9ceaf21272 [base] Introduce RoundUpToPowerOfTwo64
And fix RoundUpToPowerOfTwo32 to return 1 for the input 0.
0 is no power of two.
Beside being the correct value, this also avoids a special case in the
(new) fast path using the number of leading zeros.

e2accb425c [asm.js] Fix numeric literal bounds checking.
This fixes the bounds checking of "unsigned" numeric literals (those
that do not contains dots) by the parser. In particular this fixes a
bogus truncation to 32-bit in the scanner. It also makes the scanner
more robust by limiting the range of those numeric literals, hence
completely avoiding rounding loss or truncation errors.

9deed4095d [wasm] [cleanup] Always use macros for memory operations
The only users of the LoadStoreOpcodeOf function were a number of
macros in wasm-macro-gen.h, and three test functions using it directly.
This CL refactors those functions to also use the macros.
In one case, this requires storing the value in a local variable first.

e8df147f2b [wasm] [cleanup] Move LocalDeclEncoder to own compilation unit
wasm-macro-gen.h is mainly used from tests, but LocalDeclEncoder is
also used from various other places.
This CL moves the LocalDeclEncoder to an own compilation unit. We want
to later move wasm-macro-gen.h to the tests folder.
It also refactors the LocalDeclEncoder to reuse the
LEBHelper::write_u32v and LEBHelper::sizeof_u32v methods instead of
reimplementing it.

92bf832799 [wasm] [interpreter] Precompute side table for breaks
Instead of dynamically tracking the block nesting, precompute the
information statically.
The interpreter was already using a side table to store the pc diff for
each break, conditional break and others. The information needed to
adjust the stack was tracked dynamically, however. This CL also
precomputes this information, as it is statically known.
Instead of just storing the pc diff in the side table, we now store the
pc diff, the stack height diff and the arity of the target block.

Local measurements show speedups of 5-6% on average, sometimes >10%.

83c058a98c Avoid signed/unsigned warning in VC++ 2017 builds
VC++ 2017's STL doesn't suppress warnings as aggressively as prior
versions did. This causes warnings on code which mixes signed and
unsigned types. In this case a deque of unsigned integers was being
queried to see how many signed integers it contains. This could be
fixed by passing in unsigned 0, 1, and 2 to std::count but changing
the deque from unsigned to int is simpler.

9b51273278 Remove "calls eval" bit from ParseInfo and PreParseData
There's no reason to keep track, for a preparsed function itself,
whether that function calls eval. All that matters is that the ancestor
scopes are marked as having an inner scope which calls eval. The function
will have its "calls eval" bit persisted if/when it's fully parsed.

The only "behavioral" change in this patch is the removal of a DCHECK.

5930e0ab39 [asm.js] Use token position instead of stream position.
This switches the parser to use token positions (i.e. {Position})
instead of stream positions (i.e. {GetPosition}) everywhere. Access to
the latter is being removed as it is unsupported when the scanner is in
rewind state anyways. This prevents "skipping" a token when seeking.

385734bf11 [turbofan] Let ChangeFloat64ToTagged canonicalize to Smi if possible.
When the incoming value to ChangeFloat64ToTagged is in Smi range, we
represent it as Smi instead of a HeapNumber. This addresses a range of
problems where TurboFan unnecessarily deoptimizes because an operation
learned Smi feedback in Ignition, but was then confronted with a tagged
HeapNumber in TurboFan, just because the value was also represented as
unboxed double somewhere in the meantime.

57afd0bb07 Reland: [ignition] Add call bytecodes for undefined receiver
Adds a collection of call bytecodes which have an implicit undefined
receiver argument, for cases such as global calls where we know that the
receiver has to be undefined. This way we can skip an LdaUndefined,
decrease bytecode register pressure, and set a more accurate
ConvertReceiverMode on the interpreter and TurboFan call.

As a side effect, the "normal" Call bytecode now becomes a rare case
(only with calls and super property calls), so we get rid of its 0-2
argument special cases and modify CallProperty[N] to use the
NotNullOrUndefined ConvertReceiverMode.

- Refactor Decoder::toResult for perfect forwarding.
- Remove output operators (operator<<) for Result; it was only used in

The operator was problematic since it assumed the existence of an

- Remove ModuleError and FunctionError, introduce general static

e97b29a4c5 [turbofan] Add type to the allocation operator.
This gives us more precise type information, so we can avoid some type
guards to refine the type information back.

The motivation for this is to help escape analysis by not introducing
redundant type guards (which escape analysis cannot handle yet even
though it could and should do).

Motivating example:

In the example below, the out-of-object property array for properties
fld5 and fld6 gets type Any when it is created by "o.fld5 = 5" (for
object literals, we store 4 properties in-objeca, the rest goes out
of object).

When we run load elimination for the load the out-of-object property
array (to store 6 into o.fld6), load elimination inserts TypeGuard to
enforce the Type::Internal() type. This makes escape analysis bail out
on this object, and we do not eliminate the object creation.

function f() {
  var o = {};
  o.fld1 = 1;
  o.fld2 = 2;
  o.fld3 = 3;
  o.fld4 = 4;
  o.fld5 = 5;
  o.fld6 = 6;
}

eeaceccbc6 [wasm] [decoder] Templatize decode function for unchecked decoding
In the C++ wasm interpreter, we decode LEB encoded immediates each time
we execute the respective instruction. The whole instruction sequence
was validated before, thus we know that all integers are valid.
This CL refactors several Decoder methods to allow for either checked
or unchecked decoding. In the checked case, an error is set if a check
fails, in the unchecked case, a DCHECK will fail.

This improves performance of the interpreter by 20.5%.

02b4d0e675 [wasm] [decoder] Merge checked_read_leb and consume_leb
Both methods decoded a LEB128 encoded integer, but only consume_leb

This CL implements consume_leb by using checked_read_leb.

It also refactors a few things:
1) It removes error_pt, which was only avaible in checked_read_leb.
2) It renames the error method to errorf, since it receives a format
string. This also avoids a name clash.
3) It implements sign extension directly in checked_read_leb instead of
   doing this in the caller.

bf463c4dc0 [async-iteration] implement AsyncGenerator
- Introduce new struct AsyncGeneratorRequest, which holds
information pertinent to resuming execution of an
AsyncGenerator, such as the Promise associated with the async
generator request. It is intended to be used as a singly
linked list, and holds a pointer to the next item in te queue.

- Introduce JSAsyncGeneratorObject (subclass of
JSGeneratorObject), which includes several new internal fields
(`queue` which contains a singly linked list of
  AsyncGeneratorRequest objects, and `await_input` which
contains the sent value from an Await expression (This is
necessary to prevent function.sent (used by yield*) from
having the sent value observably overwritten during
  execution).

- Modify SuspendGenerator to accept a set of Flags, which
indicate whether the suspend is for a Yield or Await, and
whether it takes place on an async generator or ES6
  generator.

- Introduce interpreter intrinsics and TF intrinsic lowering for
accessing the await input of an async generator

- Modify the JSGeneratorStore operator to understand whether or

b90a20b2c7 Add RecyclingZoneAllocator for ZoneDeque.
A std::deque interacts badly with zone memory in that it allocates chunks
of memory for the back of the queue and frees memory from the front of the
queue. As such we never reuse zone memory for the queue. Implement a very
simple RecyclingZoneAllocator which keeps a single block of memory from
deallocation that can be reused on allocation.

Also clean up zone-allocator a bit and make it use proper Chromium coding
style.

99743ad460 [wasm] Transferrable modules
We want to restrict structured cloning in Chrome to:
- postMessage senders and receivers that are co-located
in the same process
- indexedDB (just https).

For context, on the Chrome side, we will achieve the postMessage part
by using a mechanism similar to transferrables: the
SerializedScriptValue will have a list of wasm modules, separate from
the serialized data stream; and this list won't be copied cross
process boundaries. The IDB part is achieved by explicitly opting in
reading/writing to the serialization stream. To block attack vectors
in IPC cases, the default for deserialization will be to expect data
in the wasm transfers list.

This change is the V8 side necessary to enabling this design. We
introduce TransferrableModule, an opaque datatype exposed to the
embedder. Internally, TransferrableModules are just serialized data,
because we don't have a better mechanism, at the moment, for
de-contextualizing/re-contextualizing wasm modules (wrt Isolate and
Context).

The chrome defaults will be implemented in the
serialization/deserialization delegates on that side. For the v8 side
of things, in the absence of a serialization delegate, the V8
serializer will write to serialization stream. In the absence of a
deserialization delegate, the deserializer won't work. This asymmetry
is intentional - it communicates to the embedder the need to make a
policy decision, otherwise wasm serialization/deserialization won't
work "out of the box".

947a043766 Collect type profile for DevTools
Collect type information for JavaScript variables and display it
in Chrome DevTools.
Design Doc: https://docs.google.com/a/google.com/document/d/1O1uepXZXBI6IwiawTrYC3ohhiNgzkyTdjn3R8ysbYgk/edit?usp=sharing

When debugging JavaScript, it’s helpful to know the type of
a variable, parameter, and return values. JavaScript is
dynamically typed, and for complex
source code it’s often hard to infer types. With type profiling, we
can provide type information to JavaScript developers.

This CL is a proof of concept. It collects type profile for
assignments and simply prints the types to stdout.

The output looks something like this:

#my_var1
  #Object
  #number
  #string
  #number
  #undefined
  #string
  #Object
  #Object

We use an extra slot in the feedback vector of assignments to
carry the list of types for that assignment. The extra slot is
only added when the flag --type-profile is given.

Missing work:
* Collect data for parameters and return values (currently only assignments).
* Remove duplicates from the list of collected types and use a common base class.
* Add line numbers or source position instead of the variable name.

For now, has a test that compares the stdout of --type-profile in test/message. We
will remove this test when --type-profile is fully integrated in
the debugger protocol. Adding
the test in test/inspector does not work, because the inspector
test itself consists of JavaScript code that would convolute the
output and be non-deterministic under stress.

5c32287390 Collect type profile for DevTools
Collect type information for JavaScript variables and display it
in Chrome DevTools.
Design Doc: https://docs.google.com/a/google.com/document/d/1O1uepXZXBI6IwiawTrYC3ohhiNgzkyTdjn3R8ysbYgk/edit?usp=sharing

When debugging JavaScript, it’s helpful to know the type of
a variable, parameter, and return values. JavaScript is
dynamically typed, and for complex
source code it’s often hard to infer types. With type profiling, we
can provide type information to JavaScript developers.

This CL is a proof of concept. It collects type profile for
assignments and simply prints the types to stdout.

The output looks something like this:

#my_var1
  #Object
  #number
  #string
  #number
  #undefined
  #string
  #Object
  #Object

We use an extra slot in the feedback vector of assignments to
carry the list of types for that assignment. The extra slot is
only added when the flag --type-profile is given.

Missing work:
* Collect data for parameters and return values (currently only assignments).
* Remove duplicates from the list of collected types and use a common base class.
* Add line numbers or source position instead of the variable name.

Instead, we use the constructor_or_backpointer (or null) field, and
rename it to constructor_or_fti_or_backpointer so nobody is confused.

Note that technically, we still have JSFunctions without contexts, as
they're temporarily created in the deoptimizer.

This makes it no longer necessary to ensure that V8 and Blink have non-colliding

96eda1f7d1 Fix receiver checks for v8::Function on a remote context receiver.
v8 allows the embedder to specify a global template to use when
creating a new context. However, v8 does not use the supplied
template directly when creating the global proxy: it creates a
unique template for each global proxy. However, this is problematic
for remote contexts: functions cannot use strict receiver checks
with the remote context, as the global template will never match
the global proxy.

To fix this, remote contexts now also include a remote global
object in the prototype chain that is instantiated with the global
template. This mirrors the way the global proxy is configured for a
full v8 context, and allows strict receiver checks to work.

bd21c2bd04 [ignition] Optimize reloading of registers before Dispatch
Before this patch, the registers needed for bytecode dispatch in interpreter
handlers were inconsistently stored in the interpreter frame and/or kept in
values that remained live across calls.

After this patch, these registers are explicitly reloaded after calls, making it
possible to elide the spills of those registers before the call in many cases.

Some highlights from the CL:

* Added methods to the CSA and InterpreterAssembler to efficiently store and
load Smis values and Smi interpreter registers on x64 without explicit
  tagging/untagging.

* Created Variables for all of the interpreter-internal values that need to be
reloaded before bytecode dispatch at the end of an interpreter handler.

* The bytecode offset can be written out early in a handler by marking it
has having a call along it's critical path. By moving this early in a
handler, it becomes possible to use memory operands for pushes used to
  marshall parameters when making calls.

The serializer won't ever write a more complex object. Not validating this
allows other things to be used as keys, and converted to string when the

OOM by giving an object a key which is a very large sparse array (whose string
representation is very large).

This case is now rejected by the deserializer.

In order to allow parallel compilation of eager inner functions, we need to
seperate the zone used for parsing (which will be shared between all the

CompilationInfo to require a zone (which can be different from the zone in
ParseInfo). We then seal the ParseInfo zone after parsing and analysis is done
to prevent any further allocation in that zone, so that it can be shared

http://www.ecma-international.org/ecma-262/7.0/#sec-validateandapplypropertydescriptor
says that [[DefineProperty]] should return false if the property is
already defined and it's unconfigurable (exactly speaking, the condition
in the spec is more complicated, but roughly speaking, it's when the
property is unconfigurable).

e425079b1d [iwyu] Remove include debug.h -> arguments.h
arguments.h is one of the headers including objects-inl.h. Files needing
objects-inl.h used to innocently pull in debug.h, so that needs to be fixed now
too.

cd9724d4b4 [turbofan] Utilize the fact that empty string is canonicalized.
Since the empty string is canonical HeapObject now, we can use
this fact to optimize

  - strict equality comparisons with the empty string to a
    simple ReferenceEqual operation, and
  - optimize ToBoolean to avoid instance type checks completely.

Drive-by-fix: Allow InternalizedString for Type::HeapConstant
in the type system. This is safe, since InternalizedStrings
can be compared to other heap constants by reference (except
for non-InternalizedStrings, which are excluded from the
HeapConstant type).

ed6e28d2ad [arm64][turbofan] Fix add+shr for big shift values.
Arm64 compiles "x +_64 (y >> shift)" into a single instruction if
"shift" is a constant. The code generator expects that "shift" is a
32 bit constant. however, TurboFan can also pass in a 64 bit constant,
which caused a crash in the code generator.

With this CL we cast the constant of TurboFan to an int in the
instruction selector and thereby satisfy the assumption of the code
generator. This should be correct since the code generator anyways cast
the "shift" to an int5 or int6 eventually.
