881b89240c [ic] Fix KeyedLoadIC for "string"[4294967295]
If index > JSObject::kMaxElementIndex, we have to perform a prototype
chain lookup for a named property. The corresponding check was missing
for string receivers.

548c40ed07 Reland "[off-thread] Allow off-thread top-level IIFE finalization"
This is a reland of 35a6eeecfa

Reland fixes:
  * Add a SharedFunctionInfo::CopyFrom to encapsulate updating the SFI
    from the placeholder. This now includes copying scope_info (which
    wasn't included in the original CL and caused some of the issues)
  * Make sure that LocalHandleScope is initialised only inside of
    UnparkedScope (fixed TSAN issues)
  * Clean-up: Don't add `script_` to ParseInfo, but instead pass it
    separately to Parser. Eventually we'd ideally get rid of ParseInfo
    entirely (splitting it into input and output) so let's not add more
    fields to it. Reverts changing CreateScript to InitializeScript.

bfa681ffb9 [regexp] Handle marker value 0x10ffff in MakeRangeArray
Unfortunately, CharacterRanges may use 0x10ffff as a marker value
signifying 'highest possible code unit' irrespective of whether the
regexp instance has the unicode flag or not. This value makes it
through RegExpCharacterClass::ToNode unmodified (since no surrogate
desugaring takes place without /u). Correctly mask out the 0xffff
value for purposes of building our uint16_t range array.

Note: It'd be better to never introduce 0x10ffff in the first place,
but given the irregexp pipeline's lack of hackability I hesitate to
change this - we are sure to rely on it implicitly in other spots.

Drive-by: Refactors.

5395045f5a Allow name collision when materializing scope object
When materializing a scope object, we previously assumed that we will
not have any name collisions. This is not correct e.g. when eval
introduces an aliased local variable.

This CL resolves this wrong assumption. The test case should not crash.
It however fails as there is a bug in how debug-evaluate should resolve
variables defined in eval.

d28bfcd570 [class] refactor ClassFields benchmarks and copy them into JSTests3
This patch refactors the ClassFields benchmarks and makes the results
detection work properly. Previously the errors weren't caught since
the ClassFields benchmarks don't get run in the perf_integration
step in the CI.

- Instead of putting different configs (single/multiple fields, type
  of fields, etc.)in the JSON configuration, we now group the related
  benchmarks into the same script and run the different configurations
  in the scripts directly. Only the optimization status is now
  controlled in JSON. All the class fields definition benchmarks are
  merged into initialize-class.js.
- Update the number of local iterations of evaluate-class.js to 100
  (similar to most of other benchmarks) to keep the time spent on
  this benchmark similar to that of other benchmarks.

In addition, copy the configs to JSTests3 so that the benchmarks gets
run by the perf_integration step and we can see the graphs on
http://chromeperf.appspot.com/report. These can be removed
when the ClassFields benchmark results are generated there too.

96e7245966 [ia32][x64][wasm] Do not require dst == lhs for i64x2.mul
There is a bit of a contradictory register requirement in the

that they don't alias the temp).

We remove the requirement for dst == lhs, since the code gen can handle
both cases (dst == lhs, dst != lhs), at the expense of 1 movaps.

15b1ce39a8 [compiler-dispatcher] Port to Jobs API
Port the CompilerDispatcher to use the Jobs API, instead of its own
hand-rolled worker management.

This required some re-thinking of how testing is handled, since the
tests want to be able to

  a) Defer calls to PostTask/Job, to actuall post the jobs later. This
     was easy enough with PostTask, since we could simply store the task
     in a list and no-op, but PostJob has to return a JobHandle. The
     tests now have a DelayedJobHandleWrapper, which defers all method
     calls on itself, and because of all the unique_ptrs, there's also
     now a SharedJobHandleWrapper.

  b) Wait until tasks/jobs complete. Returning from a Task meant that
     the task had completed, but this isn't necessarily the case with
     JobTasks; e.g. a job might be asked to yield. This patch hacks
     around this by Posting and Joining a non-owning copy of the
     requested JobTask, and then re-posting it once Join returns.

When evaluating a top-level expression while paused on a breakpoint, we
don't support an await expression as top-level statement. In these

To do so, we now propagate the information from DebugEvaluate to
ParseInfo and use the parse_info in parser-base to throw a more
informative error while parsing.

Not all the SSE2 instructions can be extended to

128-bit and 256-bit wide packed integer operands. Moreover,
the 256-bit shift instructions use XMM register/m128 to store
the shift count, while all the operands of others are YMM
registers/m256 operands,so we have to divide the
SSE2_INSTRUCTION_LIST into 3 lists, packed double, packed
integer and packed integer shift.

45227ffdb4 [turbofan] extend type asserts to cover all JS types
Extend type assertions to all types covering JavaScript values.
This is achieved by allocating type representations on the heap using
newly defined HeapObject subclasses. To allocate these in the compiler,
we disable concurrent compilation for the --assert-types flag for now.

Fix two type errors that came up with the existing tests:
1. JSCreateKeyValueArray has type Array (i.e., a JSArray) instead of
   OtherObject.
2. OperationTyper::NumberToString(Type) can type the result as the
   HeapConstant Factory::zero_string(). However, NumberToString does
   not always produce this string. To avoid regressions, the CL keeps
   the HeapConstant type and changes the runtime and builtin code to
   always produce the canonical "0" string.

A few tests were failing because they check for truncations to work
and prevent deoptimization. However, AssertType nodes destroy all
truncations (which is by design), so these tests are incompatible
and now disabled for the assert_types variant.

Drive-by fix: a few minor Torque issues that came up.

- Introduce v8::ScriptCompiler::CompileFunction
- Deprecate v8::ScriptCompiler::CompileFunctionInContext

The ScriptOrModule out-parameter is only used by NodeJS since we don't
allow arbitrary objects has host-defined options and they need a way to
keep the options alive.

This CL deprecates the out-parameter and adds helper methods to
address the most common use-cases.

The final fix still requires more fundamental changes on how host-defined
options are handled.

a4252db322 [wasm][liftoff] Fix spill offsets in merge regions
Recompute the spill offsets for values in the merge region, instead of
reusing the offsets of the source. This ensures that spill slots stay
contiguous (modulo alignment).
This also solves a correctness issue where the spill offsets in the
merge region could move up, thereby overwriting the source of another
move.
With this change, the spill offsets always move down (to fill the gap)
or stay the same, such that processing them from bottom to top
can only overwrite sources of already-processed moves.

Since we do not reuse the current state's offsets, this might generate
extra stack moves and regress generated code performance a bit.

Drive-by: print spill offsets in the Liftoff trace

8678fc629d [heap-snapshot] Declaring progress counter as uint32_t (instead of int)
A test was overflowing on the progress counter when using int as type.
This CL is fixing the progress counter to use uint32_t, and re-enables
the test.

Why uint32_t instead of size_t?
In the referenced bug, the progress_counter_ (but not the
progress_total_) triggered an overflow; and since these two counters
should be relatively similar (the total count is an estimate, and can
be less than the actual progress count), we do not expect the
count to increase much more than we can already encode with int.

b7dc9915ff [regexp] Only emit valid ranges in MakeRangeArray
Character class handling in the irregexp pipeline is quite complex;
codepoints outside the BMP (basic multilingual plane) are only
translated into surrogate pairs when needed, e.g. when the subject
string is two-byte. If not needed, the codepoints simply stay part of
the list of CharacterRanges.

In EmitCharClass, we determine the valid subset of ranges through
ranges_length; until this CL, we forgot to pass that information on to
MakeRangeArray. Do that now by truncating the list of CharacterRanges.

In order to test this better, we introduce the a new

88c0f72927 [turbofan] Fix calling class constructors with spread
Calling class constructors without new is a spec violation and should
raise an exception.
In [1] calling class constructors with spread (without new) was handled
by reducing the node to a call to runtime to raise the exception.
However, arguments of the call have to be evaluated first ([2]).
This CL changes the reduction of JSCallWithSpread/JSCallWithArrayLike to
a no-op in JSCallReducer if the target is a class constructor, delaying
raising of the exception to the call builtin.

70a0baaa59 [test] Robustify wait in regress-bug-9161
mjsunit/regress/regress-crbug-9161 had two spinlocks on an atomic:

  1. WaitUntil(lock == kStageRunning)
  2. WaitUntil(lock == kStageDone)

But, in theory the worker updating the "lock" could progress all the way
to kStageDone before the first loop manages to check the lock value
again.

We can make this more robust by checking:

  1. WaitUntil(lock != kStageInit)
  2. WaitUntil(lock == kStageDone)

That way both loops check for _any_ state past the state they want to
progress past.

b141fedfed [inspector] Improve class name inference.
Previously having a `Symbol.toStringTag` property holding a string
somewhere in the prototype chain would always take predence over trying
to determine a reasonable name from the "constructor" (in case of
subclassing). This would lead to confusing behavior when diagnosing
objects in DevTools, for example

```js
class A extends URLSearchParams {};
new A()
```

would show `URLSearchParam` as class name for the instance rather than
`A`.

With this CL, we change the lookup logic to explicitly check for
`Symbol.toStringTag` and "constructor" along each step of the prototype
chain (skipping the "constructor" for the leaf object) and pick the
first one that yields a string (that is the function debug name in case
of "constructor").

This is a reland of 929b83fb7b

This version of the CL also fixes initialization of the

This CL also got rebased on Victor's CL in https://crrev.com/c/3229361.
It added a code_space_allocator_ in LocalHeap which needs to be
initialized a bit later on the main thread as well.

bce4410837 [wasm][turbofan] Improve inlining heuristics
This CL improves wasm inlining heuristics in Turbofan, for an average
8,5% performance improvement in selected benchmarks.

Changes:
- In WasmInliner::Reduce(), only collect inlining candidates into a
  priority queue, according to WasmInliner::LexicographicOrdering.
  Move actual inlining to Finalize().
- Remove the InlineFirstFew heuristic. Add two limits to inlining:
  Maximum relative size increase (reversely proportional to the function
  size), and absolute size increase.
- Pass information about call frequency from liftoff-collected feedback
  to the WasmInliner though the wasm module.
- Run wasm inlining along other optimizations in the pipeline.
- Split inlining and speculative inlining tests.

929b83fb7b [heap] Attach to shared isolate after setting up main thread
Attach to the shared isolate after the main thread was set up. Otherwise
it could happen that a shared GC initiated from another isolate might
see no threads are running and performs the safepoint operation in the
middle of isolate deserialization.

We use DisallowSafepoints to check that the isolate doesn't join a
global safepoint before deserialization is complete. DisallowSafepoints
used to prevent only invocations of Safepoint() but was updated to
also prevent Park() and Unpark() invocations. Each state change could
cause the thread to reach a safepoint, which would allow a shared GC
to run.

We now also DCHECK that every isolate has at least one local heap and
that shared collections aren't started before deserialization is
complete.

cb08942d2d [inspector] Properly catch side effecting iterators.
Array spread syntax `[...obj]` is compiled to a special bytecode that
tries to take fast-paths for values special kinds of `obj`s, including
Set, Map, and Array iterator instances. But these fast-paths skip the
side-effect checks of `Runtime.evaluate` and friends, and thus lead to
surprises for developers.

This CL alters the behavior to always call the `next()` builtins when
the debugger is active to make sure we catch the side effects correctly.

6e707c95a5 Respect page allocator hints on Fuchsia
The virtual memory cage supports a fallback mode that attempts to obtain
memory pages within a specific virtual address range by using
PageAllocator hints. However, Prior to this CL, the default
PageAllocator on Fuchsia would ignore hints alltogether, preventing
these mechanisms from working there.

Ultimately, on Fuchsia it would probably be better to manage the virtual
memory cage purely through VMARs instead of actually creating pseudo
mappings just to reserve virtual address space as is currently done
through the PageAllocator. This will require broader changes though, so
in the meantime, sticking to the current PageAllocator API is probably
the best option.

It keeps references to ScriptOrModule alive on the Script to restore the
previous behavior (at an additional memory cost).

713ebae3b4 [class] Add IC support for defining class fields to replace runtime call
Introduces several new runtime mechanics for defining private fields,
including:
  - Bytecode StaKeyedPropertyAsDefine
  - Builtins StoreOwnIC{Trampoline|Baseline|_NoFeedback}
  - Builtins KeyedDefineOwnIC{Trampoline|Baseline|_Megamorphic}
  - TurboFan IR opcode JSDefineProperty

These new operations can reduce a runtime call per class field into a
more traditional Store equivalent. In the microbenchmarks, this
results in a substantial win over the status quo (~8x benchmark score
for single fields with the changes, ~20x with multiple fields).

The TurboFan JSDefineProperty op is lowered in
JSNativeContextSpecialization, however this required some hacks.
Because private fields are defined as DONT_ENUM when added to the
object, we can't find a suitable transition using the typical data
property (NONE) flags. I've added a mechanism to specify the required
PropertyAttributes for the transition we want to look up.

Details:

New bytecodes:
  - StaKeyedPropertyAsDefine, which is essentially StaKeyedProperty
    but with a different IC builtin (KeyedDefineOwnIC). This is a
    bytecode rather than a flag for the existing StaKeyedProperty in
    order to avoid impacting typical keyed stores in any way due to
    additional branching and testing.

New builtins:
  - StoreOwnIC{TTrampoline|Baseline|_NoFeedback} is now used for
    StaNamedOwnProperty. Unlike the regular StoreIC, this variant will
    no longer look up the property name in the prototype.
    In adddition, this CL changes an assumption that
    StoreNamedOwnProperty can't result in a map transition, as we
    can't rely on the property already being present in the Map due
    to an object literal boilerplate.

    In the context of class features, this replaces the runtime
    function %CreateDataProperty().

  - KeyedDefineOwnIC{Trampoline|Baseline|_Megamorphic} is used by the
    new StaKeyedPropertyAsDefine bytecode. This is similar to an
    ordinary KeyedStoreIC, but will not check the prototype for
    setters, and for private fields, will take the slow path if the
    field already exists.

    In the context of class features, this replaces the runtime
    function %AddPrivateField().

TurboFan IR:
  - JSDefineProperty is introduced to represent a situation where we
    need to use "Define" semantics, in particular, it codifies that we
    do not consult the prototype chain, and the semantics relating to
    private fields are implied as well.

1ea76c1397 Implement a fake virtual memory cage mechanism
On operating systems where reserving virtual address space is expensive,
notably Windows pre 8.1, it is not possible to create a proper virtual
memory cage. In order to still be able to reference caged objects
through offsets from the cage base on these systems, this CL introduces
a fake cage mechanism. When the fake cage is used, most of the virtual
memory for the cage is not actually reserved. Instead, the cage's page
allocator simply relies on hints to the OS to obtain pages inside the
cage. This does, however, not provide the same security benefits as a

59c381077e [ext-code-space] Introduce RelocInfo::target_object(PtrComprCageBase)
... as a result of merging RelocInfo::target_object() with
RelocInfo::target_object_no_host(PtrComprCageBase),
where the cage base is used for accessing compressed embedded pointers.

There are two reasons for this change:
1) the parameterless version used to compute the cage base value from
   the host Code object, however, when external code space is enabled
   such a base value will not work for non-Code objects, since they
   require different cage base for decompressing,
2) when external code space is enabled, there must be no need to embed
   compressed Code objects at all because CodeDataContainers must be
   used instead.

6241875073 cppgc: Add support for double-word aligned allocations
Adds support for double-word aligned, i.e., 8 bytes on 32-bit
platforms and 16 bytes on 64-bit platforms, objects in Oilpan.

Changes:
- Adds generic alignment APIs and overrides.
- Internal logic to support double-word aligned allocations on LABs.
- Adjusts natural alignment of large objects to follow double-word.
- Adds a new static_assert() that suggests users file a bug if higher
  alignment is required.
- Statically checks that no allocations with non-default alignment
  target custom spaces that support compaction.

0c3fdff2d2 [debug] Capture more cases for instrumentation breakpoints
The previous implementation would not explicitly send
`Debugger.paused` events for instrumentation breakpoints
if they were to overlap with breaks due to:
* regular breakpoints
* OOM
* exceptions
* asserts

This CL is a step towards making sure that a separate
`Debugger.paused` event is always sent for an instrumentation
breakpoint. In some cases where we have overlapping reasons
but only know of one, the 'instrumentation' reason,
we still just send out one paused event with the reason
being `instrumentation`.

Drive-by: send instrumentation notification to all sessions,
remember which breakpoints are instrumentation breakpoints

388a80bab7 [snapshots] Add a new snapshot for shared heap objects
This CL adds a new snapshot to hold objects that are in the shared heap
or may need to be in the shared heap depending on runtime flags.
Currently this is to support --shared-string-table, which puts all
in-place-internalizable strings, internalized strings, and the
string table into the shared heap.

The shared heap snapshot is never deserialized into client Isolates.
This means when V8 is started without a shared Isolate, the shared heap
snapshot is deserialized into all Isolates.

e1981ff5e2 [strings] Share internalized and in-place internalizable strings
To prepare for prototyping shared memory features, all internalized and
in-place internalizable (1- and 2-byte seq strings and external strings)
will always be allocated in the shared old space.

Cons strings, thin strings, and sliced strings remain allocated in the
thread-local space. They are copied over to the shared space when
internalized, as internalization implies flattening, which for these
strings requires a copy already.

To make the in-place internalization threadsafe, updating the map of
such strings is now done with a release store.

This CL does not yet support external strings.
