Use both the contents and the header width when wxLIST_AUTOSIZE_USEHEADER is
given instead of just the latter.
Also make both wxLIST_AUTOSIZE_USEHEADER and the previously implemented
wxLIST_AUTOSIZE work efficiently for the virtual list controls by reusing
wxMaxWidthCalculatorBase already used in the generic wxDataViewCtrl.

When launching child processes it can be convenient to be able to switch to
them later, provide a method in wxProcess to do it.
Currently this is only implemented in wxMSW but could almost certainly be done
for wxOSX too (it can be done using Apple Script, so presumably there is a way
to do it programmatically as well) and could be also made to work at least
under some Unix systems by emulating what wmctrl does (or just launching it?).
This is a simple high level helper combining an arbitrary control showing
multiple items with the buttons allowing to add items to and remove items from
this control, but using the buttons and the layout appropriate for the current
platform.
Add the implementation itself, an example of using it to the dialogs sample
and the documentation.

The table of contents is over 600 pages long with the default
settings. Now it only lists down to section, and runs 45 pages.
Section numbers were also colliding with names, so this fixes
the margins in the table of contents.

Using a custom header is an "experimental" feature since it bypasses
several Doxygen configuration options, and skips configuration
changes necessary for all automatically generated LaTeX.
This continues to use the nicer looking custom header, but brings
it up-to-date with the automatically generated one from 1.8.8.

Homogenize the behaviour of all ports when creating bitmaps with 0 width or

These macros are useful for functions called from other macros to allow
pretending that an assert inside such function actually happens at the point

Don't use the generic focus saving/restoring code for wxMDIParentFrame in
wxMSW as it already saves and restores the active MDI child on its own and we
should let it do it, as our code could change the active child when restoring
focus if it hadn't been saved correctly previously.
The fact that it is isn't saved is another bug, but even if it is fixed, we
should let MSW MDI implementation handle activation as we can't do it any
better -- but can do worse, as the bug described in #16635 shows.

Correct the "pushed" state determination in our own drawn code, it didn't work
for wxToggleButton which doesn't return BST_PUSHED from BM_GETSTATE. But it
does have BM_GETCHECK returning its state directly, so add a new virtual
MSWIsPushed() method and implement it differently for it.

Windows doesn't use the correct image for checked disabled tools, at least up
to and including Windows 7, so don't put such tools in the "checked" state at
all: this doesn't matter as they are disabled anyhow, but shows the correct
image for them.

While calling SetToolTip(wxToolTip*) overload already worked correctly for
wxCompositeWindow, using SetToolTip(wxString) did not if a tooltip already
existed, as it didn't use the virtual DoSetToolTip() in this case, resulting
in e.g. impossibility to update wxSpinCtrlDouble tooltip using this method.
Fix this by introducing DoSetToolTipText() virtual which is used by that
overload now and overriding it in wxCompositeWindow.
Also don't override DoSetToolTip() in wxSpinCtrlGenericBase any more, it is
not necessary as it's already done by its base class wxCompositeWindow.

Send these events to the menu itself first, then to the menu bar containing
it or the window invoking it if it's a popup menu and, finally, to the top
level window in all of wxGTK, wxMSW and wxOSX.
In particular, this ensures that help strings are now shown in the parent MDI
frame status bar by default, even when the menus are attached to the client
MDI frame or shown as popup menus.
At the implementation level, this logic is now encapsulated in a new static
wxMenu::ProcessMenuEvent() method which can be easily modified and reused in
other ports.

This means it can be now done in wxEventLoopBase itself and calls to
ProcessIdle() in the port-specific code are not needed any more, so remove
them.
This introduces a change in behaviour for wxMSW, where idle event handlers
were not invoked from inside wxYield() at all previously, and for wxOSX, where
only a single idle event is now generated from wxYield() instead of a stream
of them until no idle handler needs any more of them as before. But on the
bright side, the new behaviour seems to make most sense and is now the same in
all ports.

Modify wxPropertyGridManager::RecreateControls() to allow adding/removing categorized/alphabetic mode buttons to/from wxPG manager tool bar at any time (not only when creating the tool bar).
Modify wxPropertyGridManager::SetExtraStyle() to fully support manipulating these buttons via wxPG_EX_MODE_BUTTONS flag.

These events are supposed to carry a pointer to the menu which was opened or
closed, but wxMenuEvent::GetMenu() always returned NULL for the menus opened
when a child MDI frame was active, as its menu bar, containing the menu, was
not searched for it.
Fix this by overriding MSWFindMenuFromHMENU() at wxMDIParentFrame level, just
as we already do for FindItemInMenuBar().

wxComboBox::Clear() must call wxTextEntry::SetValue() explicitly instead of
calling its Clear() which just forwards back to wxComboBox own SetValue(),
which (correctly) doesn't work for read-only comboboxes when passed an empty
string.

This option, which is on by default unless the use of STL is disabled,
provides better interoperability with the standard library when it can be done
without breaking backwards compatibility.
The first example of its use is to allow passing std::vector<> of any string
compatible type to wxItemContainer::Append(), Insert() and Set(), allowing to
directly initialize various wxControls deriving from it such as wxChoice,
wxComboBox, wxListBox from a std::vector<> of strings.

Implement copying of wxStringTokenizer correctly: compiler-generated versions
didn't work as the position of the tokenizer didn't point into the correct
string after making the copy.
Fix this by adjusting the position iterator to use the copy of the string.

This makes the code (slightly) shorter and more clear and is more efficient as
selecting all items in wxDataViewCtrl is now a O(1) operation instead of being
O(N), where N is the number of items -- and the latter could take quite a long
time (and consume non-negligible amount of memory) for large N.
Increase the size of the virtual list control from 1000 to 10000000 in the
sample to show this.

Add functions to acquire/release power resources, preventing/allowing back the
system to go to sleep or turn off the screen and a class wrapping them in a
safe way.
This patch implements the functions for MSW and OSX, adds documentation and

In order to draw choice items with custom colours there is necessary to merge custom cell object (wxPGCell) associated with individual item with default cell object (in wxPGProperty::GetDisplayInfo).
wxPGProperty::GetDisplayInfo function should return customized cell object instead of returning pointer to the default cell object only.

When using C++11 we can provide implementations of wxApp::StoreCurrentException()
and RethrowStoredException() ourselves and thus make catching exceptions outside
of the event loop work by default.
Do this and update the documentation and the sample to reflect it.

These methods can be used to ensure that the exceptions thrown from event
handlers are safely rethrown from the code dispatching the events once the
control flow gets back there.
This allows to work around the problem with not being able to propagate
exceptions through non-C++ code and can be used, for example, to catch
exceptions thrown by the handlers invoked from inside wxYield() by a try/catch
block around wxYield() -- something that didn't work before, update the except
sample to show that it does work now.

This merges in the latest sources from GSoC 2014 wxQt project with just a few

This partially reverts the changes of r77029 and r77039: now functions such as
Set/GetLayout(), AlphaBlend() and GradientFill() are still called (almost)
directly when using MSVC but pass by dynamic loading with the other compilers,
which don't have #pragma comment(lib) and, in MinGW case, also lack some of
these functions in their libraries even if we do link with them.

Due to an apparent bug in Doxygen 1.8.2 (the version currently used for the
online documentation generation), using "@c __FOO__" not only renders __FOO__
in fixed width font, but also makes it bold (due to bad interaction with
Markdown support?), so use <tt>__FOO__</tt> instead to work around this.
And in one case, escape underscores explicitly (in __VISUALC7__) as they were
still interpreted, even inside <tt>.

Also add wxSimplebook::Create() as the version inherited from wxBookCtrlBase
didn't _quite_ work: we need to add wxBK_TOP style to prevent asserts due to

The native control doesn't redraw itself, so force it to do it from the
overridden DoMSWControlColor() which is called every time the background
colour might have changed.

This allows to disable the use of all system libraries with a single option
instead of having to use --with-{lib{png,jpeg,tiff},regex,zlib,expat}=builtin
or similar.
This is especially useful under OS X where we want to avoid the dependencies
on any locally installed homebrew or similar libraries.

This file was last (really) updated in 2003 and, unsurprisingly, information

The code mapping positions for the units of the UTF-13/32 string used by
wxWidgets to positions for the units of the UTF-8 string used by Scintilla
didn't work correctly for the characters outside of the BMP, i.e. Unicode code

Don't support this compiler any more, this allows to get rid of tons of
MSVC6-specific workarounds, in particular we can now use Bind() and natural
template functions calls in the library code.
Also remove MSVC6 project and solution files and don't generate them when
bakefile_gen is ran any more (removing the remaining occurrences of msvc6prj
from the bakefiles results in weird bake-time errors, so it's simpler to just
leave them there).

Use the correct HDC, inheriting the right text orientation, when creating
wxMemoryDC in SurfaceImpl code.

Copy and paste rectangular selections in the standard format, this is
especially important under Windows where a (de facto) standard clipboard
format for such selections exists.
Also fix handling of multipaste, i.e. pasting clipboard contents into several
locations at once.

Native radio buttons don't support changing their foreground colour, so use
owner drawn buttons if SetForegroundColour() was called, similarly to what was
already done for wxCheckBox.

Allow the renderer to specify the best height at the given width (or vice

The user-visible effect of this change is that removing the item from the menu
and adding it back doesn't lose its icon any more.
At the code level, wxMenuItem::SetBitmaps() and related methods are
implemented outside of "#if wxUSE_OWNER_DRAWN" which allows to use them even
in minimalistic library builds. And IsOwnerDrawn() is not used any more to
determine whether the item has bitmaps, just only if it's really owner drawn,
making the code more clear and fixing at least the bug above and possible more.

Create ICO files with 24bpp if the image being saved contains more than 256
colours.
Also use smaller values (4 bpp or monochrome) if the image uses fewer colours.

Allow saving icons larger than 127*127 pixels (up to 256*256 which is the
maximal size supported by the ICO format) and save large icons with the item
data in PNG format, as it is normally done for these sizes.

The old implementation was completely broken, the new should hopefully work if
pthread_setschedparam() behaviour really corresponds to its documentation.
Mapping of our priorities in 0..100 range to pthread 1..99 range remains ugly
but this seems to be unavoidable, unfortunately.

Replace the old implementation of stretchable spacers based on changing the
size of the separators used as spacers as the toolbar size itself changed with
a new one, simply replacing the old separator with the new one of the correct
size, as it also works for the vertical toolbars, unlike the old approach.

This style tells the dialog to return the paths of the link being selected
without dereferencing it.
Currently only implemented under wxMSW as the links are not dereferenced by
default in wxGTK anyhow. But we may want to change this and implement it there
too for consistency in the future.

Provide a built-in alternative for using external files for the bitmaps in
SVG: allow embedding them inside the SVG itself using "data:" URI.
And also allow to define custom handlers to make the behaviour even more
flexible.

Previous this resulted in an assert and broken behaviour as it didn't update
the internally stored state. Do update it now and remove the assert as it
isn't possible to distinguish between user code calling Check() and wxGTK
doing it itself from wxCheckListBox implementation.

The status of the drop operation wasn't propagated back to the initiator of
drag and drop, so failing to drop data over a possibly accepting recipient
could result in wrong behaviour and even data loss.

Testing for absence of Alt modifier is wrong as it could be specified for the
events generated by AltGr-letter key combinations (AltGr is Alt+Ctrl), so this
commit broke the validation of any such symbols entered from non-US keyboard.
This is worse than the problem it was trying to fix, so revert this for now.
The real fix will need to ensure that the mnemonics are checked first, i.e.
before generating EVT_CHAR, in wxGTK, just as it already happens in wxMSW.
This reverts r75453.

Typical wxScopedArray initialization uses "new T[n]" expression, allow to omit
most of it and specify just n, the number of elements to allocate.

We detected that the label was invalid and gave a debug warning message about
it but then still proceeded to crash by accessing the data beyond the end of

This ensures that the files created by wxTextCtrl::SaveFile() can be read back
by wxTextCtrl::LoadFile() as previously the files were saved using the current
locale encoding but read back using Latin1 (after first trying, and failing,
to read them as UTF-8).
This is a backwards incompatible change but it ensures that wxTextCtrl can
load its own files and is also consistent with the use of UTF-8 by default in
other places. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, this ensures that the
file contents can always be saved, i.e. there is no risk of conversion errors
any more.

It didn't count the angles correctly when they were equal to 90 degrees.
Also simplify the code by avoiding special cases for 90 degrees anyhow, just
call atan2() directly. And also avoid converting the angles to degrees just to
convert them back to radians immediately afterwards.

Provide defaults for all properties in the spec. In XRC schema, make
all properties optional. The previously required ones are annotated as
"important" (read: should be set unless you know what you're doing), but
aren't enforced.
The code already behaved like this, so this just synchronizes the
specification with the reality.

This partially undoes the changes of r73290 by keeping __WXMSW__ defined for
the console mode user applications and only undefining it when building
wxWidgets itself.
This allows the existing code using __WXMSW__ to continue compiling correctly
with wxWidgets 3.0.

While we can't change the type of wxVariant to which SAFEARRAYs are converted
by default, it's much more convenient to work with the variant objects of the
correct type, i.e. using wxVariantDataSafeArray, when dealing with SAFEARRAYs,
so add a flag which can be set to tell a wxAutomationObject to behave in this
way.

This allows the program to distinguish between some other, unspecified,
warnings and this one which can and does happen whenever too many changes
occur too quickly but which has a clearly defined work around: the state kept
inside the program just needs to be refreshed by rescanning the directory anew.

Explicitly use wxConvLibc with wxTextInputStream to make sure we correctly
decode non-ASCII data in the subprocess output.
This is a hack, the real solution would be to make wxTextInputStream work

Some properties documented as required, such as labels on wxStaticText
or wxCheckBox or the size of wxSizer spacers, are frequently omitted in
practice.
Rather than strictly requiring them, forcing the markup to include dummy
empty elements, loosen the restriction in the spec and make them
optional. Nothing changes about actual acceptance of files by
wxXmlResource: it would already silently deal with the lack of these
properties.

It was replaced by GTK+ printing several years ago and is almost never used
any longer anyhow, so any problems in this code (and there are some) would
never be found and fixed.
Also update the message catalogs to avoid having the strings not used any
more, as they were only used in Gnome printing code.

wxListView appears identically to wxListCtrl in report mode and the existing
wxListCtrl screenshots show it exactly in this mode, so it doesn't make much
sense to duplicate them.
This also avoids Doxygen warnings about missing wxListView screenshots for
MSW and OSX.

__MINGW64_TOOLCHAIN__ macro is more readable and shorter than the standard
predefined __MINGW64_VERSION_MAJOR and __MINGW32_TOOLCHAIN__ is defined for
the symmetry and also because it will make many tests simpler as we often
need to test not so much for MinGW-w64 for its own sake but rather to disable
the workarounds for MinGW32 when using it.

The GetUntranslatedString() hack keeps a global copy of all strings, so
that it can return a const reference as wxGetTranslation() return value.
A global wxHashSet instance shared by all threads won't do, even guarded
with a critical section, because it may internally copy values on any
insert and thus invalidate pointers that may still be used on another
thread.

Don't consider that a flag is on just because one of its bits is enabled in

The documentation for setting image lists on controls was a complete
fabrication. It pretended that image lists were created as child
<object>s, while in reality they are properties just as e.g. fonts are.
Fix this and also better document the related 'image' property.

Always move the dates invalid due to DST (i.e. falling into the "missing" hour
on the DST start date) forward, as GNU libc does, even when using a different
CRT implementation, such as MSVC one which moves the invalid dates backwards.
This seems more expected and also fixes an especially bad problem which
happened due to moving the date backwards in Brazilian time zone where DST
starts at midnight as doing this changed the day and totally broke ParseDate()
assumption that setting wxDateTime to 00:00:00 at the given date really did
set it to this date.

This macro should be used instead of wxDEPRECATED() for the new deprecations
as it allows to give a helpful explanatory message (if supported by the
compiler) and also is simpler to use as it doesn't require wrapping the entire
declaration in it but can be simply used before it.
Also add wxDEPRECATED() support for clang as a side effect.

Previously we erroneously used the first icon in the image list for them
instead. This was inconsistent with wxGTK and didn't make much sense, even if
it is the default behaviour of the native control, so don't do this any more
and explicitly specify I_IMAGENONE for the icon if it wasn't given.

This method allows to get the full width needed by wxPropertyGrid and is
useful for determining the space to allocate for it, e.g. when creating a

This keyword is not expanded by Git which means it's not replaced with the
correct revision value in the releases made using git-based scripts and it's
confusing to have lines with unexpanded "$Id$" in the released files. As
expanding them with Git is not that simple (it could be done with git archive
and export-subst attribute) and there are not many benefits in having them in
the first place, just remove all these lines.
If nothing else, this will make an eventual transition to Git simpler.

Radio boxes refused to take focus from keyboard as their
wxControlContainer::AcceptsFocusFromKeyboard() always returned false because
the base wxStaticBox class disabled setting the focus to the control itself
and wxRadioBox doesn't have any children at wx level in wxMSW.
Fix this by reenabling "self focus" in wxRadioBox to make it possible to
accept focus from keyboard. This is not ideal as it doesn't take into account
e.g. radio boxes without any items or with all items disabled or hidden, but
this should be rare and would require virtualizing all children access at
wxControlContainer level, i.e. would be quite non-trivial so don't do this for
now as this, at least, fixes the navigation in common/normal case.
Also remove the unnecessary AcceptsFocus() override from wxRadioBox as this is
now done at wxControlContainer level.

The cursor didn't change to a link one when the mouse was over link areas in
an image map.
Fix this by generalizing wxHtmlCell::GetMouseCursor() into GetMouseCursorAt().

Deal correctly with updating the indices when a radio item is inserted into an
existing radio group (which wasn't done previously and resulted in a unit test
failure in MenuTestCase::RadioItems()) and also with inserting the normal
items before an existing radio group as the stored indices were not updated
correctly.
The code is still ugly and it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to reuse
wxMenuRadioItemsData used in wxMSW for similar purposes, but at least the unit
tests pass now.

"MSW" is used as the name of toolkit using the standard Windows UI while
"Windows" is the name of the OS under which wxGTK can be now used too (in
addition to wxMSW).
This terminology is not perfect but at least let's keep it unambiguous.

Add pngprefix.h file generated by libpng configure/make process (which we
don't run during wxWidgets build, so this is something that will need to be
redone manually whenever libpng is upgraded, the procedure for doing this is
documented in docs/tech/tn0025.txt) in order to use "wx_" prefix for all
libpng public symbols. This should avoid at least some problems due to the
conflicts between the built-in libpng and shared libpng loaded into the
process as GTK+ libraries dependency under Unix.
Also rename wx_png_{warning,error} to use upper case PNG for consistency with
wx_PNG_stream_{reader,writer} and to avoid conflict with png_{warning,error}()
which we now rename to have "wx_" prefix.

This happens to work under MSW and Unix where there is only one
wxStandardPaths class for both the console and the GUI applications but
doesn't return the correct result under OS X where the Core Foundation
version, returned by wxStandardPaths::Get(), has to be used for the GUI
programs. And historically this confused a lot of people, so just ensure that
they can't accidentally create an object of the wrong type any more.

The result was (consistently, so the tests still passed) off by an hour when
the program was ran while DST was in effect. Fix this by avoiding the use of
FileTimeToLocalFileTime() and LocalFileTimeToFileTime() and just directly
converting FILETIME values to wxDateTime. Not only this is more correct but
it's also simpler and more efficient as well.
Also add a unit test for wxFileName::SetTimes() too.

While this code is used by us if the program couldn't be launched at all, it
doesn't mean that it didn't run as -1 could also be returned by the child
process to indicate an error after outputting something, so we should still
read its output in this case.

This commit changes wxExecute() to handle SIGCHLD to be notified about the
child process termination instead of detecting when the file descriptor
corresponding to the other end of a pipe opened in the parent process was
closed in the child as this was not reliable and could (and did) result in not
detecting the termination of the child processes that closed all their file
descriptors before exiting.
This commit also removes a lot of platform-specific code duplicating the
generic event loop sources support and reuses it for wxExecute() purposes too.
Final big change is that wxEndProcessData was merged into wxExecuteData and we
don't have two similar but quite different classes any more but just one,
which is used both to pass the information from wxExecute() to wxAppTraits
methods and to store this information until the child termination.

This method allows to request exiting from the given event loop even if it's
not the currently active one, unlike Exit() which would assert in this case.
With it, it becomes possible to ask the loop to terminate as soon as possible
even if a nested loop is currently running.

This is a simple wrapper for wxTimer::Start(timeout, wxTIMER_ONE_SHOT) but is
often more readable and is definitely better than Start(timeout, true) which
many people still use in spite of wxTIMER_ONE_SHOT existence.

Precompute the values used by various resampling algorithms once instead of
doing it for each pixel. This dramatically speeds them up: more than 3 times
faster in wxImage benchmark with the small images and up to 5 times faster
with larger images.

Handle horizontal mouse wheel scrolling events in a similar (but simpler, as

This is similar to the existing GetLinesPerAction() but is for, surprise,
columns.
Also change the documentation to say that the value returned by both of these
methods is 3 under "most platforms" as some wxOSX currently uses 1 and not 3.

Also send wxEVT_UPDATE_UI events for the extra controls in wxFileDialog.
The combination of these changes allows extra controls to update their state
depending on the current selection in the dialog. Show a simple example of
doing it in the dialogs sample.

This relied on SetInsertionPoint(-1) working like in wxTextCtrl but it didn't.
Add an explicit check to it for consistency with the other classes and to make

Scroll by entire "sections", i.e. panes of the ribbon, instead of scrolling by
a fixed number of pixels as it's much more useful and user-friendly to uncover
the next section entirely instead of asking the user to press on the arrow
several times before being able to use it.

Using wxAtomicDec() is not enough, its result also must be checked as it will
return 0 only in one of the threads if multiple threads call it in parallel,
while the old test for m_count==0 could pass for more than one thread,
resulting in deleting the same pointer more than once.

If wxPrinterDC was created by the native "Print" dialog for a printer that
supports printing multiple copies, we must not manually print multiple copies
ourselves as this results in too many copies being printed. However we still
need to loop explicitly for wxPrinterDC objects created manually or for the
printers without support for multiple copies (supposing they still exist).

Extract wxModalDialogHook from wx/testing.h into its own wx/modalhook.h,
extend it to allow to be notified not only about showing modal dialogs but
also about dismissing them and document it and show its use in the dialogs
sample.
Also replace all the WX_TESTING_SHOW_MODAL_HOOK macros occurrences with
WX_HOOK_MODAL_DIALOG.

Don't reuse m_lastcount in wxCountingOutputStream to store the stream length,
this doesn't make any sense and results in LastWrite() returning completely
wrong results as it expects m_lastcount to be the number of bytes written by
the last operation.
Add m_lastPos member to store the stream length instead.
Also correct wxCountingOutputStream documentation.

Allow to optionally raed/write float/double values in IEEE 754 single/double
precision formats, respectively, instead of always using the extended
precision format for both of them.
This makes the code more flexible, allowing for better interoperability with
the other programs, and also allows to implement floating point functions in
these classes even when wxUSE_APPLE_IEEE is turned off (as can be the case
because of the licencing concerns for the code in extended.c).

Ensure that the events are always (provided there is an open document)
processed in the following order:
1. wxDocument
2. wxView
3. wxDocManager
4. wxDocChildFrame
5. wxDocParentFrame
6. wxApp
Do this by forwarding the events from wxDocParentFrame to wxDocChildFrame
first and forward them from there to wxDocManager which -- and this part
remains unchanged -- in turn forwards them to the active wxView which finally
forwards them to wxDocument. This requires another condition in the event
handling code as we still must forward from wxDocParentFrame to wxDocManager
itself if there are no active children at all, but this is the only way to
have the same event order in all cases, whether the event is originally
received by wxDocChildFrame or wxDocParentFrame.
Document this and add a unit test verifying that things indeed work like this.

We handled the menu events in the menu itself and the associated window, but
not in the menu bar that the menu belonged to. This was unexpected, so allow
handling the events in the menu bar itself too.

This helper class allows to create wxFonts using shorter and more readable
code, e.g.
wxFont font(12, wxFONTFLAG_DEFAULT,
wxFONTSTYLE_NORMAL, wxFONTWEIGHT_NORMAL, true,
"DejaVu Sans");
can now be written simply as
wxFont font(wxFontInfo(12).FaceName("DejaVu Sans").Underlined());
Remove the ctor from font flags added in r70445 as it's not needed any longer
now that we have this one and adding it resulted in compilation errors in the
existing code which compiled with 2.8 because of ambiguities between that ctor
and wxFont(int size, int family, int style, int weight. bool underlined, ...)
one, e.g.
wxFont(12, wxFONTFAMILY_SWISS, wxNORMAL, wxNORMAL)
didn't compile any more but it does compile again now.

Use the same short names as are used by the event table macros for the event
type constants themselves. This makes them much more comfortable to use, e.g.
Bind(wxEVT_BUTTON) compared to Bind(wxEVT_COMMAND_BUTTON_CLICKED).
The old long names are still kept for backwards compatibility and shouldn't be
removed as it doesn't really cost anything to continue providing them, but all
new event types should only use the short versions.

Native Windows functions used by wxDir check the filter against both the short
and the long name resulting in unexpected results, e.g. searching for
"foo.baz" would find "foo.bazaar".
Fix this by explicitly rechecking that we have a valid match ourselves.

By default the columns are auto-sized to fit just their label, which is fast
but not very user-friendly. Allow customizing this behaviour by handling the
(new) wxEVT_GRID_COL_AUTO_SIZE event.

GTK+ applications don't use sunken status bars since many years, do don't do
it in wxWidgets neither by default any more. Add wxSB_SUNKEN style that can be
explicitly used if the old appearance is desired.

This method couldn't be overridden by the classes deriving from wxLogWindow

It turns out that the actual bitmap shown in this case varies between the
bitmaps at PBS_DEFAULTED and PBS_STYLUSHOT, so that it's invisible half of the
time if we don't specify the value for the latter. Do it now to fix unwanted
pulsing of the bitmap in the focused button.

The later versions of this compiler don't need it any more, so make it easier
to set up the projects for them at the expense of MSVC 6 and 7 users who will
now need to explicitly define wxUSE_RC_MANIFEST=1 and predefine the
architecture macro (or setup their resource compiler include path to get
wx/msw/rcdefs.h under the lib directory but predefining the architecture is
clearly simpler).
Do generate manifest when using gcc as it predefines the architecture macros
allowing us to avoid requiring using the generated rcdefs.h.
The other compilers will be dealt with as needed if anybody is still using
them.

the year might belong to the last week of the previous year but not that the

This reverts r72978, 72984, 72989 and 72992. Do not use wxNOEXCEPT for
wxTextCtrl dtor as this breaks compilation of any user-defined classes
inheriting from it unless they use wxNOEXCEPT as well and the benefits
(fixing a harmless warning for the niche ICC compiler) are just not worth
the compatibility breakage.

This flag generates the corresponding event when the file system containing
the watched directory is unmounted. Currently it is only implemented for
Linux where unmounting now generates this event instead of an error.

This flag allows to monitor changes to the file attributes, such as file
modification time.
This patch adds the flag, support for it under Linux and the corresponding
modifications to the sample and the test suite.

This undoes the changes of r44773 because calling setlocale() resulted in C
locale being set differently from C++ locale which was confusing and led to
huge slowdowns in any code using std::stream with at least MinGW. And setting
the C++ locale to be the same, as r72719 tried to do, doesn't seem to be
practical as it results in immediate crashes under OS X and MinGW when used
under XP.
Do provide wxApp::SetCLocale() helper to explicitly do what was previously
done implicitly, even though currently it is a trivial wrapper for setlocale()
and we don't even need to call gtk_set_locale() as it has never done anything
else and is deprecated since GTK+ 2.24.

needed to enter the given amount of text in it.

Use NSTextView setTypingAttributes to change the attributes used for the new
text by default as setting them for the selected region didn't do anything
useful under OS X (and did nothing at all when there was no selection).

This reverts r72805 (leaving only the changes to printdlg.cpp which seem
harmless and potentially useful) as it resulted in crashes when using
wxHtmlEasyPrinting because we called wxPrintout::OnPreparePrinting() before
setting the DC to be used, which was wrong.
In fact it's not clear how can we get the correct range of pages at all
because we need a DC to paginate properly (i.e. taking into account its size)
but we need to show a dialog, in which we already want to show the pages
range, before choosing the DC. Perhaps we could create a dummy DC for
pagination purposes but how could this work with printers using different page
sizes?
The best would probably be to avoid setting any limits on the page range as
showing 9999 looks ugly but anything else would be wrong.

the version the docs are supposed to be generated with.

"readlink" command also exists under OS X but with a completely different
syntax than under Linux, so just use "pwd -P" to get the physical path name
instead, this should hopefully work everywhere as it's POSIX.

The script calling Doxygen is smart enough to strip the path of the wxWidgets
directory from the paths of the files, but it didn't do it correctly if this
directory was a symlink.
Fix this by using readlink, if available, to get the canonical name.

This currently doesn't work correctly for left/right orientations but at least
it does work for the default top (and also bottom) one.

This flag allows to avoid following the symbolic links during the directory
traversal. In particular, this means that links to the directories
(potentially outside the directory being traversed) are not considered as
directories at all when it is used, potentially avoiding surprises.

Split wxXmlResourceHandler into an ABC and the real implementation to allow
referencing the ABC in the core library itself but without pulling in all of
the XRC into it. This also allows defining XRC handlers, which only depend on
this ABC and not the xrc library, in other libraries, such as richtext, as
demonstrated by the now enabled wxRichTextXMLHandler.

Add wxAsyncMethodCallEvent that is handled simply by calling the method this
event was created for and add default handler for this event to wxEvtHandler.
Implement CallAfter() overloads for up to 2 parameters only for now.

Add "flags" parameter to wxFileName::Exists() to allow testing for the
existing of files of specific type: not only regular or directory but also
symlink, device, FIFO or socket.
And also to pass wxFILE_EXISTS_NO_FOLLOW flag inhibiting following the
symlinks without using DontFollowLink().

Allow to work with the symlinks themselves and not the file they reference by
calling the new wxFileName::DontFollowLink().
Update Unix wxDir implementation to not treat symlinks to directories as
directories, this ensures that we don't recurse into the directories outside
of the original parent accidentally.

Allow making TAB/Shift-TAB wrap to the next/previous row or going to the
next/previous control when the cursor is at the end/beginning of the current
row easily.
Also add wxEVT_GRID_TABBING event to allow customizing TAB behaviour even
further.
Update the sample to show the different possible standard behaviours and a
stupid example of a custom one (it would be probably more useful to implement
something a tad more realistic, e.g. tabbing to the next non-empty cell).

big, informative drag images for them that can be easily displayed using
Windows shell support for them.

Only apply Cairo transforms in StartPage(), doing it earlier interferes with
the code doing the coordinate system rotation inside GTK+ itself when a
non-portrait printing mode is used.

Start processing key events from the currently focused window, this ensures
that its key event handlers are tried before the top level window
accelerators.
This is consistent with wxMSW and allows a window to locally override the
global accelerators which really makes sense.

Mostly copy wxGenericTreeCtrl incremental search implementation to
wxGenericListCtrl (unfortunately there is no simple way to reuse this code
currently), including the recently added EnableBellOnNoMatch() method.
Update the sample to test it, the key event handling in it had to be modified
to allow it.
