4d0730084d [wasm][arm64] Fix 16-bit to 32-bit sign extension
This is identical to https://crrev.com/c/3094011, but for 16-bit values.
We introduce another instruction to differentiate between 16->32 bit
sign extensions and 16->64 bit sign extensions.

748ae7cbf4 [wasm][arm64] Fix zero-extention of i32.load8_s
InstructionSelector::ZeroExtendsWord32ToWord64 assumes that a
Load[kRepWord8|kTypeInt32] generates a zero-extended value. This
assumption makes sense, but was not fulfilled by the instruction
selector which emitted an "ldrsb" instruction which sign-extended to the
full 64-bit register.

This CL fixes that by introducing a separate "LdrsbW" instruction which
is selected if we are sign-extending an 8-bit value to 32-bit.

55e6a51f8d Revert "[arm64][wasm] Use NEON S/Usra for Wasm SIMD add(shr(x, imm), y)"
This reverts commit 2261e05333.

Reason for revert: No issues with the CL, but it is taking the
last two available opcodes on arm64 (we use 9 bits to encode it,
so we are limited to 512 opcodes). We need to land a security fix
which includes the addition of two opcodes. Before relanding this,
we need to figure out a strategy to either reduce opcodes, or use
one more bit to encode them.

8581adaee6 Introduce v8_enable_virtual_memory_cage
When this is enabled, v8 reserves a large region of virtual address
space during initialization, at the start of which it will place its 4GB
pointer compression cage. The remainder of the cage is used to store
ArrayBuffer backing stores and WASM memory buffers. This will later
allow referencing these buffers from inside V8 through offsets from the
cage base rather than through raw pointers.

f888f48e4c [api] Add API for off-thread code cache deserialization
To consume a code cache off-thread

  1. The embedder creates a CachedData object wrapping the data blob.
  2. The embedder calls ScriptCompiler::StartConsumingCodeCache with the
     CachedData, and receives a ScriptCompiler::CodeCacheConsumeTask
     which takes ownership of the CachedData.
  3. The embedder calls ScriptCompiler::CodeCacheConsumeTask::Run
     on a different thread.
  4. Once this completes, the embedded passes the completed task as an
     optional argument into Source constructor, and calls Compile as
     before.

This is roughly similar to how streaming compilation works, with the
QoL improvement that Source owns the CodeCacheConsumeTask and therefore
we can reuse the same Compile method and do the off-thread finalization
behind the scenes inside Compile.

On the v8::internal side, ScriptCompiler::CodeCacheConsumeTask wraps a
v8::internal::BackgroundDeserializeTask, which has a Run and a Finish
method. The Run creates a LocalIsolate (again, similar to
BackgroundCompileTask), calls some helpers on CodeSerializer, and stores
the pre-finalization result in a OffThreadDeserializeData structure.
This stores Persistent Handles to the off-thread initialized SFI and
a vector of Scripts needing fixing up, and it owns the PersistentHandles
object which owns those Handles. Finally, the Finish method consumes
this OffThreadDeserializeData structure, fixes up Scripts, moves the
SFI Handle into the caller HandleScope, and that's it.

Since we don't yet have the source at off-thread deserialization time,
the various code cache sanity checks are done without the source hash
when deserializing, and the Finish method re-does them now that the
source is available.

fffcbaea55 [counters] Fix reentrant timers for V8.Execute
This CL fixes a long standing issue where reentering TimedHistograms
scopes would cause spurious measurements. Only the non-nested scopes
yielded correct results.

Due to the changed numbers, the V8.Execute histogram is renamed to
V8.ExecuteMicroSeconds. Note that this histogram is also guarded
behind the --slow-histograms flag due to the additional overhead.

Unlike before, it does no longer include time for external callbacks
and only measures self time. The following example illustrates the
new behaviour:

1. Enter V8:           |--+.......+--| self-time: 4 units (reported)
2. Exit V8 (callback):    |-+...+-|    self-time: 2 units (ignored)
3. Re-enter V8:             |---|      self-time: 3 units (reported)

This would result in 2 histogram entries with 4 time units for the first
V8 slice and 3 units for the nested part. Note that the callback time
itself is ignored.

This CL attempts to clean up how TimedHistograms work:
- Histogram: the base class
- TimedHistograms: used for time-related histograms that are not nested
- NestedTimeHistograms: Extends TimedHistograms and is used for nested
  histograms

This CL changes Histograms to not measure time themselves. Measurements
happen in the *HistogramScopes:
- BaseTimedHistogramScope: Base functionality
- TimedHistogramScope: For non-nested measurements
- NestedTimedHistogramScope: For nested measurements
- PauseNestedTimedHistogramScope: Ignore time during a given scope.
  This is used to pause timers during callbacks.

Additional changes:
- ExternalCallbackScope now contains a PauseNestedTimedHistogramScope
  and always sets VMState<EXTERNAL>

fb9e129964 Remove windows.h from win32-headers.h
Windows.h causes massive namespace pollution with its defining of many
macros, it adds to build times, it disables warnings, and it makes it
easier to write non-portable code.

This change removes windows.h from V8's win32-headers.h. It does this
by replicating the small number of typedefs that are needed and by
defining three "proxy" types that are the same size and layout. The
V8ToWindowsType functions are used to reinterpret_cast between the
types.

Prior to this change there were over 760 v8-related source files that
include windows.h. After this change there are 16.

acb0263c7f cppgc: Fix flaky crash due to used bytes counters mismatch
Cppgc reports used bytes statistics to CppHeap. CppHeap should forward
the stats to v8. However, if we are not allowed to trigger a GC, CppHeap
will cache the stats until the reporting.
On GC finalization, CppHeap resets v8's counters to the current marked
bytes counter.
If the last reported stats before GC finalization are cached, CppHeap
doesn't clear the cache on GC finalization. On the next stats reporting,
CppHeap will report the cached values. If the cache is a decrease that
is larger than the current marked bytes, a DCHECK in
LocalEmbedderHeapTracer::DecreaseAllocatedSize will fail.

b971ab3067 [traphandler] Fix test link errors on some MSan/ASan builds
Found these when compiling the arm64 simulator for MSan (Release) and
ASan (Debug and Release). Depending on the exact configuration (and
compiler), different functions will get inlined and different symbols
need to be available at link time.

1) Since GetRecoveredTrapCount is used in a unittest, it needs to be
   exported.

2) The thread-local g_thread_in_wasm_code cannot be exported on
   Windows, hence it cannot (safely) be used in unit tests. Use the
   {GetThreadInWasmThreadLocalAddress} function instead, which will
   return the address of that thread-local variable.

52f1d69eca Revert "Calls to {console} require an access check for the provided arguments"
This reverts commit a5fd60e15a.

Reason for revert: As per crbug/1213374 this is not applied consistently. E.g. wrapping object into an array will bypass access checks. With the crrev/c/3041424 however, only accessible properties are shown in console, so logging a restricted object is no longer unsafe.

Original change's description:
> Calls to {console} require an access check for the provided arguments
>
> This CL adds an access check for the arguments to all calls to
> {console} like {console.log}. This is needed since the DevTools
> protocol notificiation event does not contain the context in which
> the {console.log} call occurred. Only the context of the argument.
> When DevTools then reads properties for the preview of the argument,
> it uses arguments context, instead of the calling context, potentially
> leaking objects/exceptions into the calling context.

c58862c360 cppgc: Allow CrossThreadPersistent to access poisoned memory from GC
Allow CrossThreadPersistent and its weak form to access ASAN poisoned
memory from the GC entry points.

In general, payloads of to-be-finalized objects are poisoned until the
finalizer actually runs to avoid accidentally touching that payload.

In the case of cross-thread handles, these may need to be cleared by a
different thread before the finalizer actually runs. In order to clear
those references, the slot needs to be unpoisoned.

This is issue is ASAN-only and does not affect production or other
debug builds.

e312038daf [wasm] Add trap-handler support for arm64 simulator
This adds a little {Simulator::ProbeMemory} method that is used from
several places in the arm64 simulator to test if a memory address can be
accessed, and trigger a signal from a specific location such that the
trap-handler can handle it. In case of a trap, the simulator is
redirected to the landing pad and stops executing the memory
instruction that triggered the trap.

Standard memory accesses and SIMD memory loads and stores are
instrumented to probe the memory. This passes all existing tests. In
case this CL misses certain spots, we can still add them later. This
will not be a security problem, since we do not use the simulator in
production.

f30f481525 [torque] Invert the default for @generateCppClass
Since most Torque-defined extern classes use @generateCppClass, it makes
more sense to instead annotate the small number that don't. This is part
of the cleanup work that Nico recommended in [1].

Classes that still have to opt out:

- Those that can be converted by https://crrev.com/c/3015666
- HeapObject: sort of special since it's the root of the inheritance
  hierarchy. Generated code would include two declarations that don't
  compile until HeapObject is defined:
    bool IsHeapObject_NonInline(HeapObject o);
    explicit TorqueGeneratedHeapObject(
        Address ptr, HeapObject::AllowInlineSmiStorage allow_smi);
- SmallOrdered*: these classes use templates on the C++ side, which is
  not currently representable in Torque.
- SwissNameDictionary: according to a comment, the Torque generation for
  this class is incorrect. I haven't investigated further.

Drive-by fix: make the Torque formatter keep LF on Windows rather than
writing CRLF.

This wraps up the transition away from kSerialized ref kinds.

Since JSFunctionRef is a complex type, we don't attempt full
consistency on the background thread. Instead, we serialize functions
on the background in a partially-racy manner, in which consistency
between different JSFunction fields is *not* guaranteed. Consistency
is later verified through a new compilation dependency kind during
finalization.

ce08dec035 [compiler] Fix a (harmless) DCHECK failure
A frame state's outer frame state input can be kDeadValue. A DCHECK
did not take that into account. In release builds there was no issue
because we branch on the opcode anyways.

While fixing this bug, I'm strengthening the FrameState class such that
a FrameState node must have a kFrameState operator. I'm also
- changing the result type of outer_frame_state() from FrameState to
  Node* since it may in fact not be a kFrameState;
- removing has_outer_frame_state() because I find it unintuitive to
  have outer_frame_state() return non-NULL even when
  has_outer_frame_state() would return true.

3b3c7d92d9 Fix v8 unittests broken on official builds by recent crash logging changes
Commit 26d85acee2 "Use IMMEDIATE_CRASH on
official build FATAL errors." has changed how FATAL macro behaves on
such builds. Unfortunately this affects logging and
random number generator v8 unittests which use ASSERT_DEATH_IF_SUPPORTED
macro. After the change we no longer get any v8 CHECK crash messages on
official builds thus failing those tests.

Fix this by adjusting failing test expectations to reflect the new,
expected results v8 now has on official builds.

071a1acf32 [wasm] Refactor initializer expression handling
Design doc: https://bit.ly/3xPxWUe

This CL introduces two main changes:
- Initializer expressions are now decoded by WasmFullDecoder. With
  wasm-gc, initializer expressions are no longer just constants, and
  require complex decoding (including stack tracking). This resulted in
  extensive code duplication.
- Initializer expressions are not stored explicitly by module-decoder as
  an AST (WasmInitExpr), but rather as a WireBytesRef, and are decoded
  again during module instantiation. This should reduce memory
  consumption for globals and other module elements with initializer
  expressions (which has been observed in the 40MB range in some
  real-world benchmarks.

Summary of changes:
- Add a static parameter {kFunctionBody, kInitExpression} to the
  WasmDecoder. Use it to specialize validation to function bodies/init.
  expressions.
- Introduce a new Interface for the WasmFullDecoder for init.
  expressions.
- Differentiate between constant and non-constant opcodes in
  WasmFullDecoder.
- Change representation of init. expressions in WasmModule to
  WireBytesRef.
- Reimplement EvaluateInitExpression in module-instantiate to re-decode
  initializer expressions.
- Remove some now-invalid module decoder tests.

Pending changes:
- Also refactor initializer expressions for element segment entries.
- Reintroduce deleted tests.

9ca10d840c [wasm] Make --wasm-trap-handler a d8-only flag
This flag only controls whether d8 installs the signal handler for wasm
traps. Hence it should be a d8-only flag, to avoid confusion if used in
other embeddings.
We just introduced --wasm-enforce-bounds-checks to do what you might
think --no-wasm-trap-handler would do.

77713fdd71 Fix -Wloop-analysis warnings in V8.
These indicate when a range-based for loop is using an index whose type
(value, pointer, or reference) doesn't match what the loop actually
extracts from the range. Fix by matching the actual type better.

This shouldn't cause any behavior/performance change, just be slightly
clearer about what's actually happening when reading the code.

7f5383e8ad [base] Move utils/vector.h to base/vector.h
The adding of base:: was mostly prepared using git grep and sed:
git grep -l <pattern> | grep -v base/vector.h | \
  xargs sed -i 's/\b<pattern>\b/base::<pattern>/
with lots of manual clean-ups due to the resulting
v8::internal::base::Vectors.

#includes were fixed using:
git grep -l "src/utils/vector.h" | \
  axargs sed -i 's!src/utils/vector.h!src/base/vector.h!'

c91c72706e Reland "[heap] Remove unused LocalSpace class"
This is a reland of b0c70710a4

The first CL got reverted because of build errors. This CL replaces the
remaining usage of is_local_space() with is_compaction_space().
Supposedly this was a leftover because https://crrev.com/c/2928189
landed at roughly the same time.

Original change's description:

b0c70710a4 [heap] Remove unused LocalSpace class
LocalSpace was introduced for off-heap spaces with concurrent bytecode
compilation finalization. However, finalization ended up using
LocalHeap for concurrent allocations. LocalSpace is therefore unused
and can be removed.

This CL removes LocalSpace and renames all mentions of local space to
compaction space. Compaction space was the only local space left.

ee56a9863e [test] Run heavy tests sequentially
This adds a new status file indicator "HEAVY" to mark tests with high
resource demands. There will be other tests running in parallel,
but only a limited number of other heavy tests. The limit is
controlled with a new parameter --max-heavy-tests and defaults to 1.

The change also marks a variety of tests as heavy that recently had
flaky timeouts. Heavy also implies slow, hence heavy tests are
executed at the beginning with a higher timeout like other slow tests.

The implementation is encapsulated in the test-processor chain. A
new processor buffers heavy tests in a queue and adds buffered tests
only if other heavy tests have ended their computation.

69be929b64 cppgc: Fix marked bytes accounting for weak containers
Conceptually, Oilpan uses tri-color marking even though the
implementatin only uses a single mark bit. The difference between gray
and black is represented by the fact that an objet is contained within
a worklist.

Live bytes are accounted on gray->black transition and must only
happen once. This is generally implemented when retrieving an object
from the work list and processing it.

For weak containers this CL fixes the following issues:

1. Weak containers that are strongified during stack scanning were
   double accounted as they were just added to the marking worklist.
   Instead, directly process them during stack scanning.
2. Accounting was missing in case of purely weak collections without
   ephemeron tracing. In such a case, the backing store would not be
   added to a worklist and be considered as black immediately. The fix
   is to directly account the marked bytes in such a scenario.

add69092c5 [web snapshot] Support RegExp
This CL adds support for regular expressions. To serialize a regular
expression, the pattern and flags are extracted and serialized as
strings.

Also, JSRegExp::StringFromFlags() is introduced to allow for
transforming back from JSRegExp::Flags to the corresponding flag string.
To verify that this implementation is on par with
RegExp.prototype.flags, unittests are introduced under
regexp/regexp-unittest.cc and RegExpBuiltinsAssembler::FlagsGetter()
is updated to include a slow path that calls JSRegExp::StringFromFlags()
through a runtime function.

02ac71e256 [turbofan] Disallow floating control in wasm
Loop unrolling did not work properly with floating control. Seeing as
very few spots in the wasm compiler introduced floating control, we
decided to disallow it altogether.
Changes:
- When lowering 64-bit rol/ror/clz/ctz in 32-bit platforms, we use a
  diamond operator, which used to introduce floating control. This CL
  adds a control edge to these operators so that the diamond can be
  chained to that control instead.
- During loop analysis, as an additional safety check, we check that the
  explored loop does not have floating control. Exceptionally, floating
  control pointing directly do start() is allowed.
- Change wasm-compiler so that generated floating projections point to
  start() even after stack check patch-in.

Destroyed large pages can be reallocated before the OS get a chance to

of being freed.
Fix by explicitly clearing the payload when destroying a large page.

519c82ce36 Collect receiver to feedback for prototype.apply
When a function is invoked by prototype.apply, it may undergo following transformation in the JSCallReducer:
	receiver.apply(this, args) ->
	this.receiver(...args) Since the new target (also the receiver of apply()) is not collected to the feedback slot, further speculative optimization on the new target is not available if the new target
is not a heapconstant.

With this CL, the receiver will be collected to the feedback instead of the target if the target is a prototype.apply. It may improve the performance of the following usecase by ~80%.

function reduceArray(func, arr, r) {
    for (var i = 0, len = arr.length; i < len; i++) {
            r = func.apply(null, r, arr[i]);
    }
    return r;
}

var a = 0; for (var i = 0; i < 10000000; i++) {
    a += reduceArray(Math.imul, [5,6,2,3,7,6,8,3,7,9,2,5,], 1);
}
console.log(a);

This CL also improves the runTime score of JetStream2/richards-wasm by ~45% in default, ~60% with --turbo-inline-js-wasm-calls.

896f9c23da cppgc: fix sourceLocation test on gcc
This test produces different outputs when compiled with

I have also tested it with gcc-10 on x64 and it still fails.
The line numbers seem to be different when compiled with gcc
instead of clang.

As a workaround we can force the usage of macros in one line
to assure outputs are the same on either compiler.

ede5e81439 Revert "[wasm-simd] Canonicalize shuffles when creating TurboFan graph"
This reverts commit d16eefe0f2.

It is not correct to check for node equality during the graph
construction phase, because we can have optimizations that will combine
same nodes. So it can happen that in wasm-compiler, the inputs to
shuffle are not the same, so we canonicalize using that knowledge that
it will not be the same, and allow indices > 15. But later we can have
optimizations that combine the 2 inputs (e.g. splat of the same
constants), and the instruction selector will see that the input nodes
are the same.

2871e05cc3 Reland "[codegen] Add static interface descriptors"
This is a reland of ae0752df1b

Reland fixes:

  * Remove UNREACHABLE() from constexpr switch, since we don't have a
    CONSTEXPR_UNREACHABLE() (it's ok, the switch is exhaustive for the
    enum anyway).
  * Fix IsRegisterArray trait to use public inheritance and size_t for
    std::array size.

Original change's description:

ae0752df1b [codegen] Add static interface descriptors
Add a new CRTP StaticCallInterfaceDescriptor class, which provides
static constexpr getters for a descriptor's registers, parameter counts,
and so on. Each CallInterfaceDescriptor subclass is changed to extend
StaticCallInterfaceDescriptor, with StaticCallInterfaceDescriptor itself
extending CallInterfaceDescriptor to still provide a dynamic lookup
where needed.

StaticCallInterfaceDescriptor provides a couple of customisation points,
where it reads its CRTP derived descriptor's static fields and
functions, with default fallbacks where appropriate. With these
customisation points, the definition of CallInterfaceDescriptor
subclasses is simplified to:

    a) Providing parameter names (as before)
    b) Providing parameter types (as before)
    c) Optionally setting flags (like kNoContext or kAllowVarArgs) as
       static booleans on the class.
    d) Optionally providing a `registers()` method that returns a
       std::array<Register, N> of registers that may be used for
       parameters (if not provided, this defaults to the implementation
       specific default register set).

Parameter registers (and register count) are automagically set based on
the number of parameters and number of given registers, with extra magic
to ignore no_reg registers (to reduce ia32 special casing). The
CallInterfaceDescriptorData is initialized based on these static
functions, rather than manual per-descriptor initializers.

This allows us to skip loading descriptors dynamically for CallBuiltin
in Sparkplug, and instead lets us use a bit of template magic to
statically set up arguments for the calls. Any other users of statically
known descriptors will also benefit, thanks to C++ picking the static
methods over the dynamic methods on the base class when available.

Because we can remove various virtual functions and trigger heavier
inlining of constantly known values, binary size slightly decreases with
this change.

Note that torque-generated descriptors are changed to use the same magic,
rather than having Torque-specific magic, for consistency.

05b385887e [wasm] Update br_table with the latest spec changes
The typing of br_table was relaxed in
https://github.com/WebAssembly/spec/pull/1305. Before, we had to compute
the greatest lower bound of all branch types and make sure that stack
values are subtypes of that type. Now, we have to check that the stack
values are subtypes of each individual branch. This makes a difference
only in polymorphic stacks, but greatly simplifies the code, especially
with the upcoming introduction of a much more complex type system in
wasm-gc.

Introduce two machine nodes for FABD and fold Float32/64 Abs,Sub
during instruction selection.

This gives ~1% speed improvement of the Bullet physics engine
compiled as wasm.

28d5f133df [heap] Fix deadlock with concurrent allocation and blocked main thread
It could happen (e.g. with --stress-background-compile) that the main
thread blocks for a background thread but the background thread requests
a GC from the main thread. This would result in a deadlock. Avoid this
by parking the main thread for potentially blocking operations and allow
allocations while the main thread is parked.

This CL introduces new states for the main thread: CollectionRequested
and ParkedCollectionRequested. These states will force Safepoint(),
Park() and Unpark() on the main thread into slow paths. The slow path
can then perform a GC on the main thread - right before parking or after
the main thread got unparked.

950b281ffe [compiler] Inline 64bit immediates and RPO numbers in InstructionOperand
AddImmediate ends up pushing repeated immediates very often
unecessarily. Add support for Int64 immediates being inlined into
InstructionOperand if they fit into the payload (which is almost always
the case). Also add a seperate rpo_immediate vector for RPO numbers to
avoid having to add them to the immediates_ vector multiple times.
Ideally the RPO values would also be inlined, however JumpThreading
needs to patch RPO targets throughout the instruction stream, so we
need an indirection.
