fed1364adf [Compiler] Ensure TurboFan holds onto BytecodeArray to keep it alive.
With Bytecode flushing, the a SharedFunctionInfo's bytecode might be flushed
while the compiler is expecting it to still exist. Rather than continually
getting the bytecode from the SFI, instead bottleneck the points where we get
BytecodeArray from SFIs and maintain an explicit strong reference to the
BytecodeArray from that point onwards to prevent flushing.

7aac6bc905 [cleanup] Make unicode predicate cache tables static
Moves the unicode predicate cache tables out of the unicode cache,
and turns them into generic predicates in char-predicates.h which
use static constexpr tables.

This drops the per-isolate cost of unicode caches, and removes the
need for accessing the unicode cache from most files. It does remove
the mutability of the cache, which means that there may be regressions
when parsing non-ASCII identifiers. Most likely the benefits to ASCII
identifiers/keywords will outweigh any non-ASCII costs.

15c31fe461 [turbofan] Add support for huge DataViews.
This introduces Word64 support for the CheckBounds operator, which now
lowers to either CheckedUint32Bounds or CheckedUint64Bounds after the
representation selection. The right hand side of CheckBounds can now
be any positive safe integer on 64-bit architectures, whereas it remains
Unsigned31 for 32-bit architectures. We only use the extended Word64
support when the right hand side is outside the Unsigned31 range, so
for everything except DataViews this means that the performance should
remain the same. The typing rule for the CheckBounds operator was
updated to reflect this new behavior.

The CheckBounds with a right hand side outside the Unsigned31 range will
pass a new Signed64 feedback kind, which is handled with newly introduced
CheckedFloat64ToInt64 and CheckedTaggedToInt64 operators in representation
selection.

The JSCallReducer lowering for DataView getType()/setType() methods was
updated to not smi-check the [[ByteLength]] and [[ByteOffset]] anymore,
but instead just use the raw uintptr_t values and operate on any value
(for 64-bit architectures these fields can hold any positive safe
integer, for 32-bit architectures it's limited to Unsigned31 range as
before). This means that V8 can now handle huge DataViews fully, without
falling off a performance cliff.

This refactoring even gave us some performance improvements, on a simple
micro-benchmark just exercising different DataView accesses we go from

  testDataViewGetUint8: 796 ms.
  testDataViewGetUint16: 997 ms.
  testDataViewGetInt32: 994 ms.
  testDataViewGetFloat64: 997 ms.

to

  testDataViewGetUint8: 895 ms.
  testDataViewGetUint16: 889 ms.
  testDataViewGetInt32: 888 ms.
  testDataViewGetFloat64: 890 ms.

meaning we lost around 10% on the single byte case, but gained 10% across
the board for all the other element sizes.

4942076091 [cleanup] Don't declare inline runtime functions by default
For each intrinsic/runtime function we define in runtime.h, an inline
version is automatically declared. We only ever use 24 of the inline
functions. Even though we don't call the other ones, macro magic means
they still take up space by existing in various arrays and tables like
kIntrinsicFunctions. They also create code in switch statements.

Some drive-by cleanups:
 - Remove the switch in NameForRuntimeId() and just use the table of
runtime functions to lookup the name directly.
 - Remove tests for IsFunction, ClassOf and StringAdd intrinsics as
they are the last users of the inline versions of these.
 - Remove the MaxSmi inline version as it is only used in tests.

Saves 64 KiB binary size.

bb5724283f [turbofan] Word64 conversions are lossless for Int64/Uint64 values.
Teach TurboFan about representation changes from Float64 to Word64 where
the input value is already known to be within the Int64 or Uint64 range.
While not all of these values have representations in Float64, those
that do can be converted to Word64 without loss of precision.

Same is true for Tagged to Word64 conversions, although here we don't
(currently) need the case for Uint64 ranges, so we can skip adding an
operator for that until it becomes necessary (there's a hard check in
the code so it'll not silently cause trouble).

0c296cb229 [turbofan] Initial support to compute NumberAdd/NumberSubtract in Word64.
This change introduces the necessary conversion operators to convert
from Word64 to other representations (Tagged, Word32, Float64, etc.),
and plugs in the Word64 representation for NumberAdd/NumberSubtract,
such that TurboFan will go to Int64Add/Sub on 64-bit architectures
when the inputs and the output of the operation is in safe integer
range. This includes the necessary changes to the Deoptimizer to be
able to rematerialize Int64 values as Smi/HeapNumber when going back
to Ignition later.

This change might affect performance, although measurements indicate
that there should be no noticable performance impact.

The goal is to have TurboFan support Word64 representation to a degree
that changing the TypedArray length to an uint64_t (for 64-bit archs)
becomes viable and doesn't have any negative performance implications.
Independent of that we might get performance improvements in other areas
such as for crypto code later.

6346cdb649 [turbofan] Initial Word64 support in representation selection.
This adds support to TurboFan's representation selection for the Word64
representation, and makes use of that to handle indices for memory access
and allocation instructions (i.e. LoadElement, StoreElement, Allocate,
etc.). These instructions had previously used Word32 as representation
for the indices / sizes, and then internally converted it to the correct
representation (aka Word64 on 64-bit architectures) later on, but that
was kind of brittle, and sometimes led to weird generated code.

The change thus only adds support to convert integer values in the safe
integer range from all kinds of representations to Word64 (on 64-bit
architectures). We don't yet handle the opposite direction and none of
the representation selection heuristics for the numeric operations were
changed so far. This will be done in follow-up CLs.

This CL itself is supposed to be neutral wrt. functionality, and only
serves as a starting point, and a cleanup for the (weird) implicit
Word64 index/size handling.

1a5df8ebeb [wasm] Remove WasmCompilationData
The WasmCompilationData was a struct that served as an input/output
mechanism for communicating with the code generator. In particular,
it contained a flag for enabling runtime exception for WASM in the code
generator and it also gathered the protected instruction info from
the code generator to be communicated to the WasmCodeManager.

This CL inlines the exception support flag into OptimizedCompilationInfo
and the protected instruction information into the code generator,
along the lines of other flags and data structures created by the
code generator.

lowering pass, and then refrain from reading the heap in that pass.
This CL prepares the broker machinery by introducing a hash table that
maps an object (handle) to the corresponding cached data. For the time
being, that cached data is essentially just the handle itself.

4f19dac984 [explicit isolates] Remove final GetIsolate/GetHeaps
Strictly speaking there are some left in api.cc, but they are in
deprecated functions with non-deprecated alternatives.

Apart from changes made using tooling, this also modifies
FieldType::AsClass to return Map* rather than Handle<Map> and converts
its call sites to create the Handle when they need it - currently
several sites immediately dereference the Handle.

Also marks WasmDebugInfo as NeverReadOnlySpaceObject so GetIsolate and
GetHeap remain usable.

13b899a5f9 [cleanup] Remove Isolate parameter from object print
With ReadOnlyRoots and GetIsolate on JSReceiver, we can remove almost
every isolate parameter from <Object>::Print. The remaining ones, like
Map, are special-caseable for read-only maps, and as a result we can
remove isolate parameters from <Object>::Print entirely.

This patch also opportunistically cleans up a few places where isolates
were only needed for Object::Print, such as TransitionAccessors and
DescriptorArrays.

ad57eec545 [wasm] Store WasmModule directly in the NativeModule
Instead of storing both the {NativeModule} and the {WasmModule} in a
{Managed} object, just store the {WasmModule} in the {NativeModule}
directly. This fixes crashes that happen if the {Managed<WasmModule>}
dies before the {Managed<NativeModule>}.

edec05ea73 [explicit isolates] Pass Isolate to Object::Print
All Object::Print functions now take an Isolate* parameter. Various
XX::XXPrint functions now take an Isolate if it's needed rather than
calling GetIsolate(). Such method use DECL_PRINTER_WITH_ISOLATE rather
than DECL_PRINTER.

The _v8_internal_Print_ function (intended for use in gdb) now uses
Isolate::Current() to get hold of an Isolate.

Reduces the GetIsolate and GetHeap count by 9 and 5 respectively.

Also removes unneeded gdb/lldb macros (along with their support
functions), jfv, jfm, jda and jta, since job does the same thing.

3cb376dc83 Make CallInterfaceDescriptor isolate-independent
Currently each isolate stores its own array of
{CallInterfaceDescriptorData}. This array has size 173, and each entry
has 40 bytes. That's already 7kB per isolate.
Additionally, each {CallInterfaceDescriptorData} allocates two
heap-allocated arrays, which probably add up to more than the static
size of the {CallInterfaceDescriptorData}. Note that all the
{CallInterfaceDescriptorData} instances are initialized eagerly on
isolate creation.

Since {CallInterfaceDescriptor} is totally isolate independent itself,
this CL refactors the current design to avoid a copy of them per
isolate, and instead shares them process-wide. Still, we need to free
the allocated heap arrays when the last isolate dies to avoid leaks.
This can probably be refactored later by statically initializing more
and avoiding the heap allocations all together.

This refactoring will also allow us to use {CallInterfaceDescriptor}s
from wasm background compilation threads, which are not bound to any
isolate.

39496a95c5 Replace Context::closure with Context::scope_info, allowing closure to die.
There are likely cleanups that can be done after this CL:
- context-related functions in the interpreter and compiler take ScopeInfo as
well as ScopeType and slot-count as input. The latter 2 should be directly
derived from the former. We should be able to drop FunctionContextParameters.
- ContextExtension is probably not needed anymore, since we now always have the
correct scope_info directly in the SCOPE_INFO_INDEX slot.

f53dfd934d Replace array index masking with the poisoning approach.
The idea is to mark all the branches and loads participating in array
bounds checks, and let them contribute-to/use the poisoning register.
In the code, the marks for array indexing operations now contain
"Critical" in their name. By default (--untrusted-code-mitigations),
we only instrument the "critical" operations with poisoning.

With that in place, we also remove the array masking approach based
on arithmetic.

Since we do not propagate the poison through function calls,
we introduce a node for poisoning an index that is passed through
function call - the typical example is the bounds-checked index
that is passed to the CharCodeAt builtin.

Most of the code in this CL is threads through the three levels of
protection (safe, critical, unsafe) for loads, branches and flags.

e2ab7dae47 [turbofan] Stop mis-using Type* to represent integers.
This is part of the effort to decrease the amount of undefined behavior.
that v8 relies on.

The main change here is to represent types with class Type rather than
with pointer Type*. To make the CL smaller, I used an operator overload
hack to separate the change from `->` to `.`. I am working on a CL that
will remove the operator and change all those arrows to dots.

8466b71ad8 [wasm] Split off wasm-linkage.h
Linkage-related methods were declared in wasm-compiler.h and
implemented in wasm-linkage.cc. This required all users of e.g. wasm
call descriptors to include the whole wasm compiler header. Also, some
wasm linkage information is independent of turbofan and also used
outside of the compiler directory.

This CL splits off wasm-linkage.h (with minimal includes) and puts it
in src/wasm. This allows to use that information without including
compiler headers (will clean up several uses in follow-up CLs).

fa0e55e2f4 [test] Fix CHECK_DOUBLE_EQ and CHECK_FLOAT_EQ
Both macros currently call a function with individual CHECKs, which
makes error messages only show that one part of the equality check (and
not the the actual float values), and hides the actual location of the
check.
This CL refactors this such that the actual value is shown (just as
with other CHECK_EQ macros) and it shows the right file name and line
number.

2a3c2c73d5 Reland: [refactoring] Remove the isolate from signatures of ExternalReferences
I missed one required change which was hidden behind an #if. The fix is in
the diff between Patch 1 and Patch 3.

Original message:
In this CL I remove the isolate from signatures of ExternalReference
accessor functions where the isolate is not used. The uses of the
isolate were already removed in previous CLs.

Changes:
* I split the ExternalReference list in external-reference.h into
those which need the isolate for initialization and those which do not.

* I removed the public constructors and replaced them by
ExternalReference::Create(). The reason is to separate external
creation more clearly from internal creation, because externally
created ExternalReferences sometimes need redirection, whereas
internally created ExternalReferences are just stored as they are.
In addition, by removing the isolate from the signature of the
public constructors, they suddenly exactly matched the interal
  constructor.

* Replace all uses of the public constructors with
  ExternalReference::Create().

* Remove the isolate from all call sites where necessary.

This is a step towards making WebAssembly compilation independent of
the isolate.

Wasm tier-up first compiles the whole module using Liftoff, and then
using Turbofan. The idea is to achieve fast start-up times by first

as Turbofan finished compilation, thus achieving high performance.
Tier-up is enabled through the flag FLAG_wasm_tier_up.

8d2d0513c3 [wasm] Simplify C calls
Instead of passing multiple pointers to input and output, or to two
input values, just pass one pointer which holds all inputs and where
the output is written.
This also reduces the size of generated Turbofan graphs, since only one
stack slot is needed and less arguments are passed to the call.
It also fixes undefined behaviour, since we were passing a pointer e.g.
as {uint64_t*}, but accessed it using {ReadUnalignedValue}. Now we pass
an Address, which does not have any alignment constraints.

By using the WasmInstanceObject as the context for WASM code execution,

f1e979a9c8 [cctest] Test parallel moves with near and far ranges.
The AssembleMove and AssembleSwap tests would only perform moves on stack
parameters. This limits us to testing with slots that are likely to be in range
of loads and stores. As well as only testing memory accesses with positive
offsets relative to the frame pointer.

This patch addresses these limitations by moving half of the stack parameters
into spill slots, to then perform moves on them. Additionally, to increase
ranges, we create articial space between each spilled slot.

As a drive-by, allow giving custom names to code objects created with the
CodeAssemblerTester. It helps a lot inspecting disassembly.

And finally, this CL uncovered a bug where I had forgotten to initialize
FixedArrays, which would make the incremental marker crash.

7b29fe434d Rename Code::instruction_{start,end,size} functions
In order to clarify the difference between, e.g., InstructionStart and
instruction_start, rename as follows:

Code::instruction_start -> raw_instruction_start
Code::instruction_end   -> raw_instruction_end
Code::instruction_size  -> raw_instruction_size

The difference between the camel-case and raw_* function families is
in how they handle off-heap-trampoline Code objects. For example, when
called on an off-heap-trampoline: raw_instruction_start returns the
trampoline's entry point, while InstructionStart returns the off-heap
code's entry point (located in the .text section of the binary).

Some callsites were updated to call the camel-case function family as
appropriate.

With the Ignition + Turbofan pipeline there is very little overlap between the data

cleaner to split up the CompilationInfo into UnoptimizedCompilationInfo and
OptimizedCompilationInfo.

Doing so also necessitate splitting up CompilationJob into UnoptimizedCompilationJob
and OptimizedCompilationJob - again there is not much overlap so this seems cleaner.

57bf0bfefb [wasm] Merge the WasmContext into WasmInstanceObject
This change makes lifetime management of WasmCode much simpler.
By using the WasmInstanceObject as the context for WASM code execution,
including the pointer to the memory base and indirect function tables,
this keeps the instance alive when WASM code is on the stack, since
the instance object is passed as a parameter and spilled onto the stack.
This is in preparation of sharing the code between instances and
isolates.

1ef6c4374e [turbofan] unify interpreter and JIT speculation poisoning
This CL changes the poisoning in the interpreter to use the
infrastructure used in the JIT.

This does not change the original flag semantics:

--branch-load-poisoning enables JIT mitigations as before.

--untrusted-code-mitigation enables the interpreter mitigations
(now realized using the compiler back-end), but does not enable
the back-end based mitigations for the Javascript JIT. So in effect
--untrusted-code-mitigation makes the CSA pipeline for bytecode handlers
use the same mechanics (including changed register allocation) that
  --branch-load-poisoning enables for the JIT.

ba5409a6fd [wasm] Make multi-return tests wasm-specific
The multi-return tests and fuzzer used a custom call descriptor which
was based on the default RegisterConfiguration. This meant that for the
tests, all available registers could be used to pass parameters and to
return values. This caused a problem, because in some cases we need a
scratch register in the frame deconstruction.

With this CL I change both the tests and the fuzzer to use the
WebAssembly call descriptor. Thereby we only use 2 registers for
returns, and one of the other registers can be used as scratch
register.

WebAssembly is the only use case at the moment which wants to return
values not only through registers but also over the stack. Therefore
I think it's acceptable to only test the WebAssembly usecase.

a33353a00f [instruction scheduler] Fix issue with block terminators and deopts.
Remove IsBlockTerminator and introduce InstructionScheduler::AddTerminator in
order to handle block terminator instructions.

Instead of the kBlockTerminator flags, we now rely on Instruction::IsTrap(),
Instruction::IsDeoptimizeCall() and explicitly denoting block terminators
when adding them with InstructionScheduler::AddTerminator().

IsBlockTerminator incorrectly included deopts when they were not at the end of
a block, which meant that an instruction with side effects could have been
reordered with respect to a deopt as the deopt was not identified correctly.

Since the snapshot does not contain deopts, this is not causing any problems
at the moment (the scheduler is only enabled on the snapshot).

383ec7b506 [turbofan] IA32 port of branch load poisoning.
The tricky part here is to take away one register from register
allocation for the mask. The only problem is with calls that need
an input operand to be passed in the poison register. For such calls,
we change the register constraint in the instruction selector
to pass the value in whatever place the register allocator sees fit.
During code generation, we then copy the value from that place
to the poison register. By that time, the mask is not necessary
(once we bake the mask into the target, it should be done before
this move).

For the branches, the mask update does not use cmov (unlike x64)
because cmov does not take an immediate and we do not have
a scratch register. Instead we use bit-twiddling tricks
(suggested by @tebbi). For example, here is the code for masking
register update after a bailout on non-zero:

  jnz deopt_bailout ;; Bailout branch
setnz bl ;; These three instructions update the mask
  add ebx, 255
  sar ebx, 31

(On x64, the sequence is:

  jnz deopt_bailout
mov r10, 0 ;; We have a scratch register for zero
cmovnz r9, r10 ;; Set to zero if we execute this branch
                  ;; in branch mis-speculation
)

This CL also fixes a bug in register configuration, where we used
to wrongly restrict the array of register name.

This is preparatory cleanup work for eventually tracking the functions

the default PromiseCapability [[Resolve]] and [[Reject]] functions. It
adds a new FeedbackCell type, which is used by JSFunctions consistently
now to reference the feedback vector (or undefined if not the function
is not compiled yet or is a native/asm.js function).

This also changes the calling convention for FastNewClosure builtin and
the JSCreateClosure operator in TurboFan to carry the FeedbackCell here
instead of the parent FeedbackVector and the slot index. In addition we
eliminate the now unused %InterpreterNewClosure runtime function.

  the speculation poison/mask (kSpeculationPoisonRegister).
- in codegen, we introduce an update to the poison register at the starts
of all successors of branches (and deopts) that are marked as safety
  branches (deopts).
- in memory optimizer, we lower all field and element loads to PoisonedLoads.
- poisoned loads are then masked in codegen with the poison register.
  * only integer loads are masked at the moment.

a740255899 [assembler] Make {RelocInfo} independent of the Isolate.
Now that instruction cache flushing is process-wide and no longer bound
to a specific {Isolate}, we can also make setters on the {RelocInfo}
structure equally independent of the {Isolate} and remove the respective
parameter everywhere.

855cb90db7 Normalize names of call descriptor local variables
This is a purely cosmetic change. Rename all local variables and
parameters of type CallDescriptor* to "call_descriptor".
For locals that are now named "call_descriptor", use auto upon
initialization, following the Google style guide
(https://google.github.io/styleguide/cppguide.html#auto).

Note: fields in structs and classes were not renamed in this CL.

10474c1047 [simulator] Refactor simulator I-cache to be process-wide.
This refactors the instruction cache simulation to now be maintained
process-wide (as opposed to be per Isolate). It prepares for allowing
to share code between Isolates (e.g. WebAssembly or shared builtins)
while still allowing to simulate execution of such shared code.
