FrameArray, the index of the frame, and an initially uninitialized
     StackFrameInfo reference. This new FixedArray is then returned from
     CaptureStackTrace() and either stored on a message object or
     provided to the API as v8::StackTrace.

The new approach removes a lot of the machinery in between and directly
creates a FixedArray of StackFrameInfo objects in CaptureStackTrace().
These StackFrameInfo objects are directly exposed as v8::StackFrame on
the public API, and they hold the six fields that were previously stored
flat in the FrameArray. This not only avoids a lot of copying around of
data and creation of temporary objects and handles, but most importantly
unifies and simplifies the stack frame function inside StackFrameInfo,
so you no longer need to wonder which function / object might be
responsible for a certain API.

There's still a lot of room for improvement. In particular we currently
don't cache the source position for a given StackFrameInfo (or
globally), but rather recompute it every time. This is still very fast,
significantly faster than the previous approach.

There are some notable (potentially user visible) changes:

  - The CallSite#GetPosition() method now consistently returns the
    Wasm module relative bytecode offset for all Wasm frames (previously
    it'd return the function relative bytecode offset for non-asm.js
    Wasm frames).
  - The column and line numbers returned from StackFrameInfo methods are
    consistently 1-based now, instead of sometimes being 0-based (Wasm)
    and sometimes being 1-based (JS and asm.js Wasm). The only
    potentially noticable difference is that for
    CallSite#GetLineNumber() no longer returns 0 for Wasm frames, but
    that was wrong and useless anyways.
  - CallSite#GetThis() would sometimes return the_hole, another bug
    flushed out by this CL.

The CL also contains some other not noteworthy drive-by-cleanups.

Also remove Map's layout_descriptor since it was only used for double

e95e1b6234 [heap] Introduce LocalIsolate for main thread
Add a LocalIsolate for the main thread to Isolate. This LocalIsolate is
kept alive during the whole lifetime of the Isolate. The main thread
LocalIsolate starts in the Running state in contrast to the background
thread LocalIsolates (those start in Parked).

Code paths in Turbofan that used to create a LocalIsolate on the main
thread can now simply use the main thread LocalIsolate.

LocalIsolate for the main thread will help in reducing differences
between the main and background threads. The goal is that the main
thread behaves more like a background thread.

The main thread LocalIsolate should also make it simpler to share code
between main thread and background threads by using LocalIsolate for
both.

545e9dc58e [Turboprop] Only enable dynamic map checks for TurboProp.
The dynamic map check builtin loads the feedback vector from the
function's frame, therefore it doesn't work if we inline the
function. We don't do inlining on TurboProp so this is fine, but
it was possible to enable dynamic map checks on TurboFan which does.

This change prevents that, and also makes the dynamic map checks flag
specific to TurboProp and no longer an implication, which also allos
it to be switched on the command line independenly of --turboprop.

7f58ced72e [deoptimizer] Change deopt entries into builtins
While the overall goal of this commit is to change deoptimization
entries into builtins, there are multiple related things happening:

- Deoptimization entries, formerly stubs (i.e. Code objects generated
  at runtime, guaranteed to be immovable), have been converted into
  builtins. The major restriction is that we now need to preserve the
  kRootRegister, which was formerly used on most architectures to pass
  the deoptimization id. The solution differs based on platform.
- Renamed DEOPT_ENTRIES_OR_FOR_TESTING code kind to FOR_TESTING.
- Removed heap/ support for immovable Code generation.
- Removed the DeserializerData class (no longer needed).
- arm64: to preserve 4-byte deopt exits, introduced a new optimization
  in which the final jump to the deoptimization entry is generated
  once per Code object, and deopt exits can continue to emit a
  near-call.
- arm,ia32,x64: change to fixed-size deopt exits. This reduces exit
  sizes by 4/8, 5, and 5 bytes, respectively.

On arm the deopt exit size is reduced from 12 (or 16) bytes to 8 bytes
by using the same strategy as on arm64 (recalc deopt id from return
address). Before:

 e300a002       movw r10, <id>
 e59fc024       ldr ip, [pc, <entry offset>]
 e12fff3c       blx ip

After:

 e59acb35       ldr ip, [r10, <entry offset>]
 e12fff3c       blx ip

On arm64 the deopt exit size remains 4 bytes (or 8 bytes in same cases
with CFI). Additionally, up to 4 builtin jumps are emitted per Code
object (max 32 bytes added overhead per Code object). Before:

 9401cdae       bl <entry offset>

After:

 # eager deoptimization entry jump.
 f95b1f50       ldr x16, [x26, <eager entry offset>]
 d61f0200       br x16
 # lazy deoptimization entry jump.
 f95b2b50       ldr x16, [x26, <lazy entry offset>]
 d61f0200       br x16
 # the deopt exit.
 97fffffc       bl <eager deoptimization entry jump offset>

On ia32 the deopt exit size is reduced from 10 to 5 bytes. Before:

 bb00000000     mov ebx,<id>
 e825f5372b     call <entry>

After:

 e8ea2256ba     call <entry>

On x64 the deopt exit size is reduced from 12 to 7 bytes. Before:

 49c7c511000000 REX.W movq r13,<id>
 e8ea2f0700     call <entry>

After:

 41ff9560360000 call [r13+<entry offset>]

b5bf34bce7 [heap] Support collection on main thread
LocalHeap can be used on main thread, however allocation might cause a
GC which works differently on the main thread than on a background
thread. Support collection on main thread by directly performing the GC
instead of requesting the GC as done on background threads.

To allow for differentiation between main and background threads,
LocalHeap/LocalIsolate now require an additional argument.

f4376ec801 [heap] Make maximum regular code object size a runtime value.
Executable V8 pages include 3 reserved OS pages: one for the writable
header and two as guards. On systems with 64k OS pages, the amount of
allocatable space left for objects can then be quite smaller than the
page size, only 64k for each 256k page.

This means regular code objects cannot be larger than 64k, while the
maximum regular object size is fixed to 128k, half of the page size. As
a result code object never reach this limit and we can end up filling
regular pages with few large code objects.

To fix this, we change the maximum code object size to be runtime value,
set to half of the allocatable space per page. On systems with 64k OS
pages, the limit will be 32k.

Alternatively, we could increase the V8 page size to 512k on Arm64 linux
so we wouldn't waste code space. However, systems with 4k OS pages are
more common, and those with 64k pages tend to have more memory available
so we should be able to live with it.

44708a5b6f [compiler, heap] Create LocalHeap outside of ExecuteJob
Create LocalHeap directly in the Task or in GetOptimizedCodeNow and
pass its reference as argument to ExecuteJob. This allows us to create
LocalHeap differently for the main and background thread, e.g. by
passing an additional argument to the constructor in the future.
It will be required in the future anyways when the main thread will
have its own LocalHeap/LocalIsolate.

Extending the scope of LocalHeap, also made
HandleBase::IsDereferenceAllowed more precise and uncovered two
potential issues: heap accesses in
OptimizingCompileDispatcher::CompileNext and PipelineImpl::AssembleCode
with --code-comments.

LocalHeap can now be created in the parked state. Also fixed a data
race with LocalHeap's destructor publishing write barrier entries
without holding the lock.

3c508b38a2 Reland^4 "[serializer] Allocate during deserialization"
This relands commit 3f4e9bbe43.
which was a reland of c4a062a958
which was a reland of 28a30c578c
which was a reland of 5d7a29c90e

The change had an issue that embedders implementing heap tracing (e.g.
Unified Heap with Blink) could be passed an uninitialized pointer if
marking happened during deserialization of an object containing such a
pointer. Because of the 0xdeadbed0 uninitialized filler value, these
embedders would then receive the value 0xdeadbed0deadbed0 as the
'pointer', and crash on dereference.

There is, however, special handling already for null pointers in heap
tracing, also for dealing with not-yet initialized values. So, we can
make the uninitialized Smi filler be 0x00000000, and that will make such
embedded fields have a nullptr representation, making them follow the
normal uninitialized value bailouts.

In addition, it relands the following dependent changes, which are
relanding unchanged and are followup performance improvements.
Relanding them in the same change should allow for cleaner reverts
should they be needed.

This relands commit 76ad3ab597
[identity-map] Change resize heuristic

This relands commit 77cc96aa48
[identity-map] Cache the calculated Hash

This relands commit bee5b996aa
[serializer] Remove Deserializer::Initialize

This relands commit c8f73f2266
[serializer] Cache instance type in PostProcessNewObject

This relands commit 4e7c99abda
[identity-map] Remove double-lookups in IdentityMap

c7c8472ddc [cleanup] Clean up SYNCHRONIZED_ACCESSORS macro naming and its uses
We can use tag dispatching to distinguish between the synchronized and
non-synchronized accessors. Also eliminated the need of adding explicit
"synchronized" in the name when using the macros.

As a note, we currently have one case of using both relaxed and
synchronized accessors (Map::instance_descriptors).

Cleaned up:
 * BytecodeArray::source_position_table
 * Code::code_data_container
 * Code::source_position_table
 * FunctionTemplateInfo::call_code
 * Map::instance_descriptors
 * Map::layout_descriptor
 * SharedFunctionInfo::function_data

c4a062a958 Reland^2 "[serializer] Allocate during deserialization"
This is a reland of 28a30c578c
which was a reland of 5d7a29c90e

The crashes were from calling RegisterDeserializerFinished on a null
Isolate pointer, for a deserializer that was never initialised
(specifically, ReadOnlyDeserializer when ROHeap is shared).

28a30c578c Reland "[serializer] Allocate during deserialization"
This is a reland of 5d7a29c90e

This reland shuffles around the order of checks in Heap::AllocateRawWith
to not check the new space addresses until it's known that this is a new
space allocation. This fixes an UBSan failure during read-only space
deserialization, which happens before the new space is initialized.

It also fixes some issues discovered by --stress-snapshot, around
serializing ThinStrings (which are now elided as part of serialization),
handle counts (I bumped the maximum handle count in that check), and
clearing map transitions (the map backpointer field needed a Smi
uninitialized value check).

29bcdaad1d Rename legacy code kinds
CodeKind::OPTIMIZED_CODE -> TURBOFAN

Kinds are now more fine-grained and distinguish between TF, TP, NCI.

CodeKind::STUB -> DEOPT_ENTRIES_OR_FOR_TESTING

Code stubs (like builtins, but generated at runtime) were removed from
the codebase years ago, this is the last remnant. This kind is used
only for deopt entries (which should be converted into builtins) and
for tests.

5d7a29c90e [serializer] Allocate during deserialization
This patch removes the concept of reservations and a specialized
deserializer allocator, and instead makes the deserializer allocate
directly with the Heap's Allocate method.

The major consequence of this is that the GC can now run during
deserialization, which means that:

  a) Deserialized objects are visible to the GC, and
  b) Objects that the deserializer/deserialized objects point to can
     move.

Point a) is mostly not a problem due to previous work in making
deserialized objects "GC valid", i.e. making sure that they have a valid
size before any subsequent allocation/safepoint. We now additionally
have to initialize the allocated space with a valid tagged value -- this
is a magic Smi value to keep "uninitialized" checks simple.

Point b) is solved by Handlifying the deserializer. This involves
changing any vectors of objects into vectors of Handles, and any object
keyed map into an IdentityMap (we can't use Handles as keys because
the object's address is no longer a stable hash).

Back-references can no longer be direct chunk offsets, so instead the
deserializer stores a Handle to each deserialized object, and the
backreference is an index into this handle array. This encoding could
be optimized in the future with e.g. a second pass over the serialized
array which emits a different bytecode for objects that are and aren't
back-referenced.

Additionally, the slot-walk over objects to initialize them can no
longer use absolute slot offsets, as again an object may move and its
slot address would become invalid. Now, slots are walked as relative
offsets to a Handle to the object, or as absolute slots for the case of
root pointers. A concept of "slot accessor" is introduced to share the
code between these two modes, and writing the slot (including write
barriers) is abstracted into this accessor.

Finally, the Code body walk is modified to deserialize all objects
referred to by RelocInfos before doing the RelocInfo walk itself. This
is because RelocInfoIterator uses raw pointers, so we cannot allocate
during a RelocInfo walk.

As a drive-by, the VariableRawData bytecode is tweaked to use tagged
size rather than byte size -- the size is expected to be tagged-aligned
anyway, so now we get an extra few bits in the size encoding.

b24d8de18b [heap] Fix tracking of code pages for V8 stack unwinder (attempt #2)
When a compaction space allocates a new code page, that pages needs to
be added to the Isolate::code_pages_ array used for stack unwinding.
Since the array is owned by the main thread, compaction thread cannot
directly modify it. Because of that code pages are added upon merging
of the compaction space to the main space in MergeLocalSpace.

The bug was that all code pages coming from the compaction space
were added to the code_pages_ array. However, some of the pages are
not newly allocated but merely borrowed from the main space.

This CL keeps track of all newly allocated paged by a compaction space.

695d9b64ff [snapshot] Reland recent de/serializer related changes
This reverts commit 1aa9ab7384.

The reverted CL chain had an issue where ThinStrings could accidentally
end up in compilation artifacts, causing issues down the line with ICs
that expected direct internalized strings.

The reason for this bug was that forward references to internalized
strings were resolved before PostProcessNewObject. When this happened,
the internalized string A would be written to the field where it was
previously deferred, then PostProcessNewObject would change string A to
string A', and update string A to a ThinString. This means any _future_
back references to A would see the ThinString and follow it to receive
A', but any _past_ forward references would keep pointing to the
ThinString A.

This reland fixes this by preventing InternalizedString deferral, so
that all references to InternalizedStrings are back references. It also
adds some additional verification to the heap verifier that constant
pools and object boilerplate descriptors aren't allowed to hold thin
strings.

This patch also fixes an additional bug in the original CL, where weak
forward refs weren't being serialized with a weak prefix.

This CL ensures that the young generation is evacuated before the old

Additionally, the CL cleans up usages of CanExpandOldGeneration.

7173685975 [heap] Add large_object_threshold to AllocateRaw
This commit adds a check in Heap::AllocateRaw when setting the
large_object variable, when the AllocationType is of type kCode, to
take into account the size of the CodeSpace's area size.

The motivation for this change is that without this check it is
possible that size_in_bytes is less than 128, and hence not considered
a large object, but it might be larger than the available space
in code_space->AreaSize(), which will cause the object to be created
in the CodeLargeObjectSpace. This will later cause a segmentation fault
when calling the following chain of functions:

   if (!large_object) {
      MemoryChunk::FromHeapObject(heap_object)
          ->GetCodeObjectRegistry()
          ->RegisterNewlyAllocatedCodeObject(heap_object.address());
   }

We (Red Hat) ran into this issue when running Node.js v12.16.1 in
combination with yarn on aarch64 (this was the only architecture that
this happed on).

This also rejiggles the order of the general spaces enum so that the new

f1589bbe11 [offthread] Change OffThreadIsolate to LocalIsolate
This patch introduces a new LocalIsolate and LocalFactory, which use
LocalHeap and replace OffThreadIsolate and OffThreadFactory. This allows
us to remove those classes, as well as the related OffThreadSpace,
OffThreadLargeObjectSpace, OffThreadHeap, and OffThreadTransferHandle.
OffThreadLogger becomes LocalLogger.

LocalHeap behaves more like Heap than OffThreadHeap did, so this allows
us to additionally remove the concept of "Finish" and "Publish" that the
OffThreadIsolate had, and allows us to internalize strings directly with
the newly-concurrent string table (where the implementation can now move
to FactoryBase).

This patch also removes the off-thread support from the deserializer
entirely, as well as removing the LocalIsolateWrapper which allowed
run-time distinction between Isolate and OffThreadIsolate. LocalHeap
doesn't support the reservation model used by the deserializer, and we
will likely move the deserializer to use LocalIsolate unconditionally
once we figure out the details of how to do this.

d88df03a97 [turboprop] Don't use weak pointers across TryMigrateInstance calls
We shouldn't spill weak pointers onto the stack when calling functions

from the feedback vector across the TryMigrateInstance function call.
The feedback can be a weak pointer to receiver map for monomorphic cases
and TryMigrateInstance can trigger a GC. This cl fixes it by holding
a holding a strong reference to the feedback.

ab8368dfdb [heap] Remove PagedSpace::SizeOfObjects
PagedSpace::SizeOfObjects() then returns exactly the same value as
PagedSpace::Size(). SizeOfObjects() used to deduct the current LAB,
however this is now more difficult with local heaps. Accessing the
main thread LAB from concurrent threads causes a data race. Also
LocalHeaps have their own LAB, which should be deducted as well to be
uniform with the main thread. However this would be tricky and expensive.
The simpler solution is to do not deduct the main thread LAB anymore.

c51041f454 [nci] Replace CompilationTarget with a new Code::Kind value
With the new Turbofan variants (NCI and Turboprop), we need a way to
distinguish between them both during and after compilation. We
initially introduced CompilationTarget to track the variant during
compilation, but decided to reuse the code kind as the canonical spot to
store this information instead.

Why? Because it is an established mechanism, already available in most
of the necessary spots (inside the pipeline, on Code objects, in
profiling traces).

This CL removes CompilationTarget and adds a new
NATIVE_CONTEXT_INDEPENDENT kind, plus helper functions to determine
various things about a given code kind (e.g.: does this code kind
deopt?).

As a (very large) drive-by, refactor both Code::Kind and
AbstractCode::Kind into a new CodeKind enum class.

This is a followup of the cl [1] that fixes a bug where bytecode was

IsCompiledScope before allocating a new feedback vector. We now pass
IsCompiledScope to JSFunction::EnsureFeedbackVector. This makes it
explicit that EnsureFeedbackVector expects a function that is compiled
and the bytecode shouldn't be flushed during the allocation.Also adds

bbc8f787f0 [offthread] Make publish merging and handle fixup atomic
Make sure that any GCs required for off-thread heap merging happen
before any off-thread handle transferring (both transferring using
OffThreadTransferHandle, and the handles created for the string slot
fixups). This is to avoid the marker from walking Handle roots that
point into off-thread pages which the sweeper doesn't see (and can't
clear mark bits on)

Now, the merging and handle creation is atomic as far as the GC is
concerned. The merging is done before handle creation to avoid the
incremental marker from entering off-thread pages, but we ensure that
the raw objects pointers that point into the off-thread pages (which
are used for creating the main-thread handles) stay valid until the
handle creation completes.

Since handle transfer now happens in the middle of publishing, this
patch also moves the OffThreadTransferHandleStorage ownership over to
OffThreadHeap. This requires some header juggling to avoid leaking
OffThreadTransferHandleStorage into the off-thread-isolate header.

93cfa4587b [heap] Add SharedReadOnlySpace for shared RO_SPACE
When RO_SPACE is to be shared, this constructs SharedReadOnlySpace
object (via ReadOnlySpace::DetachPagesAndAddToArtifacts) that contains
the shared artifacts and the original ReadOnlySpace is destroyed. This
is mostly a conceptual change and SharedReadOnlySpace behaves
identically to ReadOnlySpace (and subclasses it).

Also adds ReadOnlyArtifacts that contains the shared artifacts and which
is stored as a std::weak_ptr in a global so it can be destroyed when all
std::shared_ptrs to it are destroyed. Since this allows the ReadOnlyHeap
to be reconstructed when all Isolates are destroyed,
ReadOnlyHeap::ClearSharedHeapForTest is removed along with all uses
since that is now done automatically.

The ReadOnlyArtifacts class now owns all the shared artifacts and is
responsible for deleting them on exit (mostly via unique_ptr).

8e8a06fac9 [heap] Fix an out-of-bounds access in the marking bitmap
Deserializer can trigger OOB read in the marking bitmap inside the
RegisterDeserializedObjectsForBlackAllocation function. This happens
for example if an internalized string is deserialized as the last object
on a page and is the turned into a thin-string leaving a one-word filler
at the end of the page. In such a case IsBlack(filler) will try to fetch
a cell outside the marking bitmap.

The fix is to increase the size of the marking bitmap by one cell, so
that it is always safe to query markbits of any object on a page.

b097a8e5de [api] Create v8::String::NewFromLiteral that returns Local<String>
String::NewFromLiteral is a templated function that takes a char[N]
argument that can be used as an alternative to String::NewFromUtf8 and
returns a Local<String> rather than a MaybeLocal<String> reducing the
number of ToLocalChecked() or other checks.

Since the string length is known at compile time, it can statically
assert that the length is less than String::kMaxLength, which means that
it can never fail at runtime.

This also converts all found uses of NewFromUtf8 taking a string literal
or a variable initialized from a string literal to use the new API. In
some cases the types of stored string literals are changed from const
char* to const char[] to ensure the size is retained.

This API does introduce a small difference compared to NewFromUtf8. For
a case like "abc\0def", NewFromUtf8 (using length -1 to infer length)
would treat this as a 3 character string, whereas the new API will treat
it as a 7 character string.

As a drive-by fix, this also fixes all redundant uses of
v8::NewStringType::kNormal when passed to any of the String::New*
functions.

bd02f663d3 heap: Improved incremental scheduling for unified heap
When the embedder integrates in V8's garbage collector the performance
of the atomic phase is sensitive to how much embedder memory is found
through marking the overall transitive closure.

Before this patch, V8 would help out tracing the embedder's heap when
making progress through tasks but not on allocations. In addition, V8
would complete the garbage collection when it has observed it's own
marking worklists as empty 3 times (*). This can create performance
cliffs when there's a lot of work still to be done on the embedder
side.

This patch adds helping steps on allocation that are proportional to
the bytes that V8 would otherwise process, guaranteeing some progress
as long as there's V8 allocations. This allows us to remove (*).

Potential Tradeoffs:
- More time spent in V8's garbage collection metrics as we slightly
  limit the chances for the embedder to mark objects through tasks.
- Prolonged V8.execute time (JS execution)
+ Faster progress
+ Less memory
+ Smaller atomic pause time

This unifies marking worklists handling by the main thread marker and
by the concurrent markers. A new class called MarkingWorklistsHolder

marking worklists by creating an instance of MarkingWorklists.

Additionally, marking visitors now work on MarkingWorklists instead of
accessing each worklist individually.

Besides cleaning the code up, this CL provides a bottleneck for
implementing per-context worklists.

74565bf390 [test] Make full space simulation work with --no-inline-new.
When inlined allocations are disabled, the space->limit() does not point to the
end of the current page. Instead, it points to the current allocation pointer so
is the same as space->top().

See how the limit is computed, if heap()->inline_allocation_disabled(), then the
limit will be the same as the requested allocation area:

```
Address SpaceWithLinearArea::ComputeLimit(Address start, Address end,
                                          size_t min_size) {
  DCHECK_GE(end - start, min_size);
  if (heap()->inline_allocation_disabled()) {
    // Fit the requested area exactly.
    return start + min_size;
  } else if (SupportsInlineAllocation() && AllocationObserversActive()) {
    // ...
  } else {
    // The entire node can be used as the linear allocation area.
    return end;
  }
}
```

If we want to simulate filling up a whole page in the new space, we can instead
look at the ToSpace's page_high() which will be the end of the current page in
which we're allocating.

91e6421ccb [torque] Use generated instance types, part 1
This change begins making use of the fact that Torque now knows about
the relationship between classes and instance types, to replace a few
repetitive lists:

- Instance type checkers (single and range), defined in
  src/objects/instance-type.h
- Verification dispatch in src/diagnostics/objects-debug.cc
- Printer dispatch in src/diagnostics/objects-printer.cc
- Postmortem object type detection in
  tools/debug_helper/get-object-properties.cc

Torque is updated to generate four macro lists for the instance types,
representing all of the classes separated in two dimensions: classes
that correspond to a single instance type versus those that have a
range, and classes that are fully defined in Torque (with fields and
methods inside '{}') versus those that are only declared. The latter
distinction is useful because fully-defined classes are guaranteed to
correspond to real C++ classes, whereas only-declared classes are not.

A few other changes were required to make the lists above work:

- Renamed IsFiller to IsFreeSpaceOrFiller to better reflect what it does
  and avoid conflicts with the new macro-generated IsFiller method. This
  is the part I'm most worried about: I think the new name is an
  improvement for clarity and consistency, but I could imagine someone
  typing IsFiller out of habit and introducing a bug. If we'd prefer to
  keep the name IsFiller, my other idea is to rename FreeSpace to
  VariableSizeFiller and Filler to FixedSizeFiller.
- Made Tuple3 extend from Struct, not Tuple2, because IsTuple2 is
  expected to check for only TUPLE2_TYPE and not include TUPLE3_TYPE.
- Normalized the dispatched behavior for BigIntBase and HeapNumber.
- Added a few new object printers.

2b8dab42e5 [heap] Insert into old-to-new slots non-atomically
Since https://crrev.com/c/1771783 the mutator owns the old-to-new
remembered set, while the sweeper modifies the sweeping-slot-set.
This allows us to update the old-to-new remembered set non-atomically.

In this CL the mutator now inserts non-atomically into the remembered
set. The AccessMode is now explicit for Insert-operations as well.

a0d01b658f [heap] GC should not retain filler objects tracked by deferred handles
Added tests for the scenario when the fillers would be evacuated within the
new space and when they would be promoted into the old space.

The fix is to treat the deferred handles the same as the local ones:
call FixStaleLeftTrimmedHandlesVisitor for them.

9a9ba762bf Revert "Use list of invalidated objects for old-to-new refs"
This reverts commit 60843b426b.

Reason for revert: TSAN detected issue between Scavenge workers.

60843b426b Use list of invalidated objects for old-to-new refs
Instead of inserting "deletion" entries into the store buffer, keep a
list of invalidated objects to filter out invalid old-to-new slots.

The first CL https://crrev.com/c/1704109 got reverted because both the
sweeper and the main task were modifying the invalidated slots data
structure concurrently. This CL changes this, such that the sweeper
only modifies the invalidated slots during the final atomic pause when
the main thread is not running. The sweeper does not need to clean this
data structure after the pause, since the "update pointers" phase
already removed all invalidated slots.

The second CL https://crrev.com/c/1733081 got reverted because the
sweeper might find more free space than the full GC before it. If an
object shrinks after the pause but before the sweep, the invalidated
object might span free memory and potentially new allocated objects.
Therefore shrink invalidated objects when processing swept pages on
the main thread. Also clean recorded slots in the gap.
