michael_dawson	45e4a78911	Contribution of PowerPC port (continuation of 422063005) - uplevel Contribution of PowerPC port (continuation of 422063005, 817143002,866843003, and 901083004). This patch updates the ppc directories to make them current with changes in common code as of today. We had to exclude the test test-serialize/SerializeInternalReference until we agree on the right way to add those changes for PPC as outlined in the description in the google doc provided earlier. We also had to exclude a couple of other tests due to new failures seen since the last uplevel. We excluded as opposed to waiting until we could investigate to maximize the chance of getting PPC compiling in the google repos before new breaking changes are made. adamk	aeb3a71740	Begin modernization of --harmony-modules The approach taken in this CL is to incrementally move toward the currently-specced version of modules in ES6. The biggest change in this patch is separating the parsing of modules from the parsing of scripts, getting rid of the 'module' keyword and thus disallowing modules-in-scripts as well as modules-in-modules. The syntax supported by import/export declarations has not yet been significantly changed, with the major exception being that import declarations require a string as the 'from' part. Most of the existing tests have been disabled, with a first new test added in cctest/test-parsing. Since the deopt patch address needs to be available during GC to resolve safepoints, we need to move it to the code object (instead of the deoptimization input data) - accessing a separate fixed array is not safe during GC. This CL adds a deoptimization_pc field to each safepoint. The fields points to the deoptimization block. The CL also fixes wrong register allocator constraints for frame states on calls. These should always live on the stack because registers are not preserved during a call. Code generation would fail when assembling a branch to a label that is bound outside the immediate range of the instruction. A64 is sensitive to this, as the various branching instructions have different ranges, going down to +-32KB for TBZ/TBNZ. The MacroAssembler is augmented to handle branches to targets that may exceed the immediate range of instructions. When branching backward to a label exceeding the instruction range, the MacroAssembler can simply tweak the generated code to use an unconditional branch with a longer range. For example instead of B(cond, &label); the MacroAssembler can generate: b(InvertCondition(cond), &done); b(&label); bind(&done); Since the target is not known when the branch is emitted, forward branches uses a different mechanism. The MacroAssembler keeps track of forward branches to unbound labels. When the code generation approaches the end of the range of a branch, a veneer is generated for the branch. Throwing under FLAG_debug_code confuses the rest of our infrastructure which expects a safe point at the site of call into the runtime for throw. We were doing that to make a clusterfuzz test happy, but the better solution is to assert/abort under debug_code, and prevent clusterfuzz from fuzzing on internal APIs that crash on incorrect values. We'll need to alter the fuzzer to turn off fuzzing for: string-natives.js lithium/SeqStringSetChar.js regress/regress-seqstrsetchar-ex3.js regress/regress-seqstrsetchar-ex1.js regress/regress-crbug-320922.js So as to prevent the fuzzer from running %_OneByteSeqStringSetChar() and %_TwoByteSeqStringSetChar(). Our generic KeyedStoreIC doesn't handle the case when a callback is set on array elements in the prototype chain of the object, nor do we recognize that we need to avoid the monomorphic case if these callbacks exist. This CL addresses the issue by looking for dictionary elements in the prototype chain on IC misses and crankshaft element store instructions. When found, the generic IC is used. The generic IC is changed to go to the runtime in this case too. In general, keyed loads are immune from this problem because they won't return the hole: discovery of the hole goes to the runtime where the callback will be found in the prototype chain. Double array loads in crankshaft can return the hole but only if the prototype chain is unaltered (we will catch such alterations). Includes the following patch as well (already reviewed by bmeurer): Performance regression found in test regress-2185-2.js. The problem was that the bailout method for TransitionAndStoreStub was not performing the appropriate transition. Instead it relies on no GC happening between the suspend and the return from the generator. However this was not the case: boxing the result object could cause GC, which would try to traverse the stack but would misinterpret words from unwound try handlers as heap objects. This CL changes to allocate the result objects before the suspend. It also removes the generators-iteration skip introduced in r15065. In the traditional MIPS naming scheme, "mips" is used for big-endian mips and "mipsel" is used for little-endian mips. In V8 the "mips" build is little-endian, so the "mips" target is renamed to "mipsel" to be compliant with the traditional MIPS naming scheme. This change is also required for supporting the Chromium project on MIPS. sgjesse@chromium.org	44b7c59eb5	Extend the maximum size map space On 32-bit the maps are now aligned on a 32-byte boundary in order to encode more maps during compacting GC. The actual size of a map on 32-bit is 28 bytes making this change waste 4 bytes per map. On 64-bit the encoding for compacting GC is now using more than 32-bits and the maps here are still pointer size aligned. The actual size of a map on 64-bit is 48 bytes and this change does not intruduce any waste. My choice of 16 bits for kMapPageIndexBits for 64-bit should give the same maximum number of pages (8K) for map space. As maps on 64-bit are larger than on 32-bit the total number of maps on 64-bit will be smaller than on 32-bit. We could consider raising this to 17 or 18. I moved the kPageSizeBits to globals.h as the calculation of the encoding really depended on this. There are still an #ifdef/#endif in objects.h and this constant could be moved to globaks.h as well, but I kept it together with the related constants. All the tests run in debug mode with additional options --gc-global --always-compact as well (except for a few tests on which also fails before this change when run with --gc-global --always-compact). On ARM the normal js function return consist of the following code sequence. mov sp, fp ldmia sp!, {fp, lr} add sp, sp, #4 bx lr to a call to the debug break return entry code using the following code sequence mov lr, pc ldr pc, [pc, #-4] <debug break return entry code entry point address> bktp 0 The values of Assembler::kPatchReturnSequenceLength and Assembler::kPatchReturnSequenceLength are somewhat misleading, but they fit the current use in the debugger. Also Assembler::kPatchReturnSequenceLength is used in the IC code as well (for something which is not related to return sequences at all). I will change that in a separate changelist. For the debugger to work also added recording of the return sequence in the relocation info and handling of source position recording when a function ends with a return statement. Used the constant kInstrSize instead of sizeof(Instr). Passes all debugger tests on both simulator and hardware (only release mode tested on hardware). The generic step-in mechanism floods the function called with break points to ensure a break is hit when entering the function. This generic mechanism was also used for function.apply. The code for function.apply contains a keyed load IC which was patched when stepping into function.apply. However function.apply enteres an internal frame not a JavaScript frame. This caused the logic for returning from the break in function.apply to fail as it forced a jump to the IC on the top JavaScript frame. The top JavaScript frame was the frame for the function calling function.apply not the frame for the apply function. Now returning from the break point in the keyed load IC in the apply code caused a jump to the code for the call IC for the function calling function.apply in the first place. Not a pretty sight. Step-in now handles function.apply as a separate case where the actual JavaScript function called through apply is flodded with breakpoints instead of the function.apply function. The code generator now has two methods void CodeForStatement(Node* node) void CodeForSourcePosition(int pos) The first is used to indicate that code is about to be generated for the given statement and the second is used to indicate that code is about to be generated for the given source position. Added position information for some statements which was missing whem. Updated the code generator for ARM to emit source position the same way as for IA-32. Added an assert to ensure that deferred code stubs will always have a source source position as if it has not it will take whatever source position before which makes no sense. The passing test on ARM has only been tested using the simulator. sgjesse@chromium.org	c0e04e1e86	Fixed unsafe code where a GC could occour after a Handle had been deferenced. instances->set(i, *GetScriptWrapper(script)); GetScriptWrapper can call GC. The failure have only been seen on ARM, where the g++ compiler pulls out the object from the instances handle to a register before calling GetScriptWrapper causing set to be called on an object which may have moved. Marked a test on ARM as no longer flaky, whereas two other fails consistently but that is no longer related to the problem fixed above.
