3ada6f2740 [ptr-cage] Introduce PtrComprCage
The pointer compression cage is the virtual memory reservation
that all compressed pointers fall within. This CL splits pointer
compression into two modes: a per-Isolate cage and a shared cage
among multiple Isolates.

When multiple Isolates are sharing a cage, they can decompress
each others' pointers and share the same virtual memory range.

656f35ab6c [relaxed-simd] Move tests into separate file
Create a helper wasm-simd-utils to consolidate common helpers shared
between simd and relaxed-simd.

Drive-by cleanup to move RoundingAverageUnsigned out from
overflowing-math (there is nothing overflowing about it).

1dff082298 [dict-proto] C++ implementation of SwissNameDictionary, pt. 9
This CL is part of a series that adds the C++ implementation of
SwissNameDictionary, a deterministic property backing store based on
Swiss Tables.

This CL adds test-swiss-name-dictionary-infra.[h|cc], which contain
the infrastructure for writing tests that simulatenously check the
C++ and CSA/Torque implementation of SwissNameDictionary operations.

The actual tests are added in a subsequent CL, which will be the last of
this series.

00abcea4af [build] Create v8_internal_headers target
Split out all the headers from v8_compiler/v8_compiler_opt and
v8_base_without_compiler into v8_internal_headers since the headers
have inter-dependencies that otherwise make it impossible to satisfy gn
check.

Also adds new v8_header_set torque_runtime_support that exports
src/torque/runtime-support.h separately from the generated headers.

This reduces the number of gn check failures from 169 to 59.

a9242320f2 [build] Fold v8_wrappers into v8_libbase
Remove most dependencies on v8_wrappers. The remainder all depend on
v8_libbase anyway, so just fold it into that target which removes a gn
check error. Also removes v8_wrappers from the fuzzers where it's not
used.

3a9975191a [build] Improve build dependencies for gn check
Currently if gn check is enabled (with v8/third_party ignored), there
are many errors due to headers being used without adding the proper
dependency in BUILD.gn (or because it's being used transitively without
a public_deps chain).

This makes the number of errors go from 2114 to 195.

Apart from adding dependencies, it also moves _v8_internal_Node_Print
from objects-printer.cc to node.cc so it can see the Node::Print method
which wouldn't otherwise be possible without a circular dependency. Also
removes the previously deleted compiler/graph-builder-tester.h file.

2e8443779d Reland "[compiler] Direct heap reads for JSArrayRef"
This is a reland of 76a2ab06a1

Changes since the original CL:
- Handle unserialized elements (optional result in getter).
- Merge should_access_heap and --turbo-direct-heap-access paths.
- Slightly update the serialized path in GetOwnCowElement.
- Fix the cctest, add a regression test.

Atomic JSObject::elements/JSArray::length setters are addressed
in this CL: crrev.com/c/2704076.

287634a51b [test][compiler] Refactor 'inline JStoWasm calls' tests to use %ObserveNode
Modify the cctests for the inlined JS-to-Wasm calls to use the
%ObserveNode intrinsic, to verify that the JSCall node is actually
inlined . This requires a small refactoring of the %ObserveNode
implementation.

There are two aspects to the non-JSObject parts of JSArrayRef:

- JSArrayRef::length. Relevant only in two spots, 1. when reading
(immutable) array boilerplates and 2. for GetOwnCowElement.

- JSArrayRef::GetOwnCowElement. May read into a copy-on-write backing
store. Relies on the invariant that cow backing stores are immutable.

This CL renames the length accessor to length_unsafe to make the
danger explicit at callsites.

For GetOwnCowElement the refactor is slightly larger, since we now
need to read into the backing store while keeping full control of
object reads (e.g. JSArray::length and JSArray::elements_kind). We
make all reads explicit at the call site by requiring that elements,
elements kind, and length are passed in as arguments to
GetOwnCowElement. Inside GetOwnCowElement, consistency between these
is *not* guaranteed due to concurrency. At runtime, consistency *is*
guaranteed through the reference-equality check on the elements seen
during compilation. The actual elements read is implemented in

42409a2e69 [objects] Delete double field unboxing
Reasons:
 * We disabled it more than a year ago for all configs
 * Not easy to re-enable
 * Not compatible with pointer compression as-is
 * Not compatible with concurrent TP/TF as-is
 * No concrete plans to re-enable it

Also remove Map's layout_descriptor since it was only used for double
field unboxing.

- Fixed a GC issue
  https://bugs.chromium.org/p/v8/issues/detail?id=11335:
  GC expected all arguments on the stack from code with
  CodeKind::TURBOFAN to be tagged objects. This is not the case now with
  inlined Wasm calls, and this information can be passed in
  SafepointEntry for each call site.

- Disabled JS-to-Wasm inlining for calls inside try/catch.

03a468f832 [dict-proto] Allow storing certain PropertyDetails in single byte
This CL adds PropertyDetails::ToByte and ::FromByte. These are not
applicable to all PropertDetails, but only those for dictionary-backed
properties with an (unused) enumeration index with value 0.

The motivation for this is that those dictionare backing stores that
don't store the enumeration order in the PropertyDetails but store it
in the table itself (like OrderedNameDictionary and the upcoming
SwissNameDictionary), can store PropertyDetails in an array of bytes.

4e9f651317 [test][turbofan] Add %ObserveNode intrinsic for node-specific tests
(Initially copied from nicohartmann@ CL

This CL adds a new intrinsic %ObserveNode(expr) which has noop semantics
but triggers the new NodeObserver set on the OptimizedCompilationInfo
when the node generated for expr is created or changed in any phase
(until EffectControlLinearization).

This provides the infrastructure to write reasonable unit tests that
check for the construction of or lowering to specific nodes (e.g.
depending on feedback).

When %ObserveNode(expr) is used an object of class ObserveNodeManager is
registered to every Reducer/GraphReducer and is notified by the Reducer
with all node changes. The same logic is added to classes
SimplifiedLowering/RepresentationSelector, which do not inherit from
class Reducer.

Observed Node modifications currently are:
 * The Node Operator
 * The Node type
 * Node replacements

A first use case (cctest/test-sloppy-equality.cc) is included in this CL.

e48b5c6d59 [wasm][memory64] Fix Liftoff on 32-bit and add cctest
This adds a first execution test for memory64 in the form of a cctest.
Several things are still not working correctly, hence this test only
checks TurboFan on 64-bit systems, and Liftoff.

Bounds checks in Liftoff are fixed to work correctly on 32-bit.
Follow-up CLs will extend the test to also test TurboFan on 32-bit, the
interpreter, and traps. All of those features still have issues.

39645430e2 [inspector][wasm] Remove obsolete Debugger.executeWasmEvaluator().
With https://crrev.com/c/2087396 we introduced a new CDP method
`Debugger.executeWasmEvaluator()`, which we originally intended
to use as the foundation for Debug-Evaluate on Wasm frames.

However in the process of prototyping we learned that it is too
costly and too inefficient to use WebAssembly modules here, and
we switched to regular Debug-Evaluate with JavaScript instead
(with a special debug proxy exposed that allows JavaScript to
peak into the Wasm frame), since JavaScript is better suited
for short-lived / short-running snippets and we don't need
clang and wasm-ld then to generate these snippets.

The JavaScript exposed debug proxy (as described in [1]) not
only enables more powerful and flexible Debug-Evaluate for the
DWARF C/C++ extension, but also serves as the basis for various
aspects of the Basic Wasm Developer Experience.

In order to pay down technical debt and to keep the maintenance
overhead low, we should remove the initial prototype now, also
to ensure that we don't accidentally attract other users of CDP
to rely on this unsupported API (despite it being marked as
"experimental").

61cf439687 [TurboFan] Transition SharedFunctionInfo to kNeverSerialized (3)
This is the 3rd step in a series of CLs to move the SharedFunctionInfo
class to kNeverSerialized and make it concurrently accessible from
the background thread. This CL:

* Adds tests that mess with SharedFunctionInfo while it is accessed
  by another thread.

2288b1f638 [TurboFan] Provide concurrent access to feedback vector
This CL provides synchronized get/set to feedback vector slots.
The FeedbackNexus is set up to use order preserving reads when used
on the background thread, and a lock to ensure coherent read
of information for ICKinds with two slots. The main thread takes
the lock on sets.

This test provides patterns to be followed by concurrent TurboFan.

We don't yet access the FeedbackVector on the background thread.
This CL only makes it safe to do so. The next step will come when
the optimizing compiler begins to query the the vector from the
background thread. Currently, with --concurrent-inlining turned on
this is done in bytecode serialization on the main thread. Without
concurrent inlining, it's also done on the main thread, in both
cases using the FeedbackNexus.

The MSAN doesn't seem to be considering initializing stores via inline
assembly as such (in a new cctest helper GetStackPointer()), so this

6ed4495374 [heap] Consolidate marking write barrier logic in MarkingBarrier
This moves marking write barrier related functions from Heap and
IncrementalMarking into a separate class: MarkingBarrier.

Additionally, a new WriteBarrier class is added at the heap API level
that dispatches to MarkingBarrier.

Future CLs will move slots recording in MarkingBarrier and apply
the same refactoring to the generational barrier. An instance of
MarkingBarrier will be added to each LocalHeap and enable it to
emit a write barrier from a background thread.

1d31558f54 [wasm] Move interpreter to test directory
The interpreter is not used in production code any more, hence move it
from src/wasm to test/common/wasm.
It's still used in unit tests, cctests, and in fuzzers.

Because of this move, a few more methods had to be exported via
V8_EXPORT_PRIVATE.

9dbab9bbdb [tracing] Migrate tracing to Perfetto track events
This patch replaces V8's tracing implementation (i.e., the TRACE_EVENT
macros) with the track event base implementation from Perfetto. The
advantages of doing this are:

1) This allows us to remove most tracing-related backend code from V8.

2) V8 can start writing strongly typed trace event arguments, which
   are more compact, easier to process and more extensible than legacy
   JSON-based trace arguments.

For the time being, we still support the old trace macros when V8 is
embedded into Chrome and other embedders.

Add LocalHandleScope to allow for local handles in LocalHeaps
(background threads). This class is similar to HandleScope which still
needs to be used on the main thread. When performing a GC, the main
thread halts all background threads at a safepoint such that it can
safely iterate their roots.

af76dd6e7e [tools] Add v8windbg, a WinDbg extension for V8
Please take a look at tools/v8windbg/README.md for an overview of what
v8windbg can do and how it's structured. This platform-specific
debugging plugin makes use of the data provided by the V8 postmortem
debugging API in tools/debug_helper.

Note: This code began as https://github.com/billti/v8dbg and then moved
into the Edge repository, where I added features gradually and got code
reviews for individual changes. Now, taken in its entirety, it's an
obnoxiously large CL. I'm open to breaking it up into a few chunks if
that would be preferable.

ba14c2f354 [wasm-simd][liftoff] Support SIMD locals
Add kWasmS128 to the list of supported types, and implement Fill for all
the architectures so that LocalGet works.

Add a new test file to contain tests that run only on Liftoff, and
assert that the code is indeed compiled by Liftoff.
We cannot rely on the nooptimization variant for testing
because by default, if Liftoff compilation fails, it will fall back to
Turbofan, and we accidentally get a test passing.

We skip these tests on mips architecture that don't support SIMD, since
there is no way to implement these, and we don't have a "lowering" phase
for Liftoff.

As we implement more of SIMD in Liftoff, we can add more
tests to this file and ensure correctness. Future patches will introduce
support for globals and params.

e27e6fd683 [heap] Implement per-context marking worklist draining
This changes the marking worklist draining for the main thread
marker and the concurrent marker to use the following algorithm in
per-context mode:
1) Pop an object from the marking worklist.
2) Try to infer the native context that owns the objects.
   This is done using a new NativeContextInferrer class.
3) If the inference is successful, then change the active marking
   worklist to the worklist of the inferred native context.
4) Otherwise, keep the current active marking worklist.
5) Visit the object. Newly discovered objects will be pushed
   onto the active marking worklist.
6) Account the object size for the native context corresponding
   to the active marking worklist.
   This is done using a new NativeContextStats class.

The main property of the algorithm is that each object for which
we couldn't infer the native context is either attributed to
the native context retaining it or is not attributed to any native
context.

e08436ce07 [unwinder] Add a new API based on code pages for arm32 support
This new API uses the code pages rather than code ranges approach.

It's supported on arm32, as well as the previous two supported
platforms, x64 and arm64.

Deprecate the old API which only works on x64 and arm64 to reduce the
maintenance overhead of keeping both. Users of the old API should
migrate to the new one as it can be used all on supported platforms.

We keep the tests for the old API by ignoring deprecation warnings so
that we don't accidentally break it while it is still in the codebase.

285e4d69de [unwinder] Add a vector-based code page mechanism for arm32
Add an API on Isolate that returns a sorted vector of code pages allocated
within V8. The implementation is designed to be signal-safe, so that the
user (the UMA sampling profiler) can access this information from a signal
handler, where allocation and taking locks is prohibited.

This CL adds the machinery for maintaining the list of allocated code
pages. Further CLs will modify the Unwinder API itself to accept the code
pages provided by this API.

The unwinder API currently uses the reserved virtual-memory range called
the CodeRange to identify where all V8 code objects live, but this doesn't
exist on arm32 or any 32-bit platform, so this approach adds a way to
expose the location of all valid V8 code objects in a signal-safe way for
use by the UMA sampling profiler.

On 64-bit, this API always gives the code_range and embedded_code_range, and
does not maintain a vector of code pages. This is so that we have a unified
API on 32 and 64-bit that can be used in exactly the same way by embedders.

a0b1a9cd10 [Liftoff] Test deterministic compilation
This adds a few tests that test that the output of Liftoff is
deterministic.
These tests will be extended to test the debug side table in follow-up
CLs.

2ccca6c5ac [tools][torque] Include string values in GetObjectProperties responses
This change provides a quick way to see string contents in postmortem
debugging sessions, without digging through a (possibly very large, in
the case of ConsString) tree of properties. As well as being convenient
for inspecting String objects, this functionality will also be necessary
for displaying property names on JSReceiver objects. In order to support
custom behaviors for specific classes, this change extends the existing
generated debug reader classes with a visitor pattern.

3f1f001a67 Unwind V8 frames correctly on Windows ARM64
On Windows ARM64, OS stack walking does not work because the V8 ARM64 backend
doesn't emit unwinding info and also because it doesn't emit ABI compliant
stack frames. This was fixed for Windows X64 (https://crrev.com/c/1469329) and
documented below:

This problem can be fixed similarly for Windows ARM64 by observing that V8
frames usually all have the same prolog which maintains a chain via frame
pointer (fp or x29 register).

stp fp, lr, [sp, ...]

One exception is JSEntry which stops fp pointer chain and needs to be handled
specially.

So it is possible to define XDATA with UNWIND_CODE which specify how Windows
should walk through V8 dynamic frames. The same as X64, since V8 Code objects
are all allocated in the same code-range for an Isolate, it is possible to
register at most 2 XDATA and a group of PDATA entries to cover stack walking
for all the code generated inside that code-range. This is more than 1
PDATA/XDATA because according to the Windows ARM64 exeption handling document,
1 PDATA can cover less than 1MB code range (see below doc).

This PR implements stackwalk for Windows ARM64 to be on par with X64, including
embedded builtins, jitted code and wasm jitted code, but not including register
handler for handling exception only, because there is no backward compatibility
to maintain for Windows ARM64 which was released since 1709 windows build.

This change begins to implement the functionality described in

for investigating V8 state in crash dumps.

This change adds a new library, v8_debug_helper, for providing platform-
agnostic assistance with postmortem debugging. This library can be used
by extensions built for debuggers such as WinDbg or lldb. Its public API
is described by debug-helper.h; currently the only method it exposes is
GetObjectProperties, but we'd like to add more functionality over time.
The API surface is restricted to plain C-style structs and pointers, so
that it's easy to link from a debugger extension built with a different
toolchain.

This change also adds a new cctest file to exercise some basic
interaction with the new library.

The API function GetObjectProperties takes an object pointer (which
could be compressed, or weak, or a SMI), and returns a string
description of the object and a list of properties the object contains.
For now, the list of properties is entirely based on Torque object
definitions, but we expect to add custom properties in future updates so
that it can be easier to make sense of complex data structures such as
dictionaries.

GetObjectProperties does several things that are intended to generate
somewhat useful results even in cases where memory may be corrupt or
unavailable:
- The caller may optionally provide a type string which will be used if
  the memory for the object's Map is inaccessible.
- All object pointers are compared against the list of known objects

7da816ee86 [test] Add bytecode-expectation test
This adds a simple test calling:
generate-bytecode-expectations --check-baseline

It's added on one CQ and one CI builder. The infra side specifying the
command line landed here:
https://crrev.com/c/1709454

For the command to succeed on swarming we instruct the isolate server
to archive the executable alongside with all the *.golden files needed
for the --check-baseline command.
