With conservative stack scanning enabled, a snapshot of the call stack
upon entry to GC will be used to determine part of the root-set. When
the collector walks the stack, it looks at each value and determines
whether it could be a potential on-heap object pointer. However, unlike
with Handles, these on-stack pointers aren't guaranteed to point to the
start of the object: the compiler may decide hide these pointers, and
create interior pointers in C++ frames which the GC doesn't know about.
The solution to this is to include an object start bitmap in the header
of each page. Each bit in the bitmap represents a word in the page
payload which is set when an object is allocated. This means that when
the collector finds an arbitrary potential pointer into the page, it can
walk backwards through the bitmap until it finds the relevant object's
base pointer. To prevent the bitmap becoming stale after compaction, it
is rebuilt during object sweeping.
This is experimental, and currently only works with inline allocation
disabled, and single generational collection.

In order to support conservative stack scanning, we need to be able to
pin pages if they're pointed to by an ambiguous pointer. This CL lets us
do this by providing an IS_PINNED flag which, when enabled, prevents a
page from being selected as an evacuation candidate during compaction.

Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/master@{#68702}
This change begins making use of the fact that Torque now knows about
the relationship between classes and instance types, to replace a few
repetitive lists:
- Instance type checkers (single and range), defined in
src/objects/instance-type.h
- Verification dispatch in src/diagnostics/objects-debug.cc
- Printer dispatch in src/diagnostics/objects-printer.cc
- Postmortem object type detection in
tools/debug_helper/get-object-properties.cc
Torque is updated to generate four macro lists for the instance types,
representing all of the classes separated in two dimensions: classes
that correspond to a single instance type versus those that have a
range, and classes that are fully defined in Torque (with fields and
methods inside '{}') versus those that are only declared. The latter
distinction is useful because fully-defined classes are guaranteed to
correspond to real C++ classes, whereas only-declared classes are not.
A few other changes were required to make the lists above work:
- Renamed IsFiller to IsFreeSpaceOrFiller to better reflect what it does
and avoid conflicts with the new macro-generated IsFiller method. This
is the part I'm most worried about: I think the new name is an
improvement for clarity and consistency, but I could imagine someone
typing IsFiller out of habit and introducing a bug. If we'd prefer to
keep the name IsFiller, my other idea is to rename FreeSpace to
VariableSizeFiller and Filler to FixedSizeFiller.
- Made Tuple3 extend from Struct, not Tuple2, because IsTuple2 is
expected to check for only TUPLE2_TYPE and not include TUPLE3_TYPE.
- Normalized the dispatched behavior for BigIntBase and HeapNumber.
- Added a few new object printers.

during a Full GC when enabled. This flag guarantees that the young gen

This CL also makes use of the fact that the sweeping remembered set is
empty and only invalidates an object when there were old-to-new slots
recorded on its page.

In most cases, the language mode can be inferred from the closure and

simplifies the ICs and will make it possible to go towards lazily
allocating feedback vectors. Currently ICs obtain the language mode from
the feedback vectors and with lazy feedback allocation we may not always
have feedback vectors. Since computing language mode is a bit expensive
we want to defer it as far as possible.
In Array builtins and other builtins like Reflect.Set we need to force a

SetProperty methods allow the language mode to be overridden when needed.

logic in heap.cc, all wrapped by the CALL_HEAP_FUNCTION macro. Instead,
this CL changes the protocol between Heap and Factory to be AllocateRaw,
and all object initialization work after (possibly retried) successful
raw allocation happens in the Factory.

This reverts commit f9a2e24bbc.
Reason for revert: gc stress failures not all fixed by follow up.

There is no good reason to have the meat of most objects' initialization
logic in heap.cc, all wrapped by the CALL_HEAP_FUNCTION macro. Instead,
this CL changes the protocol between Heap and Factory to be AllocateRaw,
and all object initialization work after (possibly retried) successful
raw allocation happens in the Factory.
This saves about 20KB of binary size on x64.

There's three common situations in which we need to create JSFunction
objects. 1) from the compiler, 2) from tests, and 3) everything else
(mostly during bootstrapping).
This is an attempt to simplify case 3), which previously relied on
several Factory::NewFunction overloads where it was not clear how the
semantics of each overload differed.
This CL removes all but one overload, and packs arguments into a new
NewFunctionArgs helper class.
It also removes the hacks around
SFI::set_lazy_deserialization_builtin_id by explicitly passing
builtin_id into Factory::NewSharedFunctionInfo.
Drive-by-fix: Properly set is_constructor hint in
SimpleCreateSharedFunctionInfo.

Removes
- SequentialMarkingDeque
- The ability to handle marking deque overflow
- BlackToGrey transitions
We switched to a different marking work list on M61 that fails
in OOM upon failing to allocate Segments used in the work list.

This follows up 4af9cfcc by separating incremental marking state
from the full MC marking state. Runtime and tests now use only
the incremental marking state. The full MC marking state used
by MC during atomic pause.
This separation decouples atomicity of markbit accesses
during incremental marking and during full MC.

Deletes the now unused Full-codegen compiler. Also removes some macro
assembler instructions which are no longer used.
Note: there is still additional cleanup work to do after this lands
(e.g., remove support for FCG frames support and FCG
debugger support, etc.), but this will be done in followup CLs to keep
this patch managable.

This patch merges ObjectMarking and MarkingState. The new marking state
encapsulates object marking, live byte tracking, and access atomicity.
The old ObjectMarking calls are now replaced with calls to marking
state. For example:
ObjectMarking::WhiteToGrey<kAtomicity>(obj, marking_state(obj)
becomes
marking_state()->WhiteToGrey(obj)
This simplifies custom handling of live bytes and allows to chose
atomicity of markbit accesses depending on collector's state.
This also decouples marking bitmap from the marking code, which will
allows in future to use different data-structure for mark-bits.

- Iterator advancing is kept mainly unchanged.
- The iterator stores the size of the object which is to be used by the
caller in follow ups. This way we might be able to avoid further out
of line loads.
- The iteartor follows the regular std conventions allowing range based
loops.

This patch adds a concurrent marking deque that exposes the same interface
for the main thread as the existing marking deque.
The matching interface makes the concurrent marking deque a drop-in
replacement for the sequential marking deque without any change in
mark-compactor and incremental marker.
