This CL (finally) makes the contract between the compiler and the module
environment clear. In order to compile a function, the caller must provide
an instance of the compiler::ModuleEnv struct, which contains references
to code, function and signature tables, memory start, etc.

This CL consolidates ownership of parameters used to compile code (which
we always specialize) in 2 places:
- ModuleEnv for compile-time data
- WasmCompiledModule for runtime data
The parameters in question are: memory size and start; globals start;
address of indirect function tables (and their signatures, respectively);
and address to be used for wasm call sites.
Ideally, we'd collapse this down to one place, however, we need
specialization data to survive serialization. We can achieve this we get off
the GC heap and use a different wasm code serializer.
The CL:
- removes aliasing of parts of the specialization data, and moves
to using ModuleEnv as a token of passing around compile-time data, instead
of a mixture of ModuleEnv, WasmInstance, and some other structures. ModuleEnv
is responsible for providing a consistent view of the specialization data,
e.g. valid memory sizes (multiples of page size), and matching sized function
tables and signatures.
- removes WasmInstance, as its data is now contained by ModuleEnv.
- removes ModuleBytesEnv. We now pass the wire bytes explicitly. They can't
always be assumed as present (e.g. streaming compilation), and probably more
refactoring may need to happen once streaming compilation lands and we
better understand our dependencies.

This is part of the effort to consolidate the ownership of
wasm instantiation/specialization parameters.
This change is focused solely on the interpreter part of that effort, to
verify we're not regressing performance in interpreter benchmarks.
There are two aspects being addressed:
- dataflow-wise, we always fetch the interpreter's memory view from the
runtime objects (i.e. WasmInstanceObject/WasmCompiledModule). This is
consistent with how other instance-specific information is obtained
(e.g. code, indirect functions).
- representation-wise, we do not reuse ModuleEnv/WasmInstance just for
the memory view, because it is surprising that other instance info isn't
accessed from there.

The interpreter was not able to call imported wasm functions (hitting
UNIMPLEMENTED). This CL fixes this by creating a "CWasmEntry", which is
signature-specific. It has JS linkage and receives the wasm code object
to call and a buffer containing all arguments (similar to the
interpreter entry). It loads all arguments from the buffer and calls the
given code object.
The c-wasm-entry code objects are cached per instance, such that we
only create them once per signature.
These wasm entry stubs will also allow us to call back to compiled code
from the interpreter, which we might want to do to reduce the slowdown
of executing wasm for debugging.

This CL avoids the need to reference the function tables (and signatures)
as either fixed arrays or vectors, preferring vectors.
The only place we need fixed arrays is on the compiled module, to support
serialization. When we move off the GC heap, we'll also move away
from fixed arrays in that last case.
The CL aids with getting wasm of the GC heap, by reducing the places
and representations we'll need to change when changing the way we
reference fixed tables.

Storing global handles in the interpreter is dangerous, because the
global handles are strong roots into the heap. The interpreter itself is
referenced from the heap via a Managed. Hence the interpreter keeps the

This CL refactors this to only store the handle to the instance object

It also removes the cache of import wrappers, as it should not be

need that for the WasmCompilationUnits being currently compiled, which
is a number proportional to the number of background threads provided
by the embedder. Specifically, one zone is needed only for the duration
of the background compilation, while the second zone needs to survive
past that, so the compilation results may be committed to the GC heap
as Code objects.
The problem with these large objects is that the first allocation
in a Zone is at minimum 8KB. We used to allocate 2 zones. For
modules with 200K functions, that means 3.2GB of memory pre-allocated
before any of it is actually needed.
This change attaches a Handle to the CEntryStub on the WasmCompilationUnits,
and delays zone creation to when needed. The change also adds a way to
cache CEntryStubs in a JSGraph from a given Code handle - limited to the
scenario needed by wasm (and removable once we get wasm off the GC heap,
which subsumes removing this dependency on CEntryStubs)
An additional constraint for this change is that we want it to be easily
back-mergeable to address chromium:723899.
For the wasm payload in question, collecting the max memory used by d8
using /usr/bin/time --format='(%Xtext+%Ddata %Mmax)', we get the
following numbers (in KB):
- unchanged: 3307480
- patch 1: 1807140 (45% reduction)

Most prototype implementations are not fully supported in the
interpreter. This is the case at least for exception handling, simd, and
atomics. Any function can be redirected to the interpreter though,
either by passing --wasm-interpret-all, or by dynamically redirecting to
the interpreter for debugging.
Making the flags experimental keeps the fuzzer from playing around with
these flags.
Drive-by: Refactor tests which explicitly set the prototype flag to use

This CL adds support for indirect function calls to the interpreter. It
can indirectly call other wasm function in the same instance, which are
then executed in the interpreter, or call imported functions.
Implementing this required some refactoring:
- The wasm interpreter now unwraps import wrappers on demand, instead
of unwrapping all of them on instantiation and storing a vector of
handles. This also avoids the DeferredHandleScope completely, instead
we just store two global handles in the code map.
- The interpreter gets the code table, function tables and signature
tables directly from the attached wasm instance object. This ensures
that the interpreter sees all updates to tables that might have been
performed by external code.
- There is now common functionality for calling a code object. This is
used for direct calls to imported functions and for all indirect
calls. As these code objects can also be wasm functions which should
be executed in the interpreter itself, I introduce a struct to hold
the outcome of calling the code object, or a pointer to
InterpreterCode to be called in the interpreter.

For imported functions, we do not create entries in the
interpreter_code_ vector any more.
I also simplified the interface and removed unused or redundant return
values. More things are now DCHECKed instead of bailing out.
Also, we previously had two PushFrame methods: One is supposed to
initialize the interpreter from external code (i.e. adds the first
frame to the stack), the other one is used to push new frames on the
frame stack for called functions. This CL renames the first to
InitFrame, and makes it use the second one. The other remaining user is
the DoCall method.

This is basically the minimum viable signal handler for Wasm bounds checks.
It includes the TLS check and the fine grained instructions checks. These
two checks provide most of the safety for the signal handler. Future CLs will
add code range and data range checks for more robustness.
The trap handling code and data structures are all in src/trap-handler, with
the code that actually runs in the signal handler confined to
src/trap-handler/signal-handler.cc.
This changes adds a new V8 API that the embedder should call from a signal
handler that will give V8 the chance to handle the fault first. For hosts that
do not want to implement their own signal handler, we include the option to
install a simple one. This simple handler is also used for the tests.
When a Wasm module is instantiated, information about each function is passed
to the trap handler, which is used to classify faults. These are removed during
the instance finalizer.
Several future enhancements are planned before turning this on by default.
Obviously, the additional checks will be added to MaybeHandleFault. We are
also planning to add a two-level CodeObjectData table that is grouped by
isolates to make cleanup easier and also reduce potential for contending on
a single data structure.

Native resources allocated by v8, as internal implementation detail,
and held by a Foreign object, must be released when the Isolate is
torn down. Example: wasm::WasmModule allocated by wasm compile, and
held throughout the lifetime of the WebAssembly.Module object.
This change:
- Extends Managed<CppType> with a mechanism for doing just that
- Separates the role of Managed<CppType> to be strictly an owner of
the lifetime of the native resource. For cases where that's not
desirable, we can polymorphically use Foregin.
- moves managed.h out of wasm, since it's not wasm-specific.

The use of setjmp/longjmp makes the cctests in test-run-wasm and
test-run-wasm-64 flaky on Windows, and I think that it is better not
to use it. With this CL I replace it as follows:
Similar to the setjmp/longjmp implementation we still call a C
function when a trap happens. However, instead of calling longjmp in
this C function we just set a flag which indicates that a trap
happened and then return. After we return from the C function we leave
the frame of the current wasm function and return with a RET
instruction. At the end of a test the wasm test runner checks the flag
to see if a trap happened.
Please take a special look at the LeaveFrame function on arm64.

I removed some constant folding optimizations for float instruction in
https://codereview.chromium.org/2647353007 because they were incorrect
if the input was a signalling NaN. Removing these optimizations, however
had an unexpectedly big impact on asm.js performance. With this CL I
restore the optimizations again when the source origin is not wasm. In
JavaScript signalling NaNs are not observable and therefore the
optimizations are correct.

This basically tests all the layers involved: Compiling and running
wasm interpreter entries, passing arguments to the interpreter, storing
break point infos in wasm objects, getting the right BreakLocation from

When executing wasm code for testing, we did not create a
WasmInstanceObject and link it to the generated code. This required
some special handling at runtime (mainly for stack trace generation).
This CL always provides the WasmInstanceObject, such that e.g. function
names can be resolved the usual way.
The module bytes referenced by the WasmCompiledModule linked with the
WasmInstanceObject do not hold a valid wasm module yet. Instead, we
just add the bytes we need, and make the objects in WasmModule point to
those bytes (currently only used for function names). Those bytes will
not be parsed at runtime anyway.

Some instructions in WebAssembly trap for some inputs, which means that the
execution is terminated and (at least at the moment) a JavaScript exception is
thrown. Examples for traps are out-of-bounds memory accesses, or integer
divisions by zero.
Without the TrapIf and TrapUnless operators trap check in WebAssembly introduces 5
TurboFan nodes (branch, if_true, if_false, trap-reason constant, trap-position
constant), in addition to the trap condition itself. Additionally, each
WebAssembly function has four TurboFan nodes (merge, effect_phi, 2 phis) whose
number of inputs is linear to the number of trap checks in the function.
Especially for functions with high numbers of trap checks we observe a
significant slowdown in compilation time, down to 0.22 MiB/s in the sqlite
benchmark instead of the average of 3 MiB/s in other benchmarks. By introducing
a TrapIf common operator only a single node is necessary per trap check, in
addition to the trap condition. Also the nodes which are shared between trap
checks (merge, effect_phi, 2 phis) would disappear. First measurements suggest a
speedup of 30-50% on average.
This CL only implements TrapIf and TrapUnless on x64. The implementation is also
hidden behind the --wasm-trap-if flag.
Please take a special look at how the source position is transfered from the
instruction selector to the code generator, and at the context that is used for
the runtime call.

In the asm.js code translated to wasm, we call imported functions via a
WASM_TO_JS stub, which first calls the function and then calls ToNumber
on the return value. Exceptions can happen in both calls.
We were only ever reporting the location of the function call, whereas
asm.js code executed via turbofan reported the location of the type
coercion operator ("+" on "+foo()" or "|" on "foo()|0").
This CL implements the same behaviour for asm.js code translated to
wasm. The following is changed:
- the AsmWasmBuilder records the parent node when descending on a binary
operator (also "+foo()" is represented by a binary operation).
- it stores not one location per call in the source position side
table, but two (one for the call, one for the parent which does the
type coercion).
- the wasm compiler annotates the source positions "0" and "1" to the
two calls in the WASM_TO_JS wrapper (only if the module origin is
asm.js).
- the StackFrame::State struct now also holds the callee_pc_address,
which is set in ComputeCallerState. The WASM frame uses this
information to determine whether the callee frame is WASM_TO_JS, and
whether that frame is at the ToNumber conversion call.
- the same information is also stored in the FrameArray which is used
to reconstruct the stack trace later.

These byte pointers (module_start and module_end) were only valid
during decoding. During instantiation or execution, they can get
invalidated by garbage collection.
This CL removes them from the WasmModule struct, and introduces a new
ModuleStorage struct as interface to the wasm wire bytes.
Since the storage is often needed together with the ModuleEnv, a new
ModuleStorageEnv struct holds both a ModuleEnv and a ModuleStorage.
The pointers in the ModuleStorage should never escape the live range of
this struct, as they might point into a SeqOneByteString or ArrayBuffer.
Therefore, the WasmInterpreter needs to create its own copy of the
whole module.
Runtime functions that previously used the raw pointers in WasmModule
(leading to memory errors) now have to use the SeqOneByteString in the
WasmCompiledModule.

SourcePosition::InliningId() refers to a the new table DeoptimizationInputData::InliningPositions(), which provides the following data for every inlining id:
- The inlined SharedFunctionInfo as an offset into DeoptimizationInfo::LiteralArray
- The SourcePosition of the inlining. Recursively, this yields the full inlining stack.
Before the Code object is created, the same information can be found in CompilationInfo::inlined_functions().
If SourcePosition::InliningId() is SourcePosition::kNotInlined, it refers to the outer (non-inlined) function.
So every SourcePosition has full information about its inlining stack, as long as the corresponding Code object is known. The internal represenation of a source position is a positive 64bit integer.
All compilers create now appropriate source positions for inlined functions. In the case of Turbofan, this required using AstGraphBuilderWithPositions for inlined functions too. So this class is now moved to a header file.
At the moment, the additional information in source positions is only used in --trace-deopt and --code-comments. The profiler needs to be updated, at the moment it gets the correct script offsets from the deopt info, but the wrong script id from the reconstructed deopt stack, which can lead to wrong outputs. This should be resolved by making the profiler use the new inlining information for deopts.
I activated the inlined deoptimization tests in test-cpu-profiler.cc for Turbofan, changing them to a case where the deopt stack and the inlining position agree. It is currently still broken for other cases.
The following additional changes were necessary:
- The source position table (internal::SourcePositionTableBuilder etc.) supports now 64bit source positions. Encoding source positions in a single 64bit int together with the difference encoding in the source position table results in very little overhead for the inlining id, since only 12% of the source positions in Octane have a changed inlining id.
- The class HPositionInfo was effectively dead code and is now removed.
- SourcePosition has new printing and information facilities, including computing a full inlining stack.
- I had to rename compiler/source-position.{h,cc} to compiler/compiler-source-position-table.{h,cc} to avoid clashes with the new src/source-position.cc file.
- I wrote the new wrapper PodArray for ByteArray. It is a template working with any POD-type. This is used in DeoptimizationInputData::InliningPositions().
- I removed HInlinedFunctionInfo and HGraph::inlined_function_infos, because they were only used for the now obsolete Crankshaft inlining ids.
- Crankshaft managed a list of inlined functions in Lithium: LChunk::inlined_functions. This is an analog structure to CompilationInfo::inlined_functions. So I removed LChunk::inlined_functions and made Crankshaft use CompilationInfo::inlined_functions instead, because this was necessary to register the offsets into the literal array in a uniform way. This is a safe change because LChunk::inlined_functions has no other uses and the functions in CompilationInfo::inlined_functions have a strictly longer lifespan, being created earlier (in Hydrogen already).

This is preparation for using TF to create builtins that handle variable number of
arguments and have to remove these arguments dynamically from the stack upon
return.
The gist of the changes:
- Added a second argument to the Return node which specifies the number of stack
slots to pop upon return in addition to those specified by the Linkage of the
compiled function.
- Removed Tail -> Non-Tail fallback in the instruction selector. Since TF now should
handles all tail-call cases except where the return value type differs, this fallback
was not really useful and in fact caused unexpected behavior with variable
sized argument popping, since it wasn't possible to materialize a Return node
with the right pop count from the TailCall without additional context.
- Modified existing Return generation to pass a constant zero as the additional
pop argument since the variable pop functionality

This is preparation for using TF to create builtins that handle variable number of
arguments and have to remove these arguments dynamically from the stack upon
return.

The wasm specification does not fully specify the binary representation
of NaN: the sign bit can be non-deterministic. The wasm-code fuzzer
found a test case where the wasm interpreter and the compiled code
produce a different sign bit for a NaN, and as a consequence they
produce different results.
With this CL the interpreter tracks whether it executed an instruction
which can produce a NaN, which are div and sqrt instructions. The
fuzzer uses this information and compares the result of the interpreter
with the result of the compiled code only if there was no instruction
which could have produced a NaN.

This CL refactors the handling of metadata associated with WebAssembly
modules to reduce the duplicate marshalling of data from the C++ world
to the JavaScript world. It does this by wrapping the C++ WasmModule*
object in a Foreign that is rooted from the on-heap WasmCompiledModule
(which is itself just a FixedArray). Upon serialization, the C++ object
is ignored and the original WASM wire bytes are serialized. Upon
deserialization, the C++ object is reconstituted by reparsing the bytes.
This is motivated by increasing complications in implementing the JS
API, in particular WebAssembly.Table, which must perform signature
canonicalization across instances.
Additionally, this CL implements the proper base + offset initialization
behavior for tables.

test-run-wasm-module cctests broken in debug since recent refactoring changes for moving Compilation/Instantiation off the module object (https://codereview.chromium.org/2320723005). The problem here is that SetupIsolateForWasm tries to add the same property to a module_object multiple times and hits a DCHECK when this property is found on a lookup.
- Fixed to use the setup method only once when CcTest::InitIsolateOnce is used.
- Move setup method to test as this is only used for cctests/fuzzers. The install method should take care of this in the regular JS pipeline.

This patch updates internal data structures used by V8 to support
multiple indirect function tables (WebAssembly/design#682). But, since
this feature is post-MVP, the functionality is not directly exposed and
parsing/generation of WebAssembly is left unchanged. Nevertheless, it
is being used in an experiment to implement fine-grained control flow

endianness before storing to memory and after loading from

This reverts commit 1eb1dfabe4.
The original compilation separation change avoided associating a heap
for the wasm instance if memory was not provided, nor needed. The
grow memory CL assumed the old behavior, where a memory buffer was
always present, but may have had a zero size.
The 2CLS landed shortly after one another. We decided to treat the
grow memory as the race condition winner, so this CL here re-lands
compilation separation, plus adjusts grow memory to deal with
the undefined mem buffer.

Support for serializing/deserializing the compiled wasm module.
We want to reuse the javascript snapshotting mechanics, at least in the
short term, when we still use the JS heap for the compiled wasm code.
Given that a module may be compiled in one v8 instance and then
instantiated later, in a different instance, whatever information we need
at instantiation time must also be serializable.
We currently hold on to the un-decoded wasm bytes, for enabling
debugging scenarios. This imposes a ~20% penalty on the memory
requirements of the wasm compiled code. We do not need this data
otherwise, for runtime, and it is sensible to consider eventually loading it
on demand. Therefore, I intentionally avoided relying on it and re-
decoding the wasm module data, and instead saved the information
necessary to support instantiation.
Given how whatever we need to persist must be serializable, the CL
uses a structure made out of serializable objects (fixed arrays mostly)
for storing this information. I preferred going this route rather than
adding more wasm-specific support to the serializer, given that we want
to eventually move off the JS heap, and therefore the serializer.
Additionally, it turns out this extra information is relatively not complex:
minimal structure, little nesting depth, mostly simple data like numbers
or byte blobs, or opaque data like compiled functions.
This CL also moves export compilation ahead of instantiation time.
This change added a helper getter to FixedArray, to make typed retrieval
of elements easier.

Compilation of wasm functions happens before instantiation. Imports are linked afterwards, at instantiation time. Globals and memory are also
allocated and then tied in via relocation at instantiation time.
This paves the way for implementing Wasm.compile, a prerequisite to
offering the compiled code serialization feature.
Currently, the WasmModule::Compile method just returns a fixed array
containing the code objects. More appropriate modeling of the compiled module to come.
Opportunistically centralized the logic on how to update memory
references, size, and globals, since that logic is the exact same on each
architecture, except for the actual storing of values back in the
instruction stream.

I extended the Int64Lowering to lower calls, loads, stores, returns, and
parameters and apply the lowering on both the test function TF graph and
the WasmRunner TF graph.
The lowering of calls also requires an adjustment of the call descriptor.

The BufferedRawMachineAssemblerTester caused problems for the
Int64Lowering. Instead we construct a TF graph now which is compiled by
Pipeline::GenerateCodeForTesting.

The goal of the Int64Reducer is to replace all int64 nodes in a tf graph
with a set of int32 nodes such that 64 bit tf functions can be executed
on 32 bit platforms. At the moment the Int64Reducer only replaces
Int64Constants, TruncateInt64ToInt32, and Word64And.

Motivated by finding a bug in a larger module, this CL adds the ability
to dump out a byte-by-byte, nested view of the decoded AST. This
byte-by-byte output uses the opcode enum to make it readable, but is
suitable for pasting into a byte[] in C or JS and thus making a regression
test.
Also fix a bug; the case of running out of registers for indirect calls.
