Now that we can get better fine-grained numbers, added two more

There's no reason to use std::aligned_storage when it's simpler to use
an array and alignas(). This way you don't have to remember whether the
template arguments are size-then-align or align-then-size, you don't
have to remember to use the _t variant or typename ... ::type, and
there's no risk to forgetting the alignment parameter entirely.
It doesn't look like this was deprecated, but I still think this paper
makes good arguments for why we shouldn't use it:

This ties the caps to the compiler instance, paving the way for
pre-optimizing the shared code. Most of the time, the compiler is
created and owned the GPU instance, so this is fine. For runtime
effects, we now use the shared (device-agnostic) compiler instance
for the first compile, even on GPU. It's configured with caps that
apply no workarounds. We pass the user's SkSL to the backend as
cleanly as possible, and then apply any workarounds once it's part
of the full program.

The semantics of `vector::reserve` and `SkTArray::reserve` were not the

whereas vector takes a total array size. This could lead to subtle
errors with over- or under-reservation, hurting performance.
This CL renames `SkTArray::reserve` to `SkTArray::reserve_back` to give
the SkTArray behavior a distinct (hopefully easily understandable) name,
leaving its functionality as-is.

still supported SkClipOp::kIntersect op. Other than the benchmark case, the GPU
clip stack wasn't hitting these cases but they do need to be updated when the deprecated
ops are fully removed.
At this point, the remaining uses of deprecated clip ops are all in unit tests that
specifically test a clip stack (raster, conservative, or skclipstack) that specifically
supports expanded clip ops and the tests are testing those operations. They can remain
until we remove full support.

There is no more 'inout half4 color'. Effects return their output color.
If an effect wants the input color, it must use the (already existing)
approach of sampling a nullptr input shader.
The change is guarded for Chromium (so we can update their runtime color
filters in skia_renderer.cc).
For the GPU backend, FPs can now override usesExplicitReturn to indicate
that their emitCode will generate a return statement. If that's true,
then writeProcessorFunction doesn't inject the automatic return of the
output color, and emitFragProc will *always* wrap that FP in a helper
function, even as a top-level FP. GrSkSLFP opts in to this behavior, so
that the user-supplied return becomes the actual return in the FP's
emitCode.
Adapting the skvm code to this wasn't too bad: It looks fragile (what
happens if there are multiple returns?), but that's not really possible
today, without varying control flow.

The most interesting part of the CL is that we recheck gSkVMAllowJIT in
Program::eval() even though we've already checked it in the constructor.
This allows Viewer to toggle the JIT on and off without having to worry
about program caching. This is not something that you'd expect to come
up in practice if a program just sets gSkVMAllowJIT at the start of
main(); for real clients I think we can avoid all this with a simple
SkGraphics::allowJIT() that only lets clients opt-in, never back out.
I toyed with making '!' rotate through a tristate in Viewer, until I
realized that these really are independent bits: GMs like threshold_rt
that use both ordinary effects and SkVM-only effects demonstrate
different behavior and performance in all four modes. So '!' continues
to toggle SkVMBlitter, and now '@' toggles the JIT.
I've left the test program default settings unchanged, with the JIT
enabled unless --nojit is passed. Where we previously simplified the
command line by conflating --dylib with --skvm, we now conflate --dylib
with --jit.

C++ algorithms have largely standardized on a [begin, end) half-open
range, as seen in standard library containers. SkTQSort now adheres to
this model, and takes vec.begin() and vec.end() as its inputs.
To avoid confusion between inclusive and half-open ranges inside the
implementation, internal helper functions now take "left" and "count"

ambiguity.

Adds a method to determine the worst-case number of tessellated line
segments that a path might require, and disables hardware tessellation
if it is more segments than are supported (falling back on indirect
draw shaders).
If the path requires even more segments than are supported by the
indirect draw shaders (1024), we crop the path to the viewport. The
required number of segments is proportional to the square root of the
bounding box's diagonal, so we won't start cropping paths until their
device-space bounding box diagonal is nearly 175,000 pixels long.

A null clip represents no high-level clipping is necessary (the implicit
clip to the render target's logical dimensions is fine).
This also removes GrNoClip and GrFixedClip::Disabled() since they are
replaced with just nullptr.
By allowing nullptr to represent no intended clipping, it makes it easier
to require GrClip and GrAppliedClip objects to know about the dimensions
of the device. If we required a non-null clip object to represent no
clipping, we'd have to have an instance for each device based on its
size and that just became cumbersome.

Take this opportunity to clean up the class:
- The base class, which was originally designed to allow switching
amongst different implementations, is no longer needed. Rename
SkBitmapRegionCodec to android::skia::BitmapRegionDecoder
(following the new convention and matching the Java API name).
Continue to inherit from SkBitmapRegionDecoder temporarily, to
allow Android to switch to the new API.
- Use std::unique_ptr instead of passing raw pointers.
Add a test to verify that we only create a BitmapRegionDecoder if
it is one of the supported types.

This brings back the pow2 rectanizer for use with various ongoing
atlas experiments. If we can further optimize the skyline rectanizer,
then pow2 will be good to have around as a baseline comparison. And
if skyline gets fast enough, then we can delete pow2 again.

The only GrMeshDrawOp-derived classes left are:
AAHairlineOp - which has 3 programInfos
AAFlatteningConvexPathOp - which has >=1 mesh (but just 1 programInfo)
GrAtlasTextOp - which has inline uploads
SmallPathOp - which, maybe, has inline uploads
TextureOp - which has chaining

This CL tries to move core to use a single type.
SkMatrix44 has callers in android and chrome, is loaded with double/float
variants in its API. I am suggesting moving to a private, clean-start,

If eventually we can migrate clients to a shared impl/api, great. For now,

The reason for the assert was breaking an assert, that if the CTM was scale/translate, that after
a preTranslate, it should still be that.
This is true... unless the new translate values are non-finite. In that case, we might turn a zero
into a NaN, (0 * non_finite --> nan), so we either have to require finite args (which we don't
at the moment) or we can't make this assert. This re-land removes that assert.

This helps stability of benchmark across repeated runs, and across code
changes. Previously, a change to the tuned loop count could radically
change the allocation behavior within the loop's iteration and lead to
unfair comparisons.
In addition, this separates the stack allocation pattern into N allocations
followed by N LIFO releases, and a push-pop alternating pattern of N
allocates and releases (so still LIFO, but reuses the memory at the start
of a block).
In later CLs experimenting on the memory pool, I found that there were
surprising effects on performance linked to the specific interaction between
the allocation size, per-allocation metadata, and per-block metadata. To
help differentiate these coincidences, this adds two modes of allocation
where one should already be aligned.
It also moves away from a global pool, so that it's possible to benchmark
on different block sizes and factor in the allocation/release cost of the
actual blocks (vs. the cursor management of a larger sized pool). As part
of this, the new/delete reference operator is added as an explicit benchmark.

The interpreter doesn't (yet) support all GPU intrinsics, so adjust the
code to avoid 'max' and 'saturate'.
The interpreter is more picky about uniform blocks being the correct
size, so don't pass the color matrix data to the "None" effect, which
has no uniforms.

Drop unnecessary () in `const char* (*fText)`. Sure, whatever.
Then a couple tweaks where we use strncpy():
In one case in SkICC.cpp, GCC warns us we're passing sizeof(dst) as
the copy count, which can be error prone because you may miss a
terminating nul. I believe the existing strncpy() behavior is what
we want here, so I've stifled this and left a note. We don't really
want a terminating nul... we want a zero fill of the remaining dst.
On the other side of that if-statment in that same function, GCC
warns that we've passed exactly sizeof(src) as the copy count when
writing the calculated description prefix, which again might be
buggy due to a missed terminating nul. Seemed like memcpy() was the
way to go here for that prefix. Ultimately we check to make sure we
wrote every single destination byte.
Over in SkPDFMetadata.cpp, strncpy() is concerned once again that
we're copying strlen(src) and thus omitting the terminating nul. As
usual we don't want that terminating nul, so switch to memcpy() to
make that explicit.
I'm starting to think strncpy() is too helpful to reason about sanely.

This CL is 100% plumbing. We ultimately want all GrPrimitiveProcessor-derived objects to not be refCounted. This will make several helper objects POD and, by putting them into an arena, will make managing their lifetime easier (e.g., for DDL prePreparing).
Note: the CCPR GrGeometryProcessor-derived classes only ever appear on the stack so aren't forced into arenas.

Previously the pixel data passed to the client was only valid during
the client's callback. This meant if the client wanted to defer
processing of the data a copy was necessary.
Now we pass an object to the callback and the pixel lifetime is tied
to the lifetime of that object.
The object may be holding a GPU transfer buffer mapped. We don't assume
that the object will be released on the direct GrContext thread. So
when the object is destroyed it posts a message to a new type,
GrClientMappedBufferManager, hanging off the direct context. The direct
context will periodically check for messages and unmap and then unref
buffers so that they can be reused. Currently this is done in
GrContext::performDeferredCleanup() and GrDrawingManager::flush().
The old API is kept around for backwards compatibility but it is
reimplemented as a bridge on top of the new mechanism.
Also a utility function to SkImageInfo is added to directly make a new
info with a specified dimensions rather than passing the width and
height separately to makeWH().

- Remove the N parameter to run, it was only used to run
things one-at-a-time (other than one spot in unit tests),
and it simplifies the code quite a bit. If you want to run
multiple times, use the striped version. I also moved that
functions 'N' earlier in the parameter list, to make the

2x faster than calling drawVertices as the impl.
Lots more to do in future CLs
- much of the time is spent in malloc, as we cons-up private shaders.
we *could* create a private shader and wack its data for each draw
(breaking the immutable contract, but that may be ok for a raster-only
internal-use shader...)
- also spend time building the pipeline for each draw, even though
all that has changed is a color payload (and the ctm). A custome
stage(s) that exposed its private data could be reused with new
data...

we just keep the classes (and tests) in skia.

PS2 adds a rewrite for Skia #include <...> to #include "...", letting
them be otherwise rewritten and sorted too. (We do need one exception
for the Vulkan headers, which will otherwise be rewritten to always
point to our own.) I don't think it's particularly important to
favor "" or <>, but picking one keeps things consistent.
PS3 adds a missing SkMutex.h include.
PS4 fixes a terrible readability problem.

Out of bounds access with constant indices is a compile error.
At runtime, causes the interpreter to fail. Made several other
conditions trigger the same failure logic, and updated all
uses of the interpreter to validate success.

These didn't work correctly, and they're extremely tricky to get right
in the vectorized execution model (vs. structured control flow). As a
side effect, determine the maximum stack depth used for the execution
masking - the same idea will be used for the primary stack in a later
CL. Add a unit test to verify the new restriction, and fix two places
that were relying on this feature before.
In addition, boolean external values need to be masks. I may implement
this in the code-gen at some point, but this is already a fringe
feature, so just fix the one unit test for now.
