af4ff8c71f [ESNext] Update Promise.prototype.finally to match latest spec
The spec calls out to Promise.prototype.then and also passes around
the constructor of the receiver to Promise.prototype.finally.

Adds a new constructor slot to PromiseFinallyContext enum and this is
used to create a new promise in the thenFinally/catchFinally callbacks.

Created a new PromiseResolve TFS builtin refactored from
the existing PromiseResolve builtin. PromiseResolveWrapper
calls out to this TFS Builtin and is now exposed as Promise.resolve.
The thenFinally and catchFinally callbacks also call out to the
PromiseResolve TFS builtin.

Spec -- https://tc39.github.io/proposal-promise-finally/

138fbdb4f4 [parser] Fix arrow funcs w/ destructuring params again. [Alternative fix]
What happened:
- When rewriting in DoParseFunction, the relevant function scope is no longer in
the scope stack.
- The correct scope is given to the PatternRewriter.
- PatternRewriter called to Parser::BuildIteratorCloseForCompletion.
- BuildIteratorCloseForCompletion would just call NewTemporary (which creates
a new temporary in Parser's current scope) instead of using the scope passed to
it and calling NewTemporary on it.
- Normally this went unnoticed, since it doesn't matter that much where the
temporary is.
- But in the lazy arrow func case, the Parser's scope at that point was the
already-resolved outer scope, and a DCHECK detected this problem.

Kudos & thanks to verwaest@ for a debugging session :)

2859dba713 [csa] Canonicalize empty elements in AllocateJSArray
Prior to this, AllocateJSArray would go ahead and allocate an empty
FixedArray as elements if passed any capacity that is not a compile-time
constant 0.

Things break later on since we rely on the fact that empty fixed arrays
are always canonicalize, and we use

  obj.elements == empty_fixed_array_constant

interchangeably with

  obj.elements.length == 0.

This CL introduces two new branches in AllocateJSArray: one if the
capacity is known to be non-zero; and another that explicitly
distinguishes between 0 and non-zero capacities.

226e63fc13 [turbofan] Fold Object constructor calls with certain values.
When calling

  Object(value)

where the value is known to be a JSReceiver, we can just replace it with
value, as the Object constructor call is a no-op in that case. Otherwise
when value is known to be not null or undefined then we can replace the
Object constructor call with an invocation of ToObject.

This covers the common pattern found in bundles generated by Webpack,
where the Object constructor is used to call imported functions, i.e.

  Object(module.foo)(1, 2, 3)

There's a lot of detail in https://github.com/webpack/webpack/issues/5600
on this matter and why this pattern was chosen.

introduced by this CL verify that the mem_size and mem_start variables
are always correct.

The tests verify the output of the current_memory instruction and the
result of loading a variable stored in the grown memory inside the
loop in the following cases:

 * the memory is grown in a directly called function inside a loop;

 * the memory is grown in an indirectly called function inside a loop.

6b4dc039a6 [wasm] Refactor function body decoder
This refactoring separates graph building from wasm decoding. The
WasmGraphBuilder is just a consumer of the decoded information.
Decoding without any consumer (i.e. just validation) gets 16% faster by
this refactoring, because no TFNode* have to be stored in the value
stack, and all dynamic tests to determine whether the graph should be
build are gone (measured on AngryBots; before: 110.2 +- 3.3ms, after:
92.2 +- 3.1 ms).

This new design will allow us to also attach other consumers, e.g. a
new baseline compiler.

this by passing the already-converted value to runtime.

This particular path was broken and we ended up passing the original

27fd52abad [regexp] Send sticky @@splits to the slow path
Due to shortcuts we take on the RegExp.p[@@split] fast path (we don't allocate
a new instance), we need to send sticky regexps to the slow path.

The problem is a slight impedance mismatch between the spec and our fast-path
implementation.

Spec: Creates a new regexp instance `splitter` that is guaranteed to be sticky,
uses `splitter.lastIndex` to advance the search range, advances by itself using
AdvanceStringIndex if `splitter` did not match at the current position.

Our fast path: Uses the given regexp instance and does not modify stickyness,
uses last_match_info to advance search range, returns (and assumes no more
matches) once RegExpExecInternal fails to match.

This is fine if the given regexp is non-sticky, since 1. the value of lastIndex
is ignored, and 2. non-sticky regexps match if a match is found anywhere in the
string, not just exactly at the current lastIndex.

Sticky regexps though are a problem. If no match is found exactly at the current
position, @@split assumes no more matches and exits.

In a follow-up, we could explore other options, such as allocating a new
instance or saving/restoring flags and lastIndex.

5c47d99e30 [wasm] Add tests for grow_memory in loops
This CL introduces 4 tests that verify that the effects of a grow_memory
instruction executed inside a loop are visible also when the loop is over.

The tests verify the output of the current_memory instruction and the
result of loading a variable stored in the grown memory inside the
loop in the following cases:

 * the memory is grown inside the loop (no memory operation outside);

 * the memory is grown both inside and outside the loop;

This patch reverts to the previous behavior, with a TODO to handle this
in a better way by dequeuing RewritableExpressions that turned out
to be part of an inner arrow function.

d74ec7efa8 [wasm] Add tests for grow_memory inside functions
This CL introduces 6 tests that verify that the effects of a grow_memory
instruction executed inside a function are visible also from the caller of
the function.

The tests verify that:

 * the current_memory instruction returns the correct value after
 returning from a function that grew memory;

 * accessing a memory page that has been created inside a function does
 not trap in the caller;

 * when a function grows the memory and then store something in the grown
memory, the caller always reads from the grown memory. This checks that
the memory start address gets updated in the caller (the memory buffer
could in fact be relocated by the grow_memory instruction).

These tests are implemented for direct and indirect function calls.

8ee068388e [wasm] Fix grow-memory on exported memory
The WASM spec maximum memory size is higher than internal V8 maximum object
size. When a memory object grows above this limit (and only in that case), we
should signal an error.

This worked for not-exported memory; however when growing exported memory, the
code was comparing the V8 memory limit with the maximum number of pages defined
in the module, instead of the current number of pages + the number of new
required pages. This lead to signaling errors even when growing exported memory
below the V8 limit if the maximum number of pages specified in the module was
higher than the V8 limit.

GrowMemoryBuffer already checks that we do not grow a memory buffer past the
maximum size specified as parameter, so we can pass it the minimum between the
the V8 limit and the maximum number of pages specified in the module.

This CL introduces a test in test/mjsunit/wasm/import-memory.js that triggers
the problematic path and a patch to fix it.

a9846ad451 Throw errors when assigning to const variables inside with
This code appears to have been wrong forever, as it only
threw in strict mode (presumably predating ES2015 const).

In order to get exactly the right behavior, special
handling of sloppy named function expressions is required.
Rather than polluting PropertyAttributes with another
dummy value, this CL simply adds a bool output argument
to Context::Lookup to indicate that case.

c39c6eba00 [wasm] [debug] Implement calling imported wasm functions
The interpreter was not able to call imported wasm functions (hitting
UNIMPLEMENTED). This CL fixes this by creating a "CWasmEntry", which is
signature-specific. It has JS linkage and receives the wasm code object
to call and a buffer containing all arguments (similar to the
interpreter entry). It loads all arguments from the buffer and calls the
given code object.
The c-wasm-entry code objects are cached per instance, such that we
only create them once per signature.

These wasm entry stubs will also allow us to call back to compiled code
from the interpreter, which we might want to do to reduce the slowdown
of executing wasm for debugging.

e7a46253f2 [parser] Skipping inner funcs: implement a bailout.
In some cases, PreParser cannot replicate the Scope structure created by
Parser. It happens esp. with arrow function parameters, since the relevant
information is already lost by the time we figure out it's an arrow function.

In these cases, PreParser should bail out of trying to create data for skipping
inner functions.

Implementation notes:

- The arrow function case is more fundamental; the non-arrow case could be
hacked together somehow if we implemented tracking is_simple for each param
separately; but now that it's possible to bail out consistently from both
cases, I don't think the is_simple complication is worth it.

- The added mjsunit test cases are based on the test262 test cases which exposed
  the problem.

- cctest/preparser/PreParserScopeAnalysis was exercising similar cases, but the
problem didn't show up because the function parameters didn't contain
skippable functions. Those test cases have been repurposed for testing the
  bailout.

- Extra precaution: the bailout tests are in a separate file, to guard from the
bug that a bailout case results in bailing out of *all* data creation, which
would make all skipping tests in the same file useless.

448a1d4bb5 [ic] Drop Array constructor support from CallIC.
Calling the Array constructor is an edge case, and we don't seem to
benefit from doing the AllocationSite tracking there as well. In fact
it's a lot of complexity and somewhat blocking the more important
optimization of the subclass constructors.

This is an attempt to nuke the CallIC support for AllocationSites. If
it regresses something important, we'll have to find another way.

470a10015d Start migration of try/throw/catch to match proposal.
This CL does the first baby steps on moving the current (experimental)
exception handling to match that of the WebAssembly proposal.

It does the following:

1) Use exception tags instead of integers.

2) Only handle empty exception signatures (i.e. no values associated
   with the exception tag.

3) Only handle one catch clause.

4) Be sure to rethrow the exception if the exception tag does not match.

Note: There are many things that need to be fixed, and are too
numerous to list here. However, the code should have TODO's on each
missing parts of the implementation.

Also note that the code currently doesn't handle nested catch blocks,
nor does it change the throw value being an integer. Rather, the
integer value is still being thrown, and currently is the exception
tag. Therefore, we don't build an exception object. This is the reason
why this CL doesn't handle exceptions that pass values.

Also, the current implementation still can't handle multiple modules
because tag resolution (between) modules has not be implemented yet.

ac6ed35a31 Reland "[async-iteration] implement spec-change to yield in async generators"
Per https://github.com/tc39/proposal-async-iteration/pull/102/files:

AsyncGeneratorResolve no longer unwraps a value component. Instead, the value is
unwrapped before the builtin call via Await, allowing Promise rejections to
affect the generator control flow.

Thus, all `yield <expr>` implicitly become `yield await <expr>`.

Additionally, `return <expr>` becomes `return await <expr>`. Finally, when the
generator is resumed with `.return()`, the parameter passed to .return() is
awaited before generator execution properly continues).

The test TestExportImportedMemoryGrowMultipleInstances in
test/mjsunit/wasm/import-memory.js had a TODO about not taking into

The check is already in place at wasm-objects.cc:266

This CL removes the TODO and asserts that growing past maximum for

Remove opt_count from SFI, which only had two real uses:

  1. Detecting OSR in tests -- replaced with a stack walk in

  2. Naming optimization log files -- replaced with the
     optimization id

This allows us to remove a field from the SFI, moving the
bailout reason into the counters field.

As a drive-by, add optimization marker information (e.g.
marked for optimization) to the optimization status.

empty arrays it is observable whether such a check outside the loop has
been elided or not.

- No need for multiple assertAsyncRan() calls, just do t.plan(count)

- Previously, if you forget to call assertAsyncRan(), the test will still

- No longer hold global state (with
asyncAssertsExpected). Previously if one assert wasn't hit then
there's no way to find out which test failed. You'd have to

- Each test runs independently in the microtask queue.

- Better failure reporting by printing the entire function.

072d0e3eb6 [wasm] Allow for arbitrarily long error messages
We currently have a fixed limit of 256 characters for error messages
generated in the decoder. However, we sometimes embed names in it,
which makes it easy to generate a crash by using long names (e.g. for
exports) in invalid wasm modules.
This CL fixes this by switching to a stream based interface, allowing
to pass arbitrary objects to be printed. With this interface, we can
easily limit the length of output later.

69c8f16da7 [Turbofan] Merged the OSR phase into the graph building phase.
Now the OSR phase is only used when OSRing from the ast graph builder.
When OSRing from Turbofan, the implementation is now in the graph
building phase, at the beginning of the VisitBytecode function.
We are no longer generating any OSRLoopEntry or OSRNormalEntry nodes,
nor nodes for the possible code of the OSRed function which is before
the OSRed loops.

The trimming and reducing of the OSR phase is not done either. This
change in the way the way the OSR is done enabled to remove the
workaround to the bug mentioned below.

3e47cb87d6 [Turbofan] Use bytecode size for inlining heuristics.
Inlining heuristics in Turbofan used ast node count. Bytecode size
is a better approximation of the size of the graph than the
ast node count. This cl changes the heuristics to use the bytecode
size instead. Also removing the ast_node_count filed in the shared
function info. It was used only for the inlining heuristics.

Also removed the max_inlined_source_size flag which is no longer used.

e1e35df329 [turbofan] Fix CanTreatHoleAsUndefined check.
The test for CanTreatHoleAsUndefined on keyed element access was
checking for stability of Object.prototype and Array.prototype and
even adding stability dependencies on both, which is too restrictive
and leads to unnecessary deoptimizations (and might disable further
optimization of the keyed access depending on the state of the
prototype objects during optimization). This was not intended and
is considered a (performance) bug.

Instead use the correct approach of checking whether the receiver's
prototype is one of the current Object.prototype or Array.prototype
objects (since the Array protector works isolate-wide), and then
check the Array protector and install an appropriate code dependency
on the protector only.
