eb381b9444 Introduce a RandonNumberGenerator class. Refactor the random/private_random uses in Isolate/Context.
The RandomNumberGenerator is a pseudorandom number generator
with 48-bit state. It is properly seeded using either

(1) the --random-seed if specified, or
(2) the entropy_source function if configured, or
(3) /dev/urandom if available, or
(4) falls back to Time and TimeTicks based seeding.

Each Isolate now contains a RandomNumberGenerator, which replaces
the previous private_random_seed.

Every native context still has its own random_seed. But this random
seed is now properly initialized during bootstrapping,
instead of on-demand initialization. This will allow us to cleanup
and speedup the HRandom implementation quite a lot (this is delayed
for a followup CL)!

Also stop messing with the system rand()/random(), which should
not be done from a library anyway! We probably re-seeded the
libc rand()/random() after the application (i.e. Chrome) already
seeded it (with better entropy than what we used).

Another followup CL will replace the use of the per-isolate
random number generator for the address randomization and
thereby get rid of the Isolate::UncheckedCurrent() usage in
the platform code.

2fdadd7794 Drop OS::IsOutsideAllocatedSpace() and move the tracking to the MemoryAllocator.
Instead of globally tracking allocated space limits, which was
not implemented properly anyway (i.e. lack of synchronization
on the reading side), track it per MemoryAllocator (that is
per heap/isolate).

In particular, avoid to call IsBadWritePtr() on Windows, it is
obsolete and Microsoft strongly discourages its usage.

e76482f2da Cleanup Mutex and related classes.
Drop the previous Mutex and ScopedLock classes from platform files.

Add new Mutex, RecursiveMutex and LockGuard classes, which are
designed after their C++11 counterparts, so that at some point
we can simply drop our custom code and switch to the C++11
classes. We distinguish regular and recursive mutexes, as the
latter don't work well with condition variables, which will be
introduced by a followup CL.

1596afa7f9 Move *BSD and Solaris Sampler implementation into sampler.cc
This is a first step to having profiler sampler implementation in one file with platform capabilities guarded with #ifdef. Otherwise we have very similar implementations scattered over platform-*.cc files which makes it hard to see differences and make changes.

The next steps will be to merge win32, Mac OS X and Cygwin implementations into sampler.cc They suspend profiled thread instead of sending a signal but apart from that the logic is pretty much the same. Then I'm going to move sampler-related code from log.* into sampler.*

c203f05474 Delivery logic for Object.observe
This CL has two parts: the first is the logic itself, whereby each observer callback is assigned
a "priority" number the first time it's passed as an observer to Object.observe(), and that
priority is used to determine the order of delivery.

The second part invokes the above logic as part of the API, when the JS stack winds down to
zero.

Added several tests via the API, as the delivery logic isn't testable from a JS test
(it runs after such a test would exit).

63f033576c Fix performance regressions due to lazy initialization.
This CL:
- Adds a new trait parameter to LazyInstance to let it initialize the instance
without paying the cost of atomic operations (which are expensive on Mac).
This only works for users who don't care about thread-safety and this is now
the default initialization trait used by LazyInstance in v8.

- Reverts the changes that were made in r11010 in isolate.{cc,h}. That lets
Isolate's accessors be as cheap as they were before (but adds one static initializer).

- Adds OS::PostSetup() used to initialize the math functions which depend on CPU features.
That lets the math functions get rid of CallOnce().

a3eccef3fa Valgrind cleanliness, part 1: Delete current isolate on exit.
Currently we leak 140kB from 80 allocation sites when we evaluate a simple
"print(1+2)" in d8 and exit. This might not be a real problem in Chrome because
most of the time the whole process containing v8 vanishes, but it can hide real
leaks in a sea of false positives. Therefore, this CL and a few subsequent ones
clean this up a bit.

This simple CL alone fixes 45 leaks, leaving only 35 with a net loss of 2192
bytes (on ia32).

1f7d42efc9 Landing for pliard@chromium.org: Remove static initializers in v8.
This change includes two CLs by pliard@chromium.org:

1. http://codereview.chromium.org/9447052/ (Add CallOnce() and simple LazyInstance implementation):

Note that this implementation of LazyInstance does not handle global destructors (i.e. the lazy instances are never deleted).

This CL was initially reviewed on codereview.appspot.com:
http://codereview.appspot.com/5687064/

2. http://codereview.chromium.org/9455088/ (Remove static initializers in v8):
This CL depends on CL 9447052 (adding CallOnce and LazyInstance).
It is based on a patch sent by Digit.

With this patch applied, we have only one static initializer left (in atomicops_internals_x86_gcc.cc). This static initializer populates a structure used by x86 atomic operations. It seems that we can hardly remove it. If possible, it will be removed in a next CL.

This CL also modifies the presubmit script to check the number of static initializers.

bdf6895bb3 Encapsulate element handling into a class keyed on ElementsKind
Advantage is that it's much easier to add new element types (like FAST_SMI_ELEMENTS), and that handling logic for each element kind is (more) consolidated.

Currently, only GetElementsWithReceiver uses the new encapsulation, but the goal is to move much more element functionality into the class incrementally.

Crankshaft is now the default on all platforms. This is the first

This time with no removal of the crankshaft flag. --nocrankshaft is
not at all the same as --always-full-compiler which I had used instead
for testing. That was what caused timeouts on the buildbots because of
repeated attempts to optimize hot functions. It makes sense to keep
the crankshaft flag in case you want to run only with the full
compiler and with no adaptive compilation.

41d6cae46d Fix issue 493: Infinite loop when debug break is set when entering function.apply.
In the generated code for function.apply there was a loop checking the stack limit for interruption. This loop would call into the runtime system to handle interuption and keep running until there was no interruption. However if the interuption was debug break the runtime system would never clear the interruption as debug break is prevented in builtins are prevented and the assumption here was that returning with the debug break flag set would move execution forward.

Renamed initial_jslimit and initial_climit to real_jslimit and real_climit. Renamed a few external references related to the stack limit as well.

Exposed the real stack limit to generated code to make the stack check when entering function.apply use the real stack limit and not the stack limit which is changed to signal interruption.

Added the real stack limit to the roots array.

b5a19c1036 Rework the way we handle the fact that the ARM simulator uses a
separate JS stack.

In exception handling, we need to be able to compare addresses into
the JavaScript portion of the stack with the address of a C++ handler
on the stack. Since the stacks are separate on the simulator, we need
a JavaScript stack address corresponding to a C++ try catch handler in
order to perform valid address comparisons.

On the simulator, we now link the C++ try catch handlers indirectly
through the JS stack and use the JS stack indirection address for
comparisons.

      JS                    C++

                           handler
 [C++ address]   <------    next_
                \
                 \
                  \---->   handler
 [C++ address]   <------    next_

On actual hardware the C++ try catch handlers continue to be directly
linked.

are different). Is able to deserialize the whole heap and run
some stuff. Not available as the primary snapshot system yet.

5191c81dff Remove the high-priority flag from IdleNotification() since
it is a strange API and unused anyway.

When we roll this to Chrome, we'll need a small chrome patch
to fix Chrome's usage of the API.

bec08c35ca The error cases were returning false instead of true.
So if the caller does something like:
while(!IdleNotification())
it could spin forever if v8 were not initialized.

I'd like to further remove the is_high_priority flag,
because it is not in use. Mads - is there any reason
not to remove it?
