In this test we both search and insert a transition in the main thread,
while the background thread searches.

ebcc39d59a [tests] Fix parameter indices in test-code-stub-assembler
The cctests were wrong, since they access the first parameter using `Parameter(0)`. They should instead use `Parameter(1)`, since the index 0 is the receiver, and the receiver is set to be always the undefined object in `FunctionTester::Call`.

The reason it used to work is that the tests would set up an access to the stack with the wrong number of parameters, accessing only a stack suffix.

ca1e6573e4 [turbofan] Fast API calls support for default fallback
This change adds a has_error parameter on the stack
which allows the fast callback to report an error. In case
this parameter is set to non-zero, the generated code calls
the slow (default) callback, which can throw the exception.

7c10560da2 [wasm-simd][arm64][arm] Fix v128.const
There is a sign-extension bug happening when packing 2 32-bit ints into
a 64-bit int. We are OR-ing int32_t with a uint64_t, so an integral
conversion converts int32_t to uint64_t, which is a sign extension, and
this gives unexpected results for a negative value:

    0x80000000 | uint64_t{0} -> 0xffffffff80000000

What we want is 0x0000000080000000.

Created a helper function to do this work of combining two uint32_t
into one uint64_t. The use of this function will also ensure that
if callers passed a int32_t, it would first be converted to a
uint32_t, and will not have this sign extension bug.

Sneaked a small regression test into the existing v128.const cctest,
and also cleanup the loop to reset `expected` array to 0.

2b873b94e9 [compiler] Don't serialize BytecodeArrayData's source_positions_
This CL adds functionality to read the source positions directly
from the JS heap rather than from serialized data.

In order to do this, we create a PersistentHandles container in the
OptimizedCompilationInfo which gets passed onto the JSHeapBroker. This
allows us to create the handles in the main thread and pass them safely
to the background thread.

In order to read safely from the background thread, we need a LocalHeap
which blocks the GC from running and potentially moving the handles.
This LocalHeap is created only when the JSHeapBroker has finalized
serializing and destroyed when retiring it.

Additionally it refactors field offset computation and moves them
to MemoryChunkLayout.

Having the bitmap in the memory chunk simplifies sharing of RO pages
and also solves the malloc fragmentation issues.

9ff7156f87 [test] Fix UAF in cctest/test-memory-measurement/RandomizedTimeout
The test creates a mock platform. The bug was that the lifetime of the
mock platform was shoter than the lifetime of the isolate. Even though
the mock platform restores the old platfrom, a background thread may
still have a pointer to the mock platform leading to UAF.

01e59c4bd9 [wasm-gc] Refactoring in preparation of generalizing WasmInitExpr
Motivation: With rtt.sub now allowed in constant expressions, we have
to generalize WasmInitExpr to be able to handle expressions with
operands. This CL prepares the ground for this change and adds no
functionality.

Changes:
- ValueType::heap_representation and HeapType::representation now
  return HeapType::Representation.
- Add ValueType::is_rtt().
- WasmInitExpr:
  - Make kind private. Rename val -> operator, make it private. Add
    accessors.
  - Rename kGlobalIndex -> kGlobalGet.
  - Squash global_index and function_index into index.
  - Add heap_type Immediate. Use it for RefNullConst. TypeOf in
module-decoder.cc can now fully determine the type of a
    WasmInitExpr.
  - Add class constructors/static method constructors for each Operator
    kind.
  - Delete copy constructor. WasmInitExpr will use std::unique_ptr for
    its operands.
- consume_init_expr now uses a stack.
- A few minor improvements.

e33e84815d [nci] Don't expose feedback to compiler phases in NCI mode
Native context independent code generation should, at the moment, not
use any collected feedback.

We implement this by returning InsufficientFeedback from the heap
broker's ReadFeedbackForX methods if currently compiling nci code.
Thus all feedback.IsInsufficient() calls inside the compiler will
return true (disabling feedback-based optimizations).
FeedbackSource::IsValid() (used in generic lowering) can still return
true.

This moves marking write barrier related functions from Heap and

Additionally, a new WriteBarrier class is added at the heap API level

Future CLs will move slots recording in MarkingBarrier and apply
the same refactoring to the generational barrier. An instance of
MarkingBarrier will be added to each LocalHeap and enable it to
emit a write barrier from a background thread.

5df74c351f [wasm] Properly implement parsing of s33 values
Motivation:
We used to approximate s33/i33 value parsing by first checking for
specific negative codes, and then parsing an u32 value if that failed.
This is not correct in all cases.

Changes:
- Implement i33 parsing in Decoder.
- Factor out parsing of heap types into read_heap_type.
- Introduce HeapType::kBottom.
- Introduce helper functions in WasmFeatures and value_type_reader.
- Remove macros from the parsing of value types.
- HeapType::code now returns an i32 for compatibility with the i33
  requirement.
- Introduce HeapType::Repr.
- Renamings: HeapType::type() -> representation(),
             ValueType::heap() -> heap_representation()

c92e74fa68 [wasm-simd][liftoff][arm64] Check offset fits in str immediate
When filling stack slots, the start offset can be too large to fit into
the immediate of a str instruction (which is used to handle remainders
after stp). For example, a function with 32 i64 params will require 256
bytes reserved for the params, so the offset starts at 256 + 16
(instance) = 272. This does not fit into a int9, so we hit an
UNREACHABLE case when emitting str.

The fix here checks that start can fit in an unscaled immediate, and if
it doesn't fallback to the general case. We could use the Str
from macro-asesmbler, but that uses another instruction, so we are not
saving anything.

A check for IsImmLSUnscaled(-start-12) is sufficient because 12 is the
largest possible value for remainder. So if -start-12 fits, everything
else will fit.

abe8edaf7f Reland: [wasm-gc] Implement rtt.sub
Relanding without changes, revert reason was fixed by:

Originally reviewed at:
https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/2260566

Original description:
RTTs are internally represented as Maps. To store supertype information,
this patch introduces a WasmTypeInfo object, which is installed on Wasm
objects' Maps and points at both the off-heap type information and the
parent RTT.
In this patch, rtt.sub always creates a fresh RTT. The canonicalization
that the proposal requires will be implemented later.

852f43cd70 [wasm] Make opcode properties constexpr
This allows the compiler to eliminate more unneeded branches. Since all
functions just do a lookup in a static table (either directly, or via
compiling a switch to such a lookup), they are also good candidates for
inlining, which is made possible by this change.

One DCHECK is removed instead of pulling in the inl header, which would
require more refactoring since the check is in a non-inl header.

a6015b4754 [heap] Fix allocated_object_size for RO_SPACE
After https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/v8/v8/+/2250254,
allocated_object_size in RO_SPACE is incorrect. This changes it to use
the accounting_stats_ value. This also fixes the Capacity() which was
previously uninitialized. Both are tested in new ReadOnlySpace allocation
tests in test-spaces.cc.

Couple of cleanups:
* area_size_ becomes const since its value is fixed after construction.
* Deletes incorrect comment in base-space.h

1052dfb387 [torque] generate Cast<> macros from Torque-defined classes
This change enables automatic generation of Cast<> operators for
classes that are defined in Torque.

* Cast<> macros are generated for all classes that are defined in
Torque code that are neither shapes nor marked with a new
  @doNotGenerateCast annotation.

* Implicitly generated Cast macros simply call through to an
  internally-defined "DownCastForTorqueClass" macro that implements
the cast using one of three strategies for efficiency. If the class
has subclasses (i.e. a range of instance types including subtypes),
the DownCastForTorqueClass checks for inclusion in the instance type
range. If the class has a single instance type (i.e. no subclasses),
then either 1) a map check is used if the class has a globally-
defined map constant or 2) an equality check for the instance type
  is used.

* Added new intrinsics to introspect class information, e.g. fetching
instance type ranges for a class, accessing the globally-defined map
  for a class.

* Removed a whole pile of existing explicit Cast<> operators that are
no longer needed because of the implicitly generated Cast<> macros.

* Added tests for the new Cast<> implementations.

52f6529634 [wasm-gc] Change ValueType representation to account for new types
Motivation:
Changes to the typed function references and gc proposals solidified
the notion of heap type, clarified nullable vs. non-nullable reference
types, and introduced rtts, which contain an integer depth field in
addition to a heap type. This required us to overhaul our ValueType
representation, which results in extensive changes.

To keep this CL "small", we do not try to implement the binary encoding
as described in the proposals, but rather devise a simpler one of our
own (see below). Also, we do not try to implement additional
functionality for the new types.

Changes:
- Introduce HeapType. Move heap types from ValueType to HeapType.
- Introduce Nullability for reference types.
- Rework ValueType helper methods.
- Introduce rtts in ValueType with an integer depth field. Include depth
  in the ValueType encoding.
- Make the constructor of ValueType private, instead expose static
functions which explicitly state what they create.
- Change every switch statement on ValueType::Kind. Sometimes, we need
  nested switches.
- Introduce temporary constants in ValueTypeCode for nullable types,
  use them for decoding.
- In WasmGlobalObject, split 'flags' into 'raw_type' and 'is_mutable'.
- Change IsSubtypeOfRef to IsSubtypeOfHeap and implement changes in
  subtyping.
- kWasmFuncRef initializers are now non-nullable. Initializers are
only required to be subtypes of the declared global type.
- Change tests and fuzzers as needed.

d8cd725f7b [nci] Implement missing generic lowering bits
... for nci code, in which several phases of the compiler are not
active:

LowerJSCreateCatchContext
LowerJSCreateEmptyLiteralObject
LowerJSCreateIterResultObject
LowerJSCreateWithContext
LowerJSGetIterator

With this change, the nci variant passes the test suite. Tests
relying on turbofan-specific behavior (e.g. deopts) are skipped.

The C++ code uses the A instruction key for return address signing,

Using the B key for JS means that it's not possible to use an A key
signing gadget to replace a return address signed with the B key and
vice-versa. This should offer a degree of separation from the C++ side.

8ee54c92c7 [wasm] Do not log code of functions whose module is not fully loaded
This is a reland of change Idb1061cafcba7a2a654a207402dca520f79a3bbe.
The access to wire_bytes has been protected by using atomic operations.

Under some circumstances, Wasm is trying to log code for which the
wire bytes are not fully loaded yet. This can happen during streaming
compilation when a few functions are already fully compiled but the
engine is still streaming the remaining functions.

If the profiler now kicks in, it will attempt to log these freshly
compiled functions. As these functions will not be executed before
the module is fully compiled, we can simply defer the logging in this
case.

Prior to this change, uc16 was typedef'd to (unsigned) uint16_t while
uc32 was typedef'd to (signed) int32_t.

For consistency, and to avoid unexpected behavior around

As part of this change, old-style error passing (return -1, check for

d8c9ae5295 [compiler] Fix double error reporting for parser errors
Remove error reporting from parsing::Parse*, since in most cases we
didn't actually want them (clear errors afterward), and there was an
issue where Compiler::Compile would try to report errors already
reported in ParseAny, which ended up triggering unreachable code.

As a drive-by, move some one-off parse exception handling in
test-parsing into a CHECKED_PARSE_PROGRAM macro which replaces all the
"necessarily positive" calls to parsing::ParseProgram.

6e903d93e6 [wasm] Instantiate interpreter for testing directly
Avoid going through the {WasmDebugInfo}, which existed for debugging in

This will unblock the removal of the whole {WasmDebugInfo}, and finally
moving the interpreter to the test directory.

7637ed59c9 [wasm][debug] Fully tier up on Debugger.disable
When the last debugger is disabled, we tier up the module to TurboFan.
Doing this in the background creates problems with profiling, where the
debugger is disabled before starting to profile, in order to guarantee
profiling of top-tier code.

Hence this CL changes the logic such that we only return from the
{TierUpAllModulesPerIsolate} methods once tier up is complete. Since
the DevTools frontend disables all debuggers before starting a profile,
this will ensure that all new calls execute TurboFan code.
Because of this change, the {TriggerRecompilation} method is renamed to
{RecompileForTiering}.

The test cases stay unchanged (do a busy wait until tier up is done),
because in the multi-isolates tests it is not guaranteed that tier up is
complete after disabling a single debugger.

f78d69fa5d Revert "[heap] Make ReadOnlySpace use bump pointer allocation"
This reverts commit 81c34968a7 and also
490f3580a3 which depends on the former.

Original change's description:

47e501e169 [wasm][interpreter] Remove threads support
The wasm interpreter was always single-threaded, and there are no plans
to change this. Still, there was a concept of threads, but with the
hard-coded constraint that there is always exactly one of them.

In order to clean up the code, and as a preparation to remove more
unneeded functionality before moving the interpreter over to the test
directory, this CL removes the concept of threads and merges the
{ThreadImpl} class into {WasmInterpreterInternals}.

Drive-by: Remove the dead {GetFrameCount} method.
