b4c899d48d remove SkWriteBuffer::getWriter32(). 
SkWriteBuffer exposes its lower-level implementation SkWriter32 through
this one call.  It's not currently used in any interesting way:
   - write_encoded_bitmap() uses it to manually re-create writeDataAsByteArray();
   - unit tests use it incidentally as a quick way to read the serialized bytes.

This should be SkWriteBuffer no longer necessarily needs to have an SkWriter32.

Landing this will let us then remove SkWriter32::contiguousArray().

1b5dd88454 remove SkWriteBuffer::reserve() 
We're not using it for anything that we can't do using the clearer writeFoo()/readFoo() methods.

The deletions in SkPictureFlat.{h,cpp} and BitmapHeapTest.cpp clean up dead code.
This code has not been used for a long time.  I happened to notice it because it
was another caller of reserve() (in a terrifyingly hacking/interesting way that
I bet we'll find I authored...)

efe46d2094 Repurpose Release_Developer BUILDTYPE and remove SK_DEVELOPER. 
The Release_Developer build type is now used to build Skia with
release level optimizations but still enable SK_DEBUG. This in turn
means that SkASSERTS and SkRTConf are available in this mode.

Further we can then remove SK_DEVELOPER as a define as it is true
iff SK_DEBUG is true.

900c367796 Image filters: de-nest SkImageFilter::Cache and Cache::Key. 
This reduces the public header, and also allows us to foward-
declare them, so we can remove an #include from all the
SkDevice subclass headers.

1e7f5e708e remove 'deprecated' region from SkDraw 
Most call-sites that used it just took its bounds, so it was trivial to convert them
to get the bounds of the RasterClip. Two clients wanted the actual region:
1. layeriter for android
2. pdf

Android already only has BW clips, so should be safe.
PDF now overrides its clip methods to ensure that all clips are BW.

a3b3b238f5 Enable flattening/unflattening with custom unflatten procs 
Now flattenables are serialized using a string name, so that
flattenables do not necessarily need to be registered before
serialization.  They just need to override getTypeName().

Allows custom unflatten procs to be set on the SkReadBuffer.
This is optional if the flattenable is registered, but otherwise
must be called.

6351640285 Fixes for SkRWBuffer 
Do not call SkBufferHead::validate in SkROBuffer's destructor, which
may be called in a separate thread from SkRWBuffer::append. validate()
reads SkBufferBlock::fUsed, and append() writes to it, resulting in
a data race.

Update some comments to be more clear about how it is safe to use
these classes across threads.

Test the readers in separate threads.

In addition, make sure it is safe to create a reader even when no
data has been appended. Add tests for this case.

Mark a parameter to SkBufferHead::validate() as const, reflecting
its use.

983294f78f Skia Filter Quality and Scaling Metrics 
Adds histogram metrics to log the filter quality and scale factor of
each image draw. To make the data easier to consume, this is broken
down into a number of individual histograms:
- Filter quality across all draw calls
- Scale amount across all draw calls
- Scale amount per filter quality (4 histograms total)

0e3c55431b Tweak distance field path renderer behavior in gamma-correct mode to match 
recent changes to text rendering.

Uses linear coverage falloff. Produces results that are perceptually more
similar to L32 (raster and gpu). Smoothstep + sRGB was too soft.

Plumb the gamma-correctness via DrawPathArgs, which also paves the way for
other path rendering implementations to easily make decisions about rendering
technique based on that flag.

Fix a few typos and formatting issues from my most recent change.

b461d34575 Rename lots of things from 'sRGB' to 'GammaCorrect', where appropriate 
Trying to be much more explicit about where we really mean sRGB as a format,
and where we mean gamma-correct, as in: "not legacy behavior". Most of the

11a77c6e06 Begin switch to SkFontStyle for legacy calls. 
This adds SK_VERY_LEGACY_CREATE_TYPEFACE which, when defined, provides
only the old interface.

Ideally, everyone would switch directly to SkFontMgr and use one of the
newer calls, but there is currently no path for current users to get
there. This updates all the internals to use SkFontStyle, after
switching these over the higher level APIs can be switched.

0576aa9c07 Serialize invNormRotation in SkLightingShader.

646125114b Upgrade SkSpecialImage to have getTextureRef & getROPixels entry points

a1e8f8d8f1 Decouple contrast boost from fake gamma. 
Replace FakeGamma with FontWeightFlags. Largely mechanical, except for
the changes in ignorePreBlend. With this change, text GMs generally look
the same (or at least more similar) in 8888/srgb/gpu/gpusrgb configs.

898235c486 SkSurfaceProps now has a gamma-correct ("AllowSRGBInputs") flag. That's propagated in a few places so that the backend can do the right thing for L32 vs S32 mode. 
Also added SkSurfaceProps to SkSpecialImage, so that Image -> Surface conversion can preserve the desired behavior during filtering.

Many small changes, including a bunch of comments about places where we may be losing information right now. My approach was to ensure that if anything fails, it will always fall back to "legacy" mode - gamma-correctness is opt-in, so I'll just have to feed things through as missing cases are exposed.

6db0a7bdce Image filters: optimize crop rect application. 
If a filter does not affect transparent black, there's no
reason to allow the crop rect to expand beyond the optimal
size determined by onFilterNodeBounds(). So don't enlarge
the bounds unless the filter affects transparent black.

In order to determine which filters affect transparent
black, I've pulled the inverse of the canComputeFastBounds()
logic into a non-recursive, affectsTransparentBlack()
virtual, and left canComputeFastBounds() as a non-virtual,
recursive function that calls it.

ec4d4d784d Change SkTime::GetMSecs to double; ensure values stored in SkMSec do not overflow. 
The following are currently unused in Android, Google3, Chromium, and Mozilla:
  - SkEvent
  - SkTime::GetMSecs
  - SK_TIME_FACTOR (also unused in Skia)
  - SkAutoTime

I left uses of SkMSec more-or-less intact for SkEvent, SkAnimator, and SkInterpolator. SkInterpolator is used in Chromium, so I did not want to change the API. The views/ and animator/ code is crufty, so it didn't seem worthwhile to refactor it. Instead, I added SkEvent::GetMSecsSinceStartup, which is likely to be adequate for use in SampleApp.

I also left SkMSec where it is used to measure a duration rather than a timestamp. With the exception of SkMovie, which is used in Android, all of the uses appear to measure the execution time of a piece of code, which I would hope does not exceed 2^31 milliseconds.

Added skiatest::Timer to support a common idiom in tests where we want to measure the wallclock time in integer milliseconds. (Not used in tests/PathOpsSkpClipTest.cpp because it redefines things in Test.h.)

Removed tabs in tests/StrokerTest.cpp.

e5e79840ef Change signatures of filter bounds methods to return a rect. 
Change filterBounds(), onFilterBounds() and onFilterNodeBounds() and computeFastBounds() to
return the destination rectangle. There was no code path that could
return false, and returning rects by value is ok now.

f8053da259 Allow const& for SkImages and SkPictures in draw methods. 
This is just a convenience for callers, since we are (strongly) encouraging them to use sk_sp<> for managing image objects (and pictures btw). No change under the hood, as we are keeping our agnostic approach to these for the protected virtuals (since often we don't want to ref the parameter).

18300a3aa7 detach -> release 
The C++ standard library uses the name "release" for the operation we call "detach".

Rewriting each "detach(" to "release(" brings us a step closer to using standard library types directly (e.g. std::unique_ptr instead of SkAutoTDelete).

This was a fairly blind transformation.  There may have been unintentional conversions in here, but it's probably for the best to have everything uniformly say "release".

c901c11549 Add element_type, swap, operators, fix reset on sk_sp. 
The 'element_type' typedef is to play nice with std::pointer_traits.

The full complement of operators and swap to match unique_ptr so that
sk_sp can be properly compared to nullptr and used with standard
containers.

Update to 'reset' so that calling 'unref' is the last operation.

This also adds tests for these changes, and sets the fPtr to nullptr
in debug for easier bug finding.

941da9d661 Fix behavior of sk_sp::reset(T*) and add unittest. 
Previously, sk_sp::reset(T* t) did not release its own reference
if its internal pointer was the same as 't'. This leaks a reference.

f6bfccd562 Cleanups related to SkFixed. 
This CL relands https://codereview.chromium.org/1683743005/ with two fixes:
  - Removing the test for vertical text. Vertical text doesn't work on Windows and breakText isn't supported for non-trivial text.
  - Omit PaintBreakTextTest in Google3 because we don't have the correct font setup yet.

Remove SK_FixedNaN. It does not seem to be supported or used anywhere in Skia, Chromium, Android, or Google3, (except accidentally by TwoPtRadial::kDontDrawT). I think supporting it would erase any benefit of SkFixed over float.

Remove SkBitmapFilter::lookup. It does not appear to be used anywhere in Skia, Chromium, Android, or Google3.

Fix a bug in SkPaint::breakText that limited it to ~5kB of text. Now it can handle more than 1GB.

f7b8b8affe Add wrapBackendTextureAsRenderTarget API 
Skia's GrTextureProvider currently exposes two APIs for wrapping backend
objects:
 * wrapBackendTexture - wraps a texture into a GrTexture. Depending on
   flags, this GrTexture can be converted to a GrRenderTarget. Skia
   manages the render target objects it may create to provide a render
   target for the texture. This allows Skia to create stencil buffers
   if needed and manager MSAA resolves.
 * wrapBackendRenderTarget - wraps a FBO into a GrRenderTarget. This
   object cannot be converted to a GrTexture. Skia does not manage
   the render target objects for such a GrRenderTarget, and as such
   cannot attach stencil buffers or perform MSAA resolves on the
   created GrRenderTarget.

Given these two options, wrapBackendTexture provides more versatility
and allows Skia more room for optimization. Chrome currently uses
wrapBackendTexture for this reason.

While these two functions cover most cases, they do not provide a way
for Skia to wrap a texture into a render target (and gain the MSAA and
stencil buffer management), without also creating a GrTexture. This is
problematic in cases where a texture can be bound to a render target,
but cannot be textured from, as is the case in Chrome's limited support
for GL_TEXTURE_RECTANGLE.

To address this, a new function is created:
 * wrapBackendTextureAsRenderTarget - wraps a texture into a
   GrRenderTarget. As with wrapBackendTexture, the created render
   target objects are fully managed by Skia. Unlike wrapBackendTexture
   no GrTexture is created, and the created object will never be
   textured from.

ccb74b824a Move SkPackBits to src/effects. 
Prior to this change SkPackBits.h was in include/core and SkPackBits.cpp
in src/core. However, SkPackBits appears to have been written
specifically as an implementation detail of the SkTableColorFilter
effect. This change moves SkPackBits out of core and into effects, which
is the only current user.

d936f63c35 Simplify and combine SkDrawCacheProc and SkMeasureCacheProc to SkPaint::GlyphCacheProc. 
All callers of (the result of) SkPaint::getDrawCacheProc were passing zero as the last two arguments. This is the same as (the result of) SkPaint::getMeasureCacheProc(true).

Per bungeman, make this typedef a member of SkPaint.

Although the typedef is technically public, the only uses are private, so this is not really an API change.

3bc2624a4b try plain-old code for sk_memset16/32 now that NEON is compile-time 
Most of these implementations now just say "always inline".
Let's see if we can get away with the simplicity of doing that all the time.

These inlined implementations can autovectorize easily.

6900641e02 add last move to serialized path

8715d47e24 Make SkPicture/SkImageGenerator default to SkCodec 
Remove reference to SkImageDecoder from SkPicture. Make the default
InstallPixelRefProc passed to CreateFromStream use
SkImageGenerator::NewFromEncoded instead.

Make SkImageGenerator::NewFromEncoded create an SkCodecImageGenerator.
Remove the old version that used SkImageDecoder.

Remove all versions of lazy_decode_bitmap/LazyDecodeBitmap. The default
now behaves lazily.

Update all clients to use the default.

Move SkImageDecoderGenerator into KtxTest.cpp, and use it directly.

8e17556349 Change SkMatrix::fixedStepInX to return SkVector (of SkScalar) rather than SkFixed. 
All users were immediately converting to SkScalar or SkFixed3232.

This method is not used in Chromium, Android, or Google3.

afec27f13b Image filters: change applyCropRect() to take a src rect. 
Instead of taking the source bitmap and offset, we simply take the
source rect bounds, and make the caller responsible for computing it.

9a1ed5d81d skia: Add support for CHROMIUM_image backed textures. 
I created a new abstract base class TextureStorageAllocator that consumers of
Skia can subclass and pass back to Skia. When a surface is created with a
pointer to a TextureStorageAllocator, any textures it creates, or that are
derived from the original surface, will allocate and deallocate storage using
the methods on TextureStorageAllocator.

0449bcfb2f add helper to create fancy underlines 
Add a couple of utility functions to SkPaint that return the bounds
of glyphs between a pair of lines.

The common use case envisioned generates the edges of descenders
between the top and bottom bounds of an underline to allow computing
a stroke that skips those descenders.

The implementation stores a linked list in each glyph containing
the bounds of the lines parallel to the advance and the outermost
intersections within those bounds.

When the glyph cache is constructed, the glyph path is intersected
with the bounds and the extreme min and max values within the bounds
is added to an intercept.

Share the text to path iter to construct the data.

Make a half-hearted attempt to support vertical text; while the
vertical implementation is complete; surrounding code (e.g. paint
align) has short-comings with vertical.

85dc359f74 Remove SkNEW_APPEND_TO_TARRAY. 
The use of SkNEW_APPEND_TO_TARRAY is now better served by
SkTArray::emplace_back(...) which should now be used instead. The
existing users of SkNEW_APPEND_TO_TARRAY are converted and the code
relating to SkNEW_APPEND_TO_TARRAY is removed.
