cb9d0fe7f4 [Complier] Only optimize a function marked for tier-up if it is compiled.
When mark-shared-funtion-for-tier-up is enabled, a function could be marked for
optimization, then the baseline (FCG) code is flushed by the GC. The next time
the function is executed, we shouldn't optimize the code if there isn't
baseline code.

If the eval contains a let, we need to know whether an inner function

The added test needs https://codereview.chromium.org/2435023002/ too

7bd61b601c [wasm] Introduce the TrapIf and TrapUnless operators to generate trap code.
Some instructions in WebAssembly trap for some inputs, which means that the
execution is terminated and (at least at the moment) a JavaScript exception is
thrown. Examples for traps are out-of-bounds memory accesses, or integer
divisions by zero.

Without the TrapIf and TrapUnless operators trap check in WebAssembly introduces 5
TurboFan nodes (branch, if_true, if_false, trap-reason constant, trap-position
constant), in addition to the trap condition itself. Additionally, each
WebAssembly function has four TurboFan nodes (merge, effect_phi, 2 phis) whose
number of inputs is linear to the number of trap checks in the function.
Especially for functions with high numbers of trap checks we observe a
significant slowdown in compilation time, down to 0.22 MiB/s in the sqlite
benchmark instead of the average of 3 MiB/s in other benchmarks. By introducing
a TrapIf common operator only a single node is necessary per trap check, in
addition to the trap condition. Also the nodes which are shared between trap
checks (merge, effect_phi, 2 phis) would disappear. First measurements suggest a
speedup of 30-50% on average.

This CL only implements TrapIf and TrapUnless on x64. The implementation is also
hidden behind the --wasm-trap-if flag.

Please take a special look at how the source position is transfered from the
instruction selector to the code generator, and at the context that is used for
the runtime call.

ae741d042c [Interpreter] Allocate registers used as call arguments on-demand.
Allocate the registers used as arguments to a call on-demand after visiting the
argument (or reciever). This means that the visited expression can use registers
that would otherwise have been allocated for arguments which haven't been
visited yet.

The reason for doing this is to avoid keeping things live in registers
unecessarily for chained function calls, which avoids a memory leak for
functions which chain a large number of calls with large temporary arguments /
recievers.

6c620e5312 Fix usage of literal cloning for large double arrays.
This fixes a corner case where the {FastCloneShallowArrayStub} was used
for literals that are backed by a double backing store and would exceed
limits for new-space allocations on 32-bit architectures. The stub in
question does not support such literals, callers must use the runtime.
Note that this fix is for Ignition as well as FullCodeGenerator.

77b50a8e12 [wasm] disable serialization for asm-wasm
Determine if the scope of the function to be serialized includes asm-
wasm, and if so, bypass serialization, since we do not support it in
that scenario.

In this change, we do so regardless of whether the asm-wasm path was
successful. This is so we keep the design simple, since the guidance
to developers, moving forward, is to use wasm.

bbf3c697ae [heap] Initialize the owner on each page after lospace allocation
The least two bits of the owner field of a Page are used to determine
whether the Page is part of a large object. If these bits are not equal
to 0x11, the page is part of a large object and needs special handling
e.g. in MemoryChunk::FromAnyPointerAddress to determine which chunk it
belongs to.

This CL fixes an issue in which the store buffer overflows after
a large object space allocation but before the object has been fully
initialized. Store buffer overflow handling attempts to look up the
chunk of a page, but fails to do so correctly since the page's owner
field has not yet been initialized.

This CL ensures that the owner field of all pages belonging to a large
object allocation are initialized to a value that is interpreted
correctly.

890d28f361 [wasm] Fix location for error in asm.js ToNumber conversion
In the asm.js code translated to wasm, we call imported functions via a
WASM_TO_JS stub, which first calls the function and then calls ToNumber
on the return value. Exceptions can happen in both calls.
We were only ever reporting the location of the function call, whereas
asm.js code executed via turbofan reported the location of the type
coercion operator ("+" on "+foo()" or "|" on "foo()|0").

This CL implements the same behaviour for asm.js code translated to
wasm. The following is changed:
- the AsmWasmBuilder records the parent node when descending on a binary
  operator (also "+foo()" is represented by a binary operation).
- it stores not one location per call in the source position side
  table, but two (one for the call, one for the parent which does the
  type coercion).
- the wasm compiler annotates the source positions "0" and "1" to the
  two calls in the WASM_TO_JS wrapper (only if the module origin is
  asm.js).
- the StackFrame::State struct now also holds the callee_pc_address,
  which is set in ComputeCallerState. The WASM frame uses this
  information to determine whether the callee frame is WASM_TO_JS, and
  whether that frame is at the ToNumber conversion call.
- the same information is also stored in the FrameArray which is used
  to reconstruct the stack trace later.

ae1c5746f2 [wasm] Fix ToNumber conversion
There were two bugs, one partly hiding the other one:
1) We generate the ToNumber conversion for each WASM_TO_JS wrapper,
   even if the expected return type is void.
2) The return node in the WASM_TO_JS wrapper did not use the effect of
   the ToNumber conversion.

This CL fixes both, and adds test cases to check that we do throw an
error trying to convert (e.g.) Symbol to a number, but only if the
return type is not void.
Additional test check that a user-provided valueOf method is actually
called the correct number of times.

This fixes the existing workaround in {BytecodeGraphBuilder} where the

For bound functions on the right-hand side of instanceof we can

777e142ca1 [turbofan] Add appropriate types to express Callable.
This introduces three new types OtherCallable, CallableProxy (and OtherProxy),
and BoundFunction to make it possible to express Callable in the Type system.
It also forces all undetectable receivers to be Callable, which matches the
use case for undetectable, namely document.all (guarded by proper checks and
tests).

It also uses these new types to properly optimize instanceof (indirectly via
OrdinaryHasInstance) based on the type of the constructor and the object. So
we are able to constant-fold certain instanceof expressions based on types
and completely avoid the builtin call.

0c6b6138bf X87: [test] disable number-tostring test case for x87.
The reason:
  The CL #41255 (https://codereview.chromium.org/2520363002 ) reimplemnt the Number.prototype.toString and the added number-tostring test cases failed at x87.

  Similar to many previos fixing CLs, i.e.: CL #37371 (https://codereview.chromium.org/2111493002 ), the root reason is:
  The Gcc compiler and it's dependent C++ libraris on linux platform use x87 in extended 80-bit double precision by default.
  So the reimplemented DoubleToRadixCString() will generate extended 80-bit double precision result which isn't the expected standard 64-bit double precision
  value.

  Although modifying DoubleToRadixCString() function to manually do the 80-bit <--> 64-bit conversion for each double/float computation step can fix this issue,
  but it wll drop the DoubleToRadixCString() function's performance of other architectures.

  This CL put the failed number-tostring test cases into number-tostring-big-integer.js and disables it for x87.

76fd6f25a9 [turbofan] Remove inlining support for the deprecated pipeline.
The deprecated pipeline is used for asm.js only, where we forcibly
disable inlining anyways (for performance reasons), so inlining via
the AstGraphBuilder is essentially dead code by now, thus there's no
point in trying to keep that around in the code base.

Also nuke the test-run-inlining.cc file, which would require some heavy
surgery (for probably little benefit), and move the useful tests for
mjsunit tests instead.

because we register only when we're done processing a block.

9eec1c8617 [debug-wrapper] Migrate wasm/frame-inspection test
Wasm frames are special in that they have a non-integer script id
in inspector. The way we treat script ids currently is a bit of a mess -
our runtime functions expected integer IDs while inspector has string
IDs (which contain integers, except for Wasm frames). This will need to
be cleaned up once more Wasm tests are added.

The meaning of line/column numbers has also changed; the old JS debug
API encoded the function index and byte offset into line/column numbers,
while inspector-based API actually translates into lines/columns in the
disassembly.

It originates from the era where we used to run a separate preparse step

more.

In addition, this way we get more test coverage for preparser (for small

241c024c10 [turbofan] Properly optimize instanceof (even in the presence of @@hasInstance).
This is the TurboFan counterpart of http://crrev.com/2504263004, but it
is a bit more involved, since in TurboFan we always inline the appropriate
call to the @@hasInstance handler, and by that we can optimize a lot more
patterns of instanceof than Crankshaft, and even yield fast instanceof
for custom @@hasInstance handlers (which we can now properly inline as
well).

Also we now properly optimize Function.prototype[@@hasInstance], even if
the right hand side of an instanceof doesn't have the Function.prototype
as its direct prototype.

For the baseline case, we still rely on the global protector cell, but
we can address that in a follow-up as well, and make it more robust in
general.

b06c4ce5a6 [debug-wrapper] Further extend the debug wrapper
This CL further extends the debug wrapper, migrates around 60 tests, and
removes a few tests that use functionality we will not support anymore.

In more detail:

* Removed tests that use:
  * enable/disable individual breakpoints
  * invocationText()
  * the ScriptCollected event
  * showBreakPoints
  * evalFromScript (and similar)
  * mirror.constructedBy and mirror.referencedBy
  * event_data.promise()
* Some frame.evaluate uses were adapted since due to differences between
  remote objects (inspector) and mirrors. For instance, exceptions are
  currently not recreated exactly, since the inspector protocol does not
  give us the stack and message separately. Other objects (such as
  'this' in debug-evaluate-receiver-before-super) need to be explicitly
  converted to a string before the test works correctly.
* Ensure that inspector stores the script before sending ScriptParsed and
  ScriptFailedToParse events in order to be able to use the script from
  within those events.
* Better remote object reconstruction (e.g. for undefined and arrays).
* New functionality in wrapper:
  * debuggerFlags().breakPointsActive.setValue()
  * scripts()
  * execState.setVariableValue()
  * execState.scopeObject().value()
  * execState.scopeObject().property()
  * execState.frame().allScopes()
  * eventData.exception()

Methods in the runtime that enumerate over properties should never deal with private symbols. Most commonly such methods only loop over enumerable properties. This fix avoids accidentally handling private symbols in methods that only deal with enumerable properties. Methods that need to look at non-enumerable properties as well still have to manually filter private symbols (e.g., the KeyAccumulator).

This CL adds support for:

Uses of several functions that are not covered by the
inspector protocol and are only used in tests have been removed.

Local handling has been modified to also include arguments as locals.
Inspector differs in this regard from our FrameDetails in that
arguments are always shown as locals. Argument-related functions
were removed.

93c6595200 [turbofan] Advance bytecode offset after lazy deopt.
This changes {FrameState} nodes modeling "after" states to use bytecode
offsets pointing to the deoptimizing bytecode. This is in sync with the
normal execution, as the bytecode offset is advanced after operations
complete in regular bytecode handlers.

The change is necessary to ensure lazy deoptimized frames contain an
accurate bytecode offset while they are on the stack. Such frames can be
inspected by various stack walks. The continuation builtin will advance
the bytecode offset upon return.

5975c47a6a Avoid calling out to JS during stack overflow
If an exception is thrown when there is a Promise being created, the Promise
catch prediction code would call into a part implemented in JavaScript to see if
the Promise has a catch handler. If it is not possible to call back into JS,
e.g., due to a stack overflow, then this would lead to a crash. This patch
"speculates" that, if it's impossible to call back into JavaScript, then the
error is unhandled, avoding the issue. In a future patch, the catch prediction
logic should be entirely written in C++, but this patch adds a minimal fix to
be more friendly to backports.

3de5204737 [wasm] Indirect calls without function table cause validation errors.
The spec defines that indirect calls in WebAssembly code should cause a
validation error if no function table exists.

The CL contains the following changes:
1) Throw a validation error for indirect calls if the function table
   not exist.
2) Do not create TF nodes to throw a runtime error for indirect calls
   if the function table does not exist.
3) Fix existing unit tests by creating a dummy function table.
4) Add new a new test which tests that indirect calls without function

This CL adds further support to the test wrapper. We are now able to
run almost all mjsunit/debug-step-* tests using the inspector backend.

debug-stepframe-* tests are not yet supported since inspector does not
know a 'frame' step type.

The interface has also been improved to be able to move these tests to
inspector mostly without modification.

With this CL we use the index into the function table directly as

This disables the usage of the {maybe_assigned} flag that the variable

analysis is fundamentally broken for destructuring and top-level lexical

even though it is not validated. One can still trigger the bug by using
invalid constructs within a function marked with "use asm". The fix is
intentionally minimal so that it can be merged to release branches.

This turns the ZoneList with minimum 6 words overhead into a linked list through variables, using 2 words for the empty list. Additionally the average number of pointers per entry goes down to the optimal 1 per variable that's in a list.

This does introduce 1 pointer unnecessary overhead for dynamic variables. If that becomes a problem we could distinguish between variables in lists and variables not in lists. We can distinguish them at construction-time.

83b560b0e5 [debugger] Various break-related functionality in test wrapper
This CL adds simple implementation of break and stepping-related functionality
as required by the debug-step.js test. This includes

* stepOver, stepInto, stepOut
* setBreakPoint
* clearBreakPoint
* evaluate

Some of these, e.g. setBreakPoint are not fully implemented for all cases but
only for the ones we need right now.

One interesting result of this is that using the inspector protocol is roughly
14x slower for debug-step.js (14s instead of 0.5s). One cause of this seems to
be iteration over all object properties in toProtocolValue, which is used to
serialize JS objects before being sent over the wire (e.g. FrameMirrors). This
is something that should be fixed at some point. In the meantime, the test now
runs 100 instead of 1000 iterations.

2bd7464ec1 [compiler] Properly validate stable map assumption for globals.
For global object property cells, we did not check that the map on the
previous object is still the same for which we actually optimized. So
the optimized code was not in sync with the actual state of the property
cell. When loading from such a global object property cell, Crankshaft
optimizes away any map checks (based on the stable map assumption),
leading to arbitrary memory access in the worst case.

TurboFan has the same bug for stores, but is safe on loads because we
do appropriate map checks there. However mixing TurboFan and Crankshaft
still exposes the bug.

2ab2ec2243 [turbofan] Disable bogus lowering of builtin tail-calls.
The TurboFan backends currently don't support tail-calls to CPP builtins
because the semantics of kJavaScriptCallArgCountRegister has different
semantics for stub call descriptors versus JavaScript call descriptors.
This is actually a short-coming of the backends and follow-up work will
make the backends more robust in that regard to fail hard on unsupported
constructs like that. This just disables the lowering creating such a
tail-call.

f33a4078e8 [runtime] Let native setters have a return value.
Native setters (see AccessorInfo in accessors.h) didn't have the ability
to return a result value. As a consequence of this, for instance, Reflect.set
on the length property of arrays had the wrong behavior:

var y = [];
Object.defineProperty(y, 0, {value: 42, configurable: false})
Reflect.set(y, 'length', 0)

The Reflect.set call used to return true. Now it returns false as
required by the spec.

381b5437b2 Don't call FastNewFunctionContextStub if context is bigger than kMaxRegularHeapObjectSize.
CL https://codereview.chromium.org/2177273002 changed FastNewFunctionContextStub
to take a number of slots parameter and in-doing so removed the maximum slot
count for FastNewFunctionContextStub. This made it possible to create a
closure which is larger than kMaxRegularHeapObjectSize and so can't be
allocated by FastNewFunctionContextStub.

Reintroduce FastNewFunctionContextStub::kMaxSlots (but make the limit much
larger) to ensure we call the runtime for contexts which need to be
allocated in the LO space.

eb10dc4c91 [regexp] Use consistent map checks for fast paths
These map checks were implemented for TF code already. This CL makes
sure that parts implemented in C++ follow the same logic, which is:

An object is an unmodified regexp if:
1) it's a receiver,
2) its map is the initial regexp map,
3) its prototype is a receiver,
4) and its prototype's map is the initial prototype's initial map.

We can now be smarter in @@replace and @@split since checking maps
(unlike the previous check of RegExp.prototype.exec) is not observable,
so we can perform fast-path checks at a time of our choosing.

418b239f0b [wasm] Use a Managed<WasmModule> to hold metadata about modules.
This CL refactors the handling of metadata associated with WebAssembly
modules to reduce the duplicate marshalling of data from the C++ world
to the JavaScript world. It does this by wrapping the C++ WasmModule*
object in a Foreign that is rooted from the on-heap WasmCompiledModule
(which is itself just a FixedArray). Upon serialization, the C++ object
is ignored and the original WASM wire bytes are serialized. Upon
deserialization, the C++ object is reconstituted by reparsing the bytes.

This is motivated by increasing complications in implementing the JS
API, in particular WebAssembly.Table, which must perform signature
canonicalization across instances.

Additionally, this CL implements the proper base + offset initialization
behavior for tables.

e902b69d88 [wasm] Stack inspection support for asm.js frames
This CL fixes the debugger interface to provide correct (high-level)
information for asm.js frames.
It moves the computation of the source position from the FrameInspector
to the individual StackFrame implementations, such that we can easily
specualize it for certain frame types, and can potentially reuse this
in other locations.

Also, we are finalizing the setup of the wasm module earlier, before
executing the start function. This is required for correct stack traces
during the execution of the start function.

5d9fa102a7 [wasm] Provide better stack traces for asm.js code
For the asm.js to WASM pipeline, the current stack traces only show
low-level WASM information.
This CL maps this back to asm.js source positions.
It does so by attaching the asm.js source Script to the compiled WASM
module, and emitting a delta-encoded table which maps from WASM byte
offsets to positions within that Script. As asm.js code does not throw
exceptions, we only store a mapping for call instructions.

The new AsmJsWasmStackFrame implementation inherits from
WasmStackFrame, but contains the logic to provide the source script and
the position inside of it.
What is still missing is the JSFunction object returned by
CallSite.getFunction(). We currently return null.

b75a0c4a55 [wasm] Fix wasm instantiation flakes
The spurious failures were caused by the compiled module
template and its corresponding owning object getting out of
sync due to memory allocations (which may trigger GC)
between the points each were fetched.

Specifically, the {original} was first obtained; then a GC
may happen when cloning the {code_table}. At this point,
the {original}'s owner may have been collected, getting us
down the path of not cloning. When time comes to patch up
globals, we incorrectly try to patch them assuming the
global start is at 0 (nullptr), which in fact it isn't.

This change roots early, in a GC-free area, both objects.
Additionally, it avoids publishing to the instances chain
the new instance until the very end. This way:
- the objects used to create the new instance offer a
consistent view
- the instances chain does not see the object we try to
form. If something fails, we can safely retry.
- since the owner is rooted, the state of the front of the
instances chain stays unchanged - with the same compiled
module we started from. So the early belief that we needed
to clone is not invalidated by any interspersed GC.

This situation suffers from a sub-optimality discussed in
the design document, in that, in a memory constrained
system, the following snippet may surprisingly fail:

var m = new WebAssembly.Module(...);
var i1 = new WebAssembly.Instance(m);
i1 = null;
var i2 = new WebAssembly.Instance(m); //may fail.

This will be addressed subsequently.

This CL fixes more complicated declarations (which are not just one
identifier). For this, PreParser needs to accumulate identifiers used
in expressions.

In addition, this CL manifests FLAG_lazy_inner_functions in tests, so that
we get clusterfuzz coverage for it.

There were once plans to generate cross-context code with TurboFan,
however that doesn't fit into the model anymore, and so all of this

1f5dc90a90 [turbofan] Osr value typing + dynamic type checks on entry.
This introduces a new OsrGuard node that is inserted during graph building
to guard the inferred type of the OSR value.

The type of the OSR value is inferred by running the typer before OSR
deconstruction, and then taking the type from the phi that takes the
OSR value. After the deconstruction, we throw the types away.

At the moment we only support the SignedSmall OSR type and we always
pick the tagged representation. Later, we might want to support more
types (such as Number) and pick better representations (int32/float64).

This CL also removes the OSR deconstruction tests because they build
unrealistic graph (no effect chain, no loop termination). I considered
adding the effect chains to the tests, but this would make the tests
even more brittle.

c938f0df22 [wasm] explicitly mark off unlinked wasm module instances
This fixes a gc stress bug. We cannot rely on an ordering of
clearing of the weak cells, so we explicitly reset the weak
link to the owning instance, when finalizing a compiled
module. In turn, this serves as a reliable signal when GCs
happen while instantiating, allowing us to correctly link the
new instance.

3c39bac440 Don't skip hole checks inside patterns in parameter lists
Previously, b6e9f625c1 fixed self-assignment
in parameters to throw. But it failed to deal with the case of
destructuring with defaults. This patch extends that previous approach
to always treat the end of a parameter as its initializer position,
whether it has an initializer or not.

This is the minimal change to make it easy to merge; a follow-up
will rename the field of Parameter from "initializer_end_position"
to "end_position".

4ad3579119 [ignition] Fix building lookup graph when search depth is 0
In some (rare) cases, the context depth passed to a dynamic variable lookup can
be zero. In these cases, the fast path for the lookup (i.e. load from context or
global) can always be taken, as there is no need to search the current context.

However, with no slow path checks, the bytecode graph builder had a null
environment for the slow path, causing segfaults when this graph was built.

This patch adds a null check for the slow path environment, and skips building
the slow path if the environment is null.

9feab2d208 Mark param as used when we force context allocation due to implement access through arguments
Currently the parameter is first parsed as a reference, and then translated into a parameter. The reference stays around though, and gets resolved to the parameter. That automatically creates a use. Now that I drop all unresolved references when we abort preparsing, that also drops the unresolved reference.

Instead, mark the variable as used when its marked as forced context allocation. That's what happens in almost all other cases.

This raises the question: does it really make sense to parse parameters this ways? It seems pretty generic, but neither fast nor memory-efficient ... Did I misunderstand something?

Just land if you think the CL looks good as is.

537c855882 [ignition] BytecodeGraphBuilder: Merge correct environment in try block
Making new nodes inside of exception-handled blocks fiddles around with the
current environment to merge the exception paths. In particular, the current
environment pointer is mutated. This patch ensures that when we merge the fast
and slow paths of the LdaContextLookup, we actually merge the correct
environment and do not accidentally merge the exceptional environment.

f4dfb6fbe1 [modules] Properly initialize declared variables.
Before evaluating a module, all variables declared at the top-level
in _any_ of the modules in the dependency graph must be initialized.
This is observable because a module A can access a variable imported
from module B (e.g. a function) at a point when module B's body hasn't
been evaluated yet.

We achieve this by implementing modules internally as generators with
two states (not initialized, initialized).

15a449b141 [typedarray] Properly initialize JSTypedArray::length with Smi.
Even after https://codereview.chromium.org/2371963002 we still did not
always store a Smi into the JSTypedArray::length field, the runtime

it got from the JavaScript code, which is highly dependent on internal
decisions of the ICs and the representation selection in the optimizing
compilers, so that's pretty fragile.
