0ca02ee48d Make sure builtin functions don't rely on __proto__.
This makes sure that none of the builtin functions rely on the __proto__
accessor which can now be monkey-patched by applications. Instead use a
separate %SetPrototype() intrinsic or object literals to do the job.

090d09d685 ES6 symbols: Implement Symbol intrinsic and basic functionality
- Add --harmony-symbols flag.
- Add Symbol constructor; allow symbols as (unreplaced) return value from constructors.
- Introduce %CreateSymbol and %_IsSymbol natives and respective instructions.
- Extend 'typeof' code generation to handle symbols.
- Extend CompareIC with a UNIQUE_NAMES state that (uniformly) handles internalized strings and symbols.
- Property lookup delegates to SymbolDelegate object for symbols, which only carries the toString method.
- Extend Object.prototype.toString to recognise symbols.

Per the current draft spec, symbols are actually pseudo objects that are frozen with a null prototype and only one property (toString). For simplicity, we do not treat them as proper objects for now, although typeof will return "object". Only property access works as if they were (frozen) objects (via the internal delegate object).

55f93b5532 Renamed "symbols" to "internalized strings" throughout the code base,
in preparation of the introduction of ES6 'symbols' (aka private/unique names).

The SymbolTable became the StringTable. I also made sure to adapt all comments. The only remaining use of the term "symbol" (other than unrelated uses in the parser and such) is now 'NewSymbol' in the API and the 'V8.KeyedLoadGenericSymbol' counter, changing which might break embedders.

The one functional change in this CL is that I removed the former 'empty_string' constant, since it is redundant given the 'empty_symbol' constant that we also had (and both were used inconsistently).

will win a beauty contest, but we can clean this up later easily in smaller steps.

529f801fde Adapt Danno's Track Allocation Info idea to fast literals. When allocating a literal array,
we store an AllocationSiteInfo object right after the JSArray, with a pointer to the
boilerplate object. Later, if the array transitions we check for the continued existence
of the temporary AllocationSiteInfo object (has no roots). If found, we'll use it to
transition the boilerplate array as well.

5a4e0f1c79 Simplify and fix code aging.
Making the code size predictable is hard, and to make things even more
complicated, the start of a function can contain various stuff like calls to a
profiling hook, receiver adjustment or dynamic frame alignment. Instead of
tackling all these problems separately, we now simply record the offset where
patching should happen later in the Code object itself.

ce05280bfc Get rid of static module allocation, do it in code.
Modules now have their own local scope, represented by their own context.
Module instance objects have an accessor for every export that forwards
access to the respective slot from the module's context. (Exports that are
modules themselves, however, are simple data properties.)

All modules have a _hosting_ scope/context, which (currently) is the
(innermost) enclosing global scope. To deal with recursion, nested modules
are hosted by the same scope as global ones.

For every (global or nested) module literal, the hosting context has an
internal slot that points directly to the respective module context. This
enables quick access to (statically resolved) module members by 2-dimensional
access through the hosting context. For example,

  module A {
    let x;
    module B { let y; }
  }
  module C { let z; }

allocates contexts as follows:

[header| .A | .B | .C | A | C ]  (global)
          |    |    |
          |    |    +-- [header| z ]  (module)
          |    |
          |    +------- [header| y ]  (module)
          |
          +------------ [header| x | B ]  (module)

Here, .A, .B, .C are the internal slots pointing to the hosted module
contexts, whereas A, B, C hold the actual instance objects (note that every
module context also points to the respective instance object through its
extension slot in the header).

To deal with arbitrary recursion and aliases between modules,
they are created and initialized in several stages. Each stage applies to
all modules in the hosting global scope, including nested ones.

1. Allocate: for each module _literal_, allocate the module contexts and
   respective instance object and wire them up. This happens in the
   PushModuleContext runtime function, as generated by AllocateModules
   (invoked by VisitDeclarations in the hosting scope).

2. Bind: for each module _declaration_ (i.e. literals as well as aliases),
   assign the respective instance object to respective local variables. This
   happens in VisitModuleDeclaration, and uses the instance objects created
   in the previous stage.
   For each module _literal_, this phase also constructs a module descriptor
   for the next stage. This happens in VisitModuleLiteral.

3. Populate: invoke the DeclareModules runtime function to populate each
   _instance_ object with accessors for it exports. This is generated by
   DeclareModules (invoked by VisitDeclarations in the hosting scope again),
   and uses the descriptors generated in the previous stage.

4. Initialize: execute the module bodies (and other code) in sequence. This
   happens by the separate statements generated for module bodies. To reenter
   the module scopes properly, the parser inserted ModuleStatements.

bd4e114b8e Add code again to allow reclaiming old unexecuted functions.
When code objects in the heap for FUNCTIONs and OPTIMIZED_FUNCTIONs are marked by the GC, their prologue is patched with a call to a stub that removes the patch. This allows the collector to quickly identify code objects that haven't been executed since the last full collection (they are the ones that sill contain the patch). The functionality is currently disabled, but can be activated by specifying the "--age-code".

ebd3241b05 Sharing of descriptor arrays.
This CL adds multiple things:
Transition arrays do not directly point at their descriptor array anymore, but rather do so via an indirect pointer (a JSGlobalPropertyCell).

An ownership bit is added to maps indicating whether it owns its own descriptor array or not.

Maps owning a descriptor array can pass on ownership if a transition from that map is generated; but only if the descriptor array stays exactly the same; or if a descriptor is added.

Maps that don't have ownership get ownership back if their direct child to which ownership was passed is cleared in ClearNonLiveTransitions.

To detect which descriptors in an array are valid, each map knows its own NumberOfOwnDescriptors. Since the descriptors are sorted in order of addition, if we search and find a descriptor with index bigger than this number, it is not valid for the given map.

We currently still build up an enumeration cache (although this may disappear). The enumeration cache is always built for the entire descriptor array, even if not all descriptors are owned by the map. Once a descriptor array has an enumeration cache for a given map; this invariant will always be true, even if the descriptor array was extended. The extended array will inherit the enumeration cache from the smaller descriptor array. If a map with more descriptors needs an enumeration cache, it's EnumLength will still be set to invalid, so it will have to recompute the enumeration cache. This new cache will also be valid for smaller maps since they have their own enumlength; and use this to loop over the cache. If the EnumLength is still invalid, but there is already a cache present that is big enough; we just initialize the EnumLength field for the map.

When we apply ClearNonLiveTransitions and descriptor ownership is passed back to a parent map, the descriptor array is trimmed in-place and resorted. At the same time, the enumeration cache is trimmed in-place.

Only transition arrays contain descriptor arrays. If we transition to a map and pass ownership of the descriptor array along, the child map will not store the descriptor array it owns. Rather its parent will keep the pointer. So for every leaf-map, we find the descriptor array by following the back pointer, reading out the transition array, and fetching the descriptor array from the JSGlobalPropertyCell. If a map has a transition array, we fetch it from there. If a map has undefined as its back-pointer and has no transition array; it is considered to have an empty descriptor array.

When we modify properties, we cannot share the descriptor array. To accommodate this, the child map will get its own transition array; even if there are not necessarily any transitions leaving from the child map. This is necessary since it's the only way to store its own descriptor array.

a9f5f3d6f5 Fix the full compiler on ARM to always generate the same code
regardless of the detected CPU. This is a requirement for the
debugger and the deoptimizer, which both expect that code from
the snapshot (compiled without VFP and ARM7) should have the
same layout as code compiled later.

This is another change to make snapshots more robust with
arbitrary code.

1d0f872ef9 Fix full code generator to not use --debug-code if it is in
mksnapshot or a VM that is booted from a snapshot. --debug-code
can still have an effect on stub and optimized code and it still
works on the full code generator when running without snapshots.

The deoptimizer generates full-code-generator code and relies on it having
the same layout as last time. This means that the code the full code
generator makes for the snapshot should be the same as the code it makes
later. This change makes the full code generator create more consistent
code between mksnapshot time and run time.

This is a bug fix and a step towards making the snapshot code more robust.

ab26fb6b21 Implement rudimentary module linking.
Constructs the (generally cyclic) graph of module instance objects
and populates their exports. Any exports other than nested modules
are currently set to 'undefined' (but already present as properties).

Details:
- Added new type JSModule for instance objects: a JSObject carrying a context.
- Statically allocate instance objects for all module literals (in parser 8-}).
- Extend interfaces to record and unify concrete instance objects,
  and to support iteration over members.
- Introduce new runtime function for pushing module contexts.
- Generate code for allocating, initializing, and setting module contexts,
  and for populating instance objects from module literals.
  Currently, all non-module exports are still initialized with 'undefined'.
- Module aliases are resolved statically, so no special code is required.
- Make sure that code containing module constructs is never optimized
  (macrofy AST node construction flag setting while we're at it).
- Add test case checking linkage.

c644c4e811 Ensure that generated code for object literals will call Runtime_DefineOrRedefineAccessorProperty only once per accessor property.
To do this, we collect all accessor properties in a first pass and emit code for
defining those properties afterwards in a second pass.

As a finger exercise, the table used for collecting accessors has a (subset of
an) STL-like iterator interface, including STL-like names and operators.
Although C++ is quite verbose here (as usual, but partly this is caused by our
current slightly clumsy classes/templates), things work out quite nicely and it
cleans up some confusion, e.g. a table entry is not an iterator etc.
Everything compiles into very efficient code, e.g. the loop condition 'it !=
accessor_table.end()' compiles into a single 'testl' instruction on ia32.
+1 for using standard APIs!

1729e3c0dd Make the runtime entry for setting/changing accessors "atomic".
Previously, there were 1 or 2 calls to the runtime when accessors were changed
or set. This doesn't really work well with property attributes, leading to some
hacks and complicates things even further when trying to share maps in presence
of accessors. Therefore, the runtime entry now takes the full triple (getter,
setter, attributes), where the getter and/or the setter can be null in case they
shouldn't be changed.

For now, we do basically the same on the native side as we did before on the
JavaScript side, but this will change in future CLs, the current CL is already
large enough.

Note that object literals with a getter and a setter for the same property still
do 2 calls, but this is a little bit more tricky to fix and will be handled in a
separate CL.

6703dddac4 Support fast case for-in in Crankshaft.
Only JSObject enumerables with enum cache (fast case properties, no interceptors, no enumerable properties on the prototype) are supported.

HLoadKeyedGeneric with keys produced by for-in enumeration are recognized and rewritten into direct property load by index. For this enum-cache was extended to store property indices in a separate array (see handles.cc).

New hydrogen instructions:

- HForInPrepareMap: checks for-in fast case preconditions and returns map that contains enum-cache;
- HForInCacheArray: extracts enum-cache array from the map;
- HCheckMapValue: map check with HValue map instead of immediate;
- HLoadFieldByIndex: load fast property by it's index, positive indexes denote in-object properties, negative - out of object properties;

Changed hydrogen instructions:

- HLoadKeyedFastElement: added hole check suppression for loads from internal FixedArrays that are knows to have no holes inside.

0be449d684 Enable optimization of top-level code and generate deoptimization support lazily.
This change enables optimization of top-level and eval-code. For this to work, it adds
support for declaring global variables in optimized code.

At the same time it disables the eager generation of deoptimization support data
in the full code generator (originally introduced in
 r10040). This speeds up initial compilation and saves
memory for functions that won't be optimized. It requires
 recompiling the function with deoptimization
 support when we decide to optimize it.

1e9a7267ab Introduce extended mode.
This CL introduces a third mode next to the non-strict
(henceforth called 'classic mode') and 'strict mode'
which is called 'extended mode' as in the current
ES.next specification drafts. The extended mode is based on
the 'strict mode' and adds new functionality to it. This
means that most of the semantics of these two modes
coincide.

The 'extended mode' is entered instead of the 'strict mode'
during parsing when using the 'strict mode' directive
"use strict" and when the the harmony-scoping flag is
active. This should be changed once it is fully specified how the 'extended mode' is entered.

This change introduces a new 3 valued enum LanguageMode
(see globals.h) corresponding to the modes which is mostly
used by the frontend code. This includes the following
components:
* (Pre)Parser
* Compiler
* SharedFunctionInfo, Scope and ScopeInfo
* runtime functions: StoreContextSlot,
  ResolvePossiblyDirectEval, InitializeVarGlobal,
  DeclareGlobals

The old enum StrictModeFlag is still used in the backend
when the distinction between the 'strict mode' and the 'extended mode' does not matter. This includes:
* SetProperty runtime function, Delete builtin
* StoreIC and KeyedStoreIC
* StubCache

Original commit message:

Add a level of indirection to exception handler addresses.

To support deoptimization of exception handlers, the handler address in the
stack is converted to a pair of code object and an index into a separate
table of code offsets. The index part is invariant under deoptimization.
The index is packed into the handler state field so that handler size does
not change.

This was pretty heavyweight. It was kept in just for a few corner cases
that assumed it was there. We can work around them by making sure that the
expression in a reified test context is always really the expression that
was visited in that context; and by inspecting the context manually and
consing up a pair of extra AST IDs for the unusual case of unary not in a

cf63503cad Unify the handling of comparinsons against null and undefined.
Although this patch is not small, most parts of it are rather mechanical:

 * First of all, the concept of a 'nil-like' value is introduced, which can be
   null or undefined. They are treated symmetrically regarding comparisons, so
   it makes sense to handle them in a uniform manner. It is a mystery why
   JavaScript defines two of those beasts, when even *one* is a design wart...

 * Extended and renamed a few things which now handle undefined in addition to
   null.

 * Made the parts of the full code generator and the hydrogen generation which
   deal with comparisons a bit more similar regarding their handling of special
   cases.

 * Refactored the syntactical detection of special cases for comparisons,
   hopefully making them a bit more readable and less copy-n-paste-oriented.
   Things like this should really be a one-liner in any sane programming
   language... :-P

 * Cut down the length of the argument lists of a few functions to something
   less insane, making them more easily understandable locally. This involves
   minor code duplication, but this was a good tradeoff and can be remedied
   later if necessary.

 * Replaced some boolean arguments with more readable enums.

 * Fixed a TODO: Values which are definitely a Smi or unboxed can never be equal
   to null or undefined.

8c744768e2 Nuke CompareToNull AST node.
The Great Master Plan is to move the recognition of special cases for
comparisons further down the compilation pipeline where more information is
available. This is a first step into this direction: The special handling of
equality comparisons involving null is pushed from the parser to the code
generators, removing the need for a special AST node. (There are rumors from
usually well-informed sources that this node type is actually a relic of ancient
crankshaft days...)

The next steps will be the unification of null/undefined handling and pushing
the special case handling in crankshaft even further down the pipeline, enabling
the recognition of cases like "var foo=null; if (foo === bar) ...", but these
will be in separate CLs.

The catch variable is bound in the catch scope. For simplicity in this
initial implementation, it is always allocated even if unused and always
allocated to a catch context even if it doesn't escape. The presence of
catch is no longer treated as a with.

In this change, care must be taken to distinguish between the scope where a
var declaration is hoisted to and the scope where the initialization occurs.

5e7da7f04f Remove the fcontext field from all contexts.
Before: every context cached the nearest enclosing function context. This
assumed that for nested contexts (i.e., with and catch contexts) the
enclosing function had a materialized link in the context chain.

Now: when necessary, we loop up the context chain to find such a context.
This enables catch contexts without forcing the enclosing function to
allocate its own context.

a4cf7be941 First steps towards better code generation for LBranch:
* AST Expression nodes get a separate testing ID to record type info in
   ToBooleanStub later. This is necessary to avoid clashes with other uses of
   already existing IDs.

 * In order to avoid threading the condition expression through tons of places,
   TestContexts carry it now with them. Note that we will probably only need the
   testing ID of the expression, but having the whole thing at hand makes
   debugging easier. Probably we will change this later...

670f947a5c Implement set trap for proxies, and revamp class hierarchy in preparation:
- Introduce a class JSReceiver, that is a common superclass of JSObject and
  JSProxy. Use JSReceiver where appropriate (probably lots of places that we
  still have to migrate, but we will find those later with proxy test suite).

- Move appropriate methods to JSReceiver class (SetProperty,
  GetPropertyAttribute, Get/SetPrototype, Lookup, and so on).

- Introduce new JSFunctionProxy subclass of JSProxy. Currently only a stub.

- Overhaul enum InstanceType:
  * Introduce FIRST/LAST_SPEC_OBJECT_TYPE that ranges over all types that
    represent JS objects, and use that consistently to check language types.
  * Rename FIRST/LAST_JS_OBJECT_TYPE and FIRST/LAST_FUNCTION_CLASS_TYPE
    to FIRST/LAST_[NON]CALLABLE_SPEC_OBJECT_TYPE for clarity.
  * Eliminate the overlap over JS_REGEXP_TYPE.
  * Also replace FIRST_JS_OBJECT with FIRST_JS_RECEIVER, but only use it where
    we exclusively talk about the internal representation type.
  * Insert JS_PROXY and JS_FUNCTION_PROXY in the appropriate places.

- Fix all checks concerning classification, especially for functions, to
  use the CALLABLE_SPEC_OBJECT range (that includes funciton proxies).

- Handle proxies in SetProperty (that was the easiest part :) ).

- A few simple test cases.

6f775f2fb0 Fix calls of strict mode function with an implicit receiver.
Only IA32 version for now. I'll start porting.

Strict mode functions are to get 'undefined' as the receiver when
called with an implicit receiver. Modes are bad! It forces us to have
checks on all function calls.

This change attempts to limit the cost by passing information about
whether or not a call is with an implicit or explicit receiver in ecx
as part of the calling convention. The cost is setting ecx on all
calls and checking ecx on entry to strict mode functions.

Implicit/explicit receiver state has to be maintained by ICs. Various
stubs have to not clobber ecx or save and restore it.

CallFunction stub needs to check if the receiver is implicit when it
doesn't know from the context.

f39b0dfccb Handle all kind of arguments in the ToBooleanStub. While this is not very thrilling in itself, it is one of several steps to add type recording to this stub. Removed a duplicate check for null in the ARM stub and made a tiny simplification, removing a sub instruction.
As a side note, this change has some positive impact on the performace, e.g. imaging-darkroom is 8.3% faster and ws-ieee754conv is even 19.9% faster. No idea why the speedup is so big in some cases, but never look a gift horse in the mouth... ;-)

ea8312ba33 Reapply: Never use classic code generator.
Crankshaft is now the default on all platforms. This is the first
patch on the way to removing the classic code generator from the
system.

This time with no removal of the crankshaft flag. --nocrankshaft is
not at all the same as --always-full-compiler which I had used instead
for testing. That was what caused timeouts on the buildbots because of
repeated attempts to optimize hot functions. It makes sense to keep
the crankshaft flag in case you want to run only with the full
compiler and with no adaptive compilation.

1e8079fcc9 Increase coverage of global loads in optimized code
In the cases where a global property cell cannot be used in the optimized code
use standard load ic to get the property instead of bailing out.

This is re-committing r7212 and r7215 which where reverted in r7239 with the addition of recoring the source position in the hydrogen code for the LoadGlobalCell instruction. To record that position an optional position field has been added to the variable proxy AST node.

8066271fd2 Optimize calls to object literal properties that are initialized with a function literal.
This allows fast calls and inlining of functions like:

var o = {f: function() { return "foo"; }}
o.f();

Object literals that contain function literals are initially created a dictionary mode
object and only transformed to fast properties once all properties are computed and
added. This allows us to create constant function properties for functions declared
inside the object literal. Function literals inside object literals are marked for
pretenuring so that they work as contant function properties.

Object literals without functions should just function as before.

d31594feae Refactor construction of switch statements to avoid subgraphs.
Refactor construction of switch statements so it doesn't use class
HSubgraph.

There are also a few improvements. We do not use an auxiliary list of
comparisons because they're embedded as a linked list in the graph
under construction. We share a common break block for all breaks from
the same switch. We do not insert empty blocks unless necessary to
maintain edge-split form.

There is also a bug fix. The entry to a clause body is a potential
join and must have a join ID set, otherwise deoptimization within the
body can go to an unpredictable place in the unoptimized code.

e0be3072b5 Implement assignment to undefined reference in ES5 Strict Mode.
Strict mode assignment to undefined reference.
Simple assignments (x = <value>) use CODE_TARGET_CONTEXT.
StoreIC stores its own strictness in extra_ic_state.
The strcitness is propagated as further ic stubs are generated.

Details:
* ReferenceError on assignment to non-resolvable reference in strict mode.
* Fix es5conform test expectation file.
* Add es5conform test suite into .gitignore.
* Fix Xcode project.
* Change implemented in virtual frame code generator, as well as full-codegen
  for all architectures.
* Fix debugger test.
* Fix comment for CODE_TARGET_CONTEXT
* Implement remaining StoreIC stubs to be strict mode aware.
* Trace extra_ic_state() for ic code stubs.

2e08148b06 Fix the semantics of delete on parameters.
Before, an attempt to delete a parameter in a function that used the
arguments object in any way would succeed with true and delete both
the parameter and the corresponding arguments object property.

Now, an attempt to delete such a parameter does not delete and
evaluates to false.

Parameters can be deleted, as before, from functions that use the
arguments object, by deleting the corresponding arguments object
property (this is a spec violation).

dabc590527 ARM: Add type-feedback recording for compare
Change the comparison in the full code generator to use CompareIC instead of the CompareStub to record the types. This also implements the patching in the full code generator where the inlined smi code is de-activated by default to call the CompareIC once and then activating the inlined smi code by patching the code.

Fixed the smi comparison in the ICCompareStub.

Fixed ToBooleanStub to ensure that the scratch register used is not the input. Use r9 as default as that will never be input with Crankshaft.

Implemented lithium instruction CmpTAndBranch.

Make sure that the lithium instruction CmpID have operands in registrers as the current optimized code expects that.
